What a big win for this team after falling to Bama. Mason has been tremendous and his play has to give this program hope.

Mason has had a bit of an up-and-down season, but there's no question, he is the catalyst that sparks this team. I truly feel like we can win a championship with this guy. Hopefully he continues to build on this season's momentum and proves me right next year. Most, if not all of his main supporting cast should be back next fall.

Yep, we've seen it several times already in this dynasty. A big loss to Bama could have easily led to two straight losses. Now hopefully we can close out the year on a nice winning streak and maybe finish in the top 10!

Agreed man, those white helmets look great, especially in the sunlight. I will definitely have to try to break those out more often next year. I was worried that the white helmet, white jersey, gold pants combo may look a little goofy, but I think they came out pretty sharp-looking in the pics I think.

Game 11, Year 1 Preview (2027 season): Arkansas Razorbacks at #15 LSU Tigers

            ....................13 1/2....................

Game Capsule: LSU hosts Arkansas on Saturday in their annual "Battle for the Golden Boot" rivalry matchup, a rivalry series that dates all the way back to 1901, and was further enhanced once the Razorbacks joined the Southeastern Conference in 1992.

The two teams last met a season ago, with Arkansas coming away with a 31-26 victory in Fayetville despite Tigers WR Joe Burnett and TE Lucas Rodgers each notching 130+ yard receiving days. In 2025, a 267-yard 4-touchdown performance by QB Rob Mason also was not enough, as the Razorbacks knocked off the Tigers 31-28 at Baton Rouge.

LSU is coming into this weekend's game as nearly a two touchdown favorite, but it is worth nothing that the team has lost each of its past three games to Arkansas, with their last win coming in a 21-14 comeback win at Baton Rouge in 2023.

First year LSU head coach D. Geezy also struggled a bit in his final seasons as Tulane's head coach win facing the Razorbacks, dropping 2 of his last 3 contests versus the school. A year ago, Arkansas RB Courtney Gilmore rushed for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns as his team upset Geezy's Green Wave 29-20 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Your score prediction is pretty much right in-line with the betting spread. I hovered between 11.5 and 14.5 initially, but decided that based on their game results, and the homefield advantage, LSU should be about a two touchdown favorite, despite the two teams being just about even talent-wise.

You've been pretty spot-on with your predictions as far as picking the winner so that's a positive sign for this week. :::knocks on wood:::

Time to get this game in right now and see if the trend continues for at least another week!

                    N/R 30 -- 5-6 (4-4)
                    #15 20 -- 7-4 (5-3)

Arkansas RB Eric Griffin rushed for 155 yards, including this second quarter touchdown which helped the Razorbacks amass a 24-3 lead.

#15 LSU gets down big early, unable to complete second half rally in stunning 30-20 loss to Arkansas | "Perfect storm of events" leads to disappointing upset in Tigers' home finale, ends bid for first double digit win season in 7 years | Team hopes to end regular season on a high note following unexpected setback, will travel to Norman next week to face 5-6 Oklahoma squad vying to become bowl eligible following a poor start to the season

Baton Rouge, LA -- Each of the last two times first year LSU head coach and former Tulane head coach D. Geezy faced Arkansas in a home game has resulted in upset losses, including a 29-20 defeat for the Green Wave versus the Razorbacks last season at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Unfortunately for Geezy and LSU fans, that trend continued this year, as the homestanding Tigers got down 24-3 early and could not recover, falling to arch-rival Arkansas 30-20 Saturday evening at Death Valley. Arkansas (5-6) went on a 6-play 78-yard opening drive march that resulted in a 3-yard touchdown run by RB Courtney Gilmore, setting the tone for a long day for the Tigers.

Arkansas QB Albert Mann directed a 6-play 78-yard opening touchdown drive, and the Razorbacks never looked back.

Razorbacks freshman FB Bo Wells' 6-yard second quarter touchdown carry made the score 14-3 in the second quarter. And later, RB Eric Griffin scored from 13 yards away, his only score on what was a big day for him, which gave his team its commanding 21-point lead.

"I've coached in this conference long enough to know that if you don't bring your 'A' game, week-in and week-out, you could be in for some very long evenings," said Geezy. "I feel like we just didn't show up today the way we needed to, and that's on me.

Despite being down big early, LSU was able to respond to the initial body blows they received and make a game out of it. QB Rob Mason's 6-yard touchdown pass to RB Scottie Rodgers made the score 24-10 with 2:46 to go in the second quarter. However, a gamble late in the first half would hurt the Tigers' chances of a comeback significantly.

With the ball at the Razorbacks' 6-yard line and only :05 remaining in the half, Geezy would decide to go for the touchdown rather than play it safe and take the three points via a field goal. Mason was able to hit WR Joe Burnett on a slant route, however the junior receiver was corralled by Arkansas OLB Marcus Wheeler literally inches from the goal line, as the final second of the half ticked away, resulting in no points and the score remaining at 24-10 at half.

