Going for the 3-peat will have college historians putting Coach Savage in the discussion as one of the greats of all time.. Question is does him winning Natty's with 2 different clubs make him better the Coach Red.

IF we get #3 at Syracuse that will give Coach Savage 4 in 7 seasons, while Red had 7 in 10 seasons. I think Coach Red still has the edge and he secured a four peat prior to retiring, but Savage will end up with the longevity since Red only coached for 10 seasons. And I feel a Natty at Ball State easily out weights any title USC won just because of the low point Ball State started at historically.

LEFT - Browner let the Longhorns defense know on the opening drive he meant business and would finish with a National Championship record 247 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns.
CENTER LEFT - Jimenez and Bob Gee were in sync early, burning the Orange defense for consecutive 80+ touchdowns, but Syracuse adjusted quickly and held Jimenez without a touchdown pass for the remainder of the game.
CENTER RIGHT - Despite generating four total turnovers, the Texas offense couldn't capitalize as they never scored a point off of turnovers, while the Orange scored 21 points off the three Texas turnovers (2 INT, fumble)
RIGHT - Dalton Wear appeared to give Syracuse the lead with a minute remaining in the 1st half, but was stripped just inches shy of the goal line.

Indianapolis, IN. - The No. 2 Syracuse Orange (14-1) cemented their place in college football history, capturing their third consecutive national championship with a dominant 56-27 victory over No. 7 Texas (14-2) in the 2031 National Championship Game.

Despite early struggles and turnovers, head coach Nash Savage’s squad erupted in the second half, outscoring Texas 35-10 after halftime to put the game away in emphatic fashion.

The game started with a methodical Syracuse approach, as the Orange opened with an 11-play scoring drive capped by a 1-yard touchdown from sophomore running back Lee Browner. Texas, however, responded in electrifying fashion, with quarterback Nick Jimenez finding Bob Gee for an 85-yard touchdown, exposing Syracuse’s secondary early.

Browner punched in another short touchdown run in the second quarter, but Texas struck again with another deep bomb—this time an 81-yard connection between Jimenez and Gee. Syracuse’s offense sputtered as quarterback Immanuel Hendrix threw interceptions on consecutive drives, but the defense held strong, forcing punts on both occasions.

A critical moment unfolded late in the second quarter. With just over a minute left before halftime, wide receiver Dalton Wear appeared to have scored on a breakaway touchdown, only to fumble at the goal line, resulting in a Texas recovery in the end zone. However, All-American safety Tyree Kight quickly shifted momentum back to Syracuse, intercepting Jimenez and returning the ball to the Texas 1-yard line. Browner capitalized on the opportunity, scoring his third touchdown of the half to give the Orange a 21-14 lead.

Texas managed to cut the deficit to 21-17 at the break with a 34-yard field goal from Emilio Dove.

After a turnover-laden first half, Hendrix and the Syracuse offense found their rhythm. On the first drive of the third quarter, Hendrix connected with Wear for a 73-yard touchdown, and the floodgates opened.

Texas’ hopes of a comeback were dashed when Jimenez threw his second interception of the night. Hendrix then delivered another deep strike, this time a 50-yard touchdown to Jeffrey Franz. Texas would finally rally, but after Dove's 2nd field goal, Wear quickly answered hauling in his second touchdown of the quarter, giving Syracuse a commanding 42-20 lead.

Moments later, disaster struck again for the Longhorns as they fumbled the ensuing kickoff, and Browner found the end zone once more just 52 seconds after the previous score. The Orange had turned a once-competitive game into a 49-20 blowout in the blink of an eye.

Browner added a final touchdown in the fourth quarter, his record-breaking fifth of the game, securing Syracuse’s place in history.

Lee Browner delivered a historic performance, setting new National Championship records for rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. The sophomore finished with 247 rushing yards and five touchdowns, surpassing Ezekiel Elliott’s marks set in the first College Football Playoff era.

Quarterback Immanuel Hendrix overcame early struggles, finishing 15-of-24 for 321 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions. Dalton Wear was a major playmaker, recording four receptions for 148 yards and two touchdowns.

On the defensive side, Syracuse’s all-time sack leader Jason Veasy was held without a sack, finishing his career with 99.5 sacks. When asked about falling short of the milestone, Veasy kept it simple:

“Don’t care. We won. End of story.”

Hendrix echoed the same sentiment when asked about his interceptions:

“We know we have the best defense in the country, and that allows us to be aggressive and take risks. No one likes throwing picks, but despite four turnovers, the Longhorns didn’t score off them. And that’s all the defense, baby. I don’t care if I throw 10 interceptions—if we’re winning, I’m grinning.”

