All need that break now and again, hard to keep the motivation up all the time when life gets in the way and the countless hours spent putting reports together and trying to make it all work.

That said, looking forward to seeing what you can do in Iowa, should be a fun journey!

Re: Introduction and Table of Contents

I've found myself lately feeling as though I need a full month in between seasons to just break from the week to week gaming grind.

I play only on weekends, as I am usually able to set aside a good 90 minutes typically on Saturday mornings to get my game in.

But then comes the reporting, and the recruiting, and the typing of game previews and stuff that I do during the weekday mornings when I have a good 45 minutes to myself each morning.

It becomes a grind sometimes and it is nice to get a few weeks during the off-seasons to chill and do other things, play other video games when alone in the mornings, get deeper into others' dynasties, etc. while doing the occasional "off-season" report here and there.

I'll tell you what though, I am really excited about this new story line. That Sugar Bowl loss in a way was a perfect send-off - it showed that Coach Clayton has gotten too big for Idaho and needed to move on. Really anxious for this thing to get started.

Coach Clark Lands in Iowa City

        -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My grandpa's birthday was a couple of days ago. He would have probably
been able to empathize on some level with my strange hobby, though not
entirely. He had hobbies of his own, including being a HAM radio operator.
His handle was "sharecropper," owing at least in part to his roots in the
midwest and the history of our family in the midwest. He loved the mid-
west and greatly admired Native American culture and art. And the Chargers,
        when they didn't suck horribly.

P.s. BDawg rolls over in his e-grave every time a post is edited after posting

Great article and great insight into your grandfather. Well done.

P.S. I'm a serial post editor myself. I have probably edited every dynasty post in my thread at least twice. Haha

It's the little things like newspaper articles formatted into three columns that make me love this dynasty thread. Great little story about your grandfather, as well. I don't comment much but have followed for a while. It's one of the five best dynasty threads on the forums!

Coach who!? hahahah - Well I appreciate the empathy, this can totally be a grind and yet the reward is very strong at least for me and it's this sense of a real world that you get to be a part of. Driving on the freeway thinking about an upcoming game or how the roster is shaping up for next season. Knowing a team better than any you've ever followed in real life. Pretty damn cool.

Yeah I should edit better before I post, but I just don't. The first post is just the first of many edits usually, for me. I do the same thing on Facebook. On there people can see the edits, I wonder if they ever think I'm crazy. lol

Thanks man. Can't wait to get rolling. Still going to be a few days I think but ready to put up the team preview, I think.

Thanks man! I want to do that quite a bit with this one but I need to do a good job of keeping the article short, or possibly switch it to a single line below the first set so it doesn't get hard to follow. I like the way it looks and the readability of it, as you don't have to scroll as much and can read shorter blocks of text. I grew up reading real newspapers and still buy them a few days a week to this day - and find it easier to follow the news that way than being bombarded by my phone or other devices. So newspapers are always going to be an influence for me in the dynasty reports. Thanks for the response and feedback on this particular look. And the huge compliment.

If you guys can reserve the top of the next page for me that would be siiiiiiick

I think you could go 6-6 or 7-5 this year. I don't exactly know each team's skill level yet but based on yours I'd say you'll be about at that level. Good luck!

My bad...looks like I had a brain cramp and mixed up my two favorite dynasty reports' coaches names for a moment.

                            Clayton, Clark...close enough. LOL

Your roster is not as bad as I thought it would be. Obviously QB appears to be a problem area, but you have a nice enough supporting cast around him to perhaps be able to camouflage that position. I'm really excited about the running back Atkinson you have and how he'll look behind what appears to be a solid OL.

Cornerback and kicker are really going to kill you though, especially against the big boys of the Big 10.

If Coach Clark gets the ground game going it could be a good year 1 in Iowa. The Defense may have win some games for you if the running game isn't there.

Happy to see you coming back to this my friend. I, myself, am returning from a hiatus and definitely have the itch. I am really excited to see what you can do with this Iowa program. The Hawkeyes are always one of those teams I always picture as a smash-mouth, pound you in the teeth kind of offense and I am looking forward to seeing that on the field. It seems like the perfect fit for Coach Clark and in many ways makes the story that much richer. Excited for this next chapter.
