Improbable, But Not Impossible.| Coach Garner's Mean Green

Coach Garner's Office; End of 2012-13 Football Season

    *knock knock*

    Garner: Come in.

AD Villarreal: Evening, Coach. Can I ask what you're doing here this late? You got your girlfriend at home, don't you?

Garner: I know, just looking at 10K times from the Conference Meet and comparing them to the C-USA times.

AD Villarreal: I see. You had some success this year, didn't you?

Garner: 2nd in the Sun Belt for girls, Conference Champs for guys.

AD Villarreal: *sigh* Well, I'm glad one of our sports teams are having success.

Garner: I heard about that. 3-9 this year on the gridiron, huh? I hate to see Coach McCarney go, he was a good guy.

AD Villarreal: Well, you see, that is kind of what I wanted to talk to you about. I'd like to hire you as the next Mean Green head coach.

    Garner: You're pretty funny, sir.

    AD Villarreal: ...

Garner: Ah, you're serious. But why me? I have no playing experience, much less coaching experience.

AD Villarreal: I've seen you and McCarney, the way you used to talk. He always went to you if he had a question on some new play he was working, more often than his coordinators. He saw your skills, you're a strategical genius.

Garner: It's more of a hobby, really. But what about the cross country team? I can't leave the team like that.

AD Villarreal: I never said you had to reign as the cross country coach.

    Garner:: I don't know if I could...

AD Villarreal: I have an offer for you. Think about it for a sec. *hands paper*

Garner:: Wow, this is what McCarney made?

AD Villarreal: More or less. It's a two-year contract. If you don't like it, I can "fire" you and you can just be the cross country coach.

Garner: Well I'd need to talk to Michelle about this...

AD Villarreal: About that, I've planned ahead of time. She was very inclined when I told her your new salary. Why do you keep evading this job? This is your dream, and I'm giving you an opportunity to live it.

Garner: *sigh* Alright. I'll do it.

AD Villarreal: Excellent. I'll have the official papers tomorrow. Welcome to Mean Green Football, Coach Garner.

Garner: Thanks a lot, sir. *handshake*

Well, this is my second dynasty on here, I did a Minnesota Dynasty, but I wasn't serious about it. This one, though, I hope to be more focused.

    CONFERENCE CHANGES

All conference changes for the 2013-2014 season are being applied in this dynasty. The changes are as follows:

Syracuse and Pitt from Big East to ACC

Houston, SMU, Memphis, and UCF from C-USA to Big East

Boise State and San Diego State from MWC to Big East

Louisiana Tech and UTSA from WAC to C-USA

FIU and North Texas from Sun Belt to C-USA

Old Dominion* from CAA to C-USA

    UNC-Charlotte* from A-10 to C-USA

Georgia State from CAA to Sun Belt

South Alabama from FCS Indep. to Sun Belt

Texas State from WAC to Sun Belt

San Jose State and Utah State will not leave WAC for MWC due to four team minimum in a conference.

*Begin Play in 2015, but are added due to not being able to add TB teams in offseason

To make room for the incoming Teambuilder teams, the following have been replaced:

    UMASS, Akron, UNLV and FAU

...and somehow we have 14 teams in the C-USA. Ah well, more fun for me.
    TCU Horned Frogs
    Minnesota Vikings
    Montreal Canadiens

Mean Green Look to Garner a Championship

DENTON, TX- How does a cross country coach with no playing or coaching experience become a D-I head coach? Well, that's the question many UNT students and fans have been trying to find the answer to since January. With the departure of McCarney, many people expected another jobless coach to fill the void, and were surprised when Coach Jake Garner was asked to take the head coaching position.

"I don't regret my choice. Coach Garner is an excellent mind when it comes to football. I haven't seen such a confident play-caller in all my years as AD" said Athletic Director Rick Villarreal. "I expect great things from him."

Garner, whom was the active Mean Green Cross Country head coach since 2010, had this to say. "I'll admit it took a bit of thinking, but I'm happy that Mr. Villarreal gave me this opportunity. The football guys are a good group of kids, and I think with the work put in during the off-season and the way the guys have adapted to the new playbook, we have a legitimate shot at the C-USA title. We may not be landslide favorites, but by the time the half way mark of the season roles around, expect North Texas to have its name tossed into the ring."

Garner implemented a new offense into the Mean Green program; calling it a "pistol variant with an emphasis on passing" replacing the spread offense instituted by McCarney. With the release of the 2013 schedule, UNT has one of the easier line-ups, playing UTSA, South Alabama, and Tulane, among others. The biggest test of the year comes in the second week against the Texas Longhorns, whom have been picked #22 in the preseason polls. In addition to UT, North Texas's out f conference games will also be against former Sun Belt companion Troy on opening weekend and Texas Southern on October 13th. Among all the speculation and scrutiny, many are waiting to see if Garner really is worthy of this golden opportunity.

          -Mean Green Locker Room-

Garner: Alright guys. This is what we've been working for since January. Since day one I've promised to give you my best. Today, I need to know if you can bring yours. While I can't say I've been in your shoes, you could kind of compare this to a race, in a way. I told my runners that there's ten thousand meters between you and that finish line. Today, there's eleven other guys and one hundred yards between you and the goal line. It may be a lot less, but I know you'll work hard and...*sigh*
Look, I'm not very good with these speeches. One question; are you ready to kick some rear?

          Team: YES SIR!

Garner: Good enough! Mean Green on three. One, two, three...
