      Nunyer's Notes

I was reviewing the sliders before the game and realized that while I moved away from the JKits sliders, I had overlooked the penalty settings. So this game was played with all penalties reset to the default 50 across the board... and I liked the results. While the CPU abandoned the running game when the game was still tied / within one score, they were primarily a passing team anyways, so no complaints. Also the CPU QB was very aggressive downfield... which was nice. It was a really fun game overall and I'm seriously doubting my ability to finish undefeated if the remainder of the schedule plays as well as Pitt did... While Tenn and UCLA are probably similar talent wise, Georgia Tech will likely have a much more talented roster and two of those three are on the road.

Dr. Schreibman was a placekicker for Niagara for three seasons starting in 1990. He is still the Rhinos all time leading scorer and has been widely recognized across southern Ontario as a Niagara Rhino superfan. His views do not necessarily express those of Niagara University.

MY STATEMENT ON THE RECENT ATTEMPTED ASSAULT
Over the years, I've been blessed to amass quite the local following based largely on my exploits as Greater Buffalo's 4th rated Plastic Surgeon (We're bringing back Taco Tummy Tuck Tuesdays! Call today to schedule your liposuction consultation and please specify hard shell or soft shell). But part of my following is based on my time as a record-setting Niagara Rhino placekicker. While I hold that time in my life very near and dear, I wish to categorically condemn the actions of my former fan club president. Lance may very well break the all time scoring record next week against the Volunteers. Let's wish him all the best!

RUMOR MILL: BABAJIDE TO DECLARE FOR DRAFT AT END OF SEASON
I can't say this rumor comes as any big surprise. Sources close to the team report that Kwame Babajide is leaning heavily towards forgoing his last year of eligibility to jump to the next level. While pro scouts do have some concerns over his general lack of strength being an issue at the next level, nobody doubts his raw elusiveness. The obvious comparison is with former Heisman winner Reggie Bush, as Babajide is almost the identical size and weight. While Bush had a solid NFL career, he never quite lived up to the 2nd overall pick. From what I've been told, Babajide would still likely go in the late 1st or early 2nd round, so I'd consider him good as gone at the point.

DEFENSIVE END MATT VOGEL TO LEAVE TEAM, KNEE REQUIRED MORE SURGERY
What was initially considered to be a minor knee injury has now been discovered to be much worse than initially reported. Junior DE Matt Vogel will require more intensive knee reconstruction and has announced he will be retiring from football.

"I had surgery on the same knee in high school, so this is a little bit scary. I don't expect to make a living from football after college and I don't want to be one of those guys in Wal-Mart using a walker with the tennis ball feet by the time I'm 40... I wasn't interested in asking for a medical redshirt. So I am hanging up my cleats."

Vogel is on pace to graduate with an industrial design degree next year but plans to remain close to the team. He states he wants to be a student trainer with the team as he rehabs his knee injury over the coming 12-16 months. Blaine Rothenhauser has played well since Vogel went down and is expected to finish the season as the starter.

IN LESS DEPRESSING INJURY NEWS: WR DOMINGO GARCIA CLEARED TO PLAY
On the bright side of the horrific damage this game inflicts on the human body, WR Domingo Garcia is cleared to play after sustaining a neck injury last month. Most of his snaps have gone to senior Tommy Kubiak who filled in admirably, including a big 79 yard touchdown catch against Florida State.

Kwame really is something else! Forgive me for not remembering, but what was his ranking when you recruited him?

              OFFENSIVE PLAYBOOK: Pistol
              DEFENSIVE PLAYBOOK: 4-3

HEAD COACH: Carey Brown | 1st year | 114-246 career record | 2-6 record at Tennessee
              2018 RECORD: 2-10

              COACH OVERVIEW:
With career record of 114-248, Coach Carey Brown started coaching college football in 1899 shortly after returning home from the Spanish-American War. You may ask yourself how a guy with 246 career losses continues to be hired? Well, turns out Coach Brown is a master of the dark arts and uses a potion made from the tears of crippled orphans to bend athletic directors to his nefarious will.

              TEAM RESULTS:
              L | 43-49 | #8 Florida (8-1)
              W | 24-14 | at Mississippi State (3-5)
              L | 17-31 | #1 Georgia (8-0)
              L | 24-31 | at Auburn (3-5)
              L | 16-28 | South Florida (5-4)
              L | 20-42 | #10 Alabama (6-2)
              W | 34-28 | at Ole Miss (4-4)
              L | 27-42 | Temple (5-5)

              TEAM OVERVIEW:
Although the Volunteers face a typically rough SEC schedule, they just haven't been that competitive in general. They've dropped games against mid-majors South Florida and Temple. The offense took a hit when they lost senior QB Derrick Lewis (87 OVR) in the season opener. Although he isn't a perfect fit for Coach Brown's newly installed Pistol offense, he is their best arm, putting up 2,400 yards and 20 TDs in 2018. His replacement has been sophomore Jeff Mitchell (82 OVR) who hasn't been asked to pass that much but does have 14 TDs against only 3 INTs. The offense has relied running backs Mike Charles (81 OVR) and Joey Long (80 OVR) who have combined for over 1,100 yards, 10 TDs and a 5.5 combined ypc average. Although he is having a disappointing senior season, the biggest threat in the aerial attack is Joey Bowser (96 OVR). A star on the Vols track team with legit Olympic level wheels (98 SPD / 99 ACC) and soft hands (93 CTH), Bowser should be averaging much more than his current four catches per game.

