On an unrelated note, did Alabama really lose to Colorado State?
I truly can not believe Ohio and CMU are ahead of BGSU in MAC play. Never in my wildest dreams did I envision Mazzone and Freday 0-3. Incredible.

If Bama didn't lose, would the pic be in the highlight reel? I can't believe they are 1-2 personally.

It is crazy the BGSU is 0-3. They're always leading the MAC in every dynasty I've played.

WOO-HOO! Some HUGE wins for our CAC's this week. Sadly, Freday is floundering right now. I'm personally excited for that unbeaten showdown next week between Rice and Army. The Owls have looked incredible in wins over in-state enemies Texas and Baylor, and Army is good every year. Winner has a great chance to be ranked come next week.

          Slammed and Stirred

          UConn annihilates Golden Hurricane

With the momentum UConn had after a big out of conference win against Virginia last week, how much can a 38 point win get me?

A rowdy crowd at the Rent helped UConn cruise to a 51-13 defensive masterpiece.

Junior Joseph led the charge for that defense with 6 tackles and a pair of INT's, as they flustered Dane Evans all game long.

But the most interesting part of the blowout was that UConn's offensive production came via the arm of Bryant Shirreffs. The junior, out last week after just a few plays, came back strong, firing 4 TD's and 309 yards.

Arkansas transfer Damon Mitchell had a breakout game, catching 5 balls for 145 yards and a pair of scores. Tight end Tommy Myers had a great day, with 5 catches, 65 yards and a TD.

Tailback Josh Marriner only had 61 yards on 21 carries, a rare off game for UConn's ground game this season.

The rout was on right before the half, as Bob Diaco elected to go for it on 4th down, 20 yards away from the endzone with 5 seconds to go and no timeouts.

Because it was that kind of day, UConn converted, Noel Thomas was able to make the TD grab to put the Huskies up 27-3 at the intermission.

From there, it was all UConn.

Mitchell's 44 yard TD snag made it 34-6, and Bobby Puyol's field goal made it 37-6. Marriner, despite his poor day on the ground, did have 2 TD's, and ran in the second on the first play of the 4th to push the lead to 44-6.

Though Evans got a TD pass to go to Bishop Louie (8 catches, 119 yards), Tulsa had nothing on UConn's defense. Jon Hicks and Joseph both had INT's in the 4th quarter to put the game out of reach.

Though Tulsa didn't have a ton of highlights today, the best play perhaps of the game belonged to freshman safety Brandon Kaplan, who was able to dive after Myers dropped a Shirreffs pass, and Kaplan snagged it on the ground with one hand. Though Tulsa couldn't capitalize, it was a phenomenal play nonetheless.

Thanks, glad to see you still here! It was a big confidence booster for our D and Shirreffs, without a doubt. I messed up, we have a bye next week, but we should be well prepared for the next leg of AAC play. At least we can check in on some recruiting tomorrow.

As for BG, it gets worse I hate to say.

                Husky Recruiting Watch

It's that time of year! Today we'll take our first look at recruiting for the class of 2017 for our UConn Huskies.

The biggest need facing UConn this year is finding a QB. Bryant Shirreffs is here one more year, but backup Tim Boyle is graduating this spring. Backup Jarrett Rivero is not ready for such a role. With that, UConn has their eyes on 3 potential replacements for Shirreffs in 2018.

The best option is Elite 11 QB Corey Blount, among the top 100 prospects in the nation this year.

While UConn is quickly falling behind in this recruiting race, coach Bob Diaco doesn't seem as interested as one would figure in a 4-star prospect. Is there some hidden baggage in Blount? We'll find out eventually, but it looks like Houston has the edge on their in-state prospect. We'll see a lot of him if he commits there.

The second option for UConn is 3-star prospect David Hamilton. The elusive Maryland native has won 2 state championships and is looking for a 3rd. He has the heart of a champion, but may need some more time to develop at the college level with his average arm. Regardless, if he commits (it's only a matter of time at this point) he'll be the top option as Shirreffs' backup next fall.

