This is probably more appropriate for a private message, but if I can pull off your old posts is there somewhere you would want me to dump them to you? Would this be beneficial or something you want?

Heck yes! If I was able to get those, I'd post every single post from that thread onto this site, a site I KNOW ain't going anywhere.

I'll PM you my email address.

      Thanks!

Game 12, Year 10 (2019 season): #7 Tulane Green Wave at Southern Miss Golden Eagles

RIVALRY GAME: THE BATTLE FOR THE BELL

        #7 35 -- 10-2
        NR 42 -- 8-4

With under a minute to go and Tulane attempting to mount a game-winning drive, QB Preston Fields attempts a screen pass to RB B.J. Johnson, however the pass gets thrown too far in front of Johnson and is intercepted by Southern Miss LB Anthony Muhammad. The sophomore then breaks a tackle attempt by Johnson and returns the pick 27 yards for the game-winning touchdown, giving his team a 42-35 lead with just 0:47 remaining.

SOUTHERN MISS LB MUHAMMAD RETURNS INTERCEPTION FOR GAME-WINNING TOUCHDOWN AS GOLDEN EAGLES STUN RIVAL TULANE IN 42-35 UPSET

Senior linebacker picks off screen pass and takes it to the house with just 0:47 to go in a wild finish at rainy Hattiesburg | Two 4th quarter turnovers mar outstanding performance by QB Fields, cost Green Wave their first loss to Southern Miss since 42-35 defeat in 2010 | Golden Eagles run roughshod through Wave defense, amassing 215 yards and 3 touchdowns on the ground | Suddenly slumping Tulane now limps into SEC Championship contest versus Florida next week in a game 7 rematch

Hattiesburg, MS -- Ten years ago, in his debut season in New Orleans, first year Tulane head coach D. Geezy's Green Wave fell to Conference USA rival Southern Miss 42-35 in an overtime game at the Superdome on their way to finishing the year with a 4-8 record. A decade later, with his team now a national powerhouse SEC program and the defending BCS national champions, history repeated itself on Saturday, as the Golden Eagles got a big defensive play in the closing moments on their way to upsetting the 7th ranked Wave 42-35 in rainy Hattiesburg. In a back and forth game that featured 32 fourth quarter points and several moments for both teams that looked like either may run away with a blowout, Southern Miss got the final big play, sending the once top-ranked Green Wave to their second loss in three games.

After getting a big defensive stop to force a punt and get the ball back with 1:02 remaining at his team's own 13-yard line and with the scored tied at 35-35, Tulane QB Preston Fields attempted a screen pass to RB B.J. Johnson, a conservative play-call in most instances. However the pass would get thrown a moment too soon and end up thrown too far ahead of Johnson and intercepted by Southern Miss LB Anthony Muhammad and returned 27 yards for a touchdown which gave Southern Miss the lead for good with just 0:47 to go. Muhammad finished the game with 4 tackles and 1 sack to go along with his game-winning interception return for a touchdown.

Southern Miss RB Nate McFadden carried the ball 18 times for a game-high 178 yards and 2 scores on his way to winning Player of the Game honors.
The Green Wave would get the ball back with one last opportunity to tie the game again and drove all the way down to the Southern Miss 45-yard line. But with 0:08 to go, facing a 4th and 19 following a sack, Fields' would get heavy pressure from blitzing Golden Eagles freshman nickel back John Sanders, got hit as he threw, and watched his desperation deep pass attempt to WR Ryan Jean fall several yards short to the turf, handing his team their first loss to a non-BCS conference school since 2013 and also their first regular season non-conference loss since 2013. In fact, the loss versus Southern Miss was Tulane's first non-conference regular season loss since returning to being a member of the SEC in 2014.

It was a very good day up until the fourth quarter for the redshirt senior Fields, who reportedly was in jeopardy of losing his job to currently-injured redshirt freshman QB Jimmy Williams if he had a bad showing. Fields responded to the challenge by going 26 of 43 for 454 yards and 4 touchdowns, but it was his late interception that will be remembered in the hearts and minds of Tulane fans, along with a costly fourth quarter fumble that led to another Southern Miss touchdown.

