GAME RECAP

Ohio State rebounded from it's Week 5 loss at home to Notre Dame by making a statement in their Week 6 win @ Minnesota. The Defense held the Gophers to just 2 scores well limiting them to 252 yds of Total Offense and allowing just 1/13 3rd down conversions, as Minnesota punted the ball 10 times.

Well QB Nick De La Rosa didn't throw for 200 yds on the day he was effective throwing 4 TD's including a pair of scores to McCracken and Te'o out of the backfield and leading 42-7 going into the 4th, Coach Miller dug into some of his trick plays as both WR D'Angelo Lowe and Nick Tull break off big touchdown runs (40yds and 57 yds ) .. For Lowe it was a hat trick day as he scores his 3rd touchdown.

UP NEXT

Despite the blowout win, the Top-10 rankings remained the same as everyone won or was on a "Bye" Week.. This means Ohio State will go into the Week 7 "Bye" ranked #10 . The Buckeyes will return to action in Week 8 as they host Pitt before taking their 2nd "Bye" of the season in Week 9. With their next 3 games all at the "Shoe" Ohio State will look to climb their way back into the Top-5 as they look to secure themselves a spot in the Big Ten Championship and a 1st Round Bye in the CFP.

RECRUITING NEWS

It was another tough week in Recruiting.. Coach Miller still with just 2 signed players lost 3 more of his Top targets including both 5* QB as Terrance Titus makes it official and signs with Oklahoma and Darien Atwell does the same signing with TCU.

Ohio State now has just 4* QB CJ Sisk (#482 Overall/#56 GA/#45 QB) as their only QB left on the Big Board for this recruiting class. With Abdul Diabate set to graduate and Nick De La Rosa having just 1 more season, Coach Miller was hoping to land a top tier QB to challenge Fredrick Clemons for the starting role in 2038.

Miller also lost out on 5* WR Kane Trainer (#24 Overall/#2 MD/#3 WR) who signed with Penn State and 5* RT Terry Yoder (#5 Overall/#1 PA/#1 RT) who signed with Notre Dame.

Miller

"Losing out on Trainer and Yoder is a Double Whammy because now not only are they not on our team but they are on teams we will face for the next 4 years."

*Despite losing out on 4-5* Recruits, Coach Miller still has 13-5* on this Big Board including the #1 Overall Player in this year's Class OLB George Brody (#1 Overall?#1 MD/#1 OLB)

GAMECOCK'S MAKE IT 6 STRAIGHT

You can say that the hiring of Coach Dees was probably a good choice by Jacksonville State. Dees has the Gamecock's off to a 6-0 start including 4 straight wins in Sun Belt play and a huge road win over Auburn as JSU continues to climb higher and higher in the Top-25 rankings as they look to make the College Football Playoffs for the first time in school history.

1ST HALF

One had to wonder how the Offense would respond without star RB Landon Wahl, well the answer is "Didn't miss a Beat".. After trading FG's to start the game.. Jacksonville State scored 4 times to close out the 1st half taking a (31-3) lead into the locker room.

With Wahl on the sidelines, fellow SR RB Eric Miranda had a solid 1st half rushing the ball 9 times for 81 yds (9.0 avg) and QB Quincy Genus put up 1st half #'s better then most QB's do in a complete game completing 14/19 for 253 yds and 4 TD's including a Trio "Hat Trick" to Steve "Hold my Beer" De Beer who finished with 5 rec for 84 yds on the 3 scores. SO WR Rashaud Hendricks who had a huge game win Week 1 returns to have a solid 1st half as well catching 3 ball for 60 yds well backup RB Ricky Vaugh steps into the 3rd down role as a WR snagging 2 balls for 25 yds. Former RB turned WR Matt Semple also continues to make big plays as he hauls in 2 receptions for 67 yds including a 35 yd TD grab.

2ND HALF

ULM opened up the 2nd half with their first touchdown of the day a James Roos hauls in a 77 yd bomb from Robert Iwuchukwu but the Gamecocks's answer the score with Eric Miranda's 14th TD of the season as he caps off a 14 play drive.

ULM opened up the 4th with another score as Brian Eaton caps off a long drive with a 1 yd TD run to make it (38-17) but that's as close as it would get as Coach Dees inserts his 2nd string including SR QB Stephen Penny who sees his first real game action of his career.