Another possible backup is Druid Hills, Georgia's Isaac Jackson. The 6'2 slinger does need more time, but with a bit of patience he can either be a really good backup or a decent starter. UConn has to fend off Utah St, Troy and East Carolina for Jackson's commitment.

Hamilton appears to be the guy in Diaco's eyes, but we'll see what happens.

Fringe 4-star athlete Tim Reid (3 by some sources) has committed to Auburn. The projected lineman committed over UConn's bye week, and Diaco seemed a little disappointed. However, Diaco does have a backup in Sam Rourke.

The blue chip Californian Rourke is still mulling his offers and has indicated the race is still wide-open between Clemson, UConn, Utah St., and North Carolina. Rourke is figured as the 2nd or 3rd best defensive lineman in the class of 2017, and has a chance to start immediately if he commits at UConn.

                      Defensive stampede

UConn up to 4-1 with another defensive gem

The UConn defense has picked a damn good time to come out and play.

With their second straight convincing AAC win, UConn is now up to 4-1 and is starting to roll in AAC play.

The Huskies made it look easy through the air, racing out to a 17-0 lead early in the first half, punctuated with a 34 yard strike from Bryant Shirreffs to Damon Mitchell.

In this span, Memphis missed a pair of field goals and really dug a hole for themselves on offense.

Paxton Lynch was able to keep the game from becoming a blowout, as his 30 yard TD run cut the lead to 17-7, and the Tigers D came up big, robbing Shirreffs twice before the half, the second a great diving INT by B.J. Ross in the end zone right as the clock hit 0 to stave off another UConn score.

Joey Elliott finally got a field goal to go for Memphis after the half to make it close, 17-10.

But Shirreffs got the ball rolling once again, firing passes to Dhameer Bradley, Tommy Myers and eventually Mitchell before hitting Josh Marriner for the 14 yard TD catch.

UConn could never quite shake Memphis completely away, but were lucky to get a Jamar Summers INT in the back of the end zone in the early stages of the 4th quarter.

UConn proceeded to race downfield, as Shirreffs completed 4 straight passes and Ron Johnson capped off the clinching drive to take a commanding 31-10 lead, and wrap up the game.

It was a bit of a struggle for the run game once again, as Marriner only got 96 yards, and most of the offensive production came from Shirreffs' arm once again, as he shined for 377 yards and a pair of scores.

But once again, it was all about the defense. Their timely stops allowed UConn to make a few mistakes on offense and get the kinks out. I'm loving what I'm seeing, as UConn is now up to 4-1 and looks to continue their hot streak against ECU next week at the Rent.

I don't want to quote your post from before, so I'll just respond to your point.

Yeah, I'm still here. I've been really busy and it just doesn't feel like football season. With all of the basketball going on, I've been playing NBA 2K15 right now when I do play XBOX, which is not often right now. When I start to miss football, I'll get back into my dynasty.

^^^ Same here. Been busy with school, and haven't been motivated to update. I've really gotten into hockey lately, and have had a good time playing NHL 12 on the 360. Not really a basketball fan, so that just leaves me more time for hockey.

I've got the Orange Bowl played for Tulane, and it's Super Bowl week in my Outlaws franchise. I'll be updating those this week.

I agree with both of your points, I have dipped to other games as well, though I'm still having fun playing this dynasty. Kind of why I started my March Madness 06 dynasty in the basketball section, and I'm having fun playing a game in-season. Popped MLB 06 The Show into the PS2 today, and dug out an old NASCAR game. I have MLB 15 The Show ordered and arriving this week, so I'll be playing that a lot too in my spare time. Definitely lots of options, but this isn't going anywhere.

Regardless, I have been busy as well being this late in the school year (especially the past 4-5 weeks), and I'm anxiously awaiting the start of golf season this week. Have to wait another 2 weeks for spring break this year, but we get out early in June, so I'm lucky on that front.

And no rush to you guys in updating, I'll gladly hold the fort for the time being . You'll both get back into the swing over the summer, I'm sure.
