    2030 SEASON PREVIEW

    TERRENCE SHARPE

    QUARTERBACKS
OK, Terrence Sharpe - you got next! Sharpe is the latest in a string of uber-talented quarterbacks who have had to wait their turn behind other uber-talented quarterbacks at Air Force. Now a 99 OVR fifth-year senior, Sharpe finally gets to run the high-powered Falcons offense. In spot duty over the past three seasons, Sharpe is 29-for-37 for 403 yards, four touchdowns and one pick. He has 85 SPD, 88 THP and 98 THA. Air Force has adequate backups in 86 OVR Joseph Greene (85 SPD, 87 THP, 81 THA) and 84 OVR Andy McNeil (85 SPD, 83 THP, 86 THA), but this isn't like recent years in which there's been a high-90s backup as an insurance policy.

    DANIEL WILSON

    RUNNING BACKS
Daniel Wilson is the highest-rated running back on the team by far at 94 OVR, but because he's not the fastest, his position atop the depth chart is precarious at best. B-Dawg wasn't thrilled he had only 550 yards on 124 carries (4.4 yards per carry) and three touchdowns last season. Sophomore John Gray is 83 OVR, but his 97 SPD and 98 ACC makes him a potential game-breaker. A scenario in which Gray plays in most sets and Wilson becomes the goal-line back, because Wilson's BTK might come in handy in short yardage. Gray has only 70 BTK. Travis Muse will start at fullback, with his biggest strengths being his blocking ability (78 RBK, 76 PBK).

    PAUL GIBBONS

    WIDE RECEIVERS
This entire season will revolve around the greatness of Paul Gibbons. Now in his fourth season, the 94 OVR/99 SPD specimen has won the last two Biletnikoff awards as the nation's top receiver. He has 315 catches for 4,329 yards and 67 touchdowns in his career. He already has the most catches and touchdown catches ever by a B-Dawg receiver. He is zeroing in on Earl Bennett's record of 5,002 receiving yards for Vanderbilt from 2006-08 in NCAA 2007. Alex Webster is the team's highest-rated receiver at 96 OVR, but he is the main slot receiver because of his 99 CTH and 86 SPD. Webster has been overshadowed by Gibbons, but has had a nice career with 197 catches for 2,735 yards and 20 touchdowns. E.J. Jackson is an underrated target as the opposite outside receiver to Gibbons at 94 OVR with 96 SPD, 99 ACC and 92 CTH. Gibbons isn't just all speed, as he boasts 98 CTH.

    GREG BLANKS

    TIGHT ENDS
Greg Blanks has a chance to win B-Dawg's first Mackey Award, depending on how he's used. He got in the discussion last year, catching 53 passes for 481 yards and 12 touchdowns. Blanks is 86 OVR with 83 SPD, 99 AWR, 95 CTH, 74 PBK and 71 RBK. His backup is 74 OVR Pete Bower, who is a slightly better blocker (74 PBK, 75 RBK).

    RODNEY DINGLE

    OFFENSIVE LINEMEN
Air Force finally has a respectable offensive line after years of putting 70-some OVR guys in starting spots. Center Byran Brown and guard Joe Clemons are 87 OVR, sophomore tackle Rodney Dingle is a future star at 86 OVR, guard Justin Hayford is 83 OVR and tackle Brian Flynn is 81 OVR. Hayford (93 RBK) and Dingle (87 RBK) will be on the right spot next to the tight end, so the Falcons will run behind them most of the time.

    MICHAEL BELL

    DEFENSIVE LINEMEN
Michael Bell will switch from right end to the coveted left end position at which B-Dawg gets most of his sacks. Bell is 89 OVR with 82 SPD and 86 block-shedding. He has 45 tackles, 22 tackles for losses, seven sacks and two forced fumbles in ihs career. Rasheed Ingram (78 OVR, 72 SPD) will line up at the other end. Tackle is a position of strength on this team, with three players 90 OVR or higher. Erik Carter (97 OVR) and Mike Taylor (94 OVR) will be on the field in two-tackle sets. Bryan McPherson (90 OVR) will regret not going into the transfer portal.

