I'm really glad that you were able to get the game reports back and the thread reposted man. Sorry in advance for the megapost, don't try and respond to it all or anything I just was really pumped to have some time to sit down with coffee and catch up.

I really like the look of the recruits you guys got. As a coordinator, you can't control that can you? Or can you.... I forget. On the offensive side of the ball there are a few different guys that could fill roles, and depending upon running skills like CAR/BTK/ELU whatever have you, Bowman could be a superstar.

On the dfeensive side of the ball it's all about those dudes you picked up, two on the line and the linebacker. Those guys hopefully will wreck shop for you.

Improvement I love your breakdown of your team here... All the numbers laid out.

The numbers I have gotten out of this are slightly better than the ones you get. Like, overall, +2.96 when I just did it. The guys that were +1 or better were +4.57 on average. I'm pretty hardcore about cutting bad discipline players when we need to cut guys, and for some reason I've been lucky that those correlated with bad ETH players a lot of the time, so I don't think I have as many guys on the lower end as you.

I was wondering, on this topic, if you could provide a link to the (what was it, something like Jsocks?) discipline calculator or whatever it was... I'd like to check it out.

My boy Bowman was nearly perfect in his first start... You cant' do much better than that, yeah the yards were a little on the tough side, but the system worked getting big yards across the baord. Then to go 6-7 with a pair o TD...

The team was game against Duke but just came up a bit short. Davidson with another nice game, I've always kinda wanted to run a triple option just so I could recruit dominant running fullbacks. I've recruited so many that appeared to have some talent but then they role a horrible work ethic lol.

Army ground game just grinding EMU to bits there, beautiful game and just love your photos included in this game. I forget how much I love those small school stadiums.... Honestly, it seems like the game decides you're good a little too quickly and then you don't have realistic looking crowds like that anymore.

Tough loss in a game that could have been a huge win for the Black Knights against Oklahoma. Defense was phenomenal.

New Mexico win... Add this game to the list of reasons I love NCAA '14. I've had wins just like this where I was certain I was going to get beat at the end and have some random dude pick a pass off in the end zone to win it... Amazing.

The season just keeps getting more interesting. 4-2 might not be earth shattering, but all the games have been incredible for the most part. Great win coming back.

That BYU loss... Man they are just a fun team to face, I always got good games against them.

Air Force... Another totally stunning game, gut wrenching rival loss. I was wondering if Bowman could go the entire season without an INT and he finally tripped up here... He's been awesome all told.

Very happy to see you posting, do you think it will be temporary? do your breaks happen just due to being tired of the game, or getting too busy with work or school, or what? For me it's definitely been the school/work combo of death at times...

Let's try to recap this all Although some of this stuff was done 1+ year ago so I have a hard time remembering it all lol

I'm not messing with any defensive recruits, I just watch all plays in supersim on defense. Still an offensive coordinator.

I did find the suspension generator, I can't find the exact process for it, but I did find the excel workbook. I had kinda forgotten about this (stuff happens when you take forever off)

All in all, you sum up our season quite well - our defense has been incredible - maybe too good at times, but out of my hands. The offense is still fun as ever to run. Bowman plays way ahead of his ratings and Davidson is a complete workhorse in his senior season. The amount of tackles he breaks is something else.

Speaking of Bowman, he is having a fantastic freshman season and sadly he won't be my 2nd QB in 3 years to throw 0 INT in a season. I throw so many safe passes when we do pass but I think mainly we get picked 15+ yards downfield.

Thanks for checking in and catching up. For my break, it's just business/disinterest in NCAA. I don't expect to be super active (I remember knocking out a season in ~2 weeks once, maybe less back in the "glory days"), but want to put out a little progress each week.

                      Re: The Rise

Welcome back to the board Iron Dragon. It seems like this place is buzzing again.

Looks like you had a little bit of rust to shake off in the early going, but you have this team rolling again. When you're running the ball the way your team has as of late, you won't lose very many games.

I must say, of all the game shots on this board, yours may be the most crisp-looking. Great usage of the sharpness tool.

Thanks, good to be back. We had a really slow start in the return, but we are really picking it up now.

Always a great day when 1 catch for 3 yards is the leading receiver, lol.

                                Re: The Rise

Will the triple option tree spread in the upcoming coaching carousel?

Is the 2018 to 2019 coaching carousel the year of the option? Willie Fritz and Tulane are 9-2, ranked in the top 25, and have a chance to make a NY6 bowl with an upset of #6 Houston. Teams who are needs of fresh starts should take notice. Fritz's Tulane teams the last three seasons: 5-7, 7-5 and currently 9-2 ranked #25 in the latest playoff poll.

Tulane's option attack is the most pass-friendly of the group of coaches you could consider to bring the option in this off-season. Former LSU QB Lindsey Scott Jr. has thrown for 1,121 yards and five touchdowns while running for 907 yards and 9 scores so far this season.

But if not him, you have the choices of Army head coach Jeff Monken, who despite Army's 6-5 record this season, Army is 21-15 over the past three seasons. This season has seen Army drop just by 7-points to current-#4 Oklahoma, along with narrow losses to 8-win teams in BYU and Air Force, as well as ACC's Duke, all by less than 10 points each. Army's option attack is the most traditional of the group, as three players have 150+ carries 11 games into the season. True freshman QB Harrison Bowman has thrown for 788 yards and 6 scores on just 91 attempts, while adding 1,116 yards on the ground through 11 games.

Speaking of Air Force, Troy Calhoun is 8-3 this season, and Air Force is 25-13 over the past three seasons. So maybe it's his time to jump to a new job this off-season. Air Force, like Tulane, throws the ball a bit more than Army. QB Arion Worthman has 1,289 yards of passing this season, with 16 TD throws. Air Force bombs it out on passes, with an average of 16.5 yards per completion this year.

There's also hungry option offensive coordinators that could be good fits as first-time head coaches as well.

Despite being fired at Georgia Tech this past season, now Louisiana Tech head coach Paul Johnson has turned Louisiana Tech from a 3-9 team in 2017 to 7-4 in 2018.

                                SO WHO NEEDS A COACH?

Cal: Greg Schiano was hired two seasons ago from Ohio State, with a 5-win season in 2017, the Bears have dipped to 2-10 this season. Maybe this Pac-12 team needs a major offensive change to succeed.

Kansas: Mark Hudspeth may be the next one out of the revolving door at Kansas. A 4-17 record in 2 seasons isn't thrilling anyone. They considered Army HC Jeff Monken 2 seasons ago, maybe they don't make the same mistake twice?

TCU: Gary Patterson has been at TCU forever, but 9-13 in the last two seasons has started to hear his name come up on the hot seat.

SMU: Chad Morris is 8-15 in the last seasons at SMU. It may be time for a change.

Fresno State: Tim DeRutyer is 10-24 in the last three seasons at Fresno. A shakeup here would be a possible boost to a team in a good recruiting area.

Oregon State: Gary Andersen is 16-31 at Oregon State. Again, another Pac-12 team looking to find its identity.

Other smaller schools possibly looking: North Texas (7-29 in past 3 seasons), Old Dominion (1-10 with Dave Nichol this season), Kent State (15-54 under Paul Haynes), Central Michigan (18-30 under John Bonamego), Bowling Green (Mike Jenks 2-8 this season after 13 wins last 2 seasons).
