                Kariya, Hahl out against Boston

It was announced earlier today that Colorado Avalanche star winger Paul Kariya will miss the next 2 weeks with a sore neck. It seemed he recieved a sore neck after a collision will Bruins big defensemen Hal Gill early in the 1st period.

"Paul just came off the ice while feeling his neck and didn't really talk with anyone, pretty much hung his head on the bench before heading back to the dressing room" said teamate Rob Blake.

"Losing Paul was just taking a big shot at our confidence, with our team not doing too well to begin with, losing a quality player such as him will be hard to overcome" said General Manager Jason Skyland.

Defensemen Riku Hahl was also injured for 6 weeks after a whole bunch of collisions in the 2nd period down in Colorado's zone. He has suffered a sore knee.

Paul Kariya will return on October 30th, 2004 while Riku Hahl will come back on November 25th, 2004.

Maybe a better goalie or better defensive depth could help? I dunno though, it's only been 2 games.

                        Colorado Makes A Trade

A reluctant Aaron Downey has been traded to the very team he wasn't so swell about: The Colorado Avalanche. Colorado General Manager accepted the offer from the Dallas Stars that sends Peter Worell along with minor leaguer Jim Cummins to the Stars in return for Downey and the injured Shayne Corson.

"We needed all the help we can get now that Paul and Riku are out" said Skyland upon announcing the deal.

"I can't really say I hate having to move to a team like Colorado, but things might turn out a little interesting for the Avalanche and I" said winger Aaron Downey.