    ROBERT OWENS

    LINEBACKERS
At 93 OVR, outside linebacker Robert Owens has an opportunity to be a dominant force and haul in postseason awards. However, it's more likely than 84 middle linebacker Jeff Burton will be the standout on defense. For whatever reason, it seems like middle linebackers thrive while outside linebackers are an afterthought in B-Dawg's defense. Despite playing in the middle, Burton is the fastest member of the linebacking corps with 89 SPD. Owens is the best tackler with 94 TAK. Owens did have 18 tackles for losses and four sacks last season, so maybe he can buck the trend. The other outside linebacker is 88 OVR Mike Lewis.

    WILL HUSTON

    DEFENSIVE BACKS
Will Huston is pretty close to the perfect cornerback. The senior is 95 OVR with 95 SPD, 99 AWR, 99 man coverage, 99 zone coverage and 98 play recognition. Who knows how all of those sub ratings actually translate to the game, but they sure sound good. Huston has eight career interceptions. The fastest player Air Force has ever had in its secondary is cornerback Rian Caldwell, who is 90 OVR with 98 SPD. He had 56 tackles and two interceptions last season. Caldwell was recruited as a wide receiver, but moved to cornerback as a freshman. Michael Estes, an 83 OVR cornerback, had a solid freshman year with 50 tackles, five sacks and one interception. He typically blitzes from the slot, hitting from the blind side of a right-handed quarterback. Ron Stewart, who is 86 OVR, gets his first season as a starting free safety. Bo Rushing, who is also 86 OVR, returns as the starting strong safety. Rushing had 73 tackles last season.

    TIM McINTYRE

    SPECIAL TEAMS
Air Force's kicking game is in good shape, if you don't take B-Dawg's horrific stick skillz into account. Tim McIntyre is a 94 OVR kicker with 97 KPW and 97 KAC. He is 41-for-47 on field goals during his career, hitting mostly short ones, and perfect on extra points. Punter Mark Tate is 95 OVR with 99 KPW and 93 KAC. Tate's slight edge in KPW will make him the kickoff specialist. Cornerback Rian Caldwell, he of the 98 SPD, will be the primary kick returner.

      2030 SEASON, GAME 1

Georgia receiver Mike Hampton fumbles early in the third quarter.

Alex Webster is in the clear for the go-ahead 77-yard touchdown with 7:52 left in the game.

Alex Webster makes a catch for a first down on third-and-19 late in the game to help Air Force kill the clock.

      WAITING GAME
Sharpe lights it up in first start,
Air Force rallies to beat Georgia

BETWEEN THE HEDGES, Ga. — For Air Force football fans who have been waiting to see Terrence Sharpe take over at quarterback, it was worth the wait.

Sharpe threw for the most yards of any B-Dawg quarterback in his first start, going 36-for-47 for 518 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in a 34-28 victory over No. 9 Georgia on Aug. 31, 3030.

A nice chunk of those yards came on a 77-yard pass to senior Alex Webster with 7:52 left in the game, giving Air Force a 31-28 lead.

The previous record for passing yards in a starting debut was 473 by Western Michigan's David Landrum against Texas A&M on Aug. 29, 2015 in NCAA '14.

The biggest difference in this case was that Landrum was a true freshman just three months removed from his high school graduation, while Sharpe is a fifth-year senior who is 99 OVR.

Three prolific quarterbacks held the starting job during Sharpe's first four seasons on the roster, starting with Chad Rice in 2026, then moving on to Brandon Blount in 2027 and Brandon Hester the last two seasons.

"We churn out 99 OVR quarterbacks like it's going out of style," Air Force coach B-Dawg said. "Let's face it — it's NCAA Football dynasty mode. Play it long enough and we can all stockpile a bunch of Trevor Lawrences. I wasn't worried Terrence would have any nerves coming out between the hedges for his first college start because, in the end, it was me at the sticks, not a flesh-and-blood player on the field."

