Re: One Moore Time, A Coaching Career on NCAA14

Hey, I just want you to know that I started following, and you've got me hooked. Clayton was a good decision, but I'm pumped to see Magnum soon here!

Also, when you get those multi-INT games, I'm sitting here dying a little bit, cause I'm more of a 3 yards and a cloud of dust guy! But i still love the write-ups and story!

Thanks for the follow and comment. I am starting to realize that the INT's are just part of my play style I guess. Not going to lie there is 1 or 2 where the Defense just makes a grab out of no where, but I have been known to try and make a pass I shouldn't.

Losing Clayton hurts but I am lucky to have landed Magnum. He has been solid, despite a few INT's which happens when your a true freshman playing in my system, but to be honest I really felt like Clayton had the skills to be a Heisman type talent.

        COWBOYS GIVE RAMS THE BOOT!!

For the 2nd straight year, the Bronze Boot will stay in the in Fort Collins as the Rams win their 6th straight game in their Border War matchup.

CSU got on the scoreboard early as J. Lawrence takes a "Pick 6" 51 yds to the house to put the Rams on the scoreboard first (7-0). Wyoming answered with a 38 yd FG on their next series to make it (7-3), but a 4 yd run by FR C. Hayes made it (14-3) with 4 minutes to play in the 1st. The Cowboys would answer back with their lone TD of the day as QB B. Doty keeps it and scores from 6 yds out to make it (14-10) as we head to the 2nd Quarter.

The Cowboys Defense would step up early in the 2nd, holding CSU to a pair of Field Goals (33 and a huge 55 yarder) but a 46 yd TD pass from Mangume to TE T. Martin made it (27-10) with 1:21 to play in the half. Wyoming would manage to put 3 more points on the scoreboard though as B. Johnson connects from 40 yds out to make it (27-13).

Both offenses would struggle in the 3rd as CSU manages just a 42 yd FG by P. Love to make it (30-13) as we head to the 4th.

The 4th was more of the same, with a Magnum to Matthews (24 yds) TD pass was the only score.

        FINAL SCORE CSU-37 WYOMING-13

        KEY PLAYERS
        QB J. Mangnum-21/44 286 yds 2 TD, 12 carries 64 yds

        RB C. DeAngelis-16 carries 99 yds
        RB C. Hayes-3 carries 17 yds 1 TD

        WR C. Wright-6 rec 82 yds
        WR B. Baker-6 rec 97 yds

RAMS VS HAWKEYES IN TOP-25 SHOWDOWN!!

Last year Colorado State and Iowa met in a Week 5 matchup with the Rams a perfect 3-0 vs the Hawkeyes sitting at #22 in the nation with a perfect 3-0 record as well.

SR QB C. Hill threw 4 INT which led to his benching, with then RS SO A. Clayton taking over leading the comeback in which CSU fell short 28-24. Iowa went on to stay perfect and win the National Title.

Fast forward to this year and this matchup, Iowa enters the game (3-1) with (27-21) loss to Oklahoma in Week 2 as their only hiccup. However 2 of their 3 wins have been against FCS schools and their other a (31-21) win over instate rival Iowa State at home.

So how would they fair against the Rams in Fort Collins against a perfect team looking for revenge? Not so well.

Coach Moore had a plan, and that plan was a full out air raid assault against a young and inexperienced Iowa secondary.

CSU passed early and passed often as FR QB J. Magnum and SR WR B. Baker made school history.

The Rams opened the game with back to back scores as Magnum hits Baker for scores of 25 and 20 yds to make it (14-0). Iowa would answer with a 49 yd FG to get on the scoreboard (14-3) but then it was history making time.

Magnum and Baker were not the only ones to earn spots in the CSU record books. SR RB Cameron DeAngelis broke the school record for TD's in a game with 5 scores in between throws from Magnum to Baker.

DeAngelis would score from 1 yd out in the 1st Quarter, add runs of (2 yds and 4 yds) in the 2nd Quarter to give CSU to the (35-3) lead at the half and then add 2 more scores in the 3rd (13 yds and 2 yds) to make it 48-3 going into the 4th.