The game got off to a poor start for Tulane, as they surrendered an opening possession touchdown by Southern Miss when QB Shannon Wilkerson found TE Brett Gould, matched up one on one versus Wave LB Bret Johnson, streaking down the sideline for a 55-yard touchdown to take an early 7-0 lead. Wilkerson would later hook up with WR Ronald Sapp for a 7-yard score, giving the Golden Eagles a 14-3 first quarter lead.

The Green Wave would get back in the game when they got a gift late in the second quarter. With his team driving and seemingly in control of the game, Wilkerson exited the game with a bruised sternum with 1:19 remaining in the first half. Backup QB Blake Williams entered the game for the Golden Eagles, and threw an interception to senior LB David Reid on his first and only pass of the day. The Wave would take over possession and go on a quick 5-play, 31-yard drive which culminated with a touchdown pass from Fields to TE Roger Battle that cut their team's deficit to 14-10 with 0:14 to go until halftime. USM led at halftime despite throwing 3 first half interceptions in total (Wilkerson 2, Williams 1).

Tulane would finally claim the lead when Fields found Jean down the seam for a catch-and-run 94-yard touchdown on their very first possession of the second half that made the score 17-14. The pair would hookup again for a 10-yard touchdown minutes later, extending the Green Wave lead to 24-14 and seemingly putting them in control. It was at that point that the USM running game began to take over.

After the two teams traded punts, Southern Miss RB Nate McFadden exploded for an 80-yard touchdown run to cut his team's deficit to 24-21.

Following a Tulane field goal on their ensuing possession that made the score 27-21, RB Kevin Morgan got in on the act for Southern Miss. The redshirt sophomore backup runner busted through two tackles and cruised 60 yards for a touchdown, giving his team the lead at 28-27 with just 5:45 to play. The pair of Southern Miss backs finished the game with a combined 248 total yards on only 22 total carries.

On the very first play of the Green Wave's next possession, Fields was pressured and got hit from behind by Ole Miss LB Stanley Dunbar and dropped the football, and the untimely fumble was recovered by DE Robin Parker deep in Tulane territory. Four plays later, McFadden scored his second touchdown of the day, this one from 2 yards out, extending his team's lead to 35-27 with 4:49 remaining.

Golden Eagles backup RB Kevin Morgan's 60-yard touchdown run on this handoff gave USM a 28-27 fourth quarter lead with 5:45 remaining.

"It just felt like an avalanche of mistakes today in the fourth quarter," said Geezy.

"Give Southern Miss credit though, they made plays when it mattered, overcame the elements, and got the W."

On the Golden Eagles next drive following a Tulane punt, Wilkerson would fumble an option pitch on 3rd and 4 with 2:55 to play, and it was recovered by Reid, giving Tulane the ball back at the USM 39-yard line. On the very next play, Fields hooked up with Jean again, this time for a 39-yard touchdown, and the ensuing two-point conversion pass to WR Larry Woods was successful, tying the game at 35-35 with 2:48 remaining. Jean, a Heisman candidate, finished the game with 9 receptions for a career-high 262 yards and 3 touchdowns on the day.

Tulane got a big sack on Southern Miss' next offensive possession by sophomore DE Paul Byrd which set up a 3rd and 19 near midfield. McFadden would get stuffed after an 8-yard gain on a screen pass, forcing Southern Miss to punt and give Tulane the ball back with 1:02 to go, but all that did was set the stage for Muhammad's late heroics.

"I am sick to my stomach over this loss," said Geezy.

"I am very disappointed with several areas of this team. Defensively we cannot stop the run. Offensively we cannot pass block to save our lives, we can't run block and create holes, we're putting the ball on the ground way too much...this is very frustrating and quite frankly I don't have an explanation. This is not Tulane football.

"If we can't run the ball or stop anyone and we have to throw for 400 yards to stay in games or to win games, we're going to be nothing but an average, .500 team. Clark Kent ain't walking through that door anytime soon to save the day with a magic fix; we have got to get this thing figured out, even if it means making significant changes. I will not accept this level of performance and repeated mistakes; I am disappointed and I am fed up."

The Green Wave (10-2, 7-1) will have to quickly lick their wounds as they will face #5 Florida next week in the SEC Championship Game at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. Tulane, then ranked #1 in the country, defeated the then-5th ranked Gators 27-24 at home in week 7 of this year, via a 48-yard field goal by PK Alex White as time expired.

Re: Coach Geezy in the Big Easy: Our City, Our Team | Part II - The Golden Age of Tul

I did not see that coming. I feel old that I actually remember that loss to Southern Miss back in the day. If we could combine your passing attack with my run game, we might have one complete offense haha.