B-Dawg annually schedules a game at a major power to give his team a real challenge. The Falcons got that in spades from the Bulldogs, who led 21-7 at halftime following a scoreless first quarter.

Sharpe came out firing in the third quarter, hitting running back John Gray for a 25-yard touchdown and tight end Greg Blanks for a 6-yard touchdown to tie the game, 21-21. Tim McIntyre's 32-yard field goal gave Air Force a 24-21 lead heading into the fourth.

The Falcons caught a major break in the third quarter that probably altered the complexion of the game.

On the first possession of the second half, still holding that 21-7 lead, Georgia receiver Mike Hampton fumbled after making a catch past the sticks on third-and-10 with 6:27 left in the third quarter at the Falcons' 33-yard line.

"At that point in the game, after giving up 21 points in the second quarter, I was getting that sick feeling that we weren't going to be able to stop them," B-Dawg said. "That fumble changed everything. If they scored and went up 28-7, we probably aren't coming back on these guys."

Air Force had a major fumble of its own on the final play of the first quarter when Webster lost the ball just as he was about to cross the goal line after making a catch. B-Dawg hoped to challenge the call, claiming Webster broke the plane, but he was unable to make a challenge became the game flipped from the first to the second quarter.

Webster atoned for that mistake when, on third-and-15, he caught a pass coming across the field on a route that usually goes for 15 to 20 yards. This time, he made a cut that got him in the open field for a 77-yard touchdown.

After getting a field goal to go up by six with 4:02 left, Air Force's defense came up big when outside linebacker Robert Owens stopped a Chris Boone quarterback keeper on third-and-two with three minutes left, forcing a punt.

The Falcons were able to kill the final 2:51, the key play being a third-and-19 pass to Webster with 2:05 remaining.

Boone finished 21-for-23 for 286 yards and three touchdowns, the only incompletions being when he was hit while throwing and on a breakup by Will Huston.

Terrence Sharpe threw for 518 yards and four touchdowns in his first
      college start.

        2030 SEASON, GAME 2

Air Force linebacker Mike Lewis sacks Washington State quarterback Anthony Heinz on third-and-one in the
        second quarter.

        GROUND MIRAGE?
        Air Force running game rebounds
        in victory over Washington State

PULLMAN, Wash. — Does Air Force actually have an honest-to-goodness running attack?

        Probably not.

After all, the Falcons were playing Washington State, not an actual competitive college football team.

But, at least for one day, Air Force fans could watch their team actually run the football instead of resorting to a full-out aerial assault to move the rock.

John Gray ran 11 times for 133 yards and one touchdown, while Daniel Wilson ran 17 times for 108 yards and a score in a 38-10 victory over Washington State.

It's only the third time in the 13-year history of this dynasty that Air Force has had two running backs reach 100 yards in the same game. Trey Taylor had 192 yards and Jared Mann 117 against Texas-El Paso on Aug. 27, 2022 and Matt Howard had 172 yards and Marion Benjmain 145 against Colorado State on Sept. 21, 2024.

The ground success came one week after Air Force was held to 60 yards on 30 carries while throwing for 518 yards in a victory at Georgia. Gray led the team in rushing that day with 33 yards on 13 carries.

"Get back with me when we do this against a team like Georgia or USC," B-Dawg said. "We've really struggled running the ball for most of my time here. We've had some success with stretch plays when the opponents play man defense and leave one side of the field almost uncovered. When teams play zone against us, we can forget about running the ball."

As a team, Air Force had 247 yards on 35 carries, averaging 7.1 yards a carry.

Washington State was flirting with an upset early on, taking a 10-7 lead on a 38-yard pass from Anthony Heinz to James Bass with 5:46 left in the second quarter.

