Re: The N"If"L - A Look into the Future of an Alternate NFL

    NFC South

Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Last Season 6-10

The Buccs are going to continue to struggle in a tough NFC South. They are however improving behind 2nd year QB Jameis Winston. Wide Receiver Mike Evans is also a bright spot but the offence is still hamstrung by a weak offensive line. The same cannot be said of the defensive front however, which is amongst the best in the league. Gerald McCoy is joined by DE Casey Heyward from Pittsburgh and 1st round pick DT Answer Gutierrez. Their star is undoubtedly Lavonte David, who did leave in free agency only to have a change of heart and return to Tampa. Their secondary is going to have a rough season, a tough proposition considering the strength of their divisional opponents

Notable Resignings - OLB Lavonte David
Notable Additions - DE Casey Heyward
    Notable Losses - None
Draft Pick - LT Andrew Gutierrez

Atlanta Falcons - Last Season 8-8

This Falcons team will most likely live or die on the production of Matt Ryan and Julio Jones. 1st round pick Scott Turner slots in to start at right tackle and will need to play at a high level out of the gate with starting centre Chris Myers leaving town in the off season. Lance Briggs has resigned on defence and is joined by marquee free agent Bobby Wagner from Seattle. Trufant is still an elite corner, but the Falcons could use an improved defensive line in the near future.

Notable Resignings - LB Lance Briggs
Notable Additions - WR Mohammed Sanu, MLB Bobby Wagner
Notable Losses - C Chris Myers (team)
Draft Pick - RT Scott Turner

New Orleans Saints - Last Season 10-6

The Saints could well be an under the radar team this season, a 10-6 record last season and a first round exit, this team may do better. Drew Brees continues to be the heartbeat of the offence and can count on contributions from the solid duo of Cooks and Mark Ingram. Defensive end Cameron Jordan will need to be a nuisance, and new signing Jonathan Joseph at corner will also need to hit the ground running. The key to the season will be how far an above average offence can carry an underwhelming defence. That will be a task for new head coach Bryan Gurley.

Notable Resignings - LB David Hawthorn
Notable Additions - CB Jonathan Joseph
    Notable Losses - None
Draft Pick - SS Derron Scott
    New Coach - Bryan Gurley

Carolina Panthers - Last Season 11-5

Defending Superbowl champions Carolina didn't make many waves this off season, instead focusing on keeping their core together. Newton and Benjamin are quickly developing into stars, and an offensive line that was once derided as poor is quietly becoming very strong, especially on the interior. MLB Luke Kuechly is perhaps the best at his position in the NFL, Josh Norman is returning and the Panthers took an already impressive linebacking group and added a 1st round pick to it. This team remains primed to win now.

Notable Resignings - FB Mike Tolbert, CB Josh Norman
    Notable Additions - None
    Notable Losses - None
Draft Pick - OLB Taylor Patrick

      NFC East

Washington Redskins - Last Season 5-11

The Skins continue to be a team in flux. Robert Griffin III is now done, his hit and run case was dismissed but it was enough for the organisation to cut ties with him. More importantly, Ryan Kerrigan publicly voiced his displeasure at the regime in Washington and elected for free agency. Kirk Cousins did resign at quarterback, but may well get beaten out in camp by Washington's 2nd round pick (#38 pick overall), Mike Stark. Whoever starts at QB will have the luxury of All-Pro quality left tackle Trent Williams, but the rest of that line isn't good enough. Tight End Jordan Reed is also the only real weapon on offence, both receiver and running back are below standard. Kerrigan's departure has also left this defence without a leader, DT Terrance Knighton may be the best player they have on that side of the ball. #6 overall pick Gorden Gooden will need to replace Kerrigan, and fast.

Notable Resignings - DT Terrance Knighton, QB Kirk Cousins
      Notable Additions - None
Notable Losses - QB Robert Griffin III (legal), OLB Ryan Kerrigan (team)
Draft Pick - OLB Gorden Gooden

Philadelphia Eagles - Last Season 8-8

As they say, one man's trash is another man's treasure. In this case, that applies to Robert Griffin III. The Eagles signed him during free agency after his nightmare in Washington. It is no sure thing that RG3 starts though, the Eagles also handed Sam Bradford a hefty contract. Perhaps that was more insurance for RG3, we shall no doubt see once the season progresses. The Eagles were quiet during free agency, electing instead to resign Cox, Kendricks, Alonso and Sam Bradford. Those resigns provide Philly with a tough looking defence, but they could stand to add a corner or two sooner rather than later. DeMarco Murray continues to be a work horse in the backfield for the Eagles.

Notable Resignings - DE Fletcher Cox, MLB Mychal Kendricks, MLB Kiko Alonso, QB Sam Bradford
Notable Additions - QB Robert Griffin III
      Notable Losses - None
Draft Pick - WR Latevin Preston

New York Giants - Last Season 8-8

With Coach Coughlin retiring from the NFL, the Giants quickly moved to replace him with Marvin Lewis after his departure from the Bengals. The first order of business for Lewis should be to upgrade an aging and overmatched offensive live, a clear weakness on this Giants roster. This issue may be negated by a solid looking Eli Manning being able to throw any type of pass for a completion to the top 5 wide out Odell Beckham Jnr. Despite struggles at tackle and guard, the Giants selected a defender in the middle of round 1, the talented Javien Travis will need to justify that selection. There was also mixed news at defensive end, with star player Vin Curry resigning, whilst Jason Pierre Paul's run ins with the law were too much to provide him with a new contract, he ended up in free agency.

Notable Resignings - DE Vin Curry, CB Prince Amukamara, WR Reuben Randle
      Notable Additions - None
Notable Losses - DE Jason Pierre Paul (legal)
Draft Pick - OLB Javien Travis
      New Coach - Marvin Lewis

Dallas Cowboys - Last Season 10-6

The Cowboys did what they needed to do during the off season to keep a strong roster together. Dez Bryant pledged his future to the club, as did defensive end Greg Hardy. It wasn't all good news as Rolando McClain left the organisation after failing to settle in the Dallas area. Tony Romo continues to enjoy explosive weapons on offence, with Des Bryant to throw to and potentially one of the best offensive lines in the league in front of him, right guard Zach Martin could be the best at the position right now. Hardy's return lifts the Cowboys defence to a high level along with stalwart linebacker Sean Lee. The only question mark is at the safety position, an area for improvement.

