Getting His Chance: The Career Of Nicholas Powers on NCAA 14/Madden 25
Hello Everybody! This is going to be the story of my created player, Nicholas Powers. He is going to have to overcome the odds against him and make his dream come true of playing in the pros. I will be posting the story as if I am Nicholas Powers, it will not just cover what happens on the field, but also what happens off the field.
Please do not hold previous works of mine against me, this is going to be the best work that I have put out. So please give it a chance.Tags: None -

Position: ?
Status: Undeclared
Scouting Report: He's an explosive athlete with a short, but powerful build. He has the size and athleticism to excel at most positions on the football field. There is a lot to like about Power's game and skill set, but you just wish he were taller. Whatever position he goes in as, he is dangerous, not just due to his athleticism, but also because of his intangibles and instincts. He has the talent to become the best recruit we have seen in a long time, however first he has to fix a couple of small things in his game.
Strengths:
Speed
Awareness
Versatility: Able to play MOST positions
Weaknesses:
Size
Blocking
Health
Comparison: Nicholas Powers has not been given a solid position yet, he plays as more of a Jack Of All Trades. Whatever position he does get put at, he has a high chance for success. With all that being said I see him and think back to the 1940's and all the Triple Threat Men.Last edited by TheOnlyIThinkJake; 05-16-2014, 08:29 PM.Comment

The First Decision
August 1, 2012
"Come on ladies, pick it up!" Coach Smith yelled at us, trying to make us do our wind sprints faster. He knew that everyone hated wind sprints, which is why he made us do them.
It was the first day of summer conditioning and Coach Smith wanted us to be in perfect shape by the time the season came along. We had come so close to winning the championship last season, he would not accept anything less than a championship win this year.
"Powers, lead the team on a two to three mile run, after the run you need to tell me what position you want to play this year. And take it easy on them powers." Coach Smith said, with a smile on his face.
"Okay Coach." I answered as the rest of the team was lining up, getting ready for the run.
I felt my heart sink, I didn't know where to play and I knew that two to three miles was gonna go by fast. As we neared the end of the run and could see the practice field, two things dawned on me. One there was another team on our practice field. Two I knew where I wanted to play.
"Coach what's going on?" I asked, seeing that the team at our field was the same team we lost to in the state championship.
"I organized a scrimmage for us with Gettysburg. Have you made up your mind about where you want to play?"
"Yes, but can I play two positions?" I asked, speaking with hesitation.
"If you think you can handle it and still perform well, I see no problems with it. So what are your choices?"
"I'd like to retain kickoff and punt return duties, and I would also like to play Wide Receiver and Corner Back."
"Okay, now team go to the locker room, get on your jerseys, and get ready to kick some a**."

Looking good so far. Excited to see how the story line will turn out.
Just a word: I feel like a coach wouldn't pick a favourite, even a guy like Nick. Teammates wouldn't respond well to that, IMO. But looking sweet, keep it up!Comment

You brought up a good point, that I didn't even realize. I'm definitely going to either have teammates react to that or have the coach change how he acts towards Nick.
Thank you once again.Comment

Re: The First Decision
Thanks for the shout out, glad I could help, and I'm excited to see more. Let's hope Nicholas can raise that 2-star rating. Though the #102 recruit in the nation would likely be a 4-star I would say something closer to 1002 would be a 2-star prospect. Maybe he could get into a solid school and make some waves in draft circles as a De'Anthony Thomas-esque guy, but not as talented (or maybe as talented, we'lll have to wait and see).
Following for sure and excited to see what you come up with.
I'm glad you like it.Comment

I'm hoping to get some stuff up soon, most likely tomorrow. I should be able to get plenty done this week, however during the weekend it might be hard to get updates out.

The banner is almost done and expect at least 1 update tomorrow, if not more.Comment

The Scrimmage Against Gettysburg
Getting His Chance Banner.png
August 1, 2012
"Okay guys, I know this is just a scrimmage. But I also want to show Gettysburg that we have changed our game. You guys know the positions, I'll sub in and out as I feel or if you need a break. Now break them out, captains. Good Luck!"
"Archers on three!" Me and the other captains declared.
"One!"
"Two!"
"Three!"
"Archers!" The whole team shouted together.
There I was standing back, waiting to receive the kick. I was nervous about playing new positions, I could feel myself trembling.
The kick was finally off, it was a booming kick. I looked over to our sideline and could see everyone was watching me. I backpedaled and caught the kick about five yards into our endzone.
I took off and made it to the 20 before anyone even came close to me, one juke, two jukes. I was untouchable out there, I was ahead of everyone until one of their players #47 came and pushed me out of bounds. #47 was their star linebacker and was one of the toughest players in the state.
"It's time!" I said to myself, as I was going to take my first snap at Wide receiver.
"What happened Powers?" #47 taunted.
"I thought you were Running Back?" #47 added on, with a smirk on his face.
"I play where they need me and last year Devin(Our team's Running Back) got injured." I responded, not wanting to get into a fight, or smacktalk for that matter.
"Blue 52, Blue 52, Set Hut!" Jake, our Quarter Back Yelled.
I was running a streak, easy enough to run. I was faster than the Corner Back on me and broke free, I was wide open and making my way to the endzone. I waved my hand in the air to let Jake know I was open, then the ball was coming my way.
"C'mon Nick." I said to myself.
Jake threw a perfect pass, it got to me in stride and I dropped it...
"What..." "Dam* it." I said looking at my hands.
I ran over to the sideline and sat down, I watched most of the rest of the game from the sideline, being silent.
"Nick, get in as Corner Back." Coach Smith said.
"You gotta shake it off and redeem yourself on the field." He added on.
I walked out on to the field and lined up, there were 15 seconds left and we were down by 7. I was covering #7 their fastest Wide Receiver.
"Hut!" Their Quarter Back said.
He scanned the field and after seeing no one open came back to #7, figures he would pick on me. I cut back and intercepted the ball.
"Go, Go, Go!" Coach Smith yelled, as I was running down the sidelines.
I scored and then we got the extra point. We had tied the state champions, sure it was a scrimmage, but we still improved a lot.
Then we gathered in a circle for the after game meeting.
"Even though it was a scrimmage it was a hell of a game!" Coach Smith said.
"Now go home an get a good nights sleep." Coach Smith added on.Last edited by TheOnlyIThinkJake; 05-21-2014, 05:29 PM.Comment

