I don't know about that. Because he is a Rangers fan, "Playing for Thy Enemy" sounds like playing for the Islanders, or the Devils(which would suit him very well) But don't believe me, it's just my guess.

Unless, are you actually playing for the Senators?

Edit: Just re-read the story. I missed the part about him being a Leafs fan. Nevermind.

I guess the draft update wasn't very clear. He wasn't drafted in the 1st round.

In fact, he wasn't drafted at all!!!

Let me ask you something...if a player did that at the draft, do you think a single team would draft him?

Also, the scene with Murray, Idk if i said this in the update, occurs two days later, meaning the draft is already over. So, now that you know, he didn't get drafted.

And canucksfan, LOL at the devils part. I was going to make him play for the devs initially, but ive recently come to the realization that i HATE BAP because you start out in the boring *** AHL. So i made Alexei a 80 ovr CAP and am doing NHL Pro, instead.

Re: Playing for Thy Enemy -- Another NHL 09 Goalie BAP

Kanata, Ontario. Home of the Ottawa Senators, a Home Depot, and literally nothing else.

Perfect, Alexei thought. Now I can do my gardening shopping AND play professional hockey!

Alexei drove past the orange store, into the building, and walked through the doors, leading himself to the home team locker room.

He entered the room, and was immediately blown away.

The quaility of the room was astounding. Gone were the old, fading bricks of his local ice rinks. Gone was the stench, the crappy, rubber floors, the measly whiteboard.

In their places were flat screen televisions, jacuzzis, video games galore, fantastic looking food, and a fresh smell that had nothing to do with hockey sweat.

Alexei breathed in heavily, wafting in the possibilities of a non-smelly locker room.

He inhaled and inhaled, simply standing in the door away.

He opened his eyes, and realized that everyone was staring at him. They were giving him this odd look, one that a person would give someone if they had begun to sniff their own body odor.

"What the **** are you doing?" Jason Spezza said after a moment of silence.

"Uh..." Alexei was speechless, and clueless. He didn't know what he was doing!

"Hey guys, looks like we've got a nature lover on our hands," chuckled Dany Heatley.

Alexei's face turned a bright red, and the entire team began to mime sniffing in "fresh air", much to Alexei's dismay.

"Oh yeah?" He yelled, finally having had enough. "You can go shove it!"

"Shove it where?" Heatley teased. "Into a tree?"

The entire team laughed, and Alexei's bright red face darkened into a putrid, mahogany color.

"YOU!" He said, finally pointing desperately at Heatley.

Heatley's grin transformed into a laugh, and the entire team joined in.

"I'll **** you up once we get out there!" Alexei said.

A moment of silence ensued--then, more laughter.

"Good luck staying on the team!" Spezza hollered finally.

Ashamed, angered, and ready to punch something, Alexei made his way to the back of the locker room, where he found his seat, next to Jesse Winchester and Nick Foligno.

When Jesse saw Alexei sit down, he looked pointedly in the other direction, and shifted his rump away from him.

Alexei was about to start, but a hand flew to his shoulder, and Alexei swallowed his pride--and his temper.

"Don't worry about them," Nick Foligno said. "It's only because you're a rookie."

              Alexei said nothing...he only fumed.

"Don't start something you'll live to regret," Nick said.

Alexei's clench fists slowly began to unravel themselves, and finally, he had relaxed.

He turned to face Nick, and said, "Why are you helping me?"

"Ah, you know," he said, cracking his jaw. "Figured us young guys ought to stick together, right?"

Alexei said, "What about him?" motioning to Winchester.

"Don't worry about him," Nick said. "Just worry about Alexei, and more importantly, worry about making the NHL squad. I mean, don't tell anyone I said this, especially Auldy and Pasci, but we need a new goalie...badly."

"So is that the reason you're not being an ******* to me?" Alexei said. "Because you want me in net?"

Nick shrugged while tightening his skates in one fluid motion. "Like I said...we've got to stick together."

Alexei grinned slightly, and said, "Damn right you need a new goalie...wait till you see me! I'll make 'Auldy' look like worthless ****!"

Nick turned to Alexei, and said, "Alex, listen. I know you've always been the big thing wherever you played, but I'll only say this once. Everyone on here is your friend. At least...in public. What goes on here, in this locker room, doesn't matter. You can brawl, you can be rude, I don't really care. But trust me, the media will be all over your *** if you have a tantrum or do anything negative to any teammate of yours--even if it is your competing goalie."

Alexei nodded in affirmation. He got it, know. It was all about maintaining a public image. He didn't have to actually like any of these losers. All he had to do was pretend he liked them, and everything would be fine.

I wonder how many Leafs don't like each other? He thought to himself, feeling like a traitor just for thinking about his Leafs.

They're not "my" Leafs anymore. Oh well, I guess I'll have to adjust.

One of the assistant coaches who ran the practices came into the locker room after Alexei had finished getting dressed, and beckoned the team out onto the ice.

