BC has been up and down throughout the dynasty, finishing #2 and winning the Orange Bowl in 2019 but having also had their share of losing seasons as well. This series has turned into a nice rivalry, and I'm excited to finally get to play in Chestnut Hill (2018/2020 were in Foxborough, 2021/2022 were in Hartford).
Second year head coach Dino Babers is doing a great job setting up the program for long-term success, as headlined by a strong recruiting class this past year. BC went to a bowl game last year, and are in contention for another this year behind a veteran offensive unit. Some familiar faces have returned to Chestnut Hill, notably tailback Greg Jones and tight end Courtney Bradshaw, both of whom might be playing in the NFL next fall. Third-year sophomore Cody Blake is in his first year as the starter at quarterback and has played solidly to this point, completing almost 68% of his throws with a 3:1 TD-INT ratio. Their defense has left a little to be desired at times, but junior corner Brad Royal is a future NFL star, and he anchors the unit unquestionably.
I would expect Royal to shut down at least one of our star wideouts, while Nick Taylor is capable of at least taming another. Nickelback Kendrick Sharper may play a large role in the game, as he or either of the safeties will be tasked with challenging Devin Brown, Marcus Rodgers and tight end Alex Paige. Those three receivers may be the main targets with all eyes on Royal.
Mike Molden could be effective against BC’s weakness on the defensive edge. With a handful of decent linebackers, I would not be surprised if BC tried some blitz packages, so our O-Line should be put to the test again. Despite a strong performance from our offense last week, Jordan Brown was still sacked five times.
Our defense struggled to slow down Jones in particular last year, so our D-Line against their rushing attack may be the key to this game. We should be able to win, but after the upset last year, anything is possible.
2022 (PREVIOUS MEETING): BC invaded the loudest house in the East and came out with an upset victory over a UConn team still trying to defend their national championship. Jason Drizianni completes a spectacular 39 of his 45 pass attempts for 345 yards and two touchdowns en route to victory, while BC's defense held UConn to just 23 points. The victory was the first for the Eagles since the rivalry restarted in 2018; BC had won every prior meeting

2018 (THROWBACK SPECIAL!): James Atkins recorded five sacks to highlight a largely defensive minded game, a fixture of the old-school Diaco era. The defending national champs won 21-12 in a game played at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA. Marcus Bradford recorded a pick six as well to help lead the charge. Offenses struggled mightily - BC's Marcus Outlow ran for 100 yards including a fourth quarter touchdown. Ron Johnson was held to under 50 yards rushing while David Hamilton completed just 10 of his 18 passes for 139 yards and a touchdown.

Alumni Stadium gets rowdy when The Killers' "Mr. Brightside" comes on over the loudspeakers. One of the school's newest traditions involves singing along, continuing when the music cuts out around the chorus. I'm not quite sure why this song is the one, but I'll expect to be hearing this at least a few times during the game, even if it's all in my head!

Here's a great clip from the 2017 Red Bandana Game blowout of FSU (credit to the uploader, I wish I had been at this game but I'll remember it for a long time anyway):
Got to utilize Jordan’s talents while we have him, I could easily see him being the #1 pick in the NFL Draft at season’s end. He’s really improved his accuracy and it looks as if his decision making has improved as well (just one interception in four games so far). The biggest question remains how will he fare in pressure situations, down late or when we need a touchdown to put a game away. Guys like Isaac Jackson were awesome in that area, making up for not so great arm strength or pocket presence. Jordan has all the tools that Ice-Jax, Tanner Dean-Lowry, David Hamilton and others never had, so it should be interesting to see what happens. There's no way we'll curb stomp everyone, so he'll need to continue to play well.
We lost a heartbreaker to BC last year in our place, I would imagine our guys will want to return the favor this time. I would expect a motivated squad, but we are still young and streaky and the game should be competitive. Looking forward to getting it up, thanks moose!