The Falcons responded with a 2-yard touchdown pass to fullback Travis Muse and a 25-yard scoring strike to receiver Paul Gibbons before halftime to restore the natural order of things. The touchdown pass to Muse capped a four-play, 91-yard drive that began with three long catches by Gibbons.

Gibbons' touchdown catch with 1:31 left in the first half was the 70th of his career, the most in NCAA history. He has 328 catches for 4,578 yards in his career. Sidekick Alex Webster surpassed 3,000 receiving yards, bumping his totals to 210 catches for 3,031 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Paul Gibbons grabs a touchdown pass. What's new?

          2030 SEASON, GAME 3

The Air Force mascot photo bombs Alex Webster after the senior receiver scored a touchdown.

Daniel Wilson scores the winning touchdown on 1-yard run as time expires.

Rian Caldwell is in the clear for a 107-yard kickoff return.

          ROBIN GETS HIS DUE
          Webster's huge performance sets up
          Falcons' walk-off win over Stanford

PALO ALTO, Colo. — B-Dawg has an absolute man crush on record-breaking receiver Paul Gibbons.

Hey, the dude has 99 SPD! What gamer wouldn't secretly (or not-so-secretly) lust for a player like that?

But don't forget about the Robin to Gibbons' Batman, senior receiver Alex Webster.

Webster has been overshadowed by the exploits of Gibbons from the moment them arrived together on campus, but it's Webster who has made the most impactful catches for Air Force early in the 2030 season.

Webster caught eight passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns in a 48-45 walk-off come-from-behind victory over Stanford.

The Falcons won it on a 1-yard run by Daniel Wilson as time expired. That touchdown was set up by a 23-yard catch by Webster with two seconds remaining. Webster caught three passes for 62 yards on the game-winning 10-play, 77-yard drive that followed Stanford's go-ahead touchdown with 49 seconds left.

"Webster is more of a possession receiver than a flashy receiver, but those are the guys you can rely upon in clutch situations," Air Force coach B-Dawg said. "Not that we can't rely on Gibbons, but Webster works magic in the slot ..."

(Let's take a break for one juvenile moment.)

"Or at least that's what she said."

(Back to your regularly scheduled dynasty report, already in progress.)

Webster has 218 catches for 3,228 yards and 23 touchdowns in his career, numbers that would make him a superstar in most dynasties. But he's played alongside Gibbons, who has 335 catches for 4,711 yards and 70 touchdowns. Gibbons is on the verge of breaking the all-time record for receiving yards by a B-Dawg receiver, Earl Bennett's iconic total of 5,002 for Vanderbilt in just three seasons from 2006-08 in NCAA 2007.

Though his repuation is as a possession guy, Webster has made two of the longest catches in the history of this dynasty so far this season.

His 77-yard catch with 7:52 left put Air Force ahead to stay in a season-opening 34-28 victory at Georgia. His 82-yard catch with 2:12 left in the third quarter tied the game against Stanford, 31-31.

"Webster runs great routes and can make that subtle move after a catch that gets him in the clear," B-Dawg said.

Webster's route-running acumen was important late in the first half as Air Force was crawling back into the game after trailing 24-7.

A 3-yard touchdown pass to tight end Greg Blanks got the Falcons within 24-14 with 1:19 left in the first half and cornerback Will Huston came up and stuffed a third-and-inches run by Tyrone Brown with 48 seconds to go.

Air Force moved to the 2-yard line and was out of timeouts. The Falcons couldn't afford to complete a pass that didn't get into the end zone or else the clock might have run out. Webster ran a slant past the goal line and caught a 2-yard pass with 11 seconds left in the half.

Suddenly, Air Force was back in the game, down only 24-21.

Air Force took its first lead of the game on a 44-yard field goal with 2:22 left in the fourth quarter. A 6-yard run by Brown put Stanford back up 45-41 with 49 seconds to go, setting the stage for Air Force's game-winning drive.

Terrence Sharpe was 5-for-8 for 76 yards on the drive before a toss left for Wilson was called for the winning touchdown.