Penny would play well completing 6/8 pass's for 62 yds including 12 yd TD pass to former QB Dalvin Smith.

JSU would tack on 1 more score as Ricky Vaughn score his 1st rushing TD of the season..

RECRUITING NEWS

Coach Dee's wins big off the field as well as on, as Dees lands both 4* QB Dillion Hawkins who has decided to skip his visit to LSU and sign early.. Dees also landed 4* MLB Andre Draft who also will skip visits to Southern Miss and Ole Miss.

With Hawkins on board, we will now wait and see if that effects the decision of 4* QB Jordon Awesome.. Awesome could look to stay closer to home and play for the Vol's vs coming and competing for the starting job against Dawkins and most likely current #2 QB Vai Fotu.

With the signings, Jax State is now ranked #22 Overall Nationally and still #2 in the Sun Belt as Troy continues to stockpile 3* Recruits with 20 in season commitments (13-3*,7-2*).

INJURY NEWS

JR RB Spencer Coker will miss the next 6 weeks with a Broken Collarbone.. Coker one of the Gamecock's primary kick returners (11 returns 226 yds 20.5 avg) will be replaced by True Freshman Gregory Dobbins who will come off his redshirt season after appearing in 2 games this year.

Dobbins listed at 6'0 231lbs could help relieve Miranda near the goal line as the Power back in the I-Form and he will be the #3 RB behind Miranda and Vaughn.

Converted RB turned WR Matt Semple will likely take Coker's spot on Kick Returns joining Ricky Vaughn who also handles Kickoffs and Punts.

BUCKEYES ADD TO THE STABLE

With Seniors Cameron McCracken and Fredrick Tam set to graduate at the end of the season and many NFL scouts predicting that RS SO Viliami Te'o would be a 1st Round pick, Coach Miller was quick to add to a already very talented RB room.

RS JR Ja'Quann Britton would likely be the starter next season with former 5* DeSean Pryor projected as the #2 but that didn't stop Miller room adding to more very talented 5* Recruits from this year's class.

6'0 180 lb Xavier Segal is listed as a Athlete and could potentially move to WR with a very similar skill set to McCracken.. Listed as the #14 Overall Recruit in the class and the #3 RB. He is the #2 Recruit from the State of Florida playing his high school ball in Tampa.

5'10 236lb Quinton Nailor is the #15 Overall Recruit, and the #4 RB in this year's class. Nailor is also the Ohio Gatorade Player of the Year (#1 Recruit) hailing from Hilliard Ohio.. Nailor is the perfect replacement for Tam as a power back who still has elite speed (90).

Segal had offers from Penn State,Alabama and FIU well Nailor had offers from Michigan, Duke, Wisconsin and FIU

*Both players could redshirt and join Pryor as a 3-head monster in 2038.

Well adding 2 stud RB's will make any coach happy.. Landing the #1 Player in any Recruiting Class is a Head Coach's dream, and Millers dream came true today as #1 Overall OLB George Body makes it official, turning down Alabama and Notre Dame.

With the 3 signings, Ohio State's Class grows to 5 players (4-5*, 1-4*) and is currently ranked #23 Overall and # 5 in the Big Ten (Oregon is #1, Notre Dame is #2, Michigan is #3, Penn State is #4).

With the arrival of the Week 7 "Bye", we finally get a chance to sit down and talk with HC Matt Miller about the Buckeyes, Coach Dees and Jacksonville State and some FIU Football.


Coach first let me say congrats on your season so far.. You guy's had the quite the brutal schedule for your first 5 games facing 4 Top-25 opponents including #2 Penn State and you came away 4-1 and are now 5-1 Overall after your win over Minnesota last week. How do you feel about the season so far?

Miller

"To be honest, I feel pretty good.. With the games we had with LSU, Oregon and Penn State all on the road and to come out of those game 3-0 I don't think there are 2 many teams in the country that could've pulled that off"

Coach.. Cameron McCracken is off to another Heisman type season with 116 carries for 791 yds and 6 TD's so far this season. However this year you have also played him out wide as a WR and he has responded with 17 rec for 198 yds and 3 TD (all career high's) so far.. In fact his 17 receptions has him currently tied for 3rd with Orlando Riggs and Gabe Cobb Will we continue to see more of him at WR?

