    Greenfield-Central Cougars vs Goshen Bears

In a heavily defensive battle, the Greenfield-Central Cougars and Goshen Bears provided a very entertaining game for football purists. Hosted by the University of Notre Dame, the final score was 14-3. Greenfield-Central prevailed relying heavily on star senior running back Jared Rush. Rush rushed for 141 yards on 43 carries, his most of the entire season, collecting 2 touchdowns along the way. Rush also caught two screen passes for 36 yards. Fellow senior Akia Green, a receiver, was held to four receptions for 23 yards. Both seniors are being recruited by Division I schools, as a duo getting offers from Indiana, Northern Illinois, Arizona, Michigan and Ohio. Rush and Green, best friends since grade school, have both said they are only going to play together in college, on scholarships or otherwise.

“Both have dreams of the NFL, and a walk on to a good team is a very good possibility, but I know no more than anyone else does besides them, not even their parents know their intentions for certain.” Coach Wayne Byrd said of Rush and Green. “For now, they should live in the moment and celebrate with their teammates, their school and their community.” Only Signing Day will say.

Re: The Career of A Running Back Named Rush

Seated in the gymnasium with many college representatives, family, and friends, seniors Jared Rush and Akia Green held their choice in silence. “Today,” Rush said, “we are all gathered to see where Akia and I are going to play football at the next level.”

“Yes,” Green replied. “Nobody knows but us, our decision.” He said chuckling. There was a pause. They looked at each other and back at the crowd.

“Today,” the pair said in unison, “we would to announce we are attending the University of Southern California to play football next fall.”

There was a roar of applause, disgust, and indifferent clapping. Rush took to the microphone to elaborate.

“We won’t be on scholarships, but I speak for both of us to say ‘we WILL make the team’ and ‘we WILL start there some day’. After many days of debate, we felt Southern Cal gave us the best experience and best opportunity to pursue the NFL, which has been our dream since we were playing peewee.”
“I’m sure Jared is pumped to go to Tailback U,” Green added. “Thank you to everyone for attending!”

No one knows whether the pair will succeed, but once can only suspect they will fulfill their promise: to work as hard as they can to get snaps.

Led by senior QB Matt Barkley, the Trojans marched into Hawaii and pummeled the Warriors 42-10.

In his first career game as a USC Trojan, true freshman running back Jared Rush saw no snaps as the fourth string. Coach Lane Kiffin was quoted as saying, "Jared has been working very hard in practice and it's only a matter of time before he gets some snaps."

“We worked hard, did what we needed to, and were able to grind out that win.” Coach Kiffin said. When asked about the potential of seeing Jared Rush getting snaps, Kiffin added, “He has continued to work very hard in practice and look for him to see a few touches in the coming weeks. Curtis [McNeal] and Silas [Redd] have not done anything to lose touches, Jared is just an incredible worker and is willing to do whatever he can to help the team. You can’t ask for more than that.”

Leading the team, senior QB Matt Barkley and sophomore WR Marquise Lee connected for 94 yards and a touchdown, in a second straight week of football that came down to grinding a win out in the fourth quarter. Lee scored his touchdown in the 4th quarter, in what ended as the game winning score for the Trojans, who improved to 4-0 on the year and 2-0 in Pac 12 play, heading into the Week 5 bye.

                Week 5 Bye

As the unbeaten #1 USC Trojans prepare for Utah, a name of whom we have mentioned before is in the Trojan news again. Coach Lane Kiffin had more positive words for true freshman running back Jared Rush. "Jared has worked incredibly hard and has moved up on the depth chart. He is now our third option after Curtis and Silas."

"I just did what I have practiced all year, and we pulled one out," Barkley said after the game. Coach Lane Kiffin was proud of the will of his team to pull through late once again. "Unbelievable. The grit these guys show is unmatched. I'm speechless." The Southern Cal Trojans are now 6-0 (4-0 in Pac 12 play).

Did the WR you went to USC with make the team, or was that just a story. I didn't see him on the depth chart.

He's buried on the depth chart behind some upperclassmen. He's on the team, I created him on USC before I started. This will get more in depth once I get some playing time. Once I do, Akia Green will be updated too and all of the stats and stuff will be WAY more in depth, I'm just simming games until I see the field. If Green ever gets time before the second season, I'll mention him as well.

Rush plays in first college game!

In a 49-3 rout of conference rival Colorado, true freshman tailback Jared Rush saw his first college game action. With his only carry of the night in the fourth quarter, with all of the backups in, Rush was the ball carrier on an end around handoff from junior tailback Silas Redd. Rush made the best of his opportunity, hitting the corner and dashing down the sideline, breaking one tackle before being taken down 18 yards later. "It was the best moment of my time here so far," Rush said. "I can't wait to prove what I can do further! I am so blessed to have this opportunity!"
Coach Kiffin added, "He has earned that carry, and many more. It's been a long time coming, and I am probably more excited for him than he is. He has the tools to be special."

Although this game was never in doubt for USC, the score does not show it. Leading the way was junior running back Silas Redd with 125 yards and senior quarterback Matt Barkley with 286 yards and 3 touchdowns. True freshman Jared Rush saw the field for six plays, all six passing plays without a target. The Trojans are now 8-0 (6-0).