Air Force is now 52-1 since starting the 2026 season with a 3-3 record, rallying from deficits of at least 14 points six times during that run.

The game got an ESPN Classic score of 1,507, ranking No. 8 on B-Dawg's NCAA '14 profile, including online games.

Alex Webster catches a pass that moved the ball to the 1, setting up the
          winning touchdown.

            GOOD RIDDANCE!
U-Dub senior airs it out 67 times
in high-scoring loss to Air Force

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — B-Dawg is glad he doesn't have to face Washington quarterback Kevin Hogan ever again.

It's not that Hogan beat his Air Force football team, because he was 0-3 in his career against the Falcons.

It's just that Hogan was such a pain in the butt to defend, particularly in the last two years.

Hogan attempted at least 60 passes against Air Force for the second year in a row in the Huskies' 56-31 loss to the top-ranked Falcons on Sept. 21, 2030.

Hogan was 46-for-67 for 492 yards and four touchdowns, while having two passes intercepted by cornerback Rian Caldwell. Last year, he was 43-for-60 for 525 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions. His totals were more reasonable two years ago, as he went 29-for-37 for 204 yards and no touchdowns or picks.

"Nothing stresses me out more than facing a team that just chucks it all over the yard," B-Dawg said. "We never had a moment's peace defending this guy. I'm happy I never have to face him again."

Washington could say the same about Air Force senior quarterback Terrence Sharpe, who was 33-for-40 for 347 yards, five touchdowns and one pick. Paul Gibbons caught eight passes for 100 yards and three touchdowns, while senior sidekick Alex Webster caught eight for 102 yards and two scores.

With Air Force leading 21-14 early in the second quarter, Gibbons caught a 3-yard touchdown pass to keep the Falcons ahead by double digits the rest of the way.

Mike Lewis scoops up a fumble that he returned 23 yards for a touchdown.

              Gray's 76-yard run puts Falcons
ahead in 38-35 victory over USC

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — It's amazing how one run can turn an average rushing performance into a great one.

Sophomore running back John Gray broke off a 76-yard touchdown run with 25 seconds left in the third quarter, giving Air Force the lead for good in a 38-35 victory over USC on Sept. 28, 2030.

It was the longest run by the Falcons in the 13-year history of this dynasty, one yard longer than quarterback Donald Hammond's touchdown run at Colorado State on Sept. 26, 2020.

The breakaway run gave Gray a good chunk of his 166 yards on 23 carries, an average of 7.2 yards per carry. Without that run, Gray has 90 yards on 22 carries, an average of 4.1 yards per run.

The run came on "buck sweep," one of only two plays (the other being "strong stretch") in which B-Dawg can hope to break off big plays on the ground. USC's linebackers were tucked inside the tackles, creating room around the right edge.

The game didn't start out so great for Gray, who fumbled on second and inches late in the first quarter. It was one of three turnovers that allowed USC to lead for much of the second and third quarters.

"I'm convinced the only team that can beat us is us," B-Dawg said. "If we take care of the ball, nobody can beat us. If we make dumb mistakes, we can self-sabotage ourselves."

After Gray gave Air Force the lead, Alex Webster scored an insurance touchdown on an 8-yard catch with 5:56 left in the game. USC scored with 34 seconds remaining, but running back Daniel Wilson recovered the onside kick for the Falcons.

The game was the coming-out party for defensive end Michael Bell, who had three sacks.

Paul Gibbons continued to make history by making his 350th career catch with 8:14 left in the fourth quarter. He broke the national record that is programmed into NCAA '14 of 349 by Oklahoma's Ryan Broyles from 2008-11. That real-life mark has since been eclipsed by two East Carolina receivers, Zay Jones (399 from 2013-16) and Justin Hardy (387 from 2011-14).

Paul Gibbons scores a touchdown on a 5-yard pass.