It was sad to see Fields great day marred by the ending. Sometimes screens get jumped. I have to say I have been pulling for the senior all season. I know I ask every week but are you going to stick with him for the championship game?

The play in the trenches has been concerning on both sides of the ball and I would imagine that is something that is going to have to be addressed in the offseason. I know recruiting has been tough but any hopes on that front?

Hope you can pull off the win over Florida, a win there would salvage the season. Hang in there my friend!

That's a hell of a memory my friend, remembering a video game someone else played over 5 years ago! But that just goes to show how loyal of a reader you've been.

This was definitely a rough, unexpected loss. I don't know what's gotten into this team lately. We are playing AWFUL! It's like the CPU has stepped its game up or something. We have won a lot a close games this year though, so maybe our once stellar record was a mirage and we're not as good as I once thought.

As for the Fields/Williams saga, we'll just have to wait for the injury report. I didn't even think to look to see if Williams is still on there or not. I will check it out the next time I fire the game up in the next day or so and update his status later. He was questionable last week, hopefully he's been upgraded.

I think our personnel on the OL and DL is sufficient. I just think I need to play better and do a better job calling plays. I also think our inability to run the ball has a lot to do with our sack numbers. We're dropping back way too much. Boy do I miss the likes of Reggie Moore and Brett Curtis. I really took them for granted it seems!

I must say, my confidence is very low suddenly. If we play the way we've played the past 3 games, Florida will avenge its week 7 loss and blow us away. Stay tuned!

Very tough loss with a good Florida team looming Geezy. Surprising to me to see the wheels kind of fall off the bus in the second half after the really strong start. Hopefully you can salvage some sort of momentum in the SECCG/a bowl game, even if it has become somewhat of a lost season at this point.

Yeah I don't know what's gotten into this team. It's as if the CPU has watched the film and figured us out on both sides of the ball.

This collapse has been frustrating. Even the game we won against 2-8 Ole Miss was tough.

Oh well, guess losing now will make winning later that much more fun.

                  Thanks for checking in!

Tulane | QB Fields to start in SEC Championship Game
                      Fri, 6 Dec 2019 7:14:07 -0700

                      report courtesy Britt McHenry, ESPN.com

Britt McHenry of ESPN.com reports that Tulane head coach D. Geezy indicated to her that redshirt freshman QB Jimmy Williams (86 overall) was very limited in practice once again this week as he is still not fully recovered from his torn pectoral muscle. Williams will again be listed as "questionable," and redshirt senior QB Preston Fields (81 overall) will once again start in his place in this week's SEC Championship Game versus #5 Florida. Williams will serve as the team's third, emergency quarterback this week.

Geezy also indicated that even in the event that he does decide to switch starting quarterbacks, Williams will not be allowed to play until he is able to practice fully. Williams, who has missed all or part of every game since week 2, returned from his injury three weeks ago in the team's 62-27 loss at Arkansas, but suffered a setback to the same injury which has lingered ever since.

Tulane | Team will wear all-green versus #5 Florida
                      Fri, 6 Dec 2019 7:29:09 -0700
Tammy Nunez of the New Orleans Times Picayune reports that Tulane will wear its alternate, all-green jerseys for their SEC title clash versus #5 Florida this weekend. Traditionally only worn during his tenure for rivalry games at home, Tulane head coach D. Geezy indicated that the team is wearing all-green for motivational purposes this week at the urging of senior members of the team, as the Wave has lost 2 of their last 3 contests.

Florida will wear their white jerseys and orange pants.

Tulane | Team wants to re-emphasize running game
                      Fri, 6 Dec 2019 9:30:13 -0700
Tammy Nunez of the New Orleans Times Picayune reports that the Tulane Green Wave will place a strong focus this week on its running game, hoping to get back to the basics in an effort to help eliminate turnovers and help its suddenly struggling defense.

According to several team sources, it is expected that RB Bernie Davis (82 overall) will see his heaviest workload of the season in this week's SEC Championship Game versus Florida. Speedy back-up RB B.J. Johnson (77 overall) is not expected to get as many touches as he has in recent weeks, as the team has grown wary of his issues fumbling the football as well as his issues with dropping passes out of the backfield.

