Almost a year since I started this thread. A whole lot has changed in my life. Some of you guys that were here from my first dynasty know I was big into basketball, I wanted to go D1. I haven't touched a basketball in months now. I haven't played a game of NCAA 14 since December 26th, 2018. That's the date the pics from the CMU game were taken. My original Westlake State thread was created in the summer of 2017. I was 15, going into my junior year, and I was doing everything I could to make it to the next level in basketball. I graduate highschool on Thursday. Basketball ended up not working out for me. Combination of things. I burnt out from working too hard, I never really liked the sport because it was never something that was just a hobby, and I met trash people who cared more about winning a few games than seeing kids develop as players and people. That's the short version.
Then the 2018 World Cup rolled around, and I got back into soccer which was my first love, the sport I hadn't played since I was about 12. I'm really f--king talented. I'm good enough that I walked into several high level teams with guys that had been playing for a decade. I could have played semi-professionally this past year if the club didn't want to force me into their u18s so they could charge me ridiculous amounts. If the horrible pay to play system wasn't an issue I'd be at a higher level than where I currently am. I have a very good shot at playing in uni this fall despite just picking it up again 11ish months ago. Sky is the limit for me there, and it's really all I've been doing the last few months. I have a legitimate shot at going pro, I think, so that's priority 1. Of course I had to make sure I got into school so I could play, and my grades were awful to start the year, 69 average, but I'm now sitting somewhere in the low to mid 80s before my exam results come back. I was in danger of not getting into a good school, but I'm going to the university I wanted to attend, into one of my top choices program-wise. On top of that I of course have a social life. This dynasty is just a little side hobby, and I don't want to stress myself out over it.
I'm going to set my Xbox back up in the next few days, and get this thing rolling again. But it's gonna be different from most of the dynasties on here. I've always had a vision of a rich, deep, fleshed-out college football landscape that I'd create, but the reality is I don't have the time for that. I'll leave that to others. I'm just going to burn through seasons, and take 2-3 days after each season to recap it and do the offseason. So no game previews, week to week updates, recruiting or any of that sadly. Just a little preseason, big season recap, then an offseason recap. Maybe a midseason then end of season? Not sure yet. That's gonna be the best course of action for me, as much as I love doing the little stuff. I'll of course take notes of interesting stuff that happens during the year to put in there. No concurrent M25 CCM with the players from the dynasty either. Just no time, but I do love NCAA, I do love sharing my dynasty on here, and it always feels good when people comment, that people like something I've created.
I wrote a ridiculous amount there, but WESTLAKE STATE IS BACK!
