    BREAKING NEWS:
Spencer Renfro beats out Joe Philbin for coaching job of Miami Dolphins

Spencer, previously a head coach at Western Kentucky University, was brought up to the pros after many great years at WKU. His aggressive nature is a major trait and reason why he won the job over Philbin. Although he has no experience in the pros, he is a young and vibrant coach who is willing to take chances in this franchise. His starting salary is unknown, but it is one of high income. Renfro turned down many college jobs, including University of Auburn, University of Colorado, and Georgia Tech. His expertise in defensive play has allowed him to be compared to such coaches as Brian Billick and Tom Landry. Although he was more of a pass play-caller in college, he has come out and said that rebuilding the Dolphins run is first and top priority.
"I am very honored to receive this coaching job. It is a dream come true to finally be coaching not only in the NFL, but for one of the best franchises in the world. My goal is to repeat the 1972 season, and have the Dolphins a powerhouse once again," states Coach Renfro.

Although his team is not predicted to do as well as the past few years, Renfro believes they have a legitimate chance of making the playoffs. He later states that Tannehill will be this teams (starting) quarterback. And that although the team is not the youngest he will force the best out of all that will play.

Renfro is known for his spread offense, but has been rumored to be running an offensive playbook similar to Houston's and a defensive playbook like the one Billick ran in Baltimore.

Renfro must perform well the first year as Ireland (Miami's GM) has been rumored to say that winning at least 8 games this year is a must.

More news on this topic as more information is found.

      The Season Begins!

Finally with the preseason being completed, the Dolphins and coach Renfro are enthusiastic on the upcoming season. Some things that happened over the preseason were:

      Releases:

      Daniel Thomas - RB
      Tyler Thigpen - RB
      Brian Tyms - WR
      Marlon Moore - WR
      Chas Alecxih - DT
      R.J. Stanford - CB
      Dimitri Patterson - CB
      Tyrone Culver - SS

      Additions:

      Steve Slaton - RB
      Ted Ginn Jr. - WR

      Injuries:

      R. Jones (SS) - Dislocated Ankle - 3 Weeks
      S. Smith (CB) - Partial MCL Tear - 6 Weeks
      R. Bush (HB) - Broken Hand - 6 Weeks

The Dolphins finished the preseason with a 1-3 record, mainly trying to secure spots in the time being. Although the defense took a strong hit by 2 starters being injured, it performed very well in the preseason. The offense however looked very sluggish and poor with Tannehill at QB and Slaton, a late acquisition, trying to take leadership roles.

The offense is in for one in the first game of the season, as the Dolphins will be taking on the Houston Texans, Super Bowl favorites for the year to come.

Re: Quest to Rebuild the Year '72 - Miami Dolphins CCM M13

Record day from Slaton shadows the poor start by Tannehill as Dolphins limp out of Houston with a 41-37 win!

"I am very proud of Steve (Slaton). He has come along well from the rough start in the preseason. His amazing day has him gaining my respect as the starting RB. However; I am very pleased to see the confidence in Tannehill. After three early picks (all in the first half), he came out in the second half and led the team to a comeback victory over one of the top defenses in the game." This interview after the Dolphins come from behind win against the favored Texans.

The Texans came out fast on this day, as they took an early 20 - 7 lead, after 2 interceptions from Tannehill gave them the ball inside Dolphins territory. Foster scored quickly in the game, scoring twice within the first 6 minutes of the game, pushing him team in front early.

However; the Dolphins would respond with a long TD pass from Tannehill to Tight End Charles Clay. The game looked as if half-time was imminent until Tannehill threw his third interception in the first half, later leading to a Shayne Graham kick.

The Dolphins though struck in the third quarter with a long, steady drive that ate up almost 7 minutes of the clock. Ending with a Lamar Miller touchdown from a couple yards out.

The Texans however struck again, making the score a troublesome 30-20, and limiting the Dolphins from a comeback. But on the first play from scrimmage after the Texans' touchdown, Slaton broke off an 80 yard touchdown run, which turned the tide for the Dolphins. The Texans scored a final time, and forced the Dolphins to turn more to the pass in the final 7 minutes of the game.

The Dolphins scored again though, on a 14 yard touchdown catch from Brian Hartline. The Texans were then forced to punt with under 2 minutes remaining in the game, and forcing the Dolphins to drive a majority of the field for a game-tying field goal.

