Chutes and Ladders~ An RTG/CCM story

    Hello everybody,
You may have heard of my RDS (restarting dynasty syndrome) and I finally started a dynasty I have yet to restart so, here goes nothing.

I started playing this RTG on Sunday and finished my high school and freshman seasons in one day, therefore I'm going to try and catch up on all my needed posts in 4 days so we can start my Sophomore season on Friday.

Hopefully everyone who reads enjoys and leave suggestions.

I sat in my school's locker room, 30 minutes before my first Varsity high school football game. I felt my stomach churning, just wanting for the wait to be over. A few teammates walked by me, wishing me luck but I just remained focused. I would stare blankly at the floor, visualizing what I was going to do. My cuts would be perfect, my spin move on point and my speed would be too much to handle for the league's worst defence.

When kick-off arrived I stood on the sideline watching my teammates fly downfield making a high speed tackle on small, lightweight, poor opponent. I knew my chance would come when the "d" got a stop, and sure enough they forced a 3 and out.

I lined up at the 45 yard line and waited for the ball to come my way. As it sailed towards me I saw my gap. I ran through a massive hole that my blocker's had set up and ran all the way down for a touchdown, my first on this very young season.

          After the game.

I remained in the locker room long after the rest of the team had left trying to recreate tonight's performance in my head. I hadn't had an incredible game but a game that I knew was a good start. I had finished with 21 carries for 106 yards with 4 touchdowns (3 from inside the 10) and 8 receptions for 74 receiving yards through the air. I knew football is a sport of incredible highs and incredible lows but for now, I felt on top of the world...

              September 19th, 2012

When school had finally ended, after a boring science class, all of our team ran downstairs, right to our team bus waiting by the front entrance to the school. We had a 3 and a half hour bus ride to this small town in the middle of nowhere called Hampton, for our second game of the young season. Our school gets out at 3:30 and the game starts at 8:00 so I saw our O-linemen run faster than I'd ever seen them before making sure they wouldn't get left behind.

When we had all crammed into the bus, I settled on a seat near the back of the bus, next to our Right End Alex Swanson. Me and Alex had been friends since 1st grade. We'd played football in the fall together and Baseball in the spring. When we realized we'd be starting on Varsity, it was one of the greatest days in our friendship.

After talking for about a half an hour, I tried to fall asleep against the window while Alex kept talking about something incredibly loudly. When I finally did fall asleep it seemed like only a minute before Alex woke me up say we had arrived.

When we finally got onto the field with a 45 minute warm-up, everything looked crisp. Our blue and red jerseys shined under the Friday night lights with parents and fans looking down on us. During warm-up I sat on our bench, contemplating to myself the thoughts of school and life. However, I quickly realized that I was playing a sport I loved and nothing else mattered right now.

              At Half Time

When we came into the locker room at half, we were up 9-3. A safety in the first quarter game us a 9 point lead before they stormed down the field to kick a field goal a minute before half. At that point I had a very quiet game, only 27 yards on 11 carries with 2 receptions for 14 yards. I was upset because of my poor performance and apparently it showed on my face. As we were heading back out coach called me in. He told me not to worry about my first half, I just needed to play better the second half and we'd get out of here with a win.

To begin the third quarter, Hampton came out scoring a touchdown on 2 plays, giving them a 1 point lead in the third. When I went out with the offence, I focused on doing the little things right, and I did. A 4 yard gain, then a 10 yard gain, another 7 yards. Before we knew it we were inside field goal range. After settling for 3 our defence held their ground, forcing a punt. Sure enough, we added more points, cementing a 15-10 win in our favour.

              After the Game

As we piled onto the bus, I thought about my game. I was trying to be a hero when the team didn't need me to be one. Just as I was dozing off to sleep, I got a text from my dad basically congratulating me for my game, etc. All in all, another good day to be playing football.