Iowa would finally find the endzone to open up the 4th Quarter scoring as A. Ewing runs in from 3 yds out (48-10), but a Magnum to Baker (10 yd pass) with 3 minutes to play makes it (55-10) and after another 3 and out by the Defense, P. Love connects on a 20 yd FG with less then a minute to play.

          FINAL SCORE CSU-58 IOWA-10

          KEY PLAYERS
          QB-J. Magnum-32/42 567 yds (school record) 3 TD

RB C. DeAngelis-34 carries 90 yds 5 TD (school record)

WR B. Baker-18 rec (school record) 354 yds (school record) 3 TD (tied school record)

WITH THE WIN, CSU MOVES TO A PERFECT 7-0 AND #11 SPOT IN THE RANKINGS AS THEY HEAD INTO THEIR WEEK 8 MATCHUP WITH (5-2) USC

            AROUND THE NATION RECAP

            13 TEAMS REMAIN UNBEATEN

The Top-25 contains 13 teams with perfect records after Week 7 including the entire Top-12 in the rankings.

Florida State received 32 1st place votes after a (38-31) win @ Miami to stay #1.

Boise State however is a close 2nd receiving 24 1st place votes after their (41-13) win at home vs #20 Oregon.

Alabama (6-0) is #3, followed by UCLA (6-0) and Texas (5-0) to round out the Top-5.

Clemson (6-0), LSU (6-0), Minnesota (6-0), Stanford (6-0) and Pitt (7-0) make up the rest of the Top-10.

Stanford will put their record to the test in Week 8 with a matchup @ #21 Notre Dame, well Pitt will also head to the road with a Top-25 matchup @ @24 Michigan.

Texas A&M moved down 1 spot after CSU claimed #11, despite their (5-0) record and (42-30) win over TCU.

Ohio State (4-1) #13, Auburn (5-1) #14, Washington (6-1) #15 and Georgia Georgia Tech (4-1) #16 are the best 1-loss teams in the nation.

Iowa comes in at #17 despite their blowout loss to CSU and (3-2) record.

Like Colorado State, Tulsa is shocking the nation as they are a perfect 6-0 after a 29-24 win over Kansas as the Hurricanes join the Top-25 at #18. However only 1 of their 6 wins have come against a team with a .500 record (Iowa State who is 3-3).

If they can somehow manage to get past Colorado (4-2), Oklahoma (4-3), OSU (3-3) and Air Force (4-1) their Week 14 matchup with CSU could be interesting.

            QB'S DOMINATE HEISMAN TALK

Despite currently sitting #2 in the nation in passing yards (1724) FR Jakari Magnum's name is no where near the Heisman talks even after his record setting day vs Iowa. He can thank his 9 INT, and just 82 yds rushing for that.

However the Big 12 isn't without a Heisman hopefull. Nebraska's SR M. Gordon is currently #5 in the talks with 1661 yds passing (14 TD, 5 INT) and 445 yds rushing (7 TD).

Joining him are SR QB A. Jackson (Clemson)-1450 yds 14 TD 2 INT, 301 yds rushing 6 TD and SR QB J. Jacques (S. Carolina)-1722 yds 18 TD 2 INT, 482 yds rushing 5 TD.

However the the bulk of the talk surrounds to JR QB's.

            5'11 A. Key (Alabama)-1343 yds 18 TD 1 INT, 393 yds rushing 5 TD, is currently #1 well

            6'2 Nick Gray (TAMU_-1525 yds 15 TD 2 INT, 339 yds 7 TD is #2.

              RAMS/TROJANS BECOMES ESPN CLASSIC!!!

Coach Kellen Moore knew coming off the Ram's huge win over Iowa that they could be in for their toughest matchup yet traveling to play (5-2) USC at home. Normally it's the Trojans who are use to being undefeated and ranked in the Top-10, but USC lost a heartbreaker to Texas in Week 2 (30-24) and then fell again to San Diego State on the road 3 weeks later (31-17), but today they would be playing at home where they own a (4-0) record.

