Rule Changes/New Information for season 2

Wanted to make light of some changes I am doing inside the dynasty, stuff that may not immediately affect what you see, but it matters to me. Haha.

      All changes pertain to recruiting.

      - Inspired by Gronk4M13, I am letting the computer do all recruiting (except for scheduling visits) moving forward. It provides a challenge, and ensures I don't go over the 70-man limit on accident or on purpose. I do still plan to do those recruiting graphics throughout the season.

      - I am going through and changing skin tones/equipment of freshmen kickers and punters. It really, really irks me that so many kickers/punters that are CPU generated are African-American, that just doesn't happen in real CFB, at least much. I will leave a couple guys with the different skin tone (dark/medium), but I will go through and change a lot of that. In addition, I am removing the ridiculous equipment the generated kickers/punters receive (towels, handwarmers, sleeves, etc.). That really bothers me as well.

      - For each recruiting class going forward, I will rename a certain number of recruits, just to give some diversity to the name pool. I figured I could do this seeing as how the first and last names of our recruits in real CFB are only getting more and more, um, unique. I will make sure to change names of at least a few of UConn's commits each season.

If you're changing recruit names you should change a 5* RB to Devin Bolton for me. Just for sh-ts and giggles. I had a running back I drafted in madden 12 forever ago that was a total beast for me. Ended up being a 99 overall in his third year for me

Winning against BYU is huge for Coach Diaco. Does he plan on leaving UCONN?

Done. I'm going to rename around 50-60 guys, so I'm obviously open to suggestions.

            He's on to Missouri. Haha.

No, it's way too early to assume Diaco is going anywhere. He may move well down the line, but not for several more seasons.

                  The Unsung Hero

Stephens' huge defensive plays key second straight upset

Meet Omaine Stephens. The reserve came off the bench due to injury and was the key to victory.

On days when you need big plays, it's always the guys you underestimate to make the biggest plays.

Malcolm Butler in the Super Bowl, the glue on Tyree's helmet, etc.

Today, the biggest plays came from reserve linebacker Omaine Stephens.

                  Brief Bio on Omaine Stephens:

Redshirt junior, New Jersey native, special teamer for his first 2 years seeing action. Upon entering the game, had 0 career tackles.

                  I think we got it.

Stephens, who came in in place of an injured Marquise Vann (he'll rest up over the bye week and be good to go for Week 4), opened the game up by making 2 big plays that swung the momentum really quickly and arguably put the game out of reach for Mizzou.

After pulling out to a 17-10 lead at the half, UConn went on defense to start the second half. Not even 5 seconds into the 3rd quarter, Maty Mauk attempted an option pitch. Which failed terribly.

After a few failed dives from members of each team, it was Stephens who scooped up the fumble, saw there was no one on him, and ran it back 16 yards for the score, putting UConn up 24-10, and giving them a lot of breathing room on a day where the offense would struggle a bit.

Sean McQuillan was the recipient of Bryant Shirreffs' first TD pass.

However, Missou would get back in the game, as Mauk and the offense raced downfield and scored on a Nate Brown screen TD barely a minute after the UConn defensive score.

With about 3 minutes in the third frame, UConn had a good chance to stretch the lead to two scores again, and Bryant Shirreffs got the Huskies inside the 30. But on a 3rd and long, Shirreffs overthrew Brian Lemelle, and right there to make the INT was Ian Simon, giving Missouri a chance to possibly tie the game.

                  But they didn't.

Stephens (who else?) was right there, and picked off Mauk on the first play of the Missou drive. He sure has a thing for the first play, eh?

UConn could only muster a field goal, but still pushed the lead to 27-17. Missouri's Andrew Baggett responded with a field goal of his own, but left Missouri with only a slight deficit entering the fourth quarter.

Incidentally, the Tigers forced UConn into a 3 and out, and they appeared to have the momentum finally shifted to their side.

                  But it didn't.

Logan Cheadle fielded the punt cleanly, ran out to the left, but got blasted by Junior Joseph, and Graham Stewart recovered.