The Dolphins struck fast with a few double-digit yard completions, but disaster struck. Tannehill was sacked twice and with under a minutes to play the Dolphins were faced with a 3rd-and-23 at their own 47 yard line.

Here's the call: "Tanehill back in shotgun, Ginn outside to the left, Hartline and Bess out to the right. Tannehill takes the snap... waiting... waiting... throws it out wide right to Ginn on a streak pattern... Caught! He has room! 40, 30, down to the 24 yard line is Ginn! That reception gives the Dolphins a first down!!!"

Ginn later scores on the possession and gives the Dolphins a 41-37 lead. Schaub completes one pass before throwing his first pick of the game to OLB Trusnik, which seals the game for the Dolphins.

Dolphins fall apart, blow 42-20 4th quarter lead!

"I have no comment about that play-call. We had the game, and lost it. Bad mistakes and bad play-calling by me in the fourth quarter. We has the win secured, yet couldn't keep it. I have no further comments about the game. Thank you," states Coach Renfro.

The Dolphins blow the 22 point lead in the fourth quarter. In the first half of the game, the Dolphins played flawlessly on offense, converting on 6 of 6 3rd down tries and entering the red zone on each drive. Tannehill had 3 touchdown passes in the first half, and finished with five in the game. He also started 19/21 with no interceptions. However; in the fourth quarter he had two costly picks both inside 3 minutes left. One was returned 91 yards for a touchdown to get within three points. Another on 3rd and long with 1:36 to play.

Tannehill and the Dolphins did score on the next possesion to get ahead by three, but Oakland used Janikowski to their advantage, kicking a 56 yarder to send the game into overtime.

The Dolphins offense clicked all game, until the last 10 minutes of regulation. They finished with a whopping 729 offensive yards, 542 passing and 187 rushing. But turnovers hurt them again, giving the ball away 4 times.

In overtime, the Dolphins won the toss and elected to receive and on their first play from scrimmage fumbled. Luckily, they did recover the ball, only three plays later to fumble again, leading to their defeat.

Carson Palmer was a force on the field completing 83% of his passes for 5 touchdowns and one interception. McFadden also had a good game, with 87 rushing yards on 23 carries and a touchdown.

Shonn Greene runs wild, but Dolphins hold on in overtime!

Shonn Greene was the main story in this game. He touched the ball 37 times and had 217 yards and 3 touchdowns. This is the story of the Dolphins defense, their injuries have limited them too an awful stand-still, to where their offense must play very well to win games. Miami did pick off Sanchez 3 times though, proving that they can play well. But it is still unproven which Dolphins defense will show up.

Coach Renfro was asked about this, "Our defense is battling a lot of injuries at the moment, and we have new guys in there each week. Although I am frustrated by the run defense, the defense as a whole made some key stops that allowed us to win this game."

The Jets led for most of the game, until they gave up their 14 point lead on a last second touchdown by Slaton.

Another term for concern is Tannehill's choices in the pocket. This is his third straight game of throwing 3 interceptions and Renfro didn't like that at all... "We are steadily trying to improve his play-making decision. His reads have not been the best to start this season, but he is our guy and until proven otherwise will remain that."

The Dolphins, unlike last week, didn't fall to turnovers in this overtime game as they squeaked by with a 45 yard field goal in overtime to finish off their big divisional rival.

Yes, i know. I can't seem to find a slider set that allows for a nice total yardage and score amount without dismantling the game.

If anyone knows any good sliders to use, I am very interested, as these high scores are against All-Madden...

Overtime Again! Early INT in OT leads to game-winner!

"I am very displeased with our playing as of late. Our unwillingness to play good defense or make big plays in late situations is very disappointing... Next week we will return linebacker and captain Karlos (Dansby). Injuries have plauged us thus far into the season. However, that is not the excuse for our flops in overtime this year. This week and for the rest of the year defense will be a main focus. I believe a strong defense leads to a strong offense."

Although the game went into overtime (Dolphins losing 24-21), the Dolphins were outplayed in every aspect of the game. They didn't hold the turnover battle, total yards, and they committed way too many penalties. The Dolphins led the game early 14-0 until Beanie Wells was released from his 2 quarter suspension. He finished the game with 201 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns.

The Dolphins made a late key interception off of Kolb that looked to guarantee the victory, but a late fumble by Slaton gave the Cardinals a huge opportunity, where Kolb threw a long pass to Larry Fitzgerald to tie the game.

