GAME RECAP


Washington hung with the Ohio State early but stills trailed (17-10) the Buckeye Defense forced a a pair of punts to leading to a pair of big play touchdowns by the Ohio State Buckeyes as they close out the 1st half with a commanding 31-10 lead.

Ohio State kicked things off as JR QB Nick De La Rosa finds Orlando Riggs on a pair of big plays scoring on bombs of 45 yds and 75 yds for the first 2 scores.. De La Rosa then got help from his RB's as RS SO Viliami Te'o takes a pass 75 yds to the house to make it 24-10, and after a forced punt with 48 seconds to play in the half De La Rosa hits SR RB Cameron McCracken in the flats and the former Heisman winner does the rest taking it 68 yds to the house as De La Rosa finished the first half with 267 yds passing and 4 TD's.

Big plays continued in the 2nd half as well.. Washington opened up the 2nd half with the ball and quickly scored to cut the lead to (31-17) but that's as close as they would get as Ohio State adds on 2 more scores including a 3rd TD to Riggs from 70 yds out to make it (45-17) going into the 4th.

Ohio State would extend the lead to (52-17) with a 5 yd run by FB Louis DuBois before Washington scores their final touchdown of the day to make it (52-24).. De La Rosa not done throwing though hits Nick Tull on a 49 yd score to make it (59-24) and then after MLB Eric Clemens picks off Washington JR QB Frederick Ballage (80 Ovr), McCracken breaks free on a 38 yd touchdown run to make it (66-24).... A turnover on downs gives Ohio State the ball back and just for good measure, Coach Miller sends out JR PK Lamar Dugans to attempt a 46 yd FG for the final points of the day.

For De La Rosa his day finishes with 556 yds with 7 TD's making this his best game of his career. For McCracken the day finishes with 89 yds on the ground and 68 through the air for a combined 157 yds and 2 scores, well RS SO Orlando Riggs adds on to his huge season with 4 rec for 198 yds and 3 scores.

De La Rosa will go into the playoffs having already thrown for career highs in yards (4048) and TD's (46)..

McCracken ends the regular season with 222 carries for 1690 yds and 11 TD's on the ground and 38 rec for 542 yds and 9 TD's through the air.

Riggs now has 48 rec for 1482 yds and 19 TD's on the season.

I think it's the right fit.. Clemson loves him. This is his 3rd offer, and it's funny FIU offers him a chance to come back as the DC but Florida I feel like is the place for him to go.. Really any Florida school but Miami and FAU would've worked.. I could've created a story where he goes to UCF or USF to build up either of those programs, but Florida being as bad as they have been for pretty much the entire Dynasty makes sense. However they got some young offensive pieces and have the ability to make a pretty drastic turn around.

GAME RECAP

With rumors swirling about his potential departure to Florida, Coach Dees accomplished what he was hoping for as he guides Jacksonville State to the Sun Belt title and with a Top-11 ranking in the country the schools first ever College Football playoffs.

SR RB Landon Wahl made his return rushing the ball 22 times for a 218 yds giving him a 1000 yd season with just 114 carries (8.8).

True Freshman Gregory Dobbins had a solid day carrying the ball 8 times for 75 yds well scoring 3 touchdowns as he finishes the regular season with 10 scores.

RS SO Steve De Beer also joined the 1000 yd club as he now leads the team with 64 rec for 1019 yds and 6 scores.

The Game got exciting at the end as both teams combined for 3 scores in the final 42 seconds, including a 98 yd Kickoff return for a TD by Jax State reserve RB Spencer Coker who was making his return to the field.

The Gamecock's will now wait and see what seed the selection committee gives them after the res tof the Championship Week results.

PLAYOFFS ARE SET

With the ranked teams who were favorites to win the Conference Titles the Playoff picture didn't change much.

For some reason Jax State dropped 2 spots from #12 to #10 despite beating Tulane to win the Sun Belt. The Gamecock's receive the #12 seed in the process and willt ake on #3 (#5 seed) Penn State.

San Jose State's win coupled by ULCA's loss still wasn't enough to secure a jump to #12 as the Spartans finish #13 in the rankings meaning despite a (12-1) record they are headed to the Hawaii Bowl were they will face #24 (9-4) Tulane

Rice snags the #11 seed after finishing (9-3) and #11 in the rankings.. The Owls will take on #4 (#6 seed) Notre Dame.

Washington drops to #6 in the rankings and secures the #8 seed after their loss to Ohio State. The Huskies will host #9 ranked and #9 seed Duke in Round 1.

Ohio finished the season ranked #10 after the MAC Championship win going (12-1).. The Bodcats secure the #10 seed and will take on #5 (10-2) Texas who secures the #7 seed.