"I think if we score there, there's probably no stopping us the rest of the way," said LSU offensive coordinator Anthony High. "I felt like we had the right play called and going for the touchdown there was the right call; their defender just made a hell of a play."

In the second half, more frustrations and missed opportunities would haunt the Tigers.

On the very first possession of the third quarter, Mason had WR Glen Walker wide open deep likely for a touchdown, however heavy pressure from Arkansas' stout defensive line resulted in a hurried pass under duress and the ball ended up in the awaiting hands of DE John Wallace, who was in coverage on the zone blitz play.

Later, in the fourth quarter after Mason hooked up with WR Russell Stephens for a 29-yard touchdown to cut the deficit to 24-20 just a couple of possessions earlier, the Tigers got the football back after a Razorbacks punt with 6:28 remaining and a chance to take the lead. Unfortunately on this day, it just wasn't mean to be.

On the very first play of the potential go-ahead drive, a playaction pass attempt by Mason to Walker would get picked off by Razorbacks junior FS Dominic Carter. Once again, pressure from the Arkansas defensive line, this time from DE Kris Rice, played a role in the errant pass.

LSU rallied in the second half and found themselves down 24-20 with a chance to take the lead in the fourth quarter, however QB Robert Mason threw an off-target pass amidst heavy pressure and the ball ended up in the hands of Arkansas FS Dominic Carter with 6:28 remaining.

"They didn't light it up in the sack department but their defensive line was phenomenal," said Geezy. "They stymied our running game and applied pressure on almost every single snap today. Hats off to that bunch; I thought they were outstanding. But on our end we simply have to play better up front offensively."

Carter's turnover would net a 34-yard field goal by Arkansas PK J.R. Sapp that extended his team's lead to 27-20 with 4:55 remaining. Sapp, who finished 4 of 4 on the evening, wasn't done just yet.

Later, down by 7 with 2:41 remaining and facing a 4th and 6 from the Arkansas' 33-yard line, the Tigers were forced to go for it. Unfortunately, they were not able to convert, as Mason's pass to the end zone to TE Lucas Rodgers' sailed over his head incomplete, turning the ball over on downs.

LSU was unable to corral RB Eric Griffin as the senior carried the ball 25 times for 155 yards, helping Arkansas win the time of possession battle and preserve the 24-3 lead they amassed.
The Razorbacks, aided by a 52-yard screen pass reception by Griffin that put the ball deep into LSU territory on the very next play following the turnover on downs, would put the game away when Sapp capped off his big day by converting on a season-long 56-yard field goal attempt, making the score 30-20 with less than two minutes to go.

Griffin finished the game with 25 carries for 155 yards and a score, helping his team to salt away the game in crunch time, and his clutch reception and run after the catch near the end of the game provided the dagger.

"Not to sound like we're making excuses, but this was just a perfect storm of events today that cost us," said Geezy. "First of all, we missed (injured) CB Christian Darby. Even though they didn't kill us with the pass, they got some big completions against us in the slot with our top nickel CB Jerome Harmon being forced to play outside.

"Then there's the play at the end of the first half where we end up inches from the goal line, along with the missed touchdown early in the third quarter, and finally the interception when we got the ball back with a chance to take the lead. We cannot expect to win when we're giving away points the way we did tonight.

"Listen, we've played in a lot of close games this year and have been on the fortunate end of these things more times than not. But when you continue to play with fire and make mistakes, these coin-flip games are eventually going to start going against you, and that happened today. This evening showed us just how far away we are from being the type of team we expect to be and that we should never get too comfortable."

Next week, LSU (7-4) will close out its regular season next week at Oklahoma (5-6). The first game of a two-game contract signed prior to Geezy's arrival at Baton Rouge, the two schools have never faced each other in the regular season, and last met in the 2003 BCS National Championship Game 24 years ago, a game the Tigers won 21-14 at the then-named Louisiana Superdome. After a horrific 1-5 start to the season, the Sooners can become bowl eligible with a win in next Saturday's regular season finale.

Following QB Albert Mann's final kneel-down, the Razorbacks sideline erupted after pulling off a big upset win over rival LSU and setting themselves up with a chance to become bowl eligible with a win next week at #18 Michigan St. (7-3).

LSU players tapped the Win Bar for the final time this season as they headed to the field for their 2027 home finale.

Seen here in pregame warmups, QB Rob Mason hoped to build on his strong junior campaign under first year offensive coordinator Anthony High.

Arkansas RB Courtney Gilmore's 3-yard touchdown run capped off a 6-play 78-yard scoring drive to start the game and set the tone for the evening.

True freshman FB Bo Wells made the most of his 3 carries, rushing for 29 yards along with this 6-yard touchdown run that extended the Razorbacks' lead to 14-3.