              1st Quarter
Colorado State won the toss and elected to kick. USC wasted little time putting points on the scoreboard as JR QB C. Outlaw hits A. Morris on a 67 yd bomb to make it 7-0. Then after a quick 3 and out, it was Outlaw finding T. Taylor on a 11 yd strike to make it (14-0). A missed 49 yd FG by P. Love would keep the Ram's from any points in the opening Quarter and lead to a Trojan 41 yd FG to make the game (17-0) as we head to the 2nd.

              2nd Quarter
The Trojans Defense and a heavy downpour of rain kept J. Magnum and the Ram's rushing attack in check for most of the quarter, but finally with 1:50 to play, Magnum hits TE T. Martin on a 15 yd strike to put the Rams on the scoreboard (17-7), but USC wasn't done as Outlaw goes to the air completing 5/6 pass's in the final minutes including a 3 yd strike to Morris to make it (24-7) going into the half.

              3rd Quarter

The Ram's opened the half with the ball but quickly gave it back to USC as Magnum throws his 3rd INT of the game, but the defense steps up forcing the 3 and out, giving CSU the ball back. Struggling with just a 1.8 ypc, SR RB Cameron DeAngelis finally breaks a run for a 10 yd gain that sets up a pass action pass to Baker for 58 yds, the Ram's biggest gain of the day, which in turn sets up a DeAngelis 3 yd TD run to make it (24-14). Then after another huge defensive stop, Magnum finds a grove completing 4/5 pass's to including a 29 yd strike to Martin to cut the lead to just a field goal (24-21)

              4TH Quarter

It was a back and forth effort in the final quarter of play as both teams were battled for the "W". Forced with a tough decision to go for it on 4th and 1, Coach Moore sent out the offense and FB C. Carpenter delivered picking up the much needed 1st down which lead to a DeAngelis score to put the Ram's up (28-24) with 6 minutes to play.

After a huge stop on 3rd and 15, USC was forced to punt giving CSU a chance to put the game away, but instead after back to back negative yard gains by the ground game, Magnum was forced to throw on 3rd and 18, and the Trojan secondary was ready as S. Cross comes up with the "Pick 6" return to put USC back on top (31-28) with 4:39 to play.

Back to back sacks and a incomplete pass led to the Ram's facing a 4th and 18 with 3 minutes to play. Coach Moore called in the play, Magnum drops back looks for Baker on the Fly, but he is double covered leaving Martin wide open, he fires Martin makes the catch and looks to have the 1st down but the ref's call him a yard short. USC's ball. With the 3 point lead, it's the Trojan's turn to put the game away and they deliver as Outlaw sets up a 1 yd run by Chapman to make it (38-28) with 2:36 to play.

But it wouldn't be a ESPN classic if it ended there. No instead Magnum with 4 INT's and 8 sacks taken, makes some of the biggest play's of his life. The Freshman played like a 4 year starter, first completing a huge 71 yd bomb to JR D. Flanagan to make it (38-35) with 2:04 to play and then after a huge stop by the defense Magnum completes 4/4 pass's including a 12 yd strike to B. Baker to give CSU the lead (42-38) with 48 seconds on the clock.

USC wasn't ready to just give up though. A 35 yd gain from Outlaw to Morris set up 4 opportunities for the the Trojans to go for the hailmary on their side of the 50, the first 3 attempts were knocked down by the secondary, the 4th never left Outlaws hand as SR DE T. Fletcher drives him insto the ground.

              FINAL SCORE CSU-42 USC-38

              KEY PLAYERS
              QB J. Magnum-33/48 593 yds (new school record) 4 TD 4 INT

              RB C. DeAngelis-24 carries 45 yds (1.8 avg) 2 TD

              TE T. Martin-7 rec 117 yds 2 TD
              WR B. Maker-7 rec 124 yds 1 TD
              WR D. Flanagan-6 rec 155 yds 1 TD
              WR C. Wright-5 rec 71 yds
              WR W. Matthews-5 rec 102 yds

              Coach Moore
"I am supper proud of the way the team rallied behind Jakari and never gave up. He did a great job of spreading the ball around, but that rain was brutal today and it really forced us to pass the ball more then we wanted"
WITH THE WIN, COLORADO STATE MOVES UP TO #7 IN THE LATEST TOP-25 POLL WITH A BYE WEEK NEXT WEEK.

                RAMS RUN OVER UTES!!