Notable Resignings - WR Dez Bryant, DE Greg Hardy
      Notable Additions - None
Notable Losses - MLB Rolando McClain (family)
Draft Pick - RT Ali Starks

        NFC West

St Louis Rams - Last Season 4-12

The Rams are quietly improving their roster, which is a shame considering the number of high draft picks they have thrown at it, this should be a more noticeable process. Their current roster moves include cutting the troubled Nick Fairley and allowing Janoris Jenkins to walk after his public disaffection with the state of the Rams roster. Losing that pair isn't as cutting when you consider that Aaron Donald is perhaps the leagues best defensive tackle, and Robert Quinn could be the leagues best defensive end. Corner and safety are also quietly above average. Rookie QB Herschel Robinson (R2 P5) could well start for the Rams this season alongside the developing Todd Gurley. Outside of TE Jarred Cook, Robinson will have few weapons at his disposal.

        Notable Resignings - None
        Notable Additions - None
Notable Losses - DT Nick Fairley (team), CB Janoris Jenkins (roster)
Draft Pick - OLB Ty Thomas

        San Francisco 49ers - Last Season 8-8

There has been a lot of movement this off season in the Bay. Left Guard Alex Boone has left the organisation after his legal troubles, a tough blow for a solid unit anchored by left tackle Joe Staley. Carlos Hyde should be the focal point of this offence that is sparse at the skill positions. The biggest free agent signing of the summer could have been Von Miller's decision to wear the red and gold next season. He and DT Dontari Poe will need to hope that their additions are enough to lift the quality of a mediocre defence.

Notable Resignings - TE Vernon Davis
Notable Additions - OLB Von Miller, LG Kelechi Osemele, DT Dontari Poe
Notable Losses - LG Alex Boone (legal)
Draft Pick - RT Luis Young

Arizona Cardinals - Last Season 9-7

No team has had a busier summer than Arizona. 14 of 19 potential free agents left the organisation, but wide receiver Malcolm Floyd was one of the players to resign. As predicted, Carson Palmer retired, leaving a void at QB. Determined to take the next step in 2016, the Red Birds spent big in free agency. QB Russell Wilson, RB Chris Ivory, DE Jason Pierre Paul and OLB Nigel Bradham will all be at the University of Arizona Stadium next year.

Notable Resignings - WR Malcolm Floyd
Notable Additions - QB Russell Wilson, RB Chris Ivory, DE Jason Pierre Paul, OLB Nigel Bradham
Notable Losses - QB Carson Palmer (retired - age)
Draft Pick - CB Brenton Griffin

Seattle Seahawks - Last Season 11-5

The Seahawks remind me of a former model, desperate to cling on to her beauty as time slowly takes it away. The Seahawks continue to lose players that took them to back to back Superbowls without being able to adequately replace them. The latest players to leave were Bobby Wagner and Russell Wilson, neither of which could agree to terms. Bruce Irvin did stay and will anchor a defence that can still boast Earl Thomas, Cliff Avril, Kam Chancellor and Richard Sherman. The offence features a strong o-line and running game from Marshawn Lynch. TE Jimmy Graham will look to regain the form that saw him be so influential in Seattle. He may struggle to do that with Chase Daniels under centre however.

Notable Resignings - OLB Bruce Irvin
Notable Additions - C Chris Myers, QB Chase Daniels
Notable Losses - MLB Bobby Wagner (team), QB Russell Wilson (team)
Draft Pick - DT Jermichal Jordan

          AFC North

Pittsburgh Steelers - Last Season 8-8

The Steelers were easily the best last placed divisional team in the NFL a year ago, their 8-8 record would have tied them for winning the AFC South! Pittsburgh's only notable loss was defensive end Casey Heyward, but that blow should be softened on offence by the continual development of superstars LeVeon Bell and Antonio Brown. A solid o-line starring centre Mike Pouncey should help keen Ben Roethlisberger healthy and productive.

Notable Resignings - CB William Gay
          Notable Additions - None
Notable Losses - DE Cameron Heyward (city)
Draft Pick - CB Dorian Austin

Cleveland Browns - Last Season 9-7

Cleveland fully embraced the Johnny Manziel era last year and reaped the rewards. Unlucky to miss the playoffs, the team remained largely inactive during the off-season. Josh Gordon moved on from the Browns as expected, but safety Tashaun Gipson resigned. Cleveland's progression could ultimately be stunted by a lack of talent at WR and RB, but their offensive line is strong. Gipson and Joe Haden star in a reasonable but not great defensive unit.

Notable Resignings - FS Tashaun Gipson
          Notable Additions - None
Notable Losses - WR Josh Gordon (team/city)
Draft Pick - RT Mack Moss

Cincinnati Bengals - Last Season 10-6

The Bengals refuse to break their hold on the NFL's "Bridesmaid" title, continuing to make the playoffs without much success from there on. Marvin Lewis paid for their latest failure with his job, replaced by highly recruited college coach Carlos Calhoun. Cincy's main order of business was to secure the right side of their strong offensive line, locking up Kevin Zeitler and Andre Smith to new deals. Defensive end Carlos Dunlap is a star, and he will be joined next season by the equally skilled Mike Daniels, creating easily the best DE pairing in the league. Not content with that, the Bengals lured Ryan Kerrigan from Washington and Janoris Jenkins from St Louis, making a strong unit even stronger.

Notable Resignings - RG Kevin Zeitler, RT Andre Smith
Notable Additions - DE Mike Daniels, OLB Ryan Kerrigan, CB Janoris Jenkins
          Notable Losses - None
Draft Pick - WR Gilbert Mills
          New Coach - Carlos Calhoun

Baltimore Ravens - Last Season 12-4

Attempting to follow up an AFC best 12-4 campaign, the Ravens haven't had the best offseason. Wide Receiver Steve Smith has retired and there is little to replace him at the position. Starting left guard Osemele left in free agency, but fortunately right guard Marshall Yanda resigned. All told, Joe Flacco will have very little to work with next season and that could hurt the Ravens. The Ravens defence did remain intact however, with DT Timmy Jernigan and LB CJ Mosley set to shine on an above average unit. Cornerback may be their biggest worry.

Notable Resignings - RG Marshall Yanda, K Justin Tucker
          Notable Additions - None
Notable Losses - WR Steve Smith (retired - age), LG Kelechi Osemele (roster)
Draft Pick - WR Malcolm Narcisse

Jacksonville Jaguars - Last Season 4-12

The narrative for Jacksonville continues to be the development of Quarterback Blake Bortles. Is he the long term solution for the Jaguars, or do they need to move on? I see signs of improvement, and having WR Allen Robinson to lean on is certainly a good move. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the Jags O-line and run game which both continue to look sketchy. Losing TE Marcedes Lewis after a bust up with Coach Bradley won't have helped matters. Defensively the Jaguars will continue to lean on last year's tackle leader MLB Paul Posluszny. Jacksonville will be hoping that pairing #4 overall pick OLB Patrick Hunter with Posluszny will create a formidable duo.