And Army is routinely in the top 10 in my dynasty. I’ve always wondered what would happen in real life if Army or Navy was in the hunt for the playoff. They pick the field a week before that game, and it’s a big TV show that’s already slotted for that week. Would they just screw over Army or Navy or postpone the show? My guess is the former.

400 career catches in the realm of possibility for Gibbons, that's crazy. How does he stand out from your other star WRs of previous seasons?

With Mr. Gibbons, I identified him right away as a player I could have fun with in terms of getting big career numbers. I know that players almost never leave early for the NFL in NCAA '14 (not even Trevor Lawrence did in my dynasty), so I would get four years with him.

These were the top two on my career receptions list before Gibbons came around. I think Alex Webster will end up over 300 catches by the time he's done. They've been quite the dynamic duo.

I'm behind on doing reports. It hit a really busy time of the year at work. I'm still busy, but not quite as busy. I'm hoping to get some updates posted soon.

                        2030 SEASON, GAME 6

Navy tight end Ed Rollins is in the clear on an 86-yard touchdown catch and run.

Navy running back Terrell Harrington ran 21 times for 279 yards and three touchdowns.

                        Are you sitting down?
                        Air Force loses football game

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — It started just like any other Air Force football game.

The Falcons scored the first 10 points against Navy and were leading 17-7 early in the second quarter.

Yet, it ended like very few Air Force games — with a loss.

The No. 1-ranked Falcons lost for only the second time in their last 56 games, falling 53-44 in a wild shootout to 25th-ranked Navy on Oct. 5, 2030.

"Simness confirmed," was Falcons coach B-Dawg's first reaction, quoting a line he once heard from legendary dynasty guru Hellisan. "Even I was beginning to question the legitimacy of our program. I have rarely taken the sticks the past few seasons with the fear I might actually lose a game. I guess we can actually get beat. We can't always find to pull a victory out of our butts."

What went wrong? (Or right, depending on your perspective?)

Too much Blake Tompkins and Terrell Harrington is what went wrong for Air Force.

Tompkins went 28-for-36 for 410 yards, three touchdowns and one interception to account for a considerable chunk of Navy's staggering 737 yards of total offense. Harrington accounted for another big chunk, running 21 times for 279 yards and three touchdowns. For good measure, tight end Ed Rollins caught eight passes for 160 yards and a score.

"We couldn't stop a single thing," B-Dawg said. "That's painfully obvious when they throw for 400 yards and run for more than 300 as a team. I might as well have just put down the controller and let the computer randomly pick a defense. We would've done better, I guarantee it."

Meanwhile, Air Force was completely dependent on a passing game that was erratic, at best. Terrence Sharpe threw five touchdowns and four interceptions. With 600 passing yards on the dot, Sharpe became only the second B-Dawg quarterback to ever hit that mark. Michigan's Devin Gardner holds the record of 659 passing yards set in an all-time ESPN Classic comeback at Iowa on Nov. 2, 2013 in NCAA 2012.

"You don't get 600 passing yards unless you're desperately trying to come back and you have zero confidence in your running game," B-Dawg said.

Air Force had 88 yards on 29 carries, a 3.0-yard average gain.

Sharpe hit 600 yards when he threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Paul Gibbons with 33 seconds left in the game.

"He was at 549 yards going into that drive and we were 51 yards from the end zone, so you know there's no way we were running or scrambling on that drive," B-Dawg said.

Also on the records front, Gibbons broke a major career mark. With 11 catches for 178 yards and two touchdowns, the speedy senior receiver boosted his career numbers to 363 catches for 5,089 yards and 76 touchdowns. He broke the long-standing record of 5,002 career receiving yards set by Vanderbilt's Earl Bennett from 2006-08 in NCAA 2007.

"Earl's record is one of my iconic marks, so that's a huge deal for Paul to break it," B-Dawg said. "It should be noted that Earl played only three seasons and never played in a bowl game, so he played only 36 games. He's still a legend in my coaching career."