                (Sim Game)

After back to back weeks of 500+ passing yard games in wins over Iowa and USC, Colorado State used a different strategy in their win over (2-5) Utah.

The Utes came into the game having won 2 straight after a 0-5 start scoring 40+ points in wins over UNLV and Wyoming, so to slow down the Utes attack, Coach Moore switched things up going to a ground attack that produced 200+ yds in the Rams win. FINAL SCORE CSU-26 UTAH-14

                KEY PLAYERS
                QB J. Magnum-18/35 196 yds

                RB C. DeAngelis-23 carries 126 yds 2 TD

AROUND THE NATION RECAP WEEK 11

                  WE HAVE A NEW #1

The Week 9 matchup of #1 Florida State vs #6 Clemson wasn't the game of the year everyone was hoping to see, but it did create a new #1 team in the country as the Seminoles fall (30-17) to the Tigers.

With the win, Clemson (9-0) actually jumps to the #1 BCS ranking leaving Boise State (9-0) still stuck at #2.

                  BRONCOS STILL #2
Will Boise State stay perfect and play for their first ever National Title? That question will most likely get answered in Week 13 when the Broncos host #19 (8-2) Washington and Coach Chris Peterson. SR QB Bobby Parham has been perfect with a passing rating of 204.4 completing 163/219 for 2405 yds with 25 TD's and 0 INT. The SR from Nampa Idaho has been a force on the ground as well rushing for 476 yds with 10 TD's, and the nation has taken notice as he moves into the Heisman talks. Will he guide the Broncos to a perfect record like the man he replaced (Collins) and give BSU repeat Heisman winners?

                  RAMS MOVE TO #3!!

With the win over Utah, Colorado State has put themselves in National Title talks after moving up from #5 to #3 in the latest poll. Could Kellen Moore bring home a National Title in just his 3rd year at the helm and how would he and the world react if it was CSU vs BSU in the title game?

                  PAC-12 SHOWDOWN
Before the start of the season, the Pac-12 decided to realign the conference after having UCLA finish in the Top-4 BCS rankings despite not playing in the Pac-12 title game.

So New Mexico State and New Mexico joined UCLA, USC, Fresno State and San Jose State in the Gold Division with Stanford and Cal joining San Diego State, Arizona, Arizona State and Hawaii in the Sun Division.

With the relignment, there now is the possibility that #5 (10-0) UCLA will have to face off against #6 (9-0) Stanford should each team finish the season perfect.

WILL #4 LSU PLAY SPOILER IN CSU/BSU MATCHUP

#1 Clemson still has a matchup with #23 South Carolina in Week 14, plus a rematch with #10 Florida State in the SEC Championship game standing in their way to a spot in the National Title game.

But for #4 LSU the road is much easier. The Tigers close out their season with games at home vs (5-4) Ole Miss and (5-4) Tulane before taking on the winner of the #9 Alabama vs #6 Auburn in the Sun Belt Title game. LSU already owns a (49-7) win over the Tide earlier in the year.

                    FALCONS END RAMS SHIP DREAMS!!

Colorado State's dream of a National Title and stay in the Top-5 of the poll's is over after a failed 4th Quarter comeback against instate rival Air Force.

The Falcons Triple-Option rushing attack was just to much for the Ram's Defense as AFA put up 271 yds on the ground with 5 TD's.

The Falcons opened up the scoring with a 31 yd FG to make it (3-0) but then followed that up with back to back scores from RB E. Sims (5 yd and 9 yd) to take a (17-0) lead at the end of 1.

Colorado State would battle back though first on a 20 yd break away by C. DeAngelis to start the 2nd Quarter, and then after a D. Callahan INT, Jakari Magnum would find C. Wright on a 6 yd score to make it (17-14) with 4 minutes to play and with less then a minute to play CSU had tied the game (17-17) on a 46 yd FG by P. Love.

The Falcons would open the 2nd half scoring on a 3 yd run by RB P. Riggs to make it (24-17), but Magnum to Wright (43 yds) 3 plays later had the game tied once again (24-24), but Riggs wasn't done as he scores from 11 yds out on the triple option pitch to make it (31-24).