Notable Resignings - DE Ryan Davis, QB Chad Henne
            Notable Additions - None
Notable Losses - TE Marcedes Lewis
Draft Pick - OLB Patrick Hunter

Houston Texans - Last Season 8-8

1 of the trio of teams log-jammed at the top of the AFC South last season, the Texans feel like a team that aren't far away. Their roster contains some glaring weaknesses (o-line, Brian Hoyer at QB, lack of a strong safety), but there is also serious star power dotted around as well. Arian Foster at RB continues to shine, as does developing receive Deandre Hopkins. Duane Brown is a formidable left tackle despite Houston's o-line struggles. On defence, JJ Watt needs no description, Brian Cushings is a solid linebacker and Rahim Moore is a presence at safety. Free agency has been quiet in the lone star state though, only Jonathan Joseph was a notable free agent. The addition of top TE prospect Jared Lucas with #10 pick in the draft is worth monitoring.

            Notable Resignings - None
            Notable Additions - None
Notable Losses - CB Jonathan Joseph
Draft Pick - TE Jared Lucas

Indianapolis Colts - Last Season 8-8

You can't talk Colts football right now without mentioning Andrew Luck. A superstar in the making, he is unhappy at Indianapolis and had to be franchise tagged this off-season to keep him around. The Colts face a dilemma, let him walk or try and move him. The QB situation is sure to be top of the agenda for new Head Coach Tomas Single after Chuck Pagano was shown the door after missing the playoffs last season. Reggie Wayne has retired, Coby Fleener has left to organisation, and the job of keeping Andrew Luck happy appears ever more difficult. The team opted to go with defence in the off season, picking up a couple of veterans in LB Derrick Johnson and DE Robert Ayers to play alongside #11 pick FS Connor Blalock. His development as a DB is sure to be aided by the presence of all-pro corner Vontae Davis.

Notable Resignings - QB Andrew Luck (franchise tag), WR TY Hilton
Notable Additions - DE Robert Ayers, OLB Derrick Johnson
Notable Losses - WR Reggie Wayne (retired - age) TE Coby Fleener (team)
Draft Pick - FS Connor Blalock

Tennessee Titans - Last Season 8-8

Marcus Mariota appears to be a great fit for the Titans. The offence should revolve around him for a number of years after a solid season last season. More weapons would help, but that is often the case. Kendall Wright has resigned, he is a valuable target at WR. Adding talented line backer Parker Taylor with the #21 pick in the draft was a shrewd move, especially with Casey and Orakpo creating pressure from the front 7 on a frequent basis.

            Notable Resignings - None
            Notable Additions - None
            Notable Losses - None

New York Jets - Last Season 4-12

There isn't a team in the league with more cap issues than the J-E-T-S. The Mark Sanchez era is firmly in the rear view mirror, and now so is the Geno Smith era, handing the keys to #2 pick Jack Riley. He will be placed behind an aging o-line that needs some fresh faces, but he can count on the dependable Marshall and Decker combo at receiver. The same can't be said of running back Zac Stacey. Defensively the only question mark is at OLB, the team made it a priority to resign DT Damon Harrison and DE Muhammad Wilkerson. CB Darrelle Revis continues to be an elite player at his position.

Notable Resignings - DT Damon Harrison, DE Muhammad Wilkerson
Notable Additions - RB Zac Stacey
              Notable Losses - None
Draft Pick - QB Jack Riley

Buffalo Bills - Last Season 9-7

The reward for a solid season for this Buffalo team was a low draft pick and no place in the playoffs. That'll be tough to conquer again this season but the Rex Ryan does have a number of players who can help. Sammy Watkins and Percy Harvin are a quality receiving tandem, and the backfield duo of FB Jerome Felton and RB LeSean McCoy should be reliable on the ground. This defence might not be well served playing in a 3-4 scheme as they lack the pass rushers at the 2nd level to really create pressure. Mario Williams is a better 4-3 player. Safety is another question mark position, 2013 draftee Bacarri Rambo was released due to legal reasons and will not return.

Notable Resignings - LT Cordy Glenn, CB Stephon Gilmore
              Notable Additions -
Notable Losses - SS Baccari Rambo (legal)
Draft Pick - DE David Boone

Miami Dolphins - Last Season 10-6

The Dolphins expected a deep playoff run this season and didn't get it. As such Head Coach Joe Philbin paid with his job and Mike McCarthy is now at the helm. Whilst McCarthy will be expected to take his offensive expertise to a lackluster Dolphins unit, the defence should take care of itself. DT Suh and DE Wake are 2 of the premier players at their positions. They will be relied upon for both tackles and pressure as there isn't much behind them, especially at corner. This should still be a top 10 defence though. Jonathan Dwyer is slated to start at RB and the 'Fins should really look for an upgrade, Lamar Miller left the team after expressing disappointment at the coaching situation.

Notable Resignings - DE Oliver Vernon
              Notable Additions - None
Notable Losses - RB Lamar Miller (coach)
Draft Pick - WR Quinterrius Scott

New England Patriots - Last Season 10-6

What more can be said about the Patriots at this point, they are a consistent powerhouse within the league and that is unlikely to change. Bill Belichick was close to retirement but has been convinced to come back for 1 more season. New England only made moves they needed to make, electing to let linebacker Dontae Hightower walk after a messy driving infraction that ended up in court and resigning LB Jerod Mayo. The rest of the defence will be led by Devin MCCourtey, Chandler Jones and Jamie Collins and looks to have depth across the board. All you need to know about the offence is that Brady is back, Gronk is still there and the o-line looks strong. Lamar Millier should flourish as the starter at RB.

Notable Resignings - MLB Jerod Mayo
Notable Additions - RB Lamar Miller
Notable Losses - OLB Dontae Hightower

Oakland Raiders - Last Season 3-13

The key for the Raiders this season will be if their offence and defence play as expected. Their defence has had a major upgrade. Charles Woodson has called time on his career and is sure enter the Hall of Fame sooner rather than later, but Oakland have splashed the cash on OLB Dontae Hightower, and Safety Eric Weddle. Standout MLB Eldrin Garner was selected in the draft at #3 and should feature heavily as a rookie. DE Khalil Mack is primed to have an excellent season and this team will do well providing the defence plays how it should. The same shouldn't be said of the offence, it needs to play beyond it's talent level. Their receiving corp has had an upgrade, grabbing Josh Gordon from Cleveland, but Michael Crabtree has left the sport to explore his goal of playing pro basketball after being heavily recruited out of college before choosing the NFL. QB Derek Carr will need to continue to develop after an largely indifferent start to his NFL career. Unfortunately the Raiders can't lean on a running game either, RB Latavius Murray hasn't shown enough flashes of quality to suggest he is the answer in Oakland. All in all, the Raiders could be one of the most interesting teams in 2016.