The momentum of the game shifted during the second quarter, with Navy scoring 17 straight points. The most painful blow was an 86-yard touchdown pass from Tompkins to Rollins, who was wide open against an all-out blitz. Suddenly, a 17-7 deficit turned into a 24-17 lead for the Midshipmen.

Gibbons evened the game before halftime on a 9-yard touchdown catch, but Navy scored the first 10 points of the second half. The Falcons were chasing the game and could never catch up.

It's only the second time Navy has beaten Air Force in the 13-year history of this dynasty, but that's two more times than Army has beaten the Falcons.

"Army can take a look at the way Navy used Harrington and learn some lessons," B-Dawg said. "Army always seems to have a player get off to a great start on the ground, but then they go away from him. Keep feeding the beast if he can't be stopped."

Paul Gibbons snags a touchdown pass.

Air Force cornerback Michael Estes intercepts a pass in the fourth quarter.

Air Force cornerback Michael Estes has one of his four sacks of Oregon State quarterback Jermaine Gaines.

Air Force 'D' dominant in win

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — It's safe to say Air Force cornerback Michael Estes just put up a stat line never-before-seen in college football.

The 83 OVR sophomore had four sacks and one interception in the 10th-ranked Falcons' 45-7 bounce-back victory over Oregon State on Oct. 11, 2030.

Estes got his four sacks blitzing out of Nickel Cover-2 Blitz as a slot corner, usually on the right side of the defense. It's a play call that got wide receiver Paul Gibbons some sacks when he was being used as a cornerback in previous seasons. B-Dawg quit using Gibbons on defense for fear of injury.

Estes got his interception sorta by mistake. B-Dawg mass-subbed in the fourth quarter, but Estes showed up as the No. 1 cornerback because he's the No. 3 cornerback when the starters are on the field. Estes picked off a quick outside pass near the line of scrimmage with 3:10 left in the game.

"I've had players get sacks and an interception in the same game, but I don't think anyone's ever had four sacks and a pick," B-Dawg said. "Maybe a linebacker had a game like that way back in the day, but even my record-keeping doesn't have that information readily available."

Estes, who had six total tackles, was the star of an Air Force defense that restores its manhood after being abused for 53 points and 737 yards in a loss at Navy last week.

With eight sacks as a team, Air Force held Oregon State to minus-31 yards on 25 carries, 196 yards of total offense and only seven points. Freshman quarterback Jermaine Gaines had minus-63 yards on 10 carries, with no runs for positive yardage.

Oregon State entered the game ranked 122nd in scoring offense at 15.0 points per game, while Air Force was 102nd in scoring defense, allowing 33.7.

The Beavers' points came with 21 seconds left in the first half after Air Force took a 17-0 lead. Two third-quarter touchdowns enabled Air Force to put the game comfortably in the bag.

Ten different Falcons caught passes. Sophomore running back John Gray ran 14 times for 114 yards.

at Rose Bowl in rout of UCLA

PASADENA, Calif. — Jack Pittman and David Kelly may not ever do much in their Air Force football careers, but at least they can tell their grandkids they scored touchdowns in the Rose Bowl.

Not the Rose Bowl game, but the stadium itself. It's still a pretty cool bucket list item for a football player.

Wtih a 35-point lead early in the third quarter, backups got plenty of opportunity to play in 11th-ranked Air Force's 59-14 victory over UCLA on Oct. 18, 2030.

Pittman, a 73 OVR freshman fullback, scored his first career touchdown on a 6-yard run with 1:24 left in the third quarter to give the Falcons a 49-14 lead. He didn't have a carry this season before getting three for 20 yards against the Bruins.

Kelly, an 87 OVR redshirt sophomore, scored his second career touchdown when he ran a buck sweep 32 yards to the end zone with 2:56 left in the game. Kelly finished with a team-high 78 yards on eight carries, breaking off two long runs on buck sweeps.

Even punter Mark Tate got into the act, kicking his first career field goal from 23 yards out and two extra points.

"It's always nice to let guys get some stats in games like this," Air Force coach B-Dawg said.