CSU would once again tie game early in the 4th as DeAngelis finds the endzone for the 2nd time (1 yd out) (31-31), but with P. Riggs would give the Falcons the lead yet again with his 3rd score of the game. Colorado State would have 2 more chances to tie the game, but both series would end in Magnum INT's.

                    FINAL SORE AFA-38 CSU-31

                    KEY PLAYERS
                    QB J. Magnum-15/29 195 yds 2 TD 2 INT, 54 yds rushing
                    RB C. DeAngelis-15 carries 93 yds 2 TD
                    WR B. Baker-6 rec 69 yds
                    WR C. Wright-3 rec 73 yds

                    E. Sims-22 carries 127 yds 2 TD
                    P. Rigg-15 carries 90 yds 3 TD

                    Coach Moore
"Well it's over.. I know alot of fans, sportswriters and alot of guy's on our team were already thinking ahead to a potential BSU vs CSU matchup for a National Title. Now we don't have to think about it, and can instead focus on finishing out the regular season and winning a Big 12 title and our 3rd bowl game in 3 straight years."
WITH THE LOSS CSU DROPS TO #11 IN THE POLLS AND WILL HEAD HOME TO TAKE ON OKLAHOMA STATE FOR SENIOR DAY

SENIORS GUIDE RAMS TO 10TH WIN

Coming off their first loss of the season, Coach Moore wondered how would his team respond, as he guided his 17 Seniors onto the field for their last game at Sonny Lubick Field.

When Kellen Moore got to campus 2 years ago #19 Brandon Baker was listed on the depth chart as the #3 QB coming off a season in which he made zero pass attempts but did manage 9 rec for 141 yds and 3 TD's. With a fulltime move to WR, Baker became a star and one of the best WR in the nation winning the Biletnikoff after posting 115 rec for 1683 yds and 16 TD, and now 1 year later he is looking to repeat it again as he continues to break every school record.

Today would be his final home came, but not the final game of his college season or his career, Baker has become a star and the NFL scouts have taken notice.

CSU would open the game with a rushing TD by C. DeAngelis another Senior playing his final home game to make it (7-0). OSU would answer back with a FG from 29 yds out to make it (7-3) early in the 2nd Quarter after both teams turned the ball over on back to back series.

However with less then 2 minutes to play it was FR J. Magnum finding another SR, WR C. Wright for a 9 yd score to make it (14-3) as we go into the half.

The 3rd Quarter saw CSU add 2 more scores a FR tailback C. Hayes scores from 5 yds out and then DeAngelis adds his 2nd score of the game to make it (28-3), but with 1:31 to play the Cowboys finally find the endzone as C. Hicks scores from 1 yd out (28-10).

After a 3 and out, Oklahoma State manages to tack on another 28 yd FG after their drive stalls to make it (28-13), but CSU answers back with a 33 yd FG by P. Love (31-13) and then with 41 seconds to play it was Jakari Magnum scoring on a 5 yd QB keeper to seal the win.

                      FINAL SCORE CSU-38 OSU-13

                      KEY PLAYERS

                        RAMS SURVIVE TULSA'S HURRICANE

Just 6 weeks ago Tusla was 6-0 and sitting in the Top-25, but 5 straight loss's including home loss's to K-State, Oklahoma and #14 Air Force have Hurricane coaches, players and fans wondering what could have been.

With 6 wins HC Will Muschamp has Tulsa at least going bowling something they havn't done since 2014 when they went 8-5, but a win here would be a big boost to their moral and maybe be the turning point they need to match that 8 win season.

Tulsa gets on the scoreboard first as T. Holloway connects on a bomb to J. Adams for 52 yards. (7-0), but the Rams tie the game (7-7) as Magnum hits C. Wright on a 21 yd strike.

In the 2nd Quarter the Ram's D steps up and limits the Hurricanes to just a pair of FG's (19 and 46) well Magnum goes to the air hitting FR W. Matthews and SR B. Baker on 9 yd strikes to put the Rams up (21-13) at the half.

Tulsa opens up the 2nd half with a score as Adams takes a sweep handoff 12 yds for the score but the 2pt conversion fails making it (21-19). CSU answer back though as Magnum hits C. Wright for the 2nd time (8 yds) to make it (28-19). Tulsa though fights back as Holloway hooks up with Adams yet again on a 27 yd strike to make it (28-26) as we head to the 4th.