Miller

"For sure. Both myself and Coach Sneed have really been liking getting both Cam and Te'o on the field at the same time and moving forward we want to see Vilami Te'o on the field even more (35 carries 299 yds 8.5 avg 2 TD)"

Coach have you talked to Te'o yet about his NFL dreams.. Do you think he will leave after this season? We just saw you landed 2 more very talented RB's to replace Mac and Tam.. Do you think there is a chance we see 3 Buckeye RB's taken in the first couple rounds of the draft?

Miller

"We havn't had a long discussion about it. We both just want to focus on the season but I am sure it's something we will discuss at the end and my stance has always been if a player is projected as a 1st-3rd round pick I am not going to try and talk them into returning.. We got a great group of guy's currently on the roster and a great group of guy's coming in.. I am not to worried about our RB room"

Coach I got to ask.. You struck out on both 5* QB Recruits you targeted this season and currently only have 4* CJ Sisk left on your Big Board. How key will it be to find a QB for the 2037 Class?

Miller

"To be honest like RB, I am pretty happy with our QB's we have.. I think RS FR Frederick Clemens is going to be ready to step in even next year should Nick decide to declare early and we have fellow RS FR Julius Breida currently as our #4 and we have former 4* Cory Pears currently Redshirting who should be find as a #3 next year. If Clemons can produce anything like Nick has the past 3 years we will have a QB who puts us in contention to win ball games"

Coach speaking about Nick De La Rosa, before the Minnesota game he had a TD to INT ratio of 12 TD/9 INT.. With 4 TD's against the Gophers those #3 are looking better but INT's have plagued his career (24 INT's as a Freshman, 13 as a Soph, and now 9 in 7 games) What can you do differently to help him cut down on those INT's?

Miller

"I think our first goal is to always help our QB understand we do our best to give him 5-6 viable options on every play and not to get locked into 1 guy.. Despite having 9 INT's and Diabate having 4, I feel like we have done that with both guy's.. Right now our WR room is as talented as it get's.. I don't feel like we have a true #1 but instead we got #1A/B/C/D/E/F/G"

Coach.. Let's talk injuries and Pass Rush.. Currently you have your Top-4 DT's all on Injured Reserve as well as DE Shakir Hartage. You seem to have plenty of depth to cover the injuries but currently you guy's have only produced 9 sacks by players not currently hurt and SR Cortez Summer and SO Warren Colombo currently lead the team with 2 sacks each through 7 games..

Miller

"Yeah our pass rush has been pretty bad this season in terms of sacks, but you can't just a Pass rush just by sacks.. Alot of opposing QB's have just done a good job of throwing the ball away or getting it out to their checkdowns but that doesn't produce 1st Downs.. So really I think we are still playing some pretty great Defense"

Coach you just lost Starting SS Greg Robinson for the next 4 weeks with a Ruptured Disk in his back.. Robinson leads the team in INT's this year with 4 and has been a 4 year starter on the team.. How big of a blow is that?

Miller

"Huge.. We already are missing MLB Eric Clemens one of our other Defensive Captains and now to lose another is huge. Paul Shoefield (2 INT) has stepped up but we have but our other 4 starters in the secondary are either True Freshman or Redshirt Freshman.. It's tough not having a veteran leader on the field and we are currently playing without 4 guy's who were starters in Week 1..

Coach.. We got time for a few more questions.. First how shocked are you by the success that Coach Dee's is having at Jacksonville State?

Miller

"To be honest I am not shocked at all.. Clayton and I talked alot about the type of program he was looking for when he finally made the jump to HC.. He was offered alot of job opportunities but I think he made the right call going where he went.. The Gamecock's roster has alot of talent on it for a team that competes in the Sun Belt.. I will say I was surprised when he beat Auburn in Week 2 but I honestly felt like 10-11 win season was probably what he would accomplish and to be honest I think going to build that program up just like I did with FIU.. Heck this year he has those guy's putting up bigger #'s in the offense then we are"

Coach speaking about Offense.. When you came to FIU, you made the FB a key role in your rushing attack.. Coach Dees appears to be running pretty much the same Offense he played in as a player for you and as the OC at FIU and FB continues to be a huge part of that rushing attack. What else do you think makes your run game work so well?

Miller

"To be honest it always starts with the O-line.. You build a great 0-line and you will have a talented Offense that can do it all. A FB who is quick and can get outside and seal the edge and block that OLB, a TE who can help the Tackle seal off the DE's and big Physical WR's who can block the DB's are all Big pieces to the puzzle but a Puzzle isn't complete without all the pieces and the final and most important piece is the RB.. We have been blessed to recruit some very talented guy's over the year's and it's my job to keep finding them."

