The nation's #1 kicker, freshman Harmon Tedesco kicks the game winner with 4 seconds left
Moran & the Mountain Goats are relieved after a near mishap against Iowa Tech
If you like exciting offense and poor defense, this was the game for you. The Goat Pen was filled with screaming Blue Mountain State fans and what they saw was an ESPN Instant Classic. Blue Mountain State was heavily favored, so no one was expecting an Instant Classic, but that's what all 42,000+ fans witnessed under the lights for the first time all year, playing in the C-USA game of the week.
Things couldn't have started out any worse for the Blue Mountain State Goats. On the third play from scrimmage, freshman QB Alex Moran threw a terrible interception on his first pass play of the game. The BMS defense "won" by holding Iowa Tech to a field goal, but things wouldn't get any better for Moran on the next drive. On the very first play of the very next BMS possession, Alex Moran fumbled on an option play to the left. Iowa Tech QB Danny Tharp had no problem making the Goats pay for their second first quarter turnover and Iowa Tech found themselves up 10-0. Moran had two turnovers in five plays.
"Those first couple of drives were really poor. I was slightly concerned with Alex [Moran]. We were finally able to get the ball going in our direction on the next drive, and Moran was like a machine for the rest of the game. I applaud him for not getting down on himself." - Coach Massey
That third possession for the Blue Mountain State offense resulted in a 31-yard Harmon Tedesco field goal, cutting the Iowa Tech lead to 10-3, which is how the first quarter ended. The field goal is in many thanks to a 60 yard pass play from Moran to Waller.
The second quarter started off with an Iowa Tech field goal making the score 13-3. Iowa Tech was loving what they were seeing, but they knew eventually that high powered Blue Mountain State offense had to get going. And get going they did. BMS took their first possession of the 2nd quarter 55 yards on 8 plays, resulting in THIS Craig Shilo touchdown catch and run:

That was Blue Mountain State's first drive where they actually looked like Blue Mountain State. However, the glory wouldn't hang around for long. The Iowa Tech Muskateers star running back Brandon Wegher returned the ensuing kickoff 101 yards for a score. 20-10 Iowa Tech.
As was the story for the majority of the game, Blue Mountain State quickly answered. It took BMS just over a minute to go 78 yards, on all pass plays to get in the endzone again. This time it was Alex Moran finding Jeff Dortch, who had all but vanished in the last few weeks. The score was a 40 yard pass, which can be seen HERE:

The first half came to a close with a score of 20-17, Iowa Tech.
The third quarter saw three total touchdowns. Two for Iowa Tech. The first of Iowa Tech's touchdowns in the third quarter came on their first drive. IT QB Tharp found WR Warner for an 18 yard strike. The other Iowa Tech touchdown in the quarter saw Tech converting on 4 third downs. Tharp took it in himself for the score.
"I was madder than a hornet in water at our defense. I wanted to pull my hair out", said BMS Coach Massey after the game.
Sandwiched in between the two Iowa Tech scores in the quarter was THIS 38 yard bomb from the arm of Alex Moran to the hands of Tony "All I do is make plays" Waller:

On to the fourth quarter
On the first drive of the quarter for Blue Mountain State, Moran lead the boys down the field for a 6 play (all passing plays) drive ending in a James Fraser 7-yard touchdown catch across the middle. That was Moran's 4th and final touchdown of the game. The score at this point had BMS losing 34-31.
Here's where things start to get even more interesting. After Iowa Tech got the ball back a HUGE play occurred, which just so happened to be a turning point in the entire game. Iowa Tech "Mr. Everything offensive player" Brandon Wegher put the ball on the ground and defensive end Tony Lundy takes it to the house for a monster touchdown!! But wait...hold everything. A clipping call against BMS cancelled out the touchdown. Here's a look at the hit that caused the fumble:

Larry Summers puts the big hit on Wegher, jarring the ball free in the 4th quarter
The ruling on the field stated that the Mountain Goats would still get the football after the fumble, but they'd have to start 15 yards further from the endzone. BMS couldn't do much with it, but Tedesco absolutely killed a 53-yard field goal to tie the game at 34. "That kid shows every week why he's leading the nation in 'best kicker award' votes right now" Coach Massey commented.
Iowa Tech got the ball back with just a few minutes left in a tie game. They immediatly gave the ball back to the Mountain Goat defense, and more specifically, fan favorite Thad Castle's hands.

Castle, a freshman sensation, leads the nation in tackles. Here he gets a very important interception that set up the game winning field goal with 4 seconds left
That Thad Castle INT set up Harmon Tedesco for his third field goal of the game, this one the game winner as time expired. Blue Mountain State survives Iowa Tech scare by 3 points.
Final Score: 37-34, Blue Mountain State