For Texas, Jimenez put up big numbers, throwing for 434 yards and two touchdowns on 27-of-38 passing, but his two interceptions proved costly. The senior, who will likely be heading to the NFL, was left wondering what could have been.

Syracuse’s dominant victory makes them just the second program in college football history to win three consecutive national titles, joining the 1930s-era Minnesota Golden Gophers. Head coach Nash Savage now has four championships in just seven seasons, solidifying his place among the all-time greats.

With another title in the books, the Orange dynasty continues to build.

2031 Ball State Cardinals Season Review

The 2031 season was another bittersweet campaign for the Ball State Cardinals—marked by dominant regular-season success and a Big 12 Championship, but once again ending in frustration with a fourth consecutive College Football Playoff loss. Transfer quarterback Anthony Elam struggled under the bright lights, throwing six interceptions in a blowout loss to Texas, eerily mirroring the 2029 playoff defeat.

Head coach Mark Stoops, now entering his third season—the longest tenure for a Ball State head coach since Nash Savage—acknowledged that major offensive adjustments are needed to get over the postseason hump.

“This isn’t just about one guy,” Stoops said. “We’ve had multiple quarterbacks struggle with turnovers in big moments. At some point, you have to ask: is it the system?”

Change is already in motion, as offensive coordinator Gerad Parker departs to become Minnesota’s head coach. In his place, Ball State is bringing in former Michigan State head coach Jonathan Smith—a former quarterback himself—to revamp the offense. The goal? Maintain the explosive playstyle the Cardinals became known for under Savage while cutting down on the costly mistakes that have plagued them since his departure.

With Elam set to graduate, the quarterback battle will be one to watch. Former four-star recruit Taylor Beckner, who lost the job to Elam this past season, is the early favorite to start, but Ball State is also bringing in five-star prospect Emeka Kikaha—giving the program plenty of intrigue at the position.

Despite their struggles on the biggest stage, Ball State remains a force in the Big 12, boasting a 14-2 record in conference play since joining. However, if they hope to finally secure a College Football Playoff win and return to national championship contention, significant changes will be needed—both in scheme and execution.

Do you evet keep track of who your intended target was when you throw your INT's. Seems like Elam had 1 favorite target and a #2 who struggled with drops.

I actually ha a scissor route in playbook that when completed to my WR would go for a TD, but I also found myself throwing like 3 INT's to every 7 or 8 attempts with that play. For some reason so I finally just removed it from my playbook. I don't know if you keep any stats like that.

I like Kadem making the jump to OC. Have to wonder at some point if Coach Savage decided to move on, now the question becomes does Ball State disappear from the tread and get replaced with Kaden staying at Syracuse and becoming the #2 team getting reported on

RVM was definitely the first read on each passing attempt, but a majority of Elam's picks were either on verts that I lobbed instead of throwing a bullet, or outs that he just didn't have the arm strength to place in front of the trailing defender. It is harder for me to keep track of who the INTs go to with Ball State since I'm just playing the offense and I personally get caught up in passing too much since I'm not playing the defense and getting the flow of the game. Especially when we're cooking I sometimes throw us out of rhythm by taking unnecessary shots, but as I mentioned before there aren't a ton of running plays I had faith in so that played into it as well. I was more confident getting yardage through the air, although Barmore did have a solid season. I'm looking at either UNLV or Georgia's playbook for next season, so we'll see how that works out. And I knew McElmurry dropped a lot of passes, but the actual number still surprised me. But he is a former ATH HB recruit that moved to TE, so I don't think he'll ever be the possession catch guy some tight ends are, but he has 91 speed and is a matchup nightmare if he's against a LB/S.

Its funny you should mention that cause I have been considering that recently, but the original plan was for Kadin to eventually take over Ball State and I'm still 95% sure that's where it'll end up going. But if Coach Savage gets an offer for the SEC I like and I'm not completely ready to leave Cuse, then Kadin could chose to stay in New York rather than his alma. We'll see.

On the Coach Savage - SEC front, didn't receive any offers thsi cycle despite A&M being open again. All honesty A&M was where I most preferred, but they want a "Program Builder" archtype which I can't do anymore taking the CEO skill set, so I may never get their offer. Texas, Ole Miss and Florida are my next choices, with possibly Georgia if it happens to open up. But we'll see what happens

'Cuse Finishes #1 On & Off The Field For Consecutive Seasons

Syracuse, NY. - Winning breeds success, and no one understands that better than Syracuse’s four-time national championship-winning head coach.

“When you win, guys want to play for you and be a part of that culture,” he said after the Orange secured their second consecutive No. 1 overall recruiting class. “Just look at the success Alabama had with Nick Saban or what Dabo did at Clemson. You build a culture around winning, and people across the country want to be part of it.”

