Thanks!! The Timberwovles definitely look to be the team to beat this season, especially with the addition of Porter (who will get some playing time this season).

There is still time for anyone to submit a CAP or two. The deadline to submit an application is midnight tomorrow night CST.

I have added both Greyvenstein and Pope to the recruit pool.

2014 Football Conference Changes Take Effect Today
                ESPN.com
                July 1, 2014 - 9:00 AM ET

Conference realignment was in full swing last year, and today is the day when those moves became official for the 2014 football season.

Let’s take a look at the Football Bowl Subdivision conferences that are either adding or losing members for this season.

                ACC
                Incoming:
                Lousiville
                Outgoing: Maryland

Louisville joins the ACC after spending last year dominating Conference USA. They are replacing Maryland, who bolted to the Big 10 this season.

Atlantic: Boston College, Clemson, Florida State, Louisville, NC State, Syracuse, Wake Forest

Coastal: Duke, Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Virginia Tech

                Big Ten
                Incoming:
                Maryland, Rutgers
                Outgoing: None

The Big Ten adds Rutgers, who spent last season as an Independent, and Maryland from the ACC. With the New additions, the Big Ten will realign into new East-West divisions.

East: Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, and Rutgers

West: Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Purdue, and Wisconsin

                Conference USA
                Incoming:
                Connecticut
                Outgoing: Louisville

Conference USA loses its strongest team in Louisville and gains a Connecticut team that won only two games last season. The conference will remain at fourteen members.

Here are the updated C-USA divisions for 2014:

East: Cincinnatti, Connecticut, East Carolina, Marshall, Memphis, UCF, USF

West: Houston, Rice, SMU, Southern Miss, Tulane, Tulsa, UTEP

                FBS Independents
                Incoming:
                None
                Outgoing: Connecticut, Rutgers

After spending a year as independents, both Connecticut and Rutgers found new homes. UCONN became the newest member of Conference USA after Louisville left to join the ACC while Rutgers agreed to join the Big Ten.

Five Things to Watch at Big North Media Days
By Dan Moore - ESPN BNC Blogger and Host of the Dan Moore Show
                    July 17, 2013 - 9:00 AM ET

New York -- Welcome to Big North media days.

After a long off-season, the beginning of the season starts with the arrival of Big North media days. In a few hours, the inside of The Plaza Hotel here in New York City will be turned into a media circus as 1,000 media members from all across the United States and Canada will get a chance to speak with representatives from all twelve teams before casting their ballots at the end of the three day event.

Here are five things to keep an eye on this week in New York:

                    1. National championship expectations: As we enter yet another season, Vermont State is looking to repeat as conference champions, but some around the program believe that the team should aim for a bigger goal: a national title. While some of the media gatherered here believe that the Timberwolves have a chance to get to the national championship, there are those (myself included) that feel that they are one or two pieces away from getting to that point.

                    2. Conference title contenders: Vermont State isn't the only team expecting big things. Rival Providence State and last year's conference champion runner-up Alaska State look to reclaim their spot as the top team in the conference after both were defeated in back-to-back weeks by the Timberwolves en-route to a top 10 finish last season. Both teams will have to break in new quarterbacks as both Adrian Olsen and Alonzo Perez are on NFL rosters.

                    3. Trouble in Billings?: 49ers coach James White is feeling some pressure from those in Billings after last year's team failed to live up to expectations, finishing up at 6-6. With four-year starter Austin Chase graduating and losing most of their starters to graduation, could White's seat get hotter if the team fails again?

                    4. Coaches on the hot seat: Every year it seems that a coach is on the hot seat and this year's no different. Columbia State's Carl Evans name is being mentioned after failing to get the team to .500 last year. He, along with South Dakota Tech head coach Peter Franklin, and Vancouver head coach Chester Moody all underperformed last season. While Franklin and Moody are understandable, Evans is a headscratcher. Nevertheless, all must show some signs of improving or else they and/or their assistants will pay the price.

                    5. Can Goodwin, Phillips keep winning?: Of the three new head coaches that took over teams last season, two had great success: Alaska State head coach Martel Goodwin and Delaware College head coach Travis Phillips. With both teams coming off winning records (and a bowl victory for Alaska State), both teams are expecting more of the same. How will both coaches handle the increased pressure to win?

                            New York --
After last season's successful season in which the program tied a school record for most wins in a season, Alaska State looks to return to the Big North Championship game. Despite losing senior quarterback Adrian Olsen who was third in the conference in passing and senior free safety DeMario Hargrove to graduation, the Bears return nearly every other starter, including senior running back Mickey Newman.

"I feel that we have a good shot to return to the championship game this season," Newman told reporters during his scheduled time slot. "I really like our chances to repeat as Western division champions and hopefully, Big North champions."

The Bears nearly all of their starters on offenes, the exception being Olsen. Bears coach Martel Goodwin discussed the transistion to a new signal-caller after losing Oslen to graduation. The Bears will look to redshirt sophomore Von Hawthorne, who has taken only 83 snaps in his college career.

"I feel that Von will do just fine as the new starter of our team," Goodwin said. "He has been with us for two years now and has a great understanding of the playbook and how our offense runs. While he doesn't have the speed and quickness of Buster (Holiday) or Adrian, I feel that he makes up for it with his arm and good judgement. "

Goodwin, who is entering his second season at Alaska State, has not only maintained the program's momentum when he took over for former head coach Marty Odegaard, but he has succeeded all of the expectations that was expected of him and the team.

Despite all of the successes that last year's team brought the school, Goodwin told the media that no two teams are the same, and that this season's team is different from last year's 11-3 team, despite most of the starters returning.

"We had a good season last year, but this season is a clean slate," Goodwin told reporters. "We can't go into the season expecting it to play out like last season. We got to go out there and take each game one day at a time. Anything can happen during the course of a season, especially when you bring in new players to fill a key spot and expect them to contribute right away."

When asked about the brutal start of this year's schedule, which includes an opening night game against defending national champion BYU, as well as trips to Arizona State and Vermont State with a home game with Providence State wedged in between, Goodwin told reporters that he wanted to make the schedule tougher.

"I felt that even though we had a great season last year, I felt that we could have done more with our schedule," Goodwin told reporters. "After our meeting with Big North Commissioner Tom Vance over the spring about strengthening our future schedules, I felt that we had to make changes. When we received a call about facing BYU in the Cowboys Kickoff Classic, I immediately accepted the offer, as it not only gave us a tough opponent to face, it also represented a good opportunity to showcase our team to the nation."

There are still a few question marks about this year's team: How will Hawthorne fare in his first year as a starter? How good will the secondary be with a couple of new starters, including a true freshman at free safety? Will the brutal front end of the schedule derail any dreams of a chance of a return to the Big North Championship game?

Despite the lingering questions, one thing is certain. This team will be prepared to take on anything that stands in its way.

(Sorry about the long delay. I had a bad case of writer's block, as well as having to work overtime at work for a while. I already got the first few games played and will have them up soon).