On defense the primary standout in redshirt freshman sensation Daniel Raymond (81 OVR). The 6'2, 259 lbs defensive end leads the team with 7.5 sacks and an impressive 17 tackles for loss. Another rising star is sophomore linebacker Lucas Fields who leads the team with 53 tackles and is equally adept at defending the run (87 PUR) or dropping into coverage (80 ZCV). The secondary standouts include two senior leaders, CB Jacob Harris (91 OVR) and FS Victor Hogan (90 OVR) have combined for 5 of Tennessee's 9 interceptions.

              TENNESSEE TOP FIVE:
              1 - WR | SR | Joey Bowser | 96 OVR
              2 - RG | SR | Desi Davis | 92 OVR
              3 - CB | SR | Jacob Harris | 91 OVR
              4 - FS | JR | Victor Hogan | 90 OVR
              5 - WR | JR | Todd Morton | 90 OVR

              TENNESSEE INJURIES:
              QB | Derrick Lewis (87 OVR) | torn bicep - Replacement: QB2 | Jeff Mitchell (82 OVR)

              NIAGARA INJURIES:
              LE | M.Vogel (84 OVR) | knee - Replacement: DE | Blaine Rothenhauser (78 OVR)[/QUOTE]

He was a 5-star athlete, I don't recall exactly where he was ranked in the athlete list, but I know it wasn't top 5... I think he maybe the 10th ranked athlete? That seems to stand out to me for some reason. A bunch of schools had initial interest and I trailed on him for a long time. Then I believe it was USC was leading and they must have signed somebody else and pulled their points because his locked % stayed at 73% for the last few weeks of the season. I was able to sneak in and nab him in the offseason round.

Really good speed obviously, I think he was 95 SPD / 93 ACC as a true freshman... He had a middle of the road QB arm as far as QB-centric ATHs usually go, and nothing noteworthy on defense or WR. He was one of those ATHs that was clearly meant for one position... as he would have been a mediocre QB whenever he wasn't scrambling.

His overall still isn't that great (90), but I think he might have lost a few points to a dice roll regression in one of the offseasons.

How dare that nutjob try and stain the great Timmy Horton's name by desecrating the best breakfast spot in the world with violence. Shame! Always love the fun little sidenotes, haha, I think we call all agree that Irv can't be a suspect; if he doesn't mind saying he's Buffalo's 4th highest rated plastic surgeon then I'm sure he's fine with being Niagara's second ranked point scorer!

Tough break with the injury luck and I don't think there is any surprise that someone with a season like Kwame is putting together would be likely to bolt for the NFL, especially a running back who is trying to limit their touches as the RB's lifespan is definitely limited. Obviously that makes finishing this season out with a title all the more important, as things may get dicey with the losses of talent next season.

It's funny you bring up the "Irv can't be a suspect" thing... as when djp first suggested that Tolhurst was going to break the scoring record, my first thought was to have Dr.Irv go full-bore ego-maniacal and put together the Nancy Kerrigan / Tanya Harding kneecap plot. Then I realized that I had grown somewhat fond of Dr.Irv... plus I didn't want to be bothered coming up with a new source for exposition info dumps.

As always your story telling is top notch... I realize Kwame is putting up big #'s but it seems like RB Overall's play a big factor in whether or not they leave early. I have seen several guy's run for over 2000 yds as SO and JR's and they don't leave until they hit like 95 or higher on their Overall.

                          Nunyer's Notes

Screenshot snafu aside, that was a another really fun game. Despite the now standard "fatigue reset" at the start of the 2nd half, I did seem to wear down their defense in the 4th quarter. Babajide was injured in the 4th quarter and missed the last 1.5 series, but thankfully nothing that will linger multiple games. Big plays were generally hard to come by and it was a bit of a slugfest.

A fun side note, one of my favorite dull renames, Jelani Opeyemi, transferred to Tennessee two years ago and we got to face him today. I had totally forgot about him and that played no bearing in the scheduling, the Vols were just a SEC team that I hadnt played yet. He had five catches but didn't spring anything big.

Ahhhh ok... I didn't know that about the overall needing to be 95 before they declare early... But to be honest it was in the back of my head a storyline possibility whether the CPU declared him or not... Maybe I just cut him, hide the body and tell all of you that he went to live on a farm and chase footballs through golden fields of wheat....

You can use the same editor that you used to change your stadium to make him leave early when you get to the Players Leaving section of the offseason. There's only like 3 field you need to change, it's really easy. Then you get a draft pick which helps with your pro potential pitch in recruiting.

You can also just edit his overall, raising probably his awareness through the regular roster edit at the end of the year before you move through the bye week and coaching hires. Which will at least raise his chances. Especially if you make him a 99 Overall.

Last year I forgot to change Griffin's weight and even though he was a 99 Overall he didn't get drafted, so I had to reload, adjust his weight and then he went 1st round. Also CB Max Kelly was 5'11 but only 165 and a 97 Overall he went undrafted. Changed his weight to 185 and he went 3rd round.