Coach.. One last question.. How surprised are you by the success FIU is having in their first season in the SEC (currently 2-1, they lost to Auburn in Week 7 44-36).

Miller

"Again not really surprised at all. Coach Valdez lead the team to 2 Natty's and almost a 3rd..Yes they lost a huge part of their Offense but they know how to beat good teams (Beat LSU, beat Arkansas and beat Virginia Tech).. They still have Georgia Tech and Miami who they have played the past 5 years and I honestly think they are favored to beat Miss State, Clemson, FSU and Florida, so really their only big challenge left is Georgia as they won't face Alabama in the regular season. I think they could very well end up 10-2 and probably make a SEC Championship as long as they stay healthy"

Yeah. I think I am going to stick with my plans of having them play at least 2 years in the Sun Belt. I feel like if they can win back to back Sun Belt titles and make the playoffs then I will look at either moving them to the American and have them play in the Midwest/South Division with Missouri, Vanderbilt, Memphis, Middle Tennessee or I might just move them to the SEC and demote Miss State who is currently the worst team in the Conference... Another option is kicking out Clemson to the ACC and moving Tennessee back to the other division and putting Jacksonville in with Alabama and Auburn but 2 years might be too soon to pull that move. I sorta like the idea of Sun Belt for 2 years then the American for 2 because then I would have a full roster of my recruits before trying to take on the SEC. Only other option would be to rebuild the Big 12 and add in some other Southern schools putting them up against the Texas and Oklahoma schools.

BUCKEYES DROP 80 ON PITT!!!

GAME RECAP

Fresh off their Week 7 "Bye" Week Coach Miller and the Ohio State Buckeyes left little doubt among those watching at home that despite a #7 ranking in the Top-25 polls they are still the team to beat this season as they prove once again to have one of the most explosive offenses in college football.

Ohio State jumped out to a early (21-7) lead in the 1st Quarter as all 3 RB's scored (McCracken 2 yd pass, Tam 2 yd run Te'o 12 yd run).

Ohio State extended the lead to (35-7) as Orlando Riggs hauls in a 31 yd score from De La Rosa and Fredrick Tam scores his 2nd rushing touchdown of the game.

Nick De La Rosa continued to play one of his best game's of the season as he hits Riggs for a 19 yd score to open up the 2nd half scoring making it (42-7). Pitt answers back though with their 2nd score of the day as Dion Morris hauls in a 65 yd bomb from QB Curtis Battles, but Ohio State answers the points with more points as De La Rosa and Riggs hookup for the "Hat Trick" as Riggs hauls in a 55 yd touchdown to make it (49-14).

For De La Rosa his day was done. The JR QB would finish the game 14/20 (70%) for 311 yds with the 4 TD's.

Ohio State however wasn't done scoring.. The Buckeyes added another touchdown as Te'o breaks free for a 29 yd score for his 2nd rushing TD of the game and with 21 seconds to play in the 3rd, Lamar Dugans connects on a 48 yd FG to make it (69-14) going into the 4th.

With De La Rosa out of the game, it was Redshirt Freshman Fredrick Clemons under center for the Buckeyes as Coach Miller wanted to get a extended look at his future QB..

Clemens entered the game having attempted just 2 pass's on the year but played well in the 4th throwing 3 Touchdowns well completing 7/15 pass's for 104 yds.. Yes 3 TD's and if your doing the math then yes that means Ohio State score 80 points which was their highest total since scoring 83 points against Iowa back in 1950 and was the 4th highest scoring game in Buckeye history. (They scored 128 points against Oberlin College in 1916).

Clemons connected on scoring pass's of 6 yd (N. Tull) 15 yds (D. Lowe) and 19 yds (C. McCracken).

Well both De La Rosa and Clemens both had great games, the MVP/Player of the Game goes to SR RB Cameron McCracken who finished the game almost 300 All-Purpose yards on the day, rushing 13 times for 152 yds well also leading the team with 7 rec for 137 yds aand 2 TD.

With McCracken resting for most of the 2nd half, Viliami Te'o matched McCracken's 13 carries with 13 of his own going for 160 yds and the 2 scores.

UP NEXT

The Buckeyes will now have another "Bye" Week before returning to action at home hosting Nebraska as they go for their 7th win of the season.