(12-1) Ohio State's win over Washington propelled them to #1 in the rankings and and with it they secure the #1 seed and will play the winner of Duke vs Washington.

(12-1) FIU despite winning the SEC falls to #2 and secures the #2 seed. They will take on the winner of #10 Ohio vs #7 Texas.

(11-2) #7 ranked Boise State secures the #3 seed with their Pac-12 Championship.. The Broncos will take on the winner of the Rice/Notre Dame Game.

(11-2) #8 TAMU secures the final Top-4 seed with their Big 12 title.. They will take on either Penn State or Jacksonville State in Round 2.

AWARD WINNERS

With McCracken's performance in the Big Ten Championhip the SR RB has moved past Duke QB Percy Uzomah claiming the Heisman, Maxwell and Walker Awards for 2 straight years.

Ohio State WR Orlando Riggs and QB Nick De La Rosa actually finished #3 and #4 in the Player of the Year voting.

San Jose State Tim McKinney wins the Bear Bryant (HC of the Year) Award... Clayton Dees finished 3rd in the voting as Ohio's Jay Dugger was #2.. Ohio State's Matt Miiller was #4, well FIU's Barry Vadlez was #5.

Duke's Uzomah edged out Nick De La Rosa for the Davey O'Brien (Best QB).

For the 4th time in his career Matt Miller has received a call about taking over and rebuilding USC, as Miller instead will look to return to Ohio State where he is a favorite to lead the Buckeyes to yet another title run.

TIGERS AND HOKIES MAKE RUN AT DEES

The Florida Gators are not the only team looking to fill a high profile opening.. Both the (4-8) Clemson Tigers and the (6-6) Virginia Tech Hokies both are offer Coach Dees HC opportunities and Florida isn't the only school offer Dees a chance to return to his home state as Florida State is offering a OC job after a (4-8) finish this past season as well.

GATORS SIGN CLAYTON DEES TO 3 YEAR DEAL!!

It is official. Former FIU Offensive Coordinator and Jacksonville State Head Coach Clayton Dees has been officially hired to take over the Florida Gators.. Florida coming off a 3-9 season in which they went just 1-9 in SEC play (They beat Clemson) will look to Dees high explosive offense to bring the Gators back to the status they once knew.

Dees a Palmetto Florida native grew up a Gators fan and remembers Florida's National Title wins in 2006 and 2008, but as a 3* Athlete was overlooked by the Florida (they signed 5* DJ Lagway) as welll as FSU, Miami, UCF and USF and Dees instead made his way to FIU where he rose to lead the Panthers to the schools first National Title before joining the staff as a QB coach.

Now after just 1 season leading Jacksonville State to a (12-1) record resulting in a Sun Belt Championship and the schools first ever College Playoff appearance, Dees is returning home ready to rebuild the Gators into a national power.

"I am excited Coach Wilbury has done a solid job of building a roster that has talent, but that talent hasn't translated into alot of wins.. I am looking to change that.. I am sure it will be weird the first time we play FIU and I have to look across the field at Coach Valdez and some of the guy's I helped recruit but at the same time I can't think of a better fit for me and my story as I look to follow in the footsteps of Coach Miller and become "Legendary".

Reports are Coach Dees will not coach the Gamecock's in their first round matchup vs #5 seed Penn State but that Jacksonville State will instead be coached by OC Jelani Davis. Davis finished #2 in the voting for the Broyles Award this past season and is considered to be the front runner to replace Dees in Jacksonville.

1ST ROUND PLAYOFFS RESULTS

#5 Penn State ended #12 Jacksonville State's Dream season on a sour note.

The Gamecock's took a early (7-0) lead in the 1st Quarter and trailed just (10-7) at the half but Penn State scored 3 times in the 3rd to jump out to a (41-7) lead as the Gamecock's offense failed to get anything going.

QB Stephen Penny hit RS FR Jared Yates on a 85 yd bomb in the 4th Quarter to cut the lead to (34-14) but Penn State added on another score to close out the game (41-14).

#9 Duke knocked off #8 Washington spoiling a Big Ten Championship rematch with the Buckeyes.. The Blue Devils led (13-3) at the half but Washington took the lead (17-13) in the 3rd before Duke scored twice in the 4th Quarter for the (27-24) victory.

#6 Notre Dame dominated #11 Rice from start to finish leading (35-10) at the half and finished with a (49-17) win.

#7 Texas holds on to beat #10 Ohio (24-20).. Tied (10-10) at the half it looked like the Bobcats might pull off the upset but Texas scores twice in the 3rd and holds Ohio to just a FG in the 4th to come away with the win.


#5 Penn State will take on #4 Texas A&M in the Fiesta Bowl in Round 2.