The Ram's would open up the 4th with a Magnum to Baker 18 yd strike to make it (35-26) and then after a INT by CB D. Callahan it was Magnum to Baker on a 26 yd bomb to make it (41-26) but a 2 pt conversion by C. DeAnglis out of the wildcat formation makes it (43-26) with less then 5 minutes to play.

Despite trailing by 17, Tulsa wasn't ready to give up, as Holloway throws his 3rd TD pass of the day (32 yds to L. Evans) to make it (43-33) and then J. Magnum INT, it was Holloway to Adams again to make it (43-40) with 1:51 to play.

Tulsa would go for the onside kick and recover as D. Flanagan couldn't hold onto the ball, but the Ram's Defense would come alive forcing a 4 and out by the Hurricanes. Despite the 3 point lead, K-Moore wasn't going to force his team to kneel and instead let's P. Love connect on a 44 yd FG with 9 seconds to play.

                        FINAL SCORE CSU-46 TULSA-40

                        KEY PLAYERS

                        K-Moore after the game
"I am super proud of my guys' and how they finished. I know some people question my decision to kick the FG, but I wanted P. Love to get a taste of needing to connect on something over 40 yds out with some pressure. Who knows we might need him to kick something similar in the Big 12 Championship or in our Bowl game"
WITH THE WIN COLORADO STATE IS NOW (11-1) AND HAS THE THE MOUNTAIN PLAINS DIVISION OF THE BIG 12. THEY WILL FACE (8-4) NEBRASKA FOR THE BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIP

                          WEEKS 12-14 RECAP

                          BOISE STATE FALLS FROM #2

The Boise State Broncos perfect season is over and dreams of a National Title go with it, as they fall in Week 13 to former Broncos HC Chris Peterson and the Washington Huskies (35-28).

BSU would go onto win their final game of the season against Nevada (38-24) to finish (11-1) and will play (8-4) Oregon in the MWC Title game. With the loss BSU drops to #7 in the latest BCS Rankings.

PAC-12 TITLE GAME TO DECIDE WHO PLAYS IN NC?

The Odds are high that either #3 (12-0) UCLA or #4 (12-0) Stanford will play in the National Title game if Clemson or LSU can't hold onto the Top-2 spots

Clemson currently sits in the #1 Spot after beating #21 South Carolina (41-31) in Week 14 to stay perfect (12-0) They will play #16 (10-2) FSU in the SEC Championship.

#2 LSU is also still perfect (12-0), but they face #7 (11-1) Auburn in the Sun Belt Championship.

Wins by both Tigers squads will leave the Pac-12 teams out in the cold, but should 1 or both lose, whoever is perfect at the end of the year will be playing for a chance to be Champs.

GOLDEN GOPHERS WILL FACE OHIO STATE IN BIG 10 TITLE GAME

Since Minnesota hired Todd Grantham 4 year ago, the Golden Gophers have become a force in the Big Ten, going 10-4 and winning the Big 10 title in his first year, Grantham has the Gophers looking for #2 after going 11-1 this season. Their only loss was a (28-27) loss to the Buckeyes.

With Minnesota ranked #5 and Ohio State (11-1) ranked #6 it's unlikely either team has a shot at a NC spot but I guess if #1, #2 and #3 all lose, then the winner could jump to #2.

TEXAS TO PLAY BAYLOR FOR AMERICAN TITLE

#10 Texas (11-10) will put their Fiesta Bowl hopes and Amercian Championship on the line as they take on #21 (10-2) Baylor in the title game.

The winner will face off against the winner of the Big 12 title game (CSU vs Nebraska).

10-2 IS GOOD BUT NOT GOOD ENOUGH

Normally a 10-2 season is a very great year for most schools but this year #11 Pitt, #12 Alabama, #13 Washington, #17 Army, #20Texas A&M are all left sitting at home in Championship week just waiting to see the fallout and see if they have any chance at moving up in the last poll

                            RAM'S TEAM REPORT

                            BIG DECISION!!
Coach Kellen Moore has a big decision to make going into the Big 12 Title game as former starting QB Anthony Clayton returns from a Week 4 leg injury that caused him to miss the past 10 weeks.