The Gamecock's win streak is cooked as Jax State commits 5 turnovers resulting in their first loss of the season... Jacksonville State trailed most of the game but did lead midway through the 3rd Quarter but the Eagles answer the call to retake the lead and then a "Pick 6" INT gives Georgia Southern the 10 point lead going into the 4th.

Jacksonville State would cut the lead to 3 points as Eric Miranda scores and the Gamecock's had a chance to try and get in FG position during regulation but Fatu would throw a game sealing INT as Georgia Southern runs out the clock..

For Jax State it was their worst offensive output of the season as they manage to convert just (1) 3rd down as they rush for a season low 108 yds.

With the loss Jacksonville State drops from #15 to completely outside the Top-25 most likely killing their chances at the playoffs should they lose a 2nd game. The Gamecock's will look to rebound with a win next week.. With both QB's struggling it will be a game time decision on who starts.

RECRUITING

It was another tough week in Recruiting for Coach Miller 8 players on the Top-25 sign elsewhere including (7) 5* Recruits.

DT Martin Flowers (#8 Overall/#2 WA/#1 DT) visited Columbus in Week 7 and had the Buckeyes #1, over USC and Boise State but decided last minute to cancel his visit to USC and signed instead shocked everyone when he announced he was headed to FIU..

DE David Bee (#23 Overall/#5 TX/#2 DE) was scheduled to visit this week but instead has decided staying close to home is a bigger priority and instead signed with Texas A&M.

DE LaMarcus Brockel (#28 Overall/#2 OH/#1 DE) is from Cleveland Ohio but instead of waiting to visit Columbus next week has declared he will be a Purdue Boilermaker.

Brockel won't be the only Defensive player OSU QB's will see for the next 4 years as DT Deonte Ryder (#30 Overall/#1 NJ/#5 DT) has signed with Penn State.

Staying with the trend, Ohio State lost out on another 5* to the Notre Dame Irish as 5* DE Tim Tonges (#32 Overall/#3 PA/#2 DE) committs.

5* WR Jacolby Moronkola (#27 Overall/#4 GA/#4 WR) and 4* TE Maurice Peace (#43 Overall/#5 FL/#1 TE) both signed with Alabama.

Well those 8 didn't sign.. Miller did manage to land 5* CB Cornell Spears (#10 Overall/#1GA/#2 CB) from Marietta GA.. Listed at 5'11 204lbs, Spears could see a move to Safety in his future as Ohio State already has 7 Freshman CB's on the the roster either playing or redshirting.

With Spears on board, Ohio State's class now sits at 6 players (5-4*, 1-4*) and ranked #20 in the country and #5 in the Big Ten.

*Despite missing out on the 7 5* Recruits, Coach Miller still has 2 more on his Big Board and both players are D-Lineman

MCCRACKEN FOR HEISMAN

Cameron McCracken is just 57 yds shy of hitting 1000 yards rushing on the season on just 129 carries (7,3 avg) but some will argue he still isn't the best RB on his team as RS SO Viliami Te'o currently sports a (9.3 avg) rushing 49 times for 459 yds, but with 24 rec for 335 yds and 5 TD's, McCracken's almost combined 1300 yds and 11 TD's has him back in the talk as a potential Heisman repeater.

DE LA ROSA

With 8 TD's and 0 INT's in the past 2 games, JR Nick De La Rosa now has 1872 yds with 20 TD and 9 INT on the season as he has firmly took ahold of the QB1 job.

INJURY REPORT

Coach Miller can't catch a break with his D-Line.. RS FR DE George Oruwariye (81 ovr) has hit the IR and is expected to miss the rest of this season and part of next (25 weeks) with a Torn Pectoral.

JACKSONVILLE STATE DOWNS JAGS IN WEEK 9!!

GAME RECAP

When Coach Dees took over Jacksonville State his mission was to build a program that was considered elite among instate recruits knowing he would not only have to figure out a way to beat schools like Auburn and Alabama but also Troy and South Alabama and he took a step in that direction today.

One of the favorites to win the Sun Belt, USA came out and scored early taking a (7-0) lead as the Jaguars picked off QB Vai Fotu twice in the 1st half as the Gamecocks go into the locker room down (14-7).