Syracuse entered the offseason ranked No. 4 overall with 20 total commitments (four 5-stars, 13 4-stars, and three 3-stars), headlined by the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect, free safety Alex Greisen. However, the Orange vaulted to the top spot thanks to a strong transfer portal haul featuring three 4-star players, including a major coup in running back Nolan McKay, who flipped from rival Penn State.

With defensive standouts Demetrious Vilma and Jason Veasy departing—Vilma opting to forgo his final two years of eligibility—opportunities abound for incoming 5-star linebackers Craig Pettis (No. 21 overall) and Isaac Dickens (No. 23 overall) to make an immediate impact as rotational pass rushers.

Despite Greisen’s status as the top recruit, he isn’t the most talked-about newcomer on campus. That honor belongs to 5-star quarterback Brenton Deablo, a highly touted prospect from just two hours away from Syracuse. With fans already eyeing him as the heir apparent to star quarterback Immanuel Hendrix, anticipation is at a fever pitch.

However, head coach Nash Savage was quick to temper expectations.

“I know everyone is excited about having a local kid potentially take over, but let’s not forget Hendrix is only a junior,” Savage cautioned. “Last year, people thought Jason [Veasy] would leave, and he shocked everyone by returning for his senior season. Anything can happen over the next year.”

With another elite class in the books and a roster stacked with talent, Syracuse’s dominance shows no signs of slowing down.

I was semi tempted to take Texas but couldn't do it with the class I had coming in.. Honestly at this point I don't know if Miller will leave Ohio State..
The Buckeyes really do check all the boxes of a school to just win multiple Natty's with and build a Legendary career with.. I am thinking at this point I would probably take over as the DC at FIU in theory, but what I would really do is just recruit to keep the roster competitive and find a rebuild project for Clayton Dees.. I keep looking at New Mexico.. Every year they seem to just load up on 1* Recruits..

I am actually thinking about doing a conference overall in my 2035 season and was actually looking at maybe putting FIU and Miami in the SEC to play against Florida and Florida State so maybe that would get me my fix of wanting to play in the SEC against Georgia, LSU, Clemson, Alabama, Auburn ect..

So maybe what I do is have Coach Dees leave build his resume at a small school and then one day see if I could make my way back to FIU as the HC if Valdez retires..

As far as your playbook.. I actually use Clemson as my base playbook but I add in some I-formation runs. My playbook is basically like 5 or 6 formations out of Shotgun with about 100 plays and then I run the I-Formation with 4 different looks as well as the Flexbone with 2 different looks. Flexbone is basically my goaline.. All together it gives me like 160 plays but I can honestly say in a game I use like probably 20-25 plays in most games..

Congrats on another natty - what a second half to complete the three-peat! Savage is cleaning up on the recruiting trail too, and this train should just keep on rolling especially with his former QB now in at OC.

Shame to see Kliff get the axe at Michigan - should have probably stayed at Ball State another year or two!

Great recruiting class on Defense- a lot of talent in the NY/NJ area this cycle. Braeden Deablo is a sick name too for the future QB of the program

The base for the "Nitro" playbook is Tennessee's, but there are bits and pieces from Oregon, USC, Georgia, UNLV, and Clemson. I've got about 85 favorited plays and then depending on the situation I'll sort it by concept.

I keep thinking about keeping Kadin at Syracuse and I'm torn on it. It also depends on when, or if, Coach Savage leaves and when Stoops moves on from Ball State. They're up to a 4 1/2 star prestige now, so there are only a handful of jobs that would be considered upgrades for him. I've got an idea and time frame in mind for each, but i'm not going to force anything, so it's definitely up in the air depending on how things work out in game.

Thanks CW! We were a super young team when we won the first so we've got a majority of our starters returning. Barring any debilitating injuries we're the hands down favorite to make it 4 in a row. Putting all of my coaching points into developmental traits is really helping too, all of these high end recruits are developing quickly so even when I do have a guy like JC Hoag or Jason Veasy leave its a mostly seamless transition.

To make it worse for Kliff he didn't even bounce back with a program that could stabilize his career, I don't forse him having much success with Utah State. Definitely should have stayed in Muncie!

Thanks man! I've been pretty surprised by the amount of high end talent in the area to be honesty. I thought for sure I'd be fighting with Notre Dame/Ohio State for Ohio and Indiana recruits, but PA/NY/NJ is a hot bed and we're definitely getting our pick of the bunch. My DC has tidewater recruiting pipelines, so Mississippi and Alabama are also getting a boost, along with Flroida.

Going from Immanuel, nicknamed "Himmanuel", Hendrix to Brenton Deablo is like hitting the lottery in terms of QB names lol