UConn managed to get in the end zone courtesy of Thomas Lucas, and swelled the lead back to 14.

After a pair of 3 and outs, Missouri had a chance to tie as time was ticking down, and quickly drove inside the 5 yard line with a buck 30 to go.

The UConn D stuffed Russell Hansbrough and Mauk 3 times, and Sean Culkin, who torched the UConn secondary all game, dropped a wide-open touchdown in the end zone on 4th down, resulting in a turnover.

Max DeLorenzo, who sort of quietly racked up 123 yards on 24 carries, ran out the rest of the clock, as he had done so effectively all day, and locked up UConn's second upset in as many weeks.

Sure, UConn is off to their best start in.....forever? I think?......but we still have a long ways to go. Let's not get too over excited just yet. But there is no doubt that the sky's the limit in 2015.

                  #RiseUpTogether.

                  See ya in 2 weeks.

Considering we haven't a 100 yard game on the ground in this dynasty prior to the game, we are all are having a good season.

I wouldn't say rolling, but impressive nonetheless. I am still a little worried about Navy and Army coming up, but we have a great shot to perhaps run the table if we can stay healthy.

This is seriously drawing shades of my ancient Kentucky dynasty on these boards, I went 5-7 my first year, then went 12-2 and won the National Title in Year 2...

Certainly looking that way. A bowl appearance is looking very likely..

College Football's Muscial Chairs not yet over? UConn to ACC latest rumor

Many college football fans and analysts assumed that when Navy joined the American and UMass went back independent over the summer, college football's rousing round of realignment would finally be over with.

                              Boy, were they ever wrong.

With Notre Dame apparently having ties to the ACC (in basketball, contrary to previous reports not yet in football), the ACC has been reportedly looking to add a 16th team, in hopes that Notre Dame would finally join as a full-time member. Those rumors have collected our very own UConn Huskies.

It seems odd to imagine that UConn would only be involved in these rumors because they have knocked off two ranked teams in consecutive weeks, but what other reason is there for the ACC to reach out to UConn? Besides basketball? The rivalry with Boston College in the Atlantic Division for football may be neat, and the basketball program would clearly add strength to the conference. TV revenue would tremendously increase. It seems good for UConn, but is it the best move for the ACC as a whole?

According to Fox Sports reports, A.D. Warde Manuel has confirmed the ACC has contacted him about membership, though the discussions have been "very casual" to this point.

UConn has made it no secret since the Big East split in 2013 that the school has wanted out, as has Cincinnati, the second of three remaining holdovers from the old Big East that still remain in the AAC (South Florida being the other).

Which brings us to the second rumor.

As Cincinnati has been looking for new membership elsewhere, this leads us to the Big 12. The Big 12, down to 10 members since the start of realignment in 2010-11, has openly admitted to wanting to get back to 12 teams. Cincinnati is ideally the best fit athletics-wise outside of a BYU, who is likely not to budge at least for a few years in the independent ranks.

However, does the geography work out for both sides? Cincy could be a natural rival to West Virginia, and this is the conference that has been reportedly open to extreme isolation in expansion talks (Boise State, BYU) in the past. So is it really a ridiculous move?

Houston is another rumor to the Big 12, as the program is right in the heart of the competition along with the conference's other 4 teams in Texas already. But despite winning the American, the football program may suffer from the move.

Which leads us to the final rumor. If Cincy, UConn and/or Houston were to move, the American would need to tap into another conference for members.

Would Army, whose football program experienced a renaissance last year, be a good fit with Commander-In-Chief rival Navy and the remnants of the old Conference USA?

But the big question is if the American were to suffer attrition once again would be if they try to get back to 12 teams. Do they perhaps take a team like Marshall or Old Dominion and make the old Conference USA in a different conference?

At this point, it's anyone's guess what happens. Just like the first round of realignment. Because the music just never stops.

Please do it! We've been jipped more than our fair share of times by the ACC when they took over BC, Miami, and Virginia Tech over UConn, and then again when they stole Louisville. It came down to Louisville or UConn, and was decided by which football team had more promise.