Jacksonville State would manage to tie the game (14-14) with 2:35 to play in the 3rd Quarte as SR RB Eric Miranda scores his 2nd rushing TD of the game going 31 yds for the score.


Jax State then took the lead early in the 4th as JR QB Quincy Gensus finds Rashaud Hendricks on a 45 yd bomb to make it (21-14) The Gamecocks would add to their lead as Miranda turns in the "Hat trick" with his 3rd score of the day and with 1:56 to play True Freshman Gregory Dobbins tacks on a 6 yd rushing TD to make it (35-14).

South Alabama would manage a score as time expires to make it (35-21) as the Final.

(6-1) OHIO STATE

With the Buckeyes scoring a season high 80 points in the win over Pitt sandwiched between 2 "Bye" Weeks, Ohio State sat back and watched everyone else lose as they climb all the way back to #1 in the Rankings this week ahead of their Week 10 matchup with Nebraska.

(6-1) TCU

The Horn Frogs (34-13) win over Colorado in Week 9 propels them to the #2 spot in the rankings but TCU has a tough road ahead with #16 (6-1) TAMU and #5 (6-1) Texas still on the schedule.

(6-1) FIU

The Panthers rebounded from their loss to Auburn with a pair of wins beating Miss State (35-24) and Florida State (45-17) to climb to #3... FIU will take on #19 (5-3) Georgia Tech in Week 10 and still has matchups with #7 Georgia at home and #25 Miami at Hard Rock Stadium to close out the year.

(8-1) WASHINGTON

With the Huskies (24-14) loss to #6 Penn State in Week 9, there is only 2 undefeated teams left in the country.. SR QB Percy Uzomah (Duke) currently sits at #1 in both with Notre Dame SR WR Thomas Ekiyor #3..


Uzomah so far has thrown for 2019 yds with 20 TD's and just 1 INT, well leading his team in rushing as well with 74 carries for 430 yds and 8 TD's.

Ekiyor currently has 48 rec 815 yds 11 TD as well as 13 rushes for 180 yds and 3 scores.

Alabama SR QB Karlos Friend is #4 in both (2011 yds passing 19 TD 3 INT, 237 yds rushing)

RECRUITING NEWS

Miami despite having never won a National Title in this Dynasty has continued to be the #1 Destination for most of the Top recruits in the nation and the Hurricanes are at it again with 21 commitments (2-5*,19-4*).

Texas A&M made strips to the Semi Finals early int the Dynasty but has struggle to remain a Top-10 team the past 5 years but they have a great class this year currently ranked #2 (20 signings, 2-5*, 18-4*)

Tennessee currently is ranked #3.. The Vols have 16 signings (1-5*, 15-4*) as they look to make the next step in the SEC

Oregon like Miami continues to use their huge NIL budget to attract players from across the country.. The Ducks are currently ranked #4 with 14 signings (1-5* QB R. McClain, and 13-4*)

UCLA rounds out the Top-5.. The Bruins have never made the playoffs in the past 12 years but are finally in the Top-25 at #13 after a move back to the Pac-12/14, and with 13 incoming recruits (10-4*, 3-3*) look to build a roster where they can compete for awhile.

So far 8 of the Top-10 players in the country have committed.. 5* CB Kevlin Devoe (#4 Overall/#1 SC/#1 CB) so far is the best left and he has a interesting Top-3 schools with ECU leading the way at #1, FIU at #2 and Kentucky trailing at #3.

5* OLB Rodney Mauti is the other.. Ranked #6 Overall and the #1 Player from Hawaii,, Mauti currently has USC #1, Notre #2, Nebraska #3, Washington #4 and Kentucky #5. (Not sure why everyone loves Kentucky)


5* QB Ladarius Philbin (#25 Overall/#2 CA/#4 QB) is the best QB unsigned.. Philibin has a interesting Top-3 with San Jose State currently leading the way with BYU and Utah battling for the #2 spot..

4* RB Artie Ebon (#105 Overall/#8 RB) is the best RB unsigned.. He also has a interesting Top-3.. He has ECU #1 but they havn't offered a scholly.. Alabama offering a scholly at #2 and Miami at #3 who also hasn't offered.

5* WR Quincy Onwualu (#13 Overall/#2 GA/#1 WR) is still unsigned, but he has officially locked out Ohio State narrowing his list of schools down to Ole Miss at #1, Southern Miss at #2 and Auburn at #3.