Surrounded by some of the Arkansas contingent in attendance, an LSU fan hid his face from the camera after seeing his team go down by double-digits early.

RB Scottie Rodgers was corralled in the running game, gaining just 32 yards on the evening, however his 6-yard touchdown reception made the score 24-10 and helped keep LSU in the game.

Perhaps an omen that this wasn't LSU's day, junior WR Joe Burnett was tackled mere inches from the goal line by Arkansas LB Marcus Wheeler on a risky gamble on the final play of the first half, costing the Tigers critical points before the break.

Arkansas DT Andrew Finley's second half sack was his team's only sack of the game, however the Razorbacks' defensive line applied pressure on Mason all evening long in addition to being very stout in the running game.

TE Lucas Rodgers, as he's done for most of this season, brought his 'A' game, hauling in a game-high 5 receptions for 116 yards and leads all Tigers with 858 receiving yards this season.

Junior WR Russell Stephens got a step on Arkansas freshman SS Rashaun Jackson for a 29-yard touchdown that cut LSU's deficit to 24-20 with 8:32 to go.

Razorbacks PK J.R. Sapp finished the game 3 of 3 on field goal attempts, and connected on this clutch 56-yard conversion that made the score 30-20 with 1:42 remaining, and essentially put the game away.

Arkansas RB Eric Griffin won Player of the Game honors following a strong performance in which he carried the ball 25 times for 155 yards and a touchdown.

LSU true freshman LB Will McNeal, who leads the Tigers in sacks with 7 this season, hung his head as he headed back to the locker room after losing the final home game of his outstanding rookie campaign.

Bummer result against Arkansas. Sometimes nothing breaks your way. Close strong!

Crazy to see your old receiver in the Heisman ranks.

Wow! Interesting matchups coming up. Boise-Michigan UCF-Tulane, Battle for the Victory Bell, Reno-Bama, WVU-Texas, A&M-TCU. Should be some movement in the rankings.

Oh no... That's not good... I think that they were able to score quickly in the first half, and the Tigers just weren't able to get anything going. That's such a shame, really.

I definitely got caught sleeping at the wheel for this one. They got that early touchdown, and things just seemed to snowball from there.

It has been very intriguing to see how Tulane's players are used in these simulated games. I knew it would be likely that a random star would emerge, but I am stunned that Grant Brady ended up being that guy; he never really lived up to the hype for me.

I intentionally tried to make the end of season schedule a little juicier, and out of conference schedules as a whole more juicier than the default schedules the game puts out each year. These end of season scenarios this year almost couldn't have been scripted any better.

You hit the nail on the head. They just seemed to get early momentum and we were never able to recover. Sometimes, when you get down by two scores, you just know you're in trouble. You especially know you're in trouble when you're down by two scores and are forced to punt - it was at that point that I knew that this may be "one of those days."

Yeah I really want to finish the year off with two wins now. 9-4 is still a good year 1 record. It won't be easy though, as depsite their record, Oklahoma is pretty good on paper (B- overall rating), and I know the crowd in Norman will be hyped up for this rare matchup versus an SEC team, with a bowl berth on the line.

Game 12, Year 1 Preview (2027 season): LSU Tigers at Oklahoma Sooners

                                GAME 12 PREVIEW

Latest Line (courtesy Bovada - Las Vegas):

                                ....................Pick'em ....................

2003: Former LSU RB Justin Vincent (LEFT) carried the ball 16 times for 117 yards and this 18-yard touchdown, helping to propel former Tigers head coach and current Alabama head coach Nick Saban (RIGHT) to his first ever National Championship, in 2003.

Game Capsule: In a very rare matchup between the two programs, LSU (7-4) travels to Norman to face Oklahoma (5-6) in what will be the two schools' first ever regular season matchup. The two teams have not faced each other since 2012's Fiesta Bowl, a game then-#4 Oklahoma won over then-#8 LSU 37-16 in Glendale, Arizona.

The teams also met in 2003's BCS National Championship Game in New Orleans, a game the Tigers won 21-14 in their home state at the then-named Louisiana Superdome. Lastly, the teams faced off in the 1950 Sugar Bowl in New Orleans at old Tulane Stadium, a game the Sooners won 35-0 to conclude the 1949 season.

After a horrid 1-5 start this season, Oklahoma has won 4 of its past 5 contests, and hopes to become bowl eligible with a win Saturday night in order to avoid missing out on a bowl for the first time since the 1998 season.

On the other hand, just a few weeks ago, the Tigers had a 6-2 record and were set to play for first place in the SEC West, however they have since lost 2 of their past 3 contests, and are now just hoping to close out the year strong and avoid a late-season collapse scenario. The game will mark first year LSU head coach D. Geezy's first ever contest versus the Sooners, and the two teams are set to face again in 2028 at Baton Rouge per a contract signed between the two programs all the way back in 2014.
