A New Beginning: Journey to Greatness | ULM WarHawks

Monroe, LA - New beginnings in ULM Warhawks football. With the hiring of coach Matt Viator, they look to turn this program from losers to winners under his direction. With the help of Offensive of Coordinator Matt Kubik and Defensive of Coordinator Mike Collins They have been given 4 years each to help turn this program around and get it off to a good track. From the front office they aren't looking for bowl games or appearances out the door, but a form of progression in recruiting, and winning at least 3-5 games to start. ULM needs to establish themselves as able to recruit talent players and start winning and turn from a *1 to *6 eventually.

With Mike Collins 4-2-5 unique defensive scheme and Matt Kubik Mulitple offense of scheme, it'll be interesting to see how it goes.

    Head Coach Matt Viator:

It's going to be a fun year. Open the season with a bye week and then week 2 we have a rival game against Louisiana Tech. No top 25 teams this year, unfortunately. ULM isn't ready for that kind of competition. It might help bring some extra money in if we did, but that isn't our top priority right now. Possibly next year look for a top 25 team to be in the schedule.

Alright, I’ve deleted every post related to the Mocs I posted on my end. Since there wasn’t really any progression with the team, I just deleted it.

I would greatly appreciated if you guys could delete your posts related to the Mocs.... You don’t have to or anything, just be appreciated! Trying to keep the thread about ULM and if new people check the thread out, I don’t want there to be confusion.

Thank you guys for sticking with it! I’m getting this going today.

                  2013 Recruits Announcement

                  Associated Press

                  September 1st, 2013

                  __________________________

Via ULM Warhawks website, they have announced the top recruits they are going after. Looking at it, Coach Viator stayed within Louisiana and pipeline states such as Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi. He has ventured out to California and New Mexico for recruits. Good to see the coach stick to the pipeline states and build those up even more.
Coach Matt Viator said: " I think it's really important to stick to in-state recruiting and your pipeline states. Grow them and make them stronger. Plus we aren't a big program either yet. Once we get bigger, we'll expand accordingly. We aren't targeting guys who aren't interested in us. Going after guys who have us as their top school or in their top 3 only." Via Team website.

The recruiting class looks more Defensive heavy more than anything. Targeting DT, 3 Linebackers, two safeties, and DE. Offensively a Center, Guard, Fullback and QB. Rest of the recruits are WR which is pretty smart considering next season ULM will have 5 Senior WR's. Only 1 Senior WR this year. It is a start to turning this program around. A lot of freshman and sophmores on this ULM team.

Next Man Up | Starting QB Dexter Nass Out

Starting Senior QB Dexter Nass goes down in practice with an MCL Sprain. Looks like he'll be out of action for the first 3 games at minimal according to Coach Matt Viator It looks like QB Anthony Walker is getting the nod and only has a few days to really get prepared for a rivalry matchup against Louisiana Tech. Speculation did have Walker winning the job anyways, even if Viator wasn't going to say anything. Nass hasn't looked good all preseason where Walker has shown some impressive stuff and way improved accuracy. QB Will Collins will be the backup.
Coach Viator said: Bad news our QB (Dexter Nass) went down with a scary injury it seemed, but it turned out to be just an MCL Sprain. On a read option in practice, he took a hit and went to cut and avoid DT Tyler Johnson, he fell immediately grabbing his knee. After going under scans and visiting the local hospital, just a sprain. QB Anthony Walker will be prepared and be our guy until Nass is ready to go again.
Also, 3rd string Center Bobby Reynolds had his leg trapped and rolled up on on a running play up the middle. He is ruled out for the season with a Fractured Tibia. Bobby and Brian Thlang were competing for the backup role at Center. Sadly, Brian will be our backup Center moving forward. Bobby will go under surgery next week on Monday and we will provide any assistance needed for a speedy recovery."

Monroe, LA - Can the Sophomore QB Anthony Walker lead his Warhawks to a victory in this rivalry game against the Bulldogs? The Bulldogs own this rivalry. Winning the last 5 appearances. Can Coach Matt Viator lead his team to victory? The defense is the strong point for the Warhawks so it'll be interesting if they can demonstrate that or not. Look for the defense to make an early impression. If not, this might be another loss rivalry for ULM.

                      Game Projection:
ULM wins their first win in 5 years, 21-30. Defense steps up and QB Anthony Walker comes through with a solid performance. Bulldogs offense struggles against the ULM defense.

That it did suck that’s for sure. But oh well, sh** happens haha. I think it was meant to be. Finally got sliders where I want, idea how I want to do updates, more fluent, frequent now, and got a grasp on things as well. Even better, I can do the playoff mod to add more to the CM, so that’ll be dope. Then like you said not many Sun Belt Dynasties, so that’s unique. Eventually I’ll move, but for now it’ll be pretty cool! I’m pretty pumped!

Sorry guys, with Christmas around the corner, I've been extremely busy. I planned to get a game update out today but had stuff come up. I haven't even played the game yet. I plan to play it tomorrow at some point and potentially have the update out tomorrow night or Saturday morning. After Christmas, I plan to pump out content. Sorry! Soon enough I'll be getting this Dynasty rolling.

ULM Upsets Louisiana Tech | ULM Quaterback play is a cause for concern

                                Terry Ovine, ESPN Staff Writer

Monroe, LA - QB Anthony Walker walked away with a win for his team, but his performance was very shaky. Throwing for 400 Yards always looks good, but 3 Ints will always kill your performance. At times Anthony displayed beautiful arm talent and accuracy with great decision making and velocity on the ball. Other times, he couldn't make the correct reads, sat in the pocket too long or was missing completely. But not all is on Walker. The O-line was flat out bad at protection this game. Walker was under constant duress and sacked over and over again it felt like. Cleaning up pass protection is key or Walker and buying him some extra time. There will be a concern going into next week game. Luckily for Walker, ULM defense played outstanding and QB J'Mar Smith for the Bulldogs played poorly as well. Thankfully for Zazl Green being a big concern for the Bulldogs, it left WR R.J. Turner and fellow WR Xavier Brown wide open on crucial plays that left to Turner and Brown blowing by the defense for 63 yarder and 61 Yarder TD's. Green was kept in check but him being out there left other guys open.

Defensively the Warhawks were pretty stout. 7 Field Goal attempts were attempted by the Bulldogs. Any of those could've been touchdowns, but Warhawks defense came to play today.

                                Miscues:

Bulldogs inability to maintain drives. QB J'Mar Smith accuracy key issue and was the Bulldogs WR's drops too. Total of 9 drops altogether. Multiple drops and inaccurate throws lead to missing Touchdowns.

Feeding the Ball to HB Jarred Craft was a mistake. ULM wasn't containing him very well or the option but for some reason, they started to get away from that and air it out.

ULM turnovers but still came out victorious. Lacking consistent QB play in this game hurt the Hawks, but they held up on the defense of side. Thanks to a big play at the end the game saved ULM from losing this one.

                                Players of the game:

                                ULM:

Safety Collin Turner 7 Tackle performance
                                WR R.J Turner 3 Catches 141 Yards 1 TD
WR Xavier Brown 3 Catches 113 Yards 1 TD

                                Bulldogs:

Kicker Johnathan Barnes 5/7 and 17 Points
CB Damarion King 12 Tackles 1 Sack 1 Int