GAME RECAP


Just 2 weeks after scoring a season high 80 points against Pitt, the Ohio State Offense struggled in the first half scoring just 1 touchdown as both RB Frederick Tam and Viliami Te'o both playing time..

Trailing (13-7) at the half and (20-7) after Nebraska scored on the opening drive of the 2nd half, Ohio State rallied to score 3 times to close out the 3rd Quarter as QB Nick De La Rosa throws 3 touchdowns including scores to both McCracken and Te'o out of the backfield. to take the (28-20) going into the 4th.

Nebraska opened up the 4th Quarter scoring as JR QB Jameson Minor (79 ovr) hits JR WR Vai Toilolo on a 24 yd score to make it (28-27). Ohio State looked to try and run off some valuable time off the clock as McCracken goes over 100 yds on the day and 1000 yds on the seaseon but facing a 3rd and 8, De La Rosa is forced to throw and the Cornhuskers pick off the pass giving them a chance to take the lead.

Minor leads the Huskers down field inside the 10 yd line before SS Paul Shoefield makes the play of the game picking off Minor as Ohio State takes over at the 9 yd line.

De La Rosa given new life, takes just 1 play to rally his team behind him as he fires a bomb down the sideline to Orlando Riggs for the 91 yd score as Ohio State takes the lead (35-27) with 4 minutes to play..

Minor already with 2 INT's on the day would do his best to rally as well though as he leads a 9 play 80 yd drive that ends with a 13 yd TD pass to Toilolo to cut the lead to (35-33). With the XPT being no help, Nebraska would leave the offense on the field looking to try and tie the game but Minors pass is deflected by the Defense.. After a failed onside kick attempt, Ohio State would run out the clock.

GAMECOCK'S TAME THE BLAZE!!!!

Jacksonville State moves to (8-1) Overall and (6-1) in Sun Belt play with a Week 10 win over UAB as they take sole place of the East Division with 3 games to play as they look to position themselves in the Sun Belt Championship game.

Leading just (7-3) after starting QB Quincy Genus throws 2 1st half INT's and fails to convert a 4th and 2 with 32 seconds to play in the half, Coach Dees decided to make a change at QB for the 2nd half and the move paid off.

Rather then insert RS FR Vai Fotu who has had his own struggles the past 3 weeks, Coach Dees went with 5'11 RS SR Stephen Penny and Penny delivered a almost perfect 2nd half performance as the throws 4 TD's and runs for another to lead the Gamecock's to a (42-3) victory.

Penny finished the game 12/16 (75%) throwing for 181 yds with the 4 TD's including a 61 yd bomb to RS SO Matt Semple and a 11 yd TD to RS SO TE Skylar Addison who catches his first touchdown of the season. Penny also ran the ball 5 time for 49 yds including 31 yd TD run..

"Penny gave us the spark we needed.. He didn't try and make it about him but just took what the Defense was giving him.. His play today has earned him the right to start next week"

Penny got some help in the 2nd half from the run game that was pretty silent in the 1st half as well. RB1 Eric Miranda ended up with 18 carries for 84 yds (4.7 avg) on the day after a slow start well True Freshman Gregory Dobbins carried the ball 4 times for 20 yds (5.0 avg) and FB Jamal Bush came up huge on several 3rd and short plays to finish with 43 yds on 6 carries (7.2 avg) for a season/career high.

Jax State will hit the road for a pair of games in Georgia starting with (3-5) Georgia State in Week 11 and then (5-3) Kennesaw State in Week 12 before returning home for their Week 13 matchup with Troy.

RECRUITING NEWS

It was another huge week for Coach Dees off the field as well.. Dees landed 7 more commitments for this year's class bring his total to 21 players (3-4*, 18-3*) as Jacksonville State climbs to #9 Overall in the rankings and takes the lead from Troy (#12-27 signings, 18-3*,9-2*) as #1 in the Sun Belt.

BUCKEYES DOMINATE BADGERS IN WEEK 11 WIN

GAME RECAP

After battling Nebraska to the wire last week in their win, Ohio State came out and dominated both sides of the ball in the win over Wisconsin this week to improve to 8-1 on the season and 6-1 in Big Ten play.

Ohio State took a early (14-0) lead in the 1st Quarter and exploded in the 2nd Quarter scoring 4 times including a trio of touchdown pass's from Nick De La Rosa to Orlando Riggs (57 yds, 45 yds and 70 yds) as the Buckeyes go into the locker room up (42-7).