                Notable Resignings - None
Notable Additions - WR Josh Gordon, OLB Dontae Hightower, FS Eric Weddle
Notable Losses - SS Charles Woodson (retired - age) WR Michael Crabtree (basketball), QB Matt Flynn (retired - injury)
Draft Pick - MLB Eldrin Garner

Denver Broncos - Last Season 6-10

The rebuild is well and trully on for the Denver Broncos. Their attempt to land another Superbowl in the twilight of Peyton Manning's career nearly worked, but was ultimately fruitless. No-one could have predicted the injury to back up Brock Osweiler however. Despite numerous advances at free agents (notably Russell Wilson), QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is the man most likely to earn the starting job, backed up by Matt McGloin and Trevor Siemian. Whoever gets the nod will have to work behind a poor offensive line that won't provide much help for either the run or pass. Keeping Demaryius Thomas in town was an essential move for this Broncos team. On defence, Denver also needed to keep Von Miller, but he decided that he didn't want to play through the inevitable roster rebuild and embraced free agency. Whilst the front 7 offers few standouts, corner and safety are significantly stronger, with DB Chris Harris looking to continue the growth of his reputation as an elite player.

Notable Resignings - WR Demaryius Thomas
Notable Additions - QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB Matt McGloin
Notable Losses - QB Peyton Manning (retired - age), QB Brock Osweiler (retired - injury), OLB Von Miller (team)
Draft Pick - WR Antwan Burton

Kansas City Chiefs - Last Season 9-7

The Chiefs took steps to demonstrate their faith that this is a roster that can compete at a high level. Kansas still believe Alex Smith can lead their offence, and that task is made significantly easier by the presence of perhaps the best RB in the league, Jamaal Charles. Travis Kelce should continue his emergence as a top-tier TE. On defence, the Chiefs brought back a number of players, Justin Houston and Tamba Hali will both return at OLB, along with Sean Smith at corner. Jasper Brinkley and Haloti Ngata were added to the front 7 to give it some extra steel. With the ability to control the clock on the ground and keep teams off the scoreboard on defence, this Kansas City team should be a contender.

Notable Resignings - OLB Justin Houston, OLB Tamba Hali, CB Sean Smith
Notable Additions - DT Haloti Ngata, MLB Jasper Brinkley
                Notable Losses - None
Draft Pick - DT Rashawn Nelson

San Diego Chargers - Last Season 10-6

San Diego suffered some key losses over the off season that they have to hope won't derail their season. Tight End Antonio Gates has retired and safety Eric Weddle left in free agency due to a lingering injury issue the Chargers couldn't overlook. The direct swap for Weddle is Barry Church after his departure from Dallas, but Gates may be harder to replace. FB Brian Leonard should be a solid addition to the backfield for RB Melvin Gordon. This team is still Philip Rivers' though, he and receiver Keenan Allen are the stars now Gates has retired. Manti Te'o deserves a mention at MLB due to his play last year, he is developing into a leader on this defence. The Chargers did well from a very deep OLB draft class to have Chrishon Kelly fall to them at #26, he should play well as a rookie. I still see this team regressing from 10 wins a year ago.

                Notable Resignings - None
Notable Additions - SS Barry Church, FB Brian Leonard
Notable Losses - TE Antonio Gates (retired - age), FS Eric Weddle (injury)
Draft Pick - OLB Chrishon Kelly

Early Hopes Fade For Teams as Injuries Pile Up

It has been a particularly viscous beginning to this 2016/17 season. Teams still hold Superbowl aspirations that they will be desperate to keep on course. For some, it has been a harsh beginning to their campaign that has made a tough road even harder to navigate. Losing these players is sure to have a big impact for their teams:

Marshawn Lynch - RB, Seattle Seahawks

With less than a quarter gone in week 1, Lynch was disappearing into the locker room. An integral piece of the Seahawks offence, the former California draftee is expected to miss a considerable amount of time with a left knee injury. Whilst Seattle's medical staff hope it will be more like 1 month than 2, it is a blow for a team dependent on the run with a weak quarterback.

Sean Lee - MLB, Dallas Cowboys

And by the end of week 1, another major player was hobbled. Stand out MLB and leader of the Cowboys defence, veteran Sean Lee is expected to miss at least a month with an elbow injury sustained in the Cowboys win over Philadelphia.

Todd Gurley - RB, St Louis Rams

The Rams have to be disappointed that Gurley is on the shelf and unable to continue his development alongside young QB Herschel Robinson. Gurley is expected to be sidelined with a groin injury for around 2 months, leaving the Rams thin at the position.

Arian Foster - RB, Houston Texans

The NFL continues to display why running backs can have such a limited shelf life. Foster was the latest high profile back to go down, he could be out for around 7-8 weeks with a broken bone in his foot. A limited Texans offence will now have little option but to lean on QB Brian Hoyer for offensive production.

Jay Cutler - QB, Chicago Bears

This one was just cruel. The worst team in the NFL a year ago, and now after an 0-3 start they are set to be without their starting QB due to a wrist injury. It doesn't really ever rain for the Bears, right now it only pours.

Prince Amukamara - CB, New York Giants

An already thin position for the G-Men got thinner yesterday as the Giants IR'd starting corner back Prince Amukamara. A non-contact injury during practice was only ever likely to have one outcome and an MRI confirmed the worst. The former 1st round pick out of Nabraska is lost for the season with a torn ACL.

What up beautiful Gridiron Scoop readers, you know it's that time again! Who's in? Who's out? I bring you the definitive answers on which players are gonna stick around, and which players are taking the last bus outta town! With some of these guys, their teams will put up a roadblock to keep them at their franhise. Others, the GM wont be able to drive to the city limits fast enough! With our patented "5 Bus Outta Town" rating system, how likely is your team to keep it's stars?

                      Just Takin' A Ride....

DE Calais Campbell - Arizona Cardinals

The Cards threw money at free agents last off season in a push to become an NFC power house. Now one of the strongest players on their defence needs paying. I think Campbell stays where he is, no question. All that needs deciding upon is the money.
                      Rating?

TE Travis Kelce - Kansas City Chiefs

This team is built on the run and stingy defence, but they still get plenty of milage out of Kelce within their offence. A sure handed short yardage receiver, the tight end is under rated in my eyes. Like Campbell, I think Kelce stays providing he's not chasing crazy cash.
                      Rating?

LT Luke Joeckel - Jacksonville Jaguars

Don't look now, but the Jags might finally be able to put it together. These guys have pieces, and former #2 pick Joeckel is one of them. I think he gets paid good money and stays in Jacksonville.

                      Damn It, Missed My Stop....