The team followed suite, and soon, Alexei was getting his first experience of skating with an NHL team.

"Pucks in the corners!" shouted Ottawa's head coach, Cory Clouston, after some lengthy warmup laps.

Alexei skated to his usual post--the net, and gently cracked his neck, back, and arms, before hitting the posts 6 times on each side, for "good luck". He hit his pads each two times, and then squatted down harshly to stretch his quad muscles.

Getting upright now, he did one last back crack, before getting into his "ready position", and facing the oncoming shooter, Alfie.

BOOM! The puck was fired, but Alexei was too quick for it, and he gloved it down, adding a tiny flourish at the end, much to the dismay of Alfie.

Moments later, Nick Foligno came down, and deked forehand, and at the last second, switched back to his backhand, flipping the puck up over a sprawled-out Alexei.

"Dammit!" He cursed under his breath, biting down hard on his mouth guard to prevent more from coming out.

He had a tiny break, and then, Jason Spezza came down on him, winding up to take a slapshot. Alexei braced himself, but then realized that Spezza had brought his stick back down to ice level, and now advanced in a spin-o-rama type move that left Alexei spread-eagle and dazed.

I won't even be in the AHL with the way I've played so far! He said.

He came out of his crease more than he usually did, hoping it would give him confidence.

Dany Heatley came down on him, and blazed down the left wing, and took a shot. Alexei was too far out, and too slow, and the shot trailed straight into the wide open net.

              ****! he thought.

He moved to the very back of his net, hoping to regain some lost confidence.

Jesse Winchester came down on him, and, seeing no room to dangle, took his best shot, and it soared from his stick blade, under Alexei's left arm, and into the back of the net.

You've got to be joking... he thought.

He slammed his stick on the ground, and felt the bottom shatter.

He made his way slowly off the ice, onto the bench, where he went to grab a backup stick and a swig of water.

Senators goalie coach Eli Wilson made his way towards Alexei, and Alexei slammed his lid back over his head, chucking the water bottle in the coach's direction, and skated back onto the ice.

              "Alexei, wait!" the coach yelled.

Alexei ignored him, and was about to make it back to the crease, when the older man said, "Goddamit Alexei, if you don't come back now, I'll get your *** out of Ottawa so fast, you'll be wishing you never ignored me like this."

Alexei swallowed his pride once again, and skated back towards the goalie coach.

"Listen," said Eli. "You've been changing your game too much on those last couple of shots. Tell me something...what drill is this?"

"Warmups," Alexei grumbled. "And I can't even--"

"Exactly!" the coach said, cutting Alexei off. "It's just warmups. Say it with me. What drill is this?"

              "Just warmups..."

              "Again!"

"It's just warmups. Where the hell are you going with this?"

Eli pinched the bridge of his nose between his forefinger and thumb. "Goddamit, Alexei. Think harder! Why do warmups matter so much?"

Alexei thought hard, seeking to impress his new coach. After a while, he said, "because they are important in warming the goalies up so they play better?"

"No!" The coach said, not unkindly. "The truth is that...warmups don't matter, not at all! So stop playing like your life depends on it out there, start trying to have some fun, and keep sticking to your original game! You looked great on that Alfie save--stick with what you did there!"

Alexei mulled the thought over, and eventually said, "Thanks, Coach Wilson. I think I get it, now."

The coach simply smiled and patted his young goaltender on the back, and Alexei hustled back towards the crease in which 3rd string Alex Auld was now taking a few shots.

"MOVE!" Alexei barked to the man. "Move, fatass! You're only the 3rd string...I go first."

Alex Auld grumbled rudely, but still obliged.

The shot came down on Alexei, this time off the stick of Dany Heatley.

The Heater threw everything he had on the shot--literally, losing his balance, flipping the puck up, and falling onto his back, sliding quickly towards the goal crease, and whacking the puck with the blade of his stick in mid air.

Alexei, distracted by the body coming towards him, jumped high in the air, and, feeling like an acrobat, extended his glove hand out, and caught the puck. He collided back down with the ice with an "Oomph", but when he saw that the puck had managed to stay hidden within his glove, he smiled, and got up to face the next shot.

Out of the corner of his eye, Alexei saw an overjoyed Eli Wilson, clapping enthusiastically on the bench.

Alexei snorted, and thanked the coach secretly in his mind.

LOL that was yet ANOTHER typo..

I really need to stop making updates when I'm not feeling well, or tired.

Thanks for all the help, guys, much appreciated.

BTW, Alex, I am actually using Stewie Griffin as my main inspiration as this character. But he's not really as silly, or stupid, or cartoony, or whatever it is that makes Stewie tick. He doesn't talk in a british accent or anything...he's just unbelievably genius and wretched.

And my second inspiration was Ray Emery, for his "playing style".

Oh yes, that's right, did I forget to mention that there WILL be goalie fights in this BAP?

I've always said that goalie fights in hockey are the equivalent of watching two girls catfight in chocolate pudding...it's raunchy, exciting, and quite entertaining.