                        GAME PREVIEW

                        Courtesy

2019: PK Alex White's 48-yard field goal as time expired allowed then-#1 Tulane to prevail over then-#5 Florida in a 27-24 comeback
                        victory this season.
Last Meeting: Earlier this season, then top-ranked and undefeated Tulane faced a 24-10 late third quarter deficit but got 2 second half touchdown passes from QB Preston Fields and a 48-yard field goal from PK Alex White as time expired to defeat then-#5 Florida 27-24 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Fields finished the game 21 of 31 for 272 yards and 3 touchdowns. Freshman phenom WR Ryan Jean ended the day with a season-high 11 receptions for 202 yards and 1 touchdown, which came with :11 remaining in the third quarter from 43 yards out and cut his team's deficit to 24-17. The win improved the Green Wave's record to 7-0 and dropped Florida to 5-1 on the season.

2017: Senior RB Reggie Moore had a big game in his final audition before winning the Heisman Trophy; here he lined up
at wide receiver and hauled in a 43-yard touchdown reception.
Last Meeting at Venue: These two teams met in the 2017 SEC Championship Game in Atlanta, Georgia, a game Tulane won 41-31 to improve their record to 13-0 before eventually falling to USC in the BCS National Championship Game a few weeks later. After trailing at halftime, Wave CB Tommy Andrews' 28-yard interception return for a touchdown on the very first offensive play of the third quarter gave his team a 20-17 lead, a lead they'd never relinquish. Green Wave QB Jamie Manning completed 14 of 25 passes for 344 yards and 3 touchdowns with 0 interceptions and RB Brett Curtis chipped in with 14 carries for 98 yards, including a 63-yard fourth quarter touchdown with 4:01 remaining to extend Tulane's lead to their final 10-point victory margin. Eventual Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Moore finished the game with 204 all-purpose yards and 2 touchdowns on the day (5 carries for 62 yards + 5 receptions for 83 yards and 2 touchdowns + 59 kickoff return yards) and FS Dre Harris finished with a game-high 16 tackles to go along with 1 sack. The Wave won despite then-sophomore Florida QB Tyler Skinner finishing 36 of 51 for 450 yards and 2 touchdowns and giving up over 500 yards to the Gators in total offense.

I like the move to stick with Fields. I know he has had some rough games in weeks past and don't ask me why but heck i am pulling for the senior. Hopefully the reemphasis on the ground game will help take some of the load off of him. It looks like Florida is missing some of their front seven so hopefully the right of your line can get a good push.

Aside from Skinner, I am not all that wowed by Florida's skill players on offense. I like the matchup of your secondary on their wide receivers.

Time to bring home another SEC title!

Yeah, the game has kind of given me a convenient excuse to keep Fields in; I'm really surprised this pectoral injury has lingered for so long with Williams, but at the same time, it has sort of a "realistic" feel to it, especially since he had a setback when he came back for a game.

I did some stat analysis of previous seasons and also the beginning of this year and it became crystal clear that I needed to get back to the running game. A good ground game keeps the clock running, limits chances for mistakes, and keeps their offense off the field. My D has been putrid this year and I think a big part of the reason why actually lies on the offensive side of the ball with me passing too much and giving the opponents too many offensive plays.

I need to get back to power football like I used to have with the thunder-and-lightning combo of Reggie Moore and Brett Curtis back in the day.

Thanks for checking in man...can't wait to get this game in tomorrow!

Game 13, Year 10 (2019 season): #15 Florida Gators vs. #5 Tulane Green Wave

                              #15 48 -- 11-2 (8-1)

TOP ROW: Freshman CB Nate Hall's 26-yard interception return for a touchdown made the score 17-7 and Florida never recovered. | BOTTOM ROW: Redshirt senior QB Preston Fields' play-action pass to freshman WR Ryan Jean resulted in an 81-yard touchdown that made the score 48-14.

                              BACK TO THE BASICS

Steady running game and turnover-free football helps Tulane surge past Florida 48-14, win SEC championship | QB Fields, RB Davis, and WR Jean each post huge games versus overwhelmed Gators defense | After slow start, Green Wave opens up a can of "whoop" in 24-point second quarter burst, blows away Florida team that they defeated by only three points earlier this season | Team will host the Sugar Bowl at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome for the second time in five seasons

Atlanta, GA -- The Tulane Green Wave limped into Atlanta having lost two of its last three games, nearly losing all three of them in fact. However, Green Wave head coach D. Geezy came up with a more simplified game-plan focused on running the ball, eliminating mistakes, and winning the time of possession battle which allowed his team to blow away #5 Florida 48-14 Saturday night in the SEC Championship Game.