The Dolphins, facing their third straight overtime, won the toss in overtime, but Tannehill was faced with too much pressure and threw an interception to Patrick Peterson who returned it 60 yards to the Dolphins 5 yard line. Jay Feely connected on a 22 yard field goal to give the Cardinals the come from behind victory.

BREAKING NEWS: Davone Bess wants out of Miami!

Davone Bess, Wide Receiver for the Miami Dolphins came out with a statement today that proclaimed that he was not being treated well enough and was not receiving the attention he should receive as a legitimate wide receiver. Bess this year has caught 17 passes for 323 yards and 3 touchdowns. Although his stats are near tops on his team he is contending that he should be the starter of the team, and should not have to share time with Ted Ginn Jr. (a new member of this Dolphins team, picked up in preseason).

Coach Renfro has not commented on this issue, but Bess has tweeted an apology about the statement:

"@davonebess "I want to apologize to the team and the coaching staff about my outburst. I am sorry that my inner feeling were brought out to the public before the coaching staff.""

Any new information about this situation will come to you live as fast as we know anything.!

Re: Quest to Rebuild the Year '72 - Miami Dolphins CCM M13

Sloppy Game ends with the Dolphins management rethinking their coaching choice; Dolphins lose 31-30!

“I am shocked… I am just shocked… I take the blame for allowing our team to be unprepared for this game; however, this could have been the sloppiest game I have ever seen. Nine turnovers total and we had 2 in last 3 minutes… I am just in disbelief. I want to apologize to Dolphins supporters and fans for our play as of late. This team is not going to throw in the towel. We are going to have to prepare and play better next week against the Rams. I am guaranteeing a victory. I will promise our fans that we will come out and win this ball game.”

Dolphins blow yet another game yet again. This blemish leaves the management rethinking their decision on hiring Renfro. Although the Dolphins are only one game under .500 they have been outperformed in almost all games.

The Dolphins came out in this one tough, they took an early 10-0 lead behind a Carpenter field goal and a fumble recovery return for a touchdown by D. Shelby. However it was evident that the Bengals receivers had the speed and quickness to get behind this Dolphins secondary as they had touchdowns of 43, 42, and 41 yards. Although the Dolphins were able to prevent the Bengals run game to get started they did not prevent the long pass from Dalton.

The Dolphins defense in the first half looked like a first tier defense forcing Dalton to 4 first half turnovers, including 3 fumbles and 1 interception. They outplayed the Bengals in all aspects of the game at the time, while not turning the ball over at all.

The second half was different though. They did force Dalton to fumble once more and throw one more interception; the offense ran out of gas. They turned the ball over 4 times in the 2nd half alone, with 2 crucial turnovers (a Slaton fumble with 1:43 left and a Tannehill interception with :34 left). The lack of leadership on offense is a major concern for the Dolphins as they will be looking to Bush when he returns in the coming weeks.

Josh Brown hit his only field goal attempt, the game-winner from 38 yards out with 1:43 left in the game.

Coach benches star, Defense plays lights out!

"I am very proud of our team today. They all played amazing and in the end we came out on top and made some critical plays to win this game. This is the road to recovery and next week we return some more starters and should be in major contention for making the playoffs."

The coach was asked about Bess' comment and about benching league-leader in yards and touchdowns Steve Slaton: "Davone (Bess) and I sat down after his comment and we discussed both of our wants and needs for this team. We both came to a outcome that we wanted what was best for the team. And in the event of Slaton, I believed that after the fumble by him in the first quarter was a sign to give Lamar (Miller) some carries and he took advantage so we kept him out there. Right now Steve is still the back-up behind Reggie (who will return next week)."

Last week coach Renfro made a guarantee that his team would be victorious this week against the Rams and that became true. He has to thank his defense for that. His defense gave up only 202 yards of offense and forced a turnover and a safety. They also held St. Louis to 1 for 12 on 3rd down and played well in the redzone only giving up points twice in four attempts, both being field goals.

After an early Steve Slaton fumble, coach Renfro made a big decision, he put out Miller to play the next series and he came up big carrying the ball 30 times for 135 yards. Coach Renfro also made a big decision about Bess, but left him out there as the #2 receiver behind Hartline and Bess played well catching 6 passes for 82 yards.

The Rams held the Dolphins the first drive and converted on a 29 yard field goal, then made Slaton fumble on the next and again converted on a 36 yard field goal.