Wisconsin opened up the 2nd half with the ball and settled for a 24 yd FG just to get points on the board (42-10).. De La Rosa would drive the Buckeyes 68 yds on 4 plays before throwing his a INT trying to hit Riggs for TD #4.. The Buckeye Defense however stepped up forcing a another punt..

Despite leading (41-10), Coach Miller didn't want De La Rosa's day to end on a INT and instead left his Junior QB in for the 4th Quarter and De La Rosa delivered throwing 2 more touchdowns (12 yd to D. Lowe and 45 yds to N. Tull) as Ohio State extends their lead to (56-10) still with over 6 minutes to play.

Now 20/29 for 420 yds with 6 TD and 1 INT, De La Rosa's day was offer as Redshirt Freshman Freddy (Frederick) Clemons takes over.. Clemons job was simple hand off the ball to the RB and run out the clock but facing a 4th down from the 4 yd line with 33 seconds to play, Miller called a audible as Clemons dumps off a pass to McCracken for one last score..

WEEK 12 TEAM REPORT

GAMECOCK'S CLIMB TO #19

Jax State's Week's 11 win over Georgia State (31-10) propelled them to #19 in the rankings as they improve to (9-1) Overall and (7-1) in Sunbelt play. A loss by UAB this past week opens the door for the Gamecock's to clinch the East Division with a win in their final 2 games, however any hopes of a spot in this year's playoffs hinges all finishing the season with a Sun Belt Title around their belts.

MIRANDA LOST OF THE SEASON

With Landon Wahl and Spencer Coker still out of action for another 2 weeks, Coach Dees RB room is looking pretty thin as Eric Miranda goes down in Week 11 with a Partial PCL Tear that will end his college career (6 weeks).. Miranda finishes the season with 124 carries for 727 yds (5.9 avg) and a team high 19 TD's.

With Miranda out of action Jax State will have just 2 healthy RB's for the final 2 games.. Junior Ricky Vaughn-38 carries 168 yds 1 TD, 11 rec 115 yds) and True Freshman Gregory Dobbins (32 carries 137 yds 5 TD).

PENNY FOR YOUR THOUGHTS

RS SR QB Stephen Penny has stepped up the past 2 games giving the Gamecock's some stability at QB throwing for 532 yds (34/54 62%) with 7 TD's and 0 INT) after both JR Quincy Genus and RS FR Vai Fotu have struggled with INT's this season (18 combined). Coach Dee's has announced that Penny will finish out the season as the starter with Genus and Fotu both taking snaps as the #2.

STEPPING UP

At the start of the year, Coach Dee's was unsure of his WR room.. He had 2 converted QB's and a converted RB joining his Top-5 depth chart with RS SO Rashaud Hendricks (20 rec) his leading returning receiver..

Hendricks has been great catching 31 balls for 624 yds and leading the team with 9 TD's but the rest of the unit is a huge reason why the Gamecocks are currently (9-1)

RS SO Steve "Hold my Beer" De Beer came into the season with 1 career catch for 5 yds leads the team in both receptions (47) and Yards (734) well hauling in 3 TD's.

Converted QB's Jared Yates has 45 rec for 457 yds with 3 TD well Dalvin Smith has 5 rec for 84 yds and 2 scores.

With the RB room struggling to stay healthy and with only 3 potential returners next season (Vaughn and Coker are both options to transfer) Coach Dees has added 2 more RB recruits to this year's class bringing the total to 4 incoming players.

3* ATH/RB Thomas Brown (#590 Overall/#75 FL/#53 RB) is 6'2 234 lbs from Zephyrhills FL.. Listed as a Powerback, Brown could transition to FB as he is the biggest of the 4 incoming players.

3* Jeff Warrior (#645 Overall/#59 CA/#58 RB) is 5'11 202lbs from San Juan Capistrano CA. Warrior was being heavily recruited by Boise State and is skipping a Week 13 visit scheduled to "The Blue".

With the signings of Brown and Warrior, Jacksonville State now has 23 commitments in this year's class.. (3-4*,20-3*).. The Class Ranks #10 Overall Nationally and #1 in the Sun Belt.

Despite already over his current scholarship allotment for graduating Seniors, we are being told that Coach Dees still has 9 more scholarships offered which means this off-season we could see as many as 15-20 players hitting the portal from Jax State.
