LA OWNERSHIP GROUP LED BY ICE CUBE AND SNOOP DOGG BUY RAIDERS FOR $850 MILLION

The Raiders are moving to LA, and with an unconventional ownership group to go through with the move. The NFL today approved a sale of the Oakland Raiders to the SDI Group, which is led by rappers Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube. Snoop and Ice will likely be heavily involved with the team, as both are football fans, while Ice is actually a Raiders fan. Snoop Dogg, who's made his allegiance to the Pittsburgh Steelers well known said "Guess i'm a Raiders fan now." It will be very interesting to see how the Raiders are run from now on

The Raiders had a somewhat quiet but very productive free agency period, picking up plenty of young talent. The team signed OLB Larry English, who had 80 tackles and 5.5 sacks for the Chargers last year to a 5 year, $11.5 million dollar deal. They also signed C John Sullivan to a 5 year, $12 million dollar deal, and WR/KR Jacoby Jones to a 5 year, $8.5 million dollar deal. The Raiders most interesting signing was Rahim Moore. Moore, who was a 2nd round pick by the Broncos last season, missed the entire year with an injury, but shows plenty of promise. The Raiders inked him to a 4 year, $14 million dollar deal despite heavy interest from the Pittsburgh Steelers and Carolina Panthers. GM Tom Gamble was quoted as being "Beyond excited" about the Raiders' signings

        RAIDERS FLEECE BILLS, DRAFT JEFFERY.
Oakland Raiders GM Tom Gamble pulled off quite the coup at the NFL Draft, trading the Raiders' 3rd pick to the Buffalo Bills for their 5th pick, a first rounder next year, and a 3rd rounder. The Bills used the pick to select RT Addison Lawrence, while the Raiders selected WR Alshon Jeffery from South Carolina, the guy they wanted all along and was pegged to them in countless mock drafts. The Raiders selections were:
Round 1, pick 5: Alshon Jeffery, WR South Carolina
Round 2, pick 3: Darron Thomas, QB, Oregon
Round 3, pick 3: Kevin Ziegler, G, Wisconsin
Round 3, pick 5: Vinny Curry, DE, Marshall
Round 4, pick 3: Josh Oglesby, RT, Wisconsin
Round 5, pick 3: Mychal Kendricks, OLB, Cal
Round 6, pick 3: Louis Nzegwu, DE, Wisconsin
Round 7, pick 3: Cyrus Gray, RB, Texas A&M

          QB CONTROVERSY-THOMAS OR CAMPBELL?

Jason Campbell wasn't bad for the Oakland Raiders last season. But, he wasn't that good either. So, the team decided to bring along Darron Thomas in the draft. The 2nd round pick out of Oregon is a phenomenal playmaker, as he can make plays on his feet or with his arm. During training camp, coach Hue Jackson was very impressed with the way he played, saying "Darron could very well be a franchise QB in the future with the way he played the past couple of weeks, his ability to avoid the rush is one of the best I've seen." Later, when asked who would start at QB for the Raiders, Jackson responded, "We'll figure that out in the preseason."

                      JONES SHOW
Taiwan Jones stars for Raiders in CRAZY game

If you told me yesterday morning that the Raiders would've dropped 38 points on the Ravens, I would've called you. crazy. If you told me that Taiwan Jones would run for 221 yards on 24 carries with 3, yes 3 TD, I would've driven you to a mental health facility and checked you in. And if you told me that Darren McFadden would have 131 receiving yards, well, I don't know. Oh yeah, and Sebastian Janikowski would miss 2 FG's and an extra point? It was an absolutely crazy game in Baltimore in which the Raiders came up on top 38-23 in which they put up 564 yards of total offense. The scoring was started with 5:56 left in the 1st quarter when Taiwan Jones busted through the defense for a 75 yard drive, which was shortly answered back by the Ravens on a Joe Flacco 1 yard strike to Ray Rice. However, after Darron Thomas lost 12 yards on a sack trying to avoid the rush, the very next play Darren McFadden took a screen 94 yards for a TD. The 2nd quarter started off with 4 scoring drives by the Ravens, with an Ed Dickson TD followed by 3 Billy Cundiff Field Goals. But with 32 seconds left in the 1st half, Darron Thomas saw Jacoby Jones break free over the middle and hit him for a 86 yard TD pass (One of the only bright spots for Thomas (6-13, 258 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT) who may have lost his starting job to Jason Campbell who replaced him when he left the game with a wrist injury. The rest of the game was all Raiders and all Taiwan Jones. In the 3rd Taiwan ran one in from one yard and then 42 on the next possession. He showed breakaway speed, which is his main asset, and a surprising amount of power, with 6 (by my count) broken tackles and 46 yards after 1st hit. On Defense, the Raiders racked up 4 sacks, while new acquisition Larry English provided exactly what the Raiders needed with speed and strength on the outside, as he racked up 5 tackles (2 for a loss) and a sack. $55 million dollar man Alshon Jeffery only had 2 catches for 22 yards, But the Raiders got the W. And that's all that matters.