#9 Duke will play #1 Ohio State in the Rose Bowl

BUCKEYES DOMINATE 1ST HALF

1ST HALF RECAP


Duke lost Heisman runner up QB Percy Uzomah in their win over Washington in Round 1 and were left to start backup QB JR Taylor Spain (81).. It was a tough day for Spain who completed just 8/16 pass's for 112 yds well throwing 3 INT's. (2 by True Freshman Salesi Kelikipi and 1 by Senior SS Paul Schofield)

For Ohio State's JR QB Nick De La Rosa the first half was almost perfect.. The Junior completed 8/10 pass's for 132 yds well throwing 4 TD's with his only mistake of the day a INT intended for Orlando Riggs as the duo looked to hook up for 1 more score before the half.

"I take full credit for the INT.. We honestly should've just run out the clock but Nick and Orlando had already hooked up for 1 big score (48 yds) and it looked like Orlando had the Defense beat again but the Duke Defender made a great play"

The Ohio State Secondary and QB were not the only parts of the Buckeyes team off to a great start.

The Trio of McCracken/Te'o and Tam (sounds like a law firm) combined for the Buckeyes first score of the game on just 3 plays and finished the first half just 1 yard shy of hitting 200 yds (199).. McCracken had 7 carries for 89 yds, Te'o had 3 carries for 57 yds plus 10 yd TD reception and Tam had 2 carries for 59 yds including a 15 yd TD run and a 44 yd run

BUCKEYES ADVANCE FOR SEMI FINALS FOR 5TH STRAIGHT YEAR

2ND HALF RECAP

The Ohio State Buckeyes are 1 step closer to a repeat run at their 2nd National Championship in as many years as they defeat the Duke Blue Devils in the Rose Bowl (49-7)

Leading 35-0 at the half, Ohio State's 2nd half wasn't even as close as productive as both Starting QB Nick De La Rosa and backup QB Abdul Diabate throwing INT's, but a 45 yd run by Redshirt Sophomore Viliami Te'o and a 59 yd TD bomb from De La Rosa to Orlando Riggs still provided enough highlights to keep Buckeye fan's happy.

Duke did manage to put together a late scoring drive in the 4th going to the ground game including a 2 yd TD run by QB Taylor Spain. Who after throwing 3 INT's in the first half played a much better 2nd half completing 10/16.

Ohio State after putting up 199 yds on the ground in the 1st half finished the day with 373 yds as the Law firm of McCracken/Te'o and Tam all finished with over 100 yds each.

2ND ROUND RESULTS

#4 Seed Texas A&M kicks a 4th Quarter FG to defeat #5 Seed Penn State (24-21) to advance and spoil the Big Ten Showdown/rematch of the Lions vs the Buckeyes as the Aggies will look to dethrone the Buckeyes in the Cotton Bowl.

#3 Boise State scored 10 points in the 4th Quarter to comeback to defeat #6 Notre Dame (31-28) as the Broncos advance to the Semi Finals for just the 1st time in school history (in this Dynasty)

#7 Texas pulls off the upset defeating #2 FIU (45-31) marking this the first time in 7 years that FIU has not advanced to the to the Semi Finals.

FIU and Texas were tied (7-7) after the 1st Quarter, but never led the entire game as Texas leads (28-21) at the half and (38-28) at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

The Panthers played the game without their starting RB Keary Byler as RS SO Cole Hitchcock finished the game with just 11 carries for 26 yds in the loss.

DEES BUILDS HIS STAFF

Just 1 week after being named the Florida Gators new Head Coach, Clayton Dees has announced his first 2 hirings to his staff..

Dees has named Austin Moffitt as his new OC.. Moffitt has spent the past 3 seasons as the HC of the Air Force Falcons but was released form his contract after a 3-9 finish this season.. Moffitt grew up in Central Florida and has great connections to the local high school recruits.

"I am excited to get to work with Coach Moffitt. Has has a great offensive mind who is open to trying all kinds of formations and making it hard for opposing Defenses to pin point what you are going to do (Multiple Offenses) He also knows Florida well and has alot of connections with local coaches. Coach Miller's goal at FIU was to build the program from within and really put a priority on keeping Florida kids at home. I want to do the same thing and Coach Moffitt will be able to help with that"

Dees also named Tyler Choice his DC this week.. Choice known for his 3-3-5 Defensive strategy spent last season on staff at Nebraska but was not retained when the school decided to go in a different direction after a 6-7 finish. Well Nebraska didn't win a ton of games last year the Cornhuskers Defense still ranked in the upper half of the Big Ten and actually only gave up 4 more points then Ohio State did, however their 22 sacks ranked worst in the Big Ten and was one of the worst among Power 4 schools.

"I know that Coach Choice didn't have the type of season he was hoping to have last year with the Cornhuskers, but they had alot of injuries up front and despite the pass rush they did manage to produce 22 take aways (6 Fumbles/16 INTs). Coach Choice also recruits the South well.. I had several recruits from Alabama (his pipeline) speak very highly of him this season on the recruiting trail."