Re: Getting His Chance: The Career Of Nicholas Powers on NCAA 14/Madden 25
Good update, like the banner—not to flashy, but it stands out.
Again, I'm going to be a little picky because I'm seeing good updates where just another edit could make them GREAT updates.
#47 is their star linebacker. Star LBs usually play middle linebacker, unless they are blitzing OLBs. Unless you are lined up in the slot, the very close slot, which I doubt you are since you are a fast receiver running a streak route, and he is a OLB, I doubt he is able to talk smack with you. Maybe have it after the play, when Powers has dropped it?
One other thing. If you are generally regarded as the star player, you won't sit on the bench for the entire game, even a scrimmage. Especially if you are trying out multiple new positions. In scrimmages, everyone plays.
Again, just a couple of things I picked up on. Not saying this is bad, not saying it's wrong, just trying to help you a little.
Keep up the good work!Comment

The Depth Chart
Getting His Chance Banner.png
August 21, 2012
"Okay guys, bring it in." Coach Smith said, after practice.
"As you know our first game is in a little over a week, so it's time to announce the official depth chart. Now remember you can move up and down on the depth chart quickly, so always do your best." Coach Smith added on.
Now Coach Smith doesn't do Depth Charts the normal way, he does it player by player and then says what position or positions you are.
I listened to everyone's and clapped for them, but I was waiting to see what I was gonna be playing, I had gotten so much better since the scrimmage.
"Nicholas Powers will be the fifth string Wide Receiver and one of the starting Cornerbacks. He will also be the team's return specialist." Coach Smith said.
"Yes." I thought to myself. I was the returner and I was a starting Cornerback and could easily see playing time as a Wide Receiver.
Coach Smith went on and said everyone's positions and then he was finished. Then we all knew what time it was.
"You guys know what's next, the jersey picking. You know how it works, so let's get started."
Coach Smith's jersey picking was just laying out all of the jersey's and then we picked them. In the order of Seniors, Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshman, if there were any. The only other thing was if two people wanted the same jersey they would have to race for it. That usually never happened, but it has happened a few times.
"Now go get you jersey's." Coach Smith said.
I immediately went to #15 and no one else wanted it, so I was sticking with my number since I started playing Football.
----At His House----
"So, what number did you get?" Dad asked me.
"15 as always." I responded with a grin.
15 had been my father's number from when he started playing sports, until he graduated college.
"On a different subject, it's official Penn State has accepted you. There even leaving the availability of a scholarship open." Dad said excitedly.
"Great." I said, I was excited but I wasn't sure I wanted to go to Penn State. I wanted to tell him, but it had been his dream for me to go to college at Penn State and follow in his footsteps.Comment

The First Day and Game
Getting His Chance Banner.png
September 1, 2012
*Beep* *Beep* *Beep* I rolled out of bed and hit the snooze button.
"Ughhh." I groaned to myself as I got out of bed, it was the first day of school and also happened to be the first Football Game.
"See you Dad!" I shouted to him as I was leaving.
He was watching ESPN as usual.
"Bye." He shouted back.
I walked out of the door and put my bag in the car and started it up. I then started on my way to school.
-----At School-----
"Hey Nick, how's it going?" Jake, the team's starting Quarter Back asked.
"Ready for the game, you?" I said, walking to first block.
"Same." He said.
"Well, see you." Jake added on, as he went to his locker.
I walked into first block and saw Mr.Damon, my favorite teacher. Mr.Damon was my favorite teacher, not only because he helped me in classes, but also because he actually understood me as a person. Mr.Damon was a Spanish teacher, and he had made Spanish my favorite subject. While he was a Spanish teacher, he had a minor in forensics.
"Hey teach." I said, as I sat down.
"Oh, Nick it's great to see you. Are you ready for the game?" He asked me.
"I'm ready, a tad nervous, but ready." I said, saying exactly what I was feeling.
"Well, I gotta go teach a lesson." He said jokingly.
"Okay Mr.Damon." I said.
The rest of the day flew by. Every gameday went like this for me. I kept to myself and the day went by fast.
-----Pre-Game-----
We were all warming up for the game, I was working on running my routes and I was stretching out. Then Coach Smith got us all huddled together.
"Remember guys this is Sir Henry High School. They barely run the ball and had the two best receivers in the state last year. Corner Backs you need to stay focused. And offense watch out for their Strong Safety, Cameron Thomas. He had 13 interceptions last year and 5 forced fumbles. Now Captains break them out." Coach Smith said.
"Archers on three!" Me and the other captains declared.
"One!"
"Two!"
"Three!"
"Archers!" The whole team shouted together.Comment
