So, Uh, UCF lost. (THANK YOU SOUTH FLORIDA!)
I'll run down a full list of clinch scenarios tomorrow when I have my list of conference games in front of me, but basically we can win the AAC only if UCF loses and we win. Fingers crossed!

Here to serve. Haha. Odd part is, we still have a chance to win the conference. Go figure...

That'd be nice, we were predicted in the Beef-O-Brady's Bowl (Bitcoin St. Petersburg) vs. Middle Tennessee. But a lot can change between then and now. We'll see...

          -------
Going to be another short post, wanted to get this up earlier in the week before I forgot the highlights. But, not a lot to say about this game anyway. I'll try to get as far as possible this weekend.

          ...Not Quite

UConn falls just short in chance to clinch AAC Title, finish 6-6

Paxton Lynch proved to be nearly unstoppable today, through the air and ground.

Gold star for effort right? Going 5-3 in conference counts for something positive considering where we stood in the beginning of October, right?

But I'll admit it, I feel slightly disappointed, partially because we couldn't win on senior day, but also because UCF lost. Cincinnati lost too. Therefore, Houston will win the 2014 AAC Title. Yeah.....

It was a shame, as UConn didn't really play well at any point in the game, and couldn't grab the lead on offense. Thus, there isn't a lot to say here. Tim Boyle threw 4 more INT's to generally hurt the offense more than help it.

On top of that, some crummy defense, especially in the second half, tremendously helped Memphis.

The crummy defense wasn't just limited to the second half though. Sam Craft caught a short pass in the first quarter, that turned into horribly missed tackles and a 61 yard touchdown followed. Brandon Hayes' 41 yard TD run, coupled with Boyle's 5 yard run and really crappy dive into the end zone helped make the game 17-10 at the half.

The game really got out of hand in the third, when Paxton Lynch, lucked into receiving the ball at the 38 after a pair of INT's from both sides (John Green and Charles Harris). Lynch, not typically a runner (See game preview), rolled free to the left, broke two tackles, and somehow no UConn defender ended within a mile away from Lynch. The 38 yard TD scamper gave Memphis a 24-10 lead, and pulled away from there.

Boyle panicked, Memphis got another Lynch TD run and sealed the game, the 34-19 win. With it, Memphis will finish 4th in the AAC, and UConn, due to overall record, will fall to 5th.

But hey, gold star for effort, right? Hope to see you in a bowl game. Thanks to the seniors.

                Full Champ Week Results

C-USA: Marshall def Louisiana Tech 45-13
MAC: NIU def Bowling Green 24-17 (OT)
MWC: Boise State def Nevada 38-21
ACC: Louisville def Virginia Tech 28-14
Big 10: Michigan def Wisconsin 27-20
SEC: South Carolina def Alabama 28-24
                PAC-12: Oregon def UCLA 31-14

                --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UCLA's Jordon James has won the 2014 Heisman Trophy. James led the Heisman Watch standings most of the year, and though he didn't crack 1000 yards on the ground, he had great receiving numbers to make up for that.

Note Byron Marshall of Oregon finished 2nd, 500 points behind James. Marshall had a huge 200 yard game for the Ducks in their Pac-12 Title game win over the Bruins, and managed to pass his teammate, Marcus Mariota.

Mike Davis of South Carolina finished 3rd, Jay Ajayi of Boise State finished 4th, and Taysom Hill of BYU rounded out the top 5.

Mariota, Jameis Winston, Brett Hundley of UCLA finished 6th-8th, Virginia Tech corner Kendall Fuller placed 9th, and Alabama's QB Blake Sims finished 10th.

The inaugural College Football Playoff Bracket will be released tomorrow (or later today in this case).

6-6 UConn left out of bowl game

Rumors leaked by sources close to UConn A.D. Warde Manuel have been confirmed this morning, and UConn has not been invited to a bowl game in 2014. The 6-6 Huskies started 1-3, but finished 5-3 to give themselves a chance at the American Conference title. However, the loss to Memphis on senior day did more to hurt UConn than help, and as a result the Huskies will miss a bowl for the 4th straight season.

                    Manuel on the news:

"It's a shame we couldn't get an invite this year, I tried pulling some strings but it wasn't just meant to be."
The American will send 4 teams to bowl games this year, conference champion Houston is off to the Poinsettia Bowl to play Colorado State, Cincinnati will play Middle Tennessee in the Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl, Memphis is going to the Zaxby's Heart of Dallas Bowl, and UCF will play Northwestern in the Birmingham Bowl.

A full list of bowl matchups, including the playoff bracket, is coming up next.

I love that photo. I think we have potential for next year, hopefully we can get to some sort of bowl.

But just a fun fact from my past 'chises. My first one I did on here with Kentucky, I went 5-7 in my first season. We went 12-2 and won the National Title year 2.

                        Just maybe...

Thompson's heroics guide Gamecocks into CFP Final

South Carolina, much like Oregon, needed a rally to beat #3 Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl and will advance to the College Football Playoff Final off an instant classic.

Dylan Thompson overcame a 21-7 halftime deficit and capped a heroic go-ahead drive with a 4th and 15 conversion inside 1:30 to go, scrambling out to the left, shaking off a pair of tackles, and diving to get the first down. Thompson completed the drive by firing the winning TD pass to Pharoh Cooper with 15 seconds left. The Gamecocks will meet Oregon in two weeks for the National Title.

I only did a few plays, took the picture(s) I needed, then simmed the rest. Thompson made a helluva comeback, that's for sure.

                                CFP Finals Recap

Rose Bowl; Oregon 42, South Carolina 24

Oregon jumps out to early lead, cruise to first National Title

Oregon has captured their first ever National Championship, defeating South Carolina in the first ever College Football Playoff 42-24.

The Ducks raced out to a 28-10 halftime lead on the strength of Marcus Mariota's 4 TD passes, and never looked back, coasting to a 42-24 victory over the SEC's Gamecocks. Mariota, named MVP of the playoffs, threw for 5 TD's with no INT's, and ran for 66 more yards on the ground.

Dylan Thompson threw 3 picks to Ifo Ekpre-Olomu in the first half and that really deflated S.C. Congratulations to your 2014 College Football Champions, the Oregon Ducks.

                                Mark Helfrich celebrates.
