Dicatoring the Russian Superleague (EHM 2007)

The Metallurg Magnitogorsk hockey club has announced the arrival of a new General Manager, Ryan Williams. Ryan Williams is also the GM of the Russian National team and the Russian U-20 team. He was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. But moved to Moscow at a young age.

He will be joining star players Jaroslav Dusek, Travis Scott and Evgeny Varlamov. Hopefully he will raise NHL prospects Denis Istomin (Minnesota Wild), Anton Khudobin (Minnesota Wild), Dmitri Pestunov (Phoenix Coyotes) and Nikolai Kulemin (Toronto Maple Leafs). As well as our most promising prospects, goaltender Ilya Proskuryakov, left wing Igor Velichkin and center Anton Glovatsky.

Metallurg Magnitogorsk is most famous for its recent success in the Russian Superleague and for developing future NHL star Evgeni Malkin.

Russia Wins the Czech Cup of the European Hockey Tour

Russia defeated the Czech Republic last night to win that leg of the European Hockey Tour. GM Ryan Williams says the team plans to build off of this small victory.

Russia U-20 Wins Czech U-20 Tournament

The Russian U-20 team won the Czech U-20 Tournament with their win last win over the Czech U-20 team. Simeon Varlamov led the won with his stellar performance in net. GM Ryan Williams is proud of the team, but not very surprised, "I knew they were the best team in the Tournament, I'm not shocked at all".

Magnitogorsk Players try out with NHL Clubs

Denis Istomin (Chicago Blackhawks), Anton Khudobin (Minnesota Wild), Dmitri Pestunov (Phoenix Coyotes), and Nikolai Kulemin (Toronto Maple Leafs) have all joined NHL clubs to try out for the team. Magnitogorsk has called up Maksim Mamin from Metallurg Jrs, Andrei Chistyakov from Magnitogorsk-2, and Ilya Proskuryakov from Magnitogorsk-2.

Defensemen Vladislav Bulin will be out for two weeks with a next strain he received from practice, Anton Poleschuk will be called up from Magnitogorsk-2 to replace him.