Before his injury, the junior QB had passed for 1094 yds with 14 TD and 7 INT in the Ram's first 3 games, coming off a previous season of where he combined for almost 3800 yds (passing/rushing) with 36 TD's.

However in his absence FR Jakari Magnum has passed for almost 3400 yds with 25 TD's to go with 18 INT..

Now the question is does Moore go back to his original starter or has the freshman earned the right to finish the season as the starter and try and guide the school to their first ever Big 12 title.

VOTERS TAKE NOTICE OF RAM'S ON THE FIELD SUCCESS!!

Last season JR WR Brandon Baker made school history as he was voted as the Bilentikoff winner, the award for the best WR in the nation, as he posted 115 rec for 1683 yds and 16 TD's. This year going into Championship week, the Senior has 106 rec for 1716 yds and 13 TD's. With 2 games to play it's very likely he will surpass 2000 yds on the season and leave CSU with every school receiving record, and as a repeat winner of the national award.

Joining Baker as a National Award winner is several members of this year's Defense, a unit that doesn't get much praise in the teams writeups but has been a huge reason for their success this season.

3 players finished in the Top-4 vote in the running for the Bednarik including JR CB Drew Callahan who currently leads the vote over teammate JR OLB Jeremy Lawrence.

Callahan also is currently leading the way for the Thorpe award posting a nation high 7 INT's to go with 33 tackles, 4 TFL, 15 ATK, 2 sacks and 1 FF.

Well Lawrence is #2 in the Bednarik, he is #1 in the voting as the nation's "Best LB". The Junior has recorded 62 Tackles, 11 TFL, 19 ATK, 3 sacks and 3 FF, including 1 returned for a TD.

Callahan and Lawrence are not the only studs on the Defense though.

SR DE Thomas Fletcher is leading the vote for both the Lombardi and the Nagurski, posting 39 Tackles, 17 TFL, 19 ATK, 10 sacks and a FF.

                            (J. Lawrence is #2 in the Nagurski)

Teammate SR DT Matt Brown is currently 5th in the voting posting 39 Tackles, 14 TFL, 9 ATK, 7 sacks and a FF.

Last season SR CB Matt Lyles was named the nation's "Best Returnman" after returning 50 kicks for 1339 yds (26.8 Avg) and 1 TD. This season he is currently #2 in the voting with 47 returns for 1222 yds (26.0) but he has yet to take one to the house.

                            CLOSING IN ON 1000!!

SR RB Cameron DeAngelis needs 30 more yds to surpass 1000 yds for the 2nd straight season. Last year in his first action as the fulltime starter, DeAngelis rushed 236 times for 1181 yds and 13 TD's.

This season he 231 times for 970 yds and 16 TD's, including a game in which he scored a school record 5 TD's.

                                RAMS CROWNED BIG 12 CHAMPS!!!

In just his just his 2nd year at the helm, Coach Kellen Moore has guided the Ram's to one of the biggest win's in school history, as CSU battles the Nebraska Huskers late in the 4th Quarter before taking the lead.

Nebraska won the toss and elected to kick. The question everyone was asking was answered as JR QB A. Clayton led the offense out onto the field for the 1st series.

Clayton looked great despite not having played for 10 weeks, A.C. led the Ram's down the field completing 4/5 passes including a 24 yd TD strike to FR WR W. Matthews to put the Ram's up (7-0).

The Cornhuskers answered back though putting 3 points on the scoreboard on a 31 yd FG with less then a minute to play in the opening quarter, and then after a Clayton INT, it was M. Gordon completing a 14 yd TD strike to D. Fry to make it (10-7) as we head into the 2nd Quarter.

Clayton would rebound from his mistake guiding the Rams to the endzone yet again this time hitting SR B. Baker on a 11 yd score (14-10), but the Cornhuskers answered scoring on a 2 yd run to cap their 14 play series as R. Riley dives in (17-14) with 4 mins to play in the half.

