Columbia, South Carolina -- #25 Texas (5-2, 5-2) didn't give South Carolina (2-4, 1-3) a chance to even get their motors started in Saturday's 34-10 victory. When Le'Veon Moss carried South Carolina cornerback Trequon Fegans five yards into the endzone to open the scoring you just had a feeling then that it was going to be a long day for the Gamecocks.

It was, the Gamecocks mustered just 110 yards through the air and 214 total offensive yards all game. The Texas defense was all over the place today, senior defensive tackle Vernon Brouhgton was a consistent thorn in the gamecocks side if he wasn't recording a career-high three sacks on Gamecocks quarterback Colten Gauthier he was stuffing the run on the side, one of his sacks even forced Gauthier out of the game (queue the cheers from the South Carolina crowd).

The Longhorns defense as a whole recorded 17 tackles for losses and five total sacks.

"When I woke up this morning. I just had a feeling today was going to be one of those days. "Broughton said after the game. "Last week was tough on the whole team and it was up to us seniors to step up today and I think we did that."

Cade Klubnik returned to the starting lineup after being benched in last week's 51-14 loss to Oklahoma in favor of Hudson Card and the junior quarterback answered his critics with a solid performance, all be it not perfect. Klubnik finished the game 23-of-33 passing for 349 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception, although he also had a fumble in the game. Le'Veon Moss, like Klubnik has been inconsistent through the first seven weeks but the sophomore totted up 88 yards and a score on 19 carries on the win today.

"Bouncing back in the right way was key today." Texas head coach Russell Warner told reporters. "We had to lift some heads on Sunday morning that's for sure, the kids felt the loss when they returned to campus more. They knew they had to go out there today and give a team performance and I couldn't be happier with the outcome."

Jaden Alexis only took over special teams duties at the start of this season, but the junior receiver has looked like a natural and he capped off a top all-round performance today with a 64-yard punt return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter which sort of took the wind out of South Carolinas small rejuvenation.

The Takeaway: Xander Weems caught his 11th touchdown pass of the season in the win today and the true freshman leads the NCAA, with Florida's Xzavier Henderson three behind him with 8.

Next Week, #23 Texas (5-2, 5-2) play host to their first non-conference opponent of the season in Colorado State (2-5, 1-3). The Rams come into the game on the back of three losses to San Jose State, Wyoming, and UNLV in which they have been outscored 90-17.

Texas | Nicho Boudreaux out for six weeks

Defensive tackle Nicho Boudreaux will miss the next six weeks with an Abdominal Strain picked up in the weight room yesterday. The true-freshman has featured in small amounts so far this season sitting behind senior Vernon Brouhgton and junior Byron Murphy II.

Texas will now move to use a medical redshirt on the freshman lineman.

"We are very high on this kid." Texas head coach Russell Warner said. "We don't want him to lose a year's eligibility because of injury and the likeliness we would have him back before the season is finished is now low so we will seak to see if we can get him a redshirt and go from there."

With Boudreaux now out, we expect senior Sawyer Goram-Welch to get more playing time in spell on Brouhgton and Murphy II.

Texas | Four Stars cut their lists

Four-star athlete Leonard Neal (#11 ATH, No.62 247Sports) and four-star offensive tackle Isaiah Milton (OT #13, No. 198 247Sports) have both cut their lists down to their final three schools.

Neal's top three is as follows Texas, Texas A&M, and Florida State, with Milton's being Texas, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M. Leonard Neal, who plays cornerback, safety, and some quarterback at East Jefferson High School (Metairie, LA) will take his official visit to Austin in a few weeks when Texas hosts Missouri, whereas Milton takes his official visit this weekend when the Longhorns face off against Colorado State.

About what I expected against South Carolina, good win there. Defense really made it tough for the Gamecocks - I'm sure you'd like to go without the turnovers on offense, though. Time to stack some wins!

I would 100% like a mistake-free game but we just can't seem to buy one against anyone. These sliders by cgator22 over on the revamped discord really make you play the game, they are by far the best sliders I have ever used. As always my friend, thank you for checking in.

Austin, Texas -- 2017 against San Jose State (56-0) was the last time a Texas team shutout an opponent, well today the Longhorns did it again with a 45-0 win over a lowly Colorado State team. The win gave Texas its sixth of the season and that translates to the Longhorns being bowl eligible for the first time since the 2021 season.

Don't let the first quarter score of 0-0 lead you to believe that the Rams were even in this game once, it was just a Texas offense taking its time to find its feet in the game, and once they did there was no looking back. As soon as Cade Klubnik found Jade Alexis for the game's first score you could just see the imaginary flood gates start to open.

"Our guys flew around, and they cut it loose." Texas head coach Russell Warner said. "There was a confidence, a swagger we haven't seen from them in any other game so far this season. Now we just need to carry this momentum into the last three games of the season."

You just have to look a the defensive statistics to see what he was talking about, the Longhorns sacked Colorado's sophomore quarterback Reed Harris ten times in the game, the last time a Texas defense was anywhere close to this statistic was back in 1981. On top of the ten sacks, Bryan Allen Jr. and Nick Johnson both recorded picks on Reed with the latter being his first collegiate interception, along with that Anthony Hill who stripped South Carolina, quarterback Colten Gauthier last week did it again today.

The Texas defense also broke two records today when they held the Rams to just 104-yards of total offense. The other record, one set in 1991 was when they held the rams to just 25 yards rushing.

"It's such a surreal moment for me," Johnson said after the game. "I have been so close the last few weeks and dropped a couple, the guys were joking that it was never going to happen because of that, but it feels good to get that monkey off my back."

Another play that "got the monkey off his back" was Cade Klubnik. The junior quarterback finally played an interception-free game. Klubnik finished the game 23-of-29 passing for 305 yards and four touchdowns and took home the game ball.

Le'Veon Moss ran for 72 yards and two touchdowns. Ezell Jolly who has seen limited playing time this season also rushed for 33 yards on 8 carries. Texas had more than 400 yards of total offense.

The Takeaway: The Longhorns defense has now recorded 33 sacks on defense so far this season through eight weeks of football. That statistic leads both the SEC and the NCAA with only Iowa within touching distance and they have 26 total sacks.

Next week, Texas (6-2, 5-2) welcomes former Big XII, opponent TCU (3-3, 3-1) into Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The Horned Frogs handed the Longhorns their 9th consecutive loss of the season last year with a 14-3 victory.

Nice bounce back win against South Carolina and stat padder against Colorado State. Hopefully you can keep the winning streak going.

Hoping to see a couple more recruits sign in the very near future.