QB Geno Smith - New York Jets

Sometimes, the writing is on the wall. The Jets drafted Jack Riley #2 overall in the summer, and Geno is a FA at the end of this year. Put 2+2 together, man! The only thing that could save Geno is if he can cling onto his job long enough this season to keep Riley riding the pine until he develops more. Chances are slim though, Riley may start day 1.
                      Rating?

RB Eddie Lacy - Green Bay Packers

Why wouldn't the Packers resign Lacy? He's a beast! Well, he is. But how much talent can you load into one offence? With a QB and receivers tearing up the NFL the last few years, do you need a high priced runner AS WELL? I'd worry that there's a price clash on this one rather than one side not liking the other.
                      Rating?

QB Drew Brees - New Orleans Saints

The Saints won 10 games last year, despite a questionable level of talent. Also, the Saints haven't got much better this off-season. How much longer does Drew keep doing this to himself? He's 37 now, when do the Saints pull the plug? I'm taking a shot and saying Brees is done in the Big Easy, but maybe doesn't retire.

                      Just Drive! Next Stop, Anywhere.....

WR Deandre Hopkins - Houston Texans

Hopkins is legit. He proves it week in week out and you may as well have my nanna throwing him the ball! I hear he wants to prove himself with a contender and news flash folks, Houston ain't a contender. Not now, not in a while either.
                      Rating?

QB Andrew Luck - Indianapolis Colts

Man, I LOVE this one. Luck is a stud, fact. The Colts had to tag him this off-season to keep him from bolting, fact. The Colts don't know what to do with Andrew Luck, fact. So.....cut your losses? Ship him? Cut him?! I can't wait to see how this plays out!
                      Rating?

OLB Barkevious Mingo - Cleveland Browns

This one is a lay up. The Browns are horrible and nobody wants to play there. How they managed 9 wins last season is beyond me. Mingo is still young enough to have someone kick the tyres on him, and being drafted 6th in 2013 is still recent enough in the memory for teams to be impressed. Get me outta here!
                      Rating?

That was fun! Can't wait to catch you all later in the season to see how these play out!

                      Peace Out!

                        Draft Preview - Offence

We have a great offensive breakdown for you today guys and there are going to be some stars in this year's draft. If you want to find out who we like, read on!

                        OFFENCE

                        QB
                        • There are most likely going to be 4 solid QBs in this year's draft. After that there is a sharp drop off, so who grabs one of those Quarterbacks and more importantly, when they pick, will be key.
                        • The pick of the bunch may well be Drew Carter from Miami. The 6'4" Senior doesn't possess any tools that would help him to be considered elite, but he does pretty much everything well.
                        • Alongside Carter, Nate Gray, Morgan Lucas and Tyson McBride all grade out well for me. I personally prefer Gray and McBride, they have more pop in their arm, but McBride especially can struggle with accuracy issues.
                        • Joey Bryan of Minnesota was a hot name last season, but he continues to suffer turnover issues. I think he could have benefited from his final year of eligibility, but elected to join the Draft. Some have him as a 2nd rounder, I have him lower than that.

                        RB
                        • This is a strong RB class, the strongest I have seen in some time. There will be players taken in various rounds that sound be able to contribute.
                        • Michigan State's Braxton Travis could be the best back to surface in some time. He is incredibly agile, elusive and runs the ball very well. I think he is a day 1 starter and due to the move by teams away from drafting runners in round 1, I think Travis presents a real bargain if he gets past that stage.
                        • Another back I like this year is also out of the Big Ten, Wisconsin's Desmon Toliver. A violent runner, he can power through a gap, but make the 2nd level miss with an impressive side step. That is a great combination to have at your disposal.

                        WR
                        • This is a bad class for receivers, there's no two ways about it. I'm not a fan and some teams will end of taking a player they don't like earlier than they should.
                        • Brandon Riley is being billed as the top wide out in this class, but for me he has questionable hands. I like his size at 6'4 and 239lb, but he is raw and will need work.
                        • On the opposite end of the scale, Tennessee's Rashad Gandy is an ideal slot receiver in build. At 5'8", he looks like a boy amongst men out there but plays with real heart. He battles off the line, catches well and more importantly for his NFL development, he can haul in passes in traffic. I have him in the 2nd or 3rd right now.

                        TE
                        • The blocking tight end continues to be phased out. It is a trend that is becoming more prevelant the more drafts I cover. Whilst not an exciting skill set, they are more valuable than people realise.
                        • I have to mention Rommell Taylor. This guy could be very good. He is 6'6, 260lb from a Spread offence in Tennessee. He is equally skilled working in the slot as he is tight to the line and with his height, you could even flirt with lining him up out wide in the red zone! He has great hands to, I can't wait to see what he does in the NFL.
                        • Rashawn Martin and Ahmad Greer share Taylor's height, but aren't at the same level as his skill set. I think that they can still be effective NFL players though.
                        • Tyler Gilbert from Indiana State is the best blocker in this class, I like him, but it's hard to say he'll be anything more than a late round pick.

                        T
                        • Tackle play is an issue in this draft. I only have 2 players with a first round grade, and nobody meets my criteria to make a 2nd round grade.
                        • The best tackle on display could be Kevin Russell, coming out of the power house that is Alabama. After a decorated collegiate career, he should do fine at the next level as a Left Tackle.
                        • Joshua McNeil from Wisconsin may a smart selection for somebody. He is listed as a Right Tackle, but shows the footwork and pass blocking credentials to switch to the left down the line.
                        • Jesus Dunn from Miami DeJuan Barclay are both billed as 3rd round guys. I don't like either of them, but someone might.

                        G
                        • For the 2nd straight year, I don't have a first round grade on any Guard.
                        • Cole Scott from Georgia is the pick at the "top" of the class, I like his toughness. He is a bit undersized at 6'4, but makes up for it with great quickness.
                        • If I had to pick a middle round guy who I think can produce down the line, I'd go with Lewis Martin. The Colorado State product should go in the 3rd or 4th round.

                        C
                        • Like Guard, Centre continues to experience a talent shortage at the very top of the draft. Teams are having to be more realistic with their expectations on the interior of the line.
                        • Harris Fletcher is the only centre I see being of note from this class, and even then he's a third round pick at best. He is also undersized at 6'1".

Colts Trade Luck To Seahawks for 3 picks

Whoa boy! This one is big. Earlier this evening, the Indianapolis Colts traded Andrew Luck to the Seattle Seahawks, receiving in return a 1st round pick in 2017, a 1st round pick in 2018, and a 2nd round pick in 2017. Wow.

Now, lets have a look at this one for a while, shall we? The price wasn't RG3-esque, that was three 1st rounders and a 2nd. But, every deal is different. The Colts were trading with one arm behind their back and teams knew it. The consensus was they couldn't afford to tag Luck for a 2nd straight year and the player wanted out. So, you get what you get and move on. The return is still pretty impressive and the Colts can use these picks going forwards. A Colts press release said "We wish Andrew the best and thank him for his time as a Colt." Short and sweet!