If B-Dawg was so inclined, he could have padded the stats of his starters to get some insane numbers. By halftime, senior receiver Paul Gibbons had seven catches for 165 yards and two touchdowns and quarterback Terrence Sharpe had thrown four touchdown passes.

Gibbons didn't get another catch after halftime, with Air Force's starters getting pulled after a 2-yard run by fullback Travis Muse gave the Falcons a 42-7 lead with 6:02 left in the third quarter.

The gratifying part for B-Dawg was that the backup defense didn't give up a bunch of garbage points, as is usually the case. UCLA scored a touchdown shortly after the subs came in, but didn't score again.

"It makes me not want to put in backups when I see the CPU starters having a field day at our expense," B-Dawg said. "I'm proud of the way our No. 2 defense maintained a high level of play."

Air Force held UCLA running back to only 13 yards on 10 carries. If not for a 14-yard run late in the third quarter, he would've had a negative rushing total.

Paul Gibbons grabs one of his two first-half touchdown catches.

Daniel Wilson flexes in the end zone after scoring one of his four touchdowns.

Shannon Fields scoops up a fumble that he took 45 yards to the house to give Colorado an early 14-0 lead.

coaches Falcons to win over Colorado

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A lesser man would've reached for the reset button.

Or, as we used to say when our PlayStations were hard-wired to play online games, wiggled the cord to cause a disconnection.

Air Force was down 14-0 to Colorado before B-Dawg knew what hit him, as the Buffaloes took an interception and fumble to the house in the first 2 minutes, 19 seconds of the game.

This is where a gamer's integrity is tested.

If you reset the game, nobody will ever know. But you'll know, and you'll have to live with that stain in your soul for the rest of your life.

                              So, B-Dawg played on.

"I had no choice," he said. "I couldn't live with myself."

Besides, for a team that routinely blows out its opponent, the early deficit provided a rare challenge.

Air Force would fight back to beat the Buffaloes, 48-38.

It was the second year in a row Air Force had to rally past Colorado after giving up a defensive touchdown. The Buffaloes got a 78-yard interception return by linebacker Frank Johnson 1:24 into the game last season before Air Force pulled out a 49-42 victory.

This year, Andy Smart took a 42-yard interception to the house 55 seconds into the game and Shannon Fields took a fumble by quarterback Terrence Sharp 45 yards to the end zone just 1:14 later to give Colorado a 14-0 lead.

At that point, Air Force had run nine plays, two of which produced points for Colorado. The Buffaloes' offense had yet to take the field.

The Falcons would score the next 17 points to take a 17-14 lead with 4:31 left in the second quarter, but Colorado's offense came to life and kept the pressure on the Falcons. With a 3-yard touchdown run by Bryan Ford with 3:41 left in the third quarter, the Buffaloes had a 35-26 lead.

John Gray's 7-yard touchdown run cut the deficit to 35-33 entering the fourth quarter.

After a Colorado field goal, Daniel Wilson scored his fourth short touchdown of the game on a 3-yard run to give Air Force a 41-38 lead with 6:17 remaining. Wilson had an unusual stat line with 11 carries for 12 yards and four touchdowns.

Another unusual stat was Sharpe's 35-for-42 for 412 yards, because he didn't throw a single touchdown with all of that production.

Following Wilson's go-ahead score, Air Force got a stop on third-and-two by audibling from a zone to a blitz and forcing Darren Johnson to just throw the ball away with 5:35 left.

"The CPU knows what you're calling," B-Dawg said. "I have no doubt about that. One way to combat it is to completely change the defense at the last second. You'll be amazed how many times the CPU will just throw it away because it gets confused."

The Falcons then went on a 10-play, 58-yard drive that consumed 3:39 and ended with a 3-yard insurance run by fullback Travis Muse with 1:53 to go. A third-and-11 12-yard catch by Ray Russell to the 3-yard line was the big play of the drive.

John Gray makes a cut on his way to a touchdown.