RB Bernie Davis took full advantage of Coach Geezy's run-oriented game plan, rushing for 116 yards and a touchdown on his season-high 29 carries.
Starting RB Bernie Davis, who to this point had mostly struggled to find yards or get into any sort of rhythm in Geezy's typically pass-first offense, rose to the challenge, carrying the ball a season-high 29 times for 116 yards and 1 touchdown. It was just Davis' second 100-yard game of the season, as he spent most of the season splitting carries with redshirt senior RB B.J. Johnson, who was limited to just 4 carries on the day.

"We made the determination earlier in the week that Bernie is a guy that gets better as the game wears on and we decided to keep feeding him and quite honestly, B.J.'s issues with fumbles and dropped passes also played a role in that decision," said Geezy.

"We thought it would be very important to establish the run early, which keeps our defense off the field and puts us in fewer situations where we need to take risks. We ended up possessing the ball 24 minutes and 5 seconds and they ended up at 11 minutes and 55 seconds, so we basically had double the time they had. The running game success also opened up several play-action opportunities."

Indeed it did, as QB Preston Fields and WR Ryan Jean hooked up for two deep passes off play-action fakes in the game, including a back-breaking 81-yard fourth quarter touchdown to help put the final nail in the Gators' coffin. In one of his most efficient performances of the season, Fields finished the game 17 of 27 for 305 yards with 4 touchdowns and no interceptions.

Jean, a Heisman front-runner, finished the day with 7 receptions for 162 yards and 2 touchdowns. His aforementioned fourth quarter touchdown gave him 19 on the season, which moves him past former Tulane RB Reggie Moore (18 touchdowns, 2007 season) for most touchdowns in a single season by a member of the Green Wave. The freshman sensation is expected to attend next week's Heisman Trophy Presentation Show in New York and will be one of the top favorites to win the coveted trophy according to most experts.

Florida (11-2, 7-2), whose only two losses this season both have come to Tulane, took an early 7-0 lead when QB Tyler Skinner found WR Michael Whitaker for a 34-yard touchdown on just the Gators' second possession of the game. But that was about all that went well for Florida in the first half.

In his final audition before next week's Heisman Trophy ceremony WR Ryan Jean hauled in 7 receptions for 162 yards and 2 touchdowns while also eclipsing former Green Wave Heisman winner Reggie Moore in the school record books when he hauled in his 19th touchdown reception of the season.

Behind two touchdown passes by Fields along with a 26-yard interception return for a touchdown by blue chip freshman nickel CB Nate Hall (giving him 9 interceptions and 2 touchdowns this season), Tulane would score 24 straight points in the second quarter to go into halftime with a 24-7 lead. The scoring barrage would continue in the second half, as the Wave again outscored Florida 24-7 in the second half.

The game played out much differently than the two teams' week 7 battle that ended up with Tulane winning 27-24 via a last second field goal by PK Alex White, and Geezy credits his team's attention to detail and refined approach.

"We did some very deep analytics work this week and in the end we knew we'd have to stop the bleeding with the turnovers. Over the past decade, this team has been at its best when we establish the run. Whether it was (former Wave running backs) Albert Williams, Orleans Darkwa, Joey Roberts, Reggie Moore, or Brett Curtis, we've always run the ball consistently here and that made everything else work. I got a little pass-happy and got away from that as a play-caller and that's on me.

"In practice we focused almost exclusively on the running game and our blocking schemes and teaching our backs how to follow blockers and look for keys on the defensive side of the ball. Everything just came together perfectly, and now we're SEC Champs once again.

"We ran the ball, we stopped the run, and we didn't turn the ball over...Tonight was vintage Tulane football and this formula will win you over 90% of your games consistently."

Tulane (11-2, 8-1) has now won five consecutive SEC titles, which comes directly after rival Alabama had won the previous five. The Green Wave will play in the Allstate Sugar Bowl, which means the team will play host in a BCS Bowl at their Mercedes-Benz Superdome for the second time in five seasons, the last time coming when they defeated the Virginia Tech Hokies 38-21 in the 2015 Sugar Bowl.