On the flip side, the Seahawks weren't happy with the play of Chase Daniels (shock!) and still think this team can win now. Pete Carroll was understandably delighted, "Andrew is a premier player in the National Football League. He can make every throw, he is a leader and when an opportunity comes along to acquire a player like that, you really can't hesitate"

                          It's Elway All Over Again!

Well, not so fast. The Colts might have hit the eject button on this season, but that might have happened even with Luck on board. The team is struggling right now and needs more play makers, not just one or two pieces. Perhaps this could be described as cutting off your hand to save the arm. Denver have shown that you can have success with a journeyman free agent under centre and with a few offensive line men, a rejuvenated Frank Gore, a developing TY Hilton and a stud in Vontae Davis, this move might prove sneaky good for the Colts.

                          Seahawks Win! Seahawks Win!!

Well again, not so fast. Was the only problem with the .500 Seahawks Chase Daniels? They aren't generating pressure and they aren't generating turn overs. That's not on the QB. Also, right now Andrew Luck doesn't have a new contract. Could this prove to be the most expensive rental in NFL history?! Just because the Colts shipped Luck to Seattle, that doesn't mean he wanted to go, just that the Seahawks were buying. Plus, when you consider the contracts the the Seahawks have handed out in recent years to keep their defence intact (I'm looking at you Richard Sherman), there isn't as much cash in the Seattle vault as they would like. Something has to give at some point, and what good is a franchise QB if you can't afford an o-line or some weapons to put around him?

Either way, this was huge. But it's hard to say who it was better for and we probably wont know for a few years yet. You could say right now that nobody is happy, depending on how you look at it. As always, I'll let you decide.

                            Mid Season Power Rankings

We've hit week 8, which means Power Rankings! How is your team doing? Lost all hope? Or flying towards the playoff? Let's get cracking. And can I just start this one by saying, Andrew Luck. wow!

                            32) Chicago Bears - 1-6
Seems like we were here before at this point last season. Don't get me wrong, it's tough for any team to win without their QB, losing Jay Cutler for nearly 2 months has been tough. Still, this team is propping up the league. Again.

                            31) San Francisco 49ers - 1-6
How the mighty have fallen! Not long removed from a Superbowl appearance, the issues start on offence. Colin Kaepernick hasn't done much, apart from get sacked that is! The 49ers rank 28th in offence, and on defence they are under performing. Von Miller, get it together dude!

                            30) New York Giants - 2-5
Losing Prince Amukamara for the season hasn't helped, but bar Odell, the whole offence is really poor right now. Eli Manning is really starting to show his age, and it isn't pretty. Vin Curry has been a lone bright spot, he's got 5 sacks. That how bad it's gotten. 5 sacks in 8 games is a bright spot!

                            29) Jacksonville Jaguars - 2-6
I said it last season. I'll say it now. At what point do we stop saying that the Jags are "rebuilding"? Unless they miraculously go on a tear the 2nd half, this is another bad season in Jacksonville. The reason why? 32nd in points allowed. 32nd in yards allowed. They're bad numbers, guys. I don't see Gus Bradley being there much longer.

                            28) Tennessee Titans - 2-5
The Titans went 8-8 and made the playoffs last season. This year though, tough going. McCourty has 4 picks, and that's impressive. They have 22 tackles for a loss as a team to. However, Marcus Mariota has been off and on the injury list all season. That's a killer.

                            27) Buffalo Bills - 3-5
The Bills should be better than this, they just should. That achilles heel continues to be the play of Tyrod Taylor. He has 12 TDs, 10 picks. You just can't turn the ball over like that. Shady has 702 yards rushing, the Bills should lean on him more the way Taylor is playing.

                            26) Cleveland Browns - 3-5
The best thing about the Browns (rare to say) is Aundre Fuller, their 2nd round running back. When Johnny Football went down, Fuller stepped up, and he has 747 yards and 6 scores. Scary to think, but the Browns might have a good player on their hands.

                            25) Denver Broncos - 3-4
So Peyton is done. The King is dead, long live the King yadda yadda. And there is a new King, well, 3 in fact! Trevor Siemien, Matt McGloin and Ryan Fitzpatrick have all had a crack at the starting job due to injury, nobody has really done much. Denver are 32nd in points score at just 14.7. That asking a lot of any defence.

                            24) Indianapolis Colts - 3-5
I wanted to put the Colts last but I wasn't allowed. I don't care how much you pay, you find a way to keep Andrew Luck. But now he's gone, and Colt McCoy is the answer? Ouch. Just ouch.

                            23) Miami Dolphins - 3-4
With a running game, Miami could be quietly dangerous. Suh has 8 tackles for a loss, leads the NFL. Cameron Wake has 6.5 sacks, and Ryan Tannerhill has a 12/5 ratio. Then you see Jonathan Dwyer in the backfield, and it all goes south. They're a few pieces for being great, or a few players leaving from being a mess.

                            22) Atlanta Falcons - 3-4
Last season in Atlanta, they aren't really going out with a bang. .500 ball and don't let the door hit you on the way out. Matt Ryan went to the IR in week 5, it was game over from there. Last one out, turn off the lights.

                            21) New York Jets - 3-4
The Jets have improved. That's good. They have 1 win more right now than they managed all of last season. Losing Chris Ivory has hurt. They are dead last in rushing offence. That doesn't help Rookie QB Jack Riley, but he's still managed a respectable 1,461 yards, 13TDs, 6 picks on the season so far. He looks a solid pick at this point.

                            20) Detroit Lions - 3-4
Matt Stafford hasn't been good, but when he has been effective, it's been to Megatron. CJ has 38 catches for 698 yards and 5 scores. The defence hasn't done much though, not much pressure, not many turn overs. You know their D has been on the field too much because Stephen Tullock has 77 tackles. Busy man.

                            19) Oakland Raiders - 3-4
The Raiders are in the mix with 3 wins, that's pretty rare for them. Khalil Mack is a beast. He has 8 sacks this season and leads the NFL. The Raiders as a team have 26 sacks and lead the NFL themselves. This D is built to last, but the offence just isn't doing its part. David Carr is starting to raise question marks.

                            18) St Louis Rams - 3-4
I feel like the Rams could be a better team. Todd Gurley going down early in week 2 has been a major blow. Without that run game, too much has been put on rookie Herschel Robinson. He has no weapons around him either, and it's no surprise St Louis are dead last in passing offence.

                            17) Baltimore Ravens 3 -4
Another team tucked into the 3 win pack is Baltimore. The reason why, a horrible -7 turn over ratio. 16 sacks allowed has led to pressure and hard hits, which leads to fumbles and interceptions. Still, WR Malcolm Narcisse has been a bright spot but they have to keep hold of the ball!