Clayton however looked great completing 4/4 passes well also picking up a huge 1st down with a 13 yd run to set a 1st and goal, with less than 2 minutes to play. After a sack and a loss of 5 yds, it was 2nd and goal from the 15, but Clayton takes the snap rolls right and fires to B. Baker for his 2nd TD of the day to make it (21-17) with 1:28 to play.

A huge kickoff return by Nebraska put them in great field position and a chance to put points on the board but the Ram's D comes up big forcing a quick 4th down decision with 32 seconds to play. Nebraska decides to settle for the 45 yd FG to make it (21-20).

Despite having less then 20 seconds to play in the half, Kellen Moore gives Clayton the go ahead to try and make something happen after a 37 yd return by M. Lyles. The play however backfired as Clayton throws his 2nd INT of the day setting up yet another Nebraska FG as time expires, giving the Cornhuskers the (23-21) lead.

Nebraska would open up the 2nd half with their 4th FG of the day as G. Martin nails a 19 yd kick, extending their lead to (26-21). As CSU took the field for the first time in the 2nd half, there was a different # under center as FR J. Magnum takes the field. Magnum's entrance into the game however is short lived as the Freshman throws a INT on his 2nd pass attempt of the game ( the Ram's 3rd INT of the game) leading to yet another Cornhusker score. This time it was M. Gordon finding RB R. Riley on a 9 yd screen to give Nebraska the (33-21) lead with 3:13 to play in the 3rd.

Magnum however would redeem himself connecting with B. Davis on a 17 yd TD strike to make it a 1 score game (33-28) was we head into the 4th.

The Ram's D showed that the Cornhuskers secondary wasn't the only unit making big plays though, as K. Raymond picks off M. Gordon to on the first series of the quarter to set up a Magnum to Baker 5 yd score to give CSU the lead. The Rams would go for the 2pt conversion but fail making it (34-33). Then after another Gordon INT (J. Lawrence), Magnum goes for the homerun hitting B. Baker on a 33 yd bomb to make it (41-33) with 7:39 to play.

The TD catch was Baker's 4th of the day as he breaks the only school record he didn't have solo (shared a 3 TD day) and it also expands on TD total for the season (17) another school record. the reception was his 15th of the day and 126th of the season (expanding on another school record). The 33 yds gave him 221 for the day and 1930 for the season another expansion of his previous school record, leaving him 70 yds shy of 2000.

Nebraska however wasn't ready to give up and with 6:03 to play it was Gordon finding D. Fry on a 9 yd scoring strike and after the 2pt conversion attempt failed it was (41-39).

Leading by just 2, Coach Moore knew his team needed to put points on the board in order to seal the win and it looked they were going to do just that as Magnum leads a 10 play drive down the the 5 yd line to set up a 1st and goal. However after back to back runs that left them 3rd and 5, Magnum drops back and fires in the direction of C. Wright who was trying run a slant on the inside. However S. Carter read the pass perfectly and picked off the pass, taking it 95 yds to the house for the "Pick 6" score to put Nebraska up (46-41) with less then 2 minutes to play.

With both QB's having tossed 3 TD and 2 INT on the day, many wondered including K. Moore on which QB should be out there to lead the final drive. In the end it was FR J. Magnum coming back out.

Magnum put the "Pick 6" behind him though and focused on what he needed to do, as the Freshman completed 6/7 pass's to set up yet another 1st and goal opportunity. This time though instead of having to go to the air, it was C. DeAngelis taking the snap out of the Wildcat as he dives in from 2 yds out. Leading (47-46), Coach Moore inserted A. Clayton for a 2pt attempt, and Clayton delivered keeping the ball and scrambling in for the score to make it a 3 point game with 9 seconds to play.

                                Coach Moore after the game
"I am super proud of these guy's we battle from start to finish and never gave up. Baker and DeAngelis were huge for us today and I felt like playing both Clayton and Magnum was the right call, A.C. doesn't deserve to lose his spot because of a injury but at the same time Jakari is having a career year and if it wasn't for his play we wouldn't had even been able to play in this game. At this point the plan will be to do the same and give them both a chance to make plays for us in the bowl game"
WITH THE WIN, COLORADO STATE IS NOW (12-1) AND SITS #8 IN THE FINAL BCS POLL OF THE YEAR.