Dees will continue to build his staff in the coming weeks. We are told both several former FIU Panther teammates as well as several Florida Alumni are scheduled for interviews.

The turnaround at Ohio State with Matt Miller has been quick... From 2029-2031, Ohio State went 18-20 with their highlight being being a 7-6 finish with a LA Bowl the year before Miller arrived.. Since Miller came to Columbus, Ohio State has won 5 straight Big Ten Championships and will be playing for their 3rd National Title in 5 seasons with their worst season coming in 2034 when they lost in Round 2 of the playoffs after a perfect 12-0 regular season and 13-0 finish after the Big Ten title. Miller currently 70-6 Overall with the Buckeyes and 161-23 Lifetime is currently the winningest active coach in the nation.. (FIU's Barry Valdez is #2 with 143-46, Notre Dame's J. Anderson is #3 with 139.43, and K-State's T. Downing is #4 with 138-44)

TAMU despite going a perfect 3-3 on 4th downs in the 4th Quarter would fail to find the endzone settling for a FG for their only points, well Ohio State tacks on one final score as De La Rosa hits JR D'Angelo Lowe on a 75 yd bomb to close out the scoring..

GAME RECAP


Ohio State opens up the game with a with a 8 play drive that was all runs by the Trio of McCracken/Te'o and Tam including Tam's first rushing TD of the game.

A forced Punt would give Ohio State the ball back but QB Nick De La Rosa throws the first of 2 INT's as RS FR Soma Grimm takes it back 61 yds to the house for the "Pick 6" to tie the game (7-7)..

De La Rosa however fires a 65 yd bomb to Orlando Riggs to put Ohio State back on top (14-7) before throwing INT #2. Boise State however is forced to settle for a FG making it (14-10) before Ohio State closes out the 1st half with a FG of their own making it (17-10).

The Ohio State Defense would hold the Broncos to a FG to open up the 2nd half making it (17-13) before Tam would score his 2nd rushing TD of the day to extend the lead to (24-13). Boise State would make it a 1 score game early in the 4th as Nagy finds RS FR Ramon Massey on a 75 yd bomb to make it (24-20). The Broncos Defense then held Ohio State to a 36 yd FG by Lamar Dugans making it (27-20) with just under 5 minutes to play in the game. But facing a 4th and 8, Boise State elects to Punt with 4:12 to play giving Ohio State a chance to put the game away as Ohio State goes back to the ground game as Tam delivers his 3rd rushing TD of the game to earn the "Hat Trick" extending the lead to (33-20). With a 13 point lead Coach Matt Miller left the Offense on the field with just 33 seconds to play in the game knowing a failed or converted 2PT wouldn't really matter.. Boise State gets the stop.

It looked like the game was over but with 3 seconds on the clock, Nagy avoids the rush and fire a bullet down field and hits JR Manny D'Imperio who takes it 65 yds to the house as time expires.. Trailing (33-26) with no time on the clock Boise State goes for the 2pt play and converts, making it a 5 point game.



**Have to wonder what the Vegas spread was and how much people won or loss because of the failed and converted 2pt plays at the end.

Junior CB Zhaire Lemon (91 Overall) declares a year early for the NFL Draft. Lemon the Gators #1 CB the past 2 seasons is projected to be a 1st Round Pick/ Lemon was 2nd on the team with 62 Tackles this past season and recorded 1 INT after recording 5 INT in 2035

Well Coach Wilbury didn't have alot of success on the field this past season, he did actually do a pretty solid job with recruiting landing 18 commitments before he was fired (12-4*, 6-3*).. The Class is currently ranked #12 Overall and is #5 in the SEC (Miami is #2, Tennessee is #4, FIU is #9 and Alabama is #11, and Ole Miss is #13)

With 14 Seniors set to graduate plus the Portal Players and Lemon (Draft) Coach Dees will look at add at least 4-8 more players in the late recruiting process with hopes of securing a Top-10 class.

SR Nick Tull had quite the career at Ohio State. The former 4* was a 4 year starter posting 3 seasons with over 1000 yds and ends his career with a school records in Receptions (235) Yards (4039) and TD's (37).

MCCRACKEN AND TAM DUO MAKE HISTORY

Cameron McCracken (723 carries 5421 yds 38 TD's, 71 rec 876 yds 10 TD) and Frederick Tam (480 carries 2623 yds 84 TD's) will go down as the greatest RB duo in Ohio State history.

McCracken was a 2 time Heisman/Maxwell/Doak Walker Award winner, well Tam leaves OSU as the Teams leader in career Rushing TD's as well as the Big Ten leader in TD's in a career.