                            16) Pittsburgh Steelers - 3-5
Shouldn't a team with Big Ben, Bell, Brown, Bryant, be another B word......better?! Roethlisberger went down injured this week to, that isn't going to go well. The Steelers tie the Ravens with a -7 TO differential and that's before you take their QB out of the mix for a while. Yuck!

                            15) Houston Texans - 3-4
You know what, I've had it with Houston. This is the year they do something. I've put them near the top of the 3 win pile and I say they push on and win the AFC South. Arian Foster should be back soon after 8 weeks on the shelf. Deandre Hopkins is still a monster, and JJ Watt is just too good. Houston are my mid-table team that breaks out.

                            14) Minnesota Vikings - 3-4
We do all remember that this team went to the NFC Championship game last season, right? I refuse to accept that Teddy Bridgewater and AP don't kick into life in the 2nd half of the season. They look bad now but you can't keep good players down.

                            13) Arizona Cardinals - 4-3
You know, I'm a bit disappointed in Arizona. Spent serious money in the summer, I just think they should be stronger. Maybe the pieces are still trying to gel, but Russell Wilson's 5TDs is a pretty lean return so far. Campbell is enjoying himself with 6 sacks on the D-line, he's just lining himself up in a contract year. I think these boys click down the stretch.

                            12) San Diego Chargers - 4-3
Philip Rivers just keeps ticking over, he's close to 2,000 yards with 13 TDs. He does have 8 interceptions, but he's just quietly steering the Chargers along. But that is the problem. They steer themselves to a 6,7,8 win season too often. I think the Chargers need a bit of a jolt putting into them.

                            11) Washington Redskins - 4-4
It's been a while since Washington saw this end of my Power Rankings!! Mike Stark has put himself a very tasty 111.2 QB rating through 8 games with 16 scores and 5 INTs. Colour me impressed! their D is doing it all with pressure, sacks and interceptions, without excellent at any of them. Doing enough though, trending upwards.

                            10) Seattle Seahawks - 4-4
So Seattle pushed the big red PANIC button and sent the farm to Indy for Andrew Luck. Good job really, with Marshawn Lynch still out since week 1. Lack of running game, terrible QB, a league leading 76 penalties against, and a league worst -9 TO differential. How much of that can Luck solve?

                            9) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - 5-2
I love it when I find out who the surprise package is and it's totally left field. When did the Bucs decide to start playing football? I'm guessing it's when Jameis Winston came out to play. 14 TDs, 3 picks. This selection is looking like a slam dunk the more time passes.

                            8) Philadelphia Eagles - 5-2
R.G.3. I LOVE this! Even though it's the Eagles! What do they say about a break up? Living well is the best revenge. The Eagles look legit, as much as I hate to say it. All I can do is cross my fingers that Griffin gets injured, again!

                            7) Green Bay Packers - 5-3
Like clockwork, every year. The Packers kill teams through the air, don't win as many games as they should, get to the playoffs then all bets are off. And unsurprisingly, Green Bay leads the NFL with an obscene 36.6PPG. Two words.....FANTASY. GOLD. Eddie Lacy looks really good to, and they hardly need to use him.

                            6) Carolina Panthers - 5-2
The champs are tucked in nicely. The defence is really holding up, they are 1st in points allowed, 1st in turnover differential with +16. That makes sense considering they have 14 fumble recoveries on the year. With numbers like that, it's almost unfair that they have Cam Newton.

                            5) New England Patriots - 5-2
The difference between the teams at the top of this list and the bottom? They take care of the football. Mr Brady has just 3 interceptions this year, and a cool 16 touchdowns. It's that simple. I see the Pats getting real hot with their 2nd half schedule to.

                            4) Cincinnati Bengals - 6-2
Are we doing this again Cincy? Again? Ok. The Bengals look very strong. Andy Dalton looks like he could win a Superbowl. Jeremy Hill has over 700 yards rushing and 8 scores. AJ Green has over 700 yards receiving and 4 scores. Their defence has forced 18 turnovers. That early playoff loss is going to hurt more than usual this year.

                            3) Dallas Cowboys - 6-1
I always wanna put my 'Boys at #1, but I'm playing nice for a change. They do look awesome though. All bow down to Tony Romo! His 114 QBR leads the league. You know who needs credit though, linebacker Colin McCarthy. He has 89 tackles and the unit around him as a +12 TO differential. Defence wins Championships, just sayin'.

                            2) New Orleans Saints - 7-1
This isn't a typo. I have no idea where the Saints have come from. Their defence is ridiculous, they lead the league with 31 sacks. Drew Brees doesn't need all that much help to get W's on the board, but he's getting more than enough support right now. The big question, can it last?

                            1) Kansas City Chiefs - 7-0
Boy does this Chiefs team look good. You can't run on them, they're 1st in rushing yards allowed. But, they run on you. They're first in rushing yards. Alex Smith uses the ground and pound to pick teams off when he sees the mismatch, he has 16 touchdowns. Controlling the clock with the run and rock solid D. Sounds like a recipe for a trip to the Superbowl to me.

Robert Griffin III. Forgotten Man, Forgotten No More

Robert Lee Griffin III stood atop the Radio City Music Hall stage in 2012 with the NFL world at his feet. A sought after commodity, the Washington Redskins gave up a king's randsome of draft picks to position themselves to select the 2011 Heisman Trophy winner. RG3 was the hot name on everyone's lips. Following that night, the script played out as expected. Griffin enjoyed a decorated rookie season, leading the Redskins to the playoffs and a 10 win season. That was as good as it was going to get for Griffin in Washington as repeated and serious injuries have marred his professional career to date. Healthy again, and with Washington in his rear view mirror, Griffin is enjoying a new chapter to his career at Washington's NFL East rivals Philadelphia. I recently sat down with the man they call "RG3" to find out about his life, his career and the future.

BC: Robert, it's great to catch up with you. I think it's best that we start at the beginning, how did you get into football?

RG3: Thanks, it's great to be here. I guess I first got into football seriously when I was started at Baylor with Coach Briles. I've always loved sport, but over time football became more and more important to me. I love track, that'll always be a part of me and it's served me well in what I've done since I got into football.

BC: You got bitten by the bug! Funny story, I remember coming out to watch you play at Copperas Cove when you were in High School, I think it was '05 or '06. Bill (Parcells) took a call from one of his scouts at the time to go take a look at you and asked me to tag along. Boy, was that something! You were just shredding the other team, it was a different level. I remember Me and Bill covering our faces with scarves and big hoods so word wouldn't get out that you were on our radar, even back then!

RG3: Haha! No way!? I loved playing down there. I was still playing basketball and doing track when I was there, I loved it. Go Bulldawgs!