The Dolphins however drove the field and with 11:00 to go in the 2nd, they went for it on 4th and goal at the 1, and were denied. St. Louis' first snap after the hold, a safety. A blitz up the middle grabbed and pulled down Jackson in the endzone for 2 points.

The Dolphins and Rams both traded punts and both traded field goals in the final minute of the game to go into halftime 9-5 Rams lead.

The 3rd quarter went silent, but in the fourth Carpenter and Zuerlein both converted on field goals, 48 yards and 50 yards respectively.

After a 34 yard run by Lamar Miller down the left hash, Tannehill connected with Ted Ginn Jr. on his only TD pass of the game, a 10 yard curl route in the middle of the endzone.

                            Week 7: Dolphins Bye

Although the Dolphins had a bye this week, much activity went on in the NFL.

A comment from Brian Hartline about his critics went world-wide: "To all my supporters out there, thank you for being behind me and this team. I want to thank the Dolphins organization for giving me 4 more years at this wonderful franchise. Although their has been much criticism about my ability in the future, i promise the Dolphins fans and franchise that signing me was a great decision."

The Dolphins have also signed R. Starks to a 6 year $43.8M deal, R. Bush to a 5 year $25.5M deal, and J. Long to a 6 year $51.0M deal.

Cameron Wake, Reggie Bush, Steve Smith, Richard Marshall, and Jason Trusnik all come back from their injuries. Charles Clay return time is unknown as his injury was more severe then previously thought.

Is it Tebow Time Yet? Even he couldn't have helped the Jets today, Dolphins cruise 48-9!

"I am very excited about the way the team played today. Everyone contributed today and the result was a great win for our program against one of our bitter rivals. The offense, defense, special teams, and backups all played their hearts out, and showed that at full strength this team is a very dangerous team," states coach Renfro after the blowout victory against the Jets.

The Jets in the past two games have allowed 108 points! Both those games were against divisional rivals too. So three questions erupt after a showing like this... 1) Is Rex Ryan done in New York? 2) Is it 'Tebow Time?' 3) How good is this Dolphins team at full strength?

An expert answered these three questions... "Yes, Ryan is done in New York and I believe that Sanchez is done there too. Right now, Tebow is not the right person to put in there. McElroy is the person I would put in there now, allowing him to start his career early and build a bond with the other players. And this Dolphins' team is a scary one. They are a team I wouldn't want to see in the later stages of the season. Coach Renfro has done a great job over the past couple weeks to downplay any thoughts of being on a hot-seat."

This game was over before it even started, as the Jets last week were blasted by the Patriots 60-38, and this week wasn't much better for them. And it didn't help that the Jets would quit running the ball so early.

The Dolphins started off hot on defense forcing the Jets to punt early and often, 7 times in the game. The offense also started off hot, in their first possession they started with a short field goal, then scored on a 4 yard run by Slaton on their next. The Dolphins again stopped the Jets and Slaton scored another time from a yard out.

New York finally struck with a 36 yard field goal from Mare, but Slaton (after an early Bush injury) broke free for a 58 yard touchdown run, his third of the day. Mare again hit a 23 yard field goal with under a minute in the half to put the score at 24-6. The Jets hit Keller a few time in the next drive to get within striking distance, but once again came up short and had to kick, a 24 yarder.

Miami then struck twice back-to-back, with a 60 yard pass to Ginn and a 10 yard pass to Hartline. In between those touchdowns, Dolphins' returnees, Wake and Smith, clobbered Jets receiver Gates, whom fumbled and the Dolphins jumped on it. Wake also collected 3 sacks in his return.

Dolphins starters were pulled, but the scoring wasn't over. Miller came off the bench and pushed in from 2 yards to make the score 45-9. Carpenter hit his second of the day from 30 yards, ending the game at 48-9.

Hartline and Keller battled for top receiver today as they put up big stats, 9-118-1 and 9-160-0, respectively. Hartline was matched up well with Revis all day. Slaton also put up big numbers, a week after being benched, with 16-133-3.

                              Other Notes:

This is the second game in a row where the Dolphins defense did not allow a touchdown.
                              R. Bush came back into the game later, so he will start next week.
This is the third straight week of giving up less than 75 yards rushing, earlier this season the Dolphins gave up back-to-back 200 yard rushers, including Shonn Greene.
This is the 4th 100+ yard game for Hartline on the season.
Charles Clay placed on IR with serious injury forcing him out rest of season.

New York will take off next week for their bye.
Tannehill and the Dolphins will face off against #1 pick Luck and the Colts next week.
