Greenfield-Central Cougars vs Goshen Bears
In a heavily defensive battle, the Greenfield-Central Cougars and Goshen Bears provided a very entertaining game for football purists. Hosted by the University of Notre Dame, the final score was 14-3. Greenfield-Central prevailed relying heavily on star senior running back Jared Rush. Rush rushed for 141 yards on 43 carries, his most of the entire season, collecting 2 touchdowns along the way. Rush also caught two screen passes for 36 yards. Fellow senior Akia Green, a receiver, was held to four receptions for 23 yards. Both seniors are being recruited by Division I schools, as a duo getting offers from Indiana, Northern Illinois, Arizona, Michigan and Ohio. Rush and Green, best friends since grade school, have both said they are only going to play together in college, on scholarships or otherwise.
“Both have dreams of the NFL, and a walk on to a good team is a very good possibility, but I know no more than anyone else does besides them, not even their parents know their intentions for certain.” Coach Wayne Byrd said of Rush and Green. “For now, they should live in the moment and celebrate with their teammates, their school and their community.” Only Signing Day will say.