BC: So then Coach Briles comes knocking, and you're set to go to Houston, right?

RG3: I loved what Coach said to me when they recruited me. I was all in on his pitch and couldn't wait to work with him. I had some buzz coming out of High School, but I was looking forward to moving to the next level. Then Coach moved over to Baylor and it just all went from there.

BC: Fast forward to 2009, and you hurt your knee. Take me through that, I'm sure it was tough to take.

RG3: We needed to convert a 4th down, ran the option play and as soon as I got hit I felt it. I didn't know it was my ACL at the time, which is why I went back in. Rehab was tough, but I got it back to 100%. It was the first time I'd ever really dealt with anything serious and it really knocked me back for a while. It's difficult adjusting from being so completely focused on football to then being removed from that environment.

BC: And by 2011 you were ready to tear it up? I remember you guys weren't all that fancied coming in, but that probably just fired you up more!

RG3: Absolutely! I'd learnt a lot whilst I was on the sidelines, and the experiences I'd had in my previous seasons. We won 10 games and the Alamo Bowl and the time was right to move forward. Coach Briles supported me and that meant a lot, it was the right thing to do for me at the time.

BC: 2012, you're stood on the stage with the cap and the jersey. You heard the news about the trade and you were off to Washington. How was that for you?

RG3: To be honest, at the time it was a dream. It's what you work your whole life to achieve. I was nervous, excited and for a while afterwards I couldn't believe it. My rookie year was fantastic. I picked up so many things from the guys around me. They gave me some digs you know, but they wanted to see me improve. That's the best advice I think, just stay humble and keep your ears open.

BC: Then onto Seattle and the playoffs. It was that right knee again. How disappointing was that for you?

RG3: Devastating. Just the worst. You have all the hype and the excitement of a playoff game, it was like nothing I'd experienced. I still felt we were in the game and wanted to do anything I could to try and get us going on the scoreboard. My knee had been bothering me since the Baltimore game but between myself, Coach Shanahan, Bruce (Allen, the Redskins GM) and Ray Wright (Head Strength and Conditioning Coach), we decided we could manage it until the end of the season. I guess looking back, I still knew about the injury back at Baylor and how I played until half time. If I did it then, I could do it now, we'd get through it. An LCL is easier than an ACL, but it just didn't work out that way.

BC: It was tough to watch. I remember being in Dallas in '05 when Flozell Adams did an ACL. They aren't to be messed around him. Hotel was a monster, but it grounded him for a long time. What happened in 2013?

RG3: 2013 taught me a whole lot about the NFL. I knew that higher up, Dan was pushing Coach Shanahan to get me in there. I didn't feel I was ready. I wasn't far away, maybe 70% or 80% by the time Philly came around (Washington's week 1 opponents). Playing in the NFL is a tough, tough business. Your health only trends one direction during the season. I wouldn't say I was protecting my knee, but it was in the back of my mind. I got sacked 38 times that season. It was tough. I kept telling Ray about it, he was good to me. I think what he was saying fell on deaf ears though. Maybe that's just the NFL.

BC: Do you think the Redskins treated you correctly? Do you think they did the right thing by you?

RG3: Looking back, it is tough you know. I'm not going to sit here and vent but it is frustrating. I understand it's business, and hindsight is a powerful thing. The Redskins did what they thought was right for them, but it just didn't work out for me. Once i did my ankle (in 2014), I think the team had moved on from me. That's sad, but it's how it felt. Maybe they resented the price they paid to move up (in the draft), I don't know. The ankle was a bad one. You work night and day to get back on the football field and after everything I'd struggled through, another injury was horrible. Nothing replicates being on that field. You work so hard for it.

BC: Interesting. Football can be tough but I know a lot of people sympathise with what you went through. Tell me how things ended in Washington. Were you relieved?

RG3: It doesn't pain me at all to say that when I sat down with Dan, I was almost pleased. I was injured during my time here sure, but maybe I could have been injured less with a little more patience, you know? By the end of last season, I was just ready for it. I knew the incident with the SUV was going to spark the end of things. I'm pleased that justice prevailed with that one, but that was always going to be the out for the team on my time with them. After watching the whole of 2015 from the sidelines, I was just ready. I still think I can play in this league.

BC: On to free agency, and you get a call from Coach Kelly in Philadelphia!

RG3: Yeah, that was exciting! Understandably the phone was quiet for a time, but then the Eagles called and it was an easy decision. I didn't cross paths with Coach Kelly in college really, but I like his style and the way he runs an offence. I knew if I could get healthy I'd have a shot and that's what I was promised. I spoke to Coach Briles about it and he said to trust my heart. It just felt like the right place to go.

BC: And now we're at the present. You're 6-2, beating teams with your arm as well as your legs. What's it like being in Philly? Enjoying it?

RG3: For sure! It is great to be back playing football. It feels so good to have a fresh start and the guys in the locker room have been behind me 100%. I knew I had a chance to start if I got my head down and got working. I'm enjoying working with Ryan (Day, the QBs coach) and the other QBs. The team kept Sam Bradford around and gave him a new deal, so I know the competition is there for my place. Tank (Darren Sproles) has been brilliant. He was around Philip Rivers back in 2007 when he hurt his ACL, so the support and advice he's offered has been great. I'm happy right now, in a good place!

BC: That's so good to hear. I think the only thing left is where do you see RG3 in the future? Where does the path lead?

RG3: You know, I think the posts have shifted a little on that one. My first few years in the league have put a lot of things in perspective. I came in wanting to win everything. I still want to do that, but I'm thankful to be in this position. I'm thankful I can still play football as I know how easily it can all be taken away, and it might not be in your hands. Right now though, I'm just concentrating on doing the best I can for the Philadelphia Eagles. What is in the past is there for a reason. You can't change it and I don't plan to dwell on it. It's done, but I'm not.

                                FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NEW YORK - Effective from the beginning of the NFL calendar in 2017/2018, The Atlanta Falcons will be permanently relocated to Mexico City.

The Mexico City Diablos will be based at the Estadio Azteca, a 95,500 capacity stadium located in the Santa Ursula suburb of Mexico City. Extensive renovations will be undertaken at the stadium to improve all aspects of the game day fan experience. These renovations are expected to be completed ready for the beginning of pre-season 2017. The new stadium will be named "The Fire Pit" until at least 2020 when a corporate sponsor may be sought.

The league has hosted numerous exhibition and regular season games outside of the United States in the last 15 years in order to test the viability of a franchise being based outside of the country. Divisional realignment is not being considered at this time.

We would like to place on record it's thanks to Head of Government for Mexico City Miguel Angel Mancera and Diablos owner Arthur Blank.

The National Football League is excited to bring the sport to Mexico City!
