From Scouting to Managing: An EHM 2007 Dynasty

    Brampton Battalion Hires New GM

    Brampton, Ontario-

Despite having a very successful season last year, Head Coach and General Manager Stan Butler unexpectedly retired due to working a very stressful job. "Being a GM and head coach of hockey team is very stressful. All the important decisions you need to make: lines, trades ;ect. it all eventually was to much for me. Good luck to the new GM."

The Brampton Battalion have now announced that they have hired former Toronto Maple Leafs scout Ryan Williams to take control of the team. "It is great for me to be accepted this position on the team. I think I should do well since I know most of the players since when I was with the Leafs, my sector was to scout the OHL. In fact I was one of the people that convinced J.F.J (John Ferguson Jr.) to draft Brampton Battalion defensemen Phil Oreskovic."

He will be joining a good core of veterans such as Phil Oreskovic, defensemen and Anaheim Duck prospects John De Grey and Rick King. The team also has prospects such as 16 year old Cody Hodgson and 16 year old Mike Lomas.

The team has never reached the finals, but has made the playoffs six times in their eight year history. His first task should be getting a head coach, since the departure of Stan Butler.

        Brampton Sign Head Coach:
        Mike Blaisdell

        Sept.3, 2006
        Brampton, Ontario-

Newly signed General Manager Ryan Williams has made his first move in the signing of former NHL journeyman Mike Blaisdell. He last coached in 2004 in the British Ice League, coaching the Sheffield Steelers to championship before retiring. He has never coached in North America, but has 10 years of coaching experience in England. "I was contacted by Ryan Williams, asking me if I wanted to return and coach in the OHL. I was hesitant at first, but then he told me how much money he was offering (73,000 a year for four years), and I couldn't refuse."

Blaisdell played 343 games in the NHL with four different teams. In those 343 games he scored 70 goals and 154 points. He was picked 11th by Detroit in the 1981 NHL entry Draft. Outside of the NHL, he hoped around Europe and the minor leagues before hanging up his skates and retiring.

              Belleville gives:
              2007 9th round pick

              Barrie Gives:
              LW Tom Jefferson

Basically a fourth liner for a mid draft pick, nothing special.

Martin Amazing in Battalion Exhibition Win

                Sept.5, 2006
                Brampton, Ontario

The Battalion came out on top in an OHL exhibition battle tonight against the London Knights in a 5-4 win. Howie Martin led the way with two goals, but this game would require a shootout. The Battalion had the a 3-2 lead going into the third period, but they would not hold onto it as London's Cory Syvret would tie it with just over a minute left. But Aaron Snow would win it for us with a beauty of a goal in the shootout.

                  Sept.7, 2006
                  Sudbury, Ontario-

The Battalion were impressive against a strong Sudbury Wolves squad in there 7-4 exhibition game win. Luke Lynes led the with two goals and an assist. John Seymour was also good with one goal and two helpers. It was a 3-2 Brampton lead going into the third then it was a showdown as it was back and forth hockey with goals pouring in by the minute. But Brampton would get the upperhand. They play Sault Ste. Marie tomorrow.

The Hockey News Writes off Brampton's Chances

                      Sept.9, 2006
                      Brampton, Ontario

The hockey news has released their OHL season preview issue of their magazine. They predict the Ottawa 67's and the Sudbury Wolves to contend this season, while the Belleville Bulls and the Mississauga Icedogs have the chance to potentially surprise.

The Barrie Colts and the Erie Otters are predicted to have a long and dreadful season as they have no real talent.

They predicted the Brampton Battalion to end up around 15 out of the 20 teams. "I think this is complete crap. Are team has loads of talent and potential. Honestly who really cares what The Hockey News thinks? Half those guys don't know **** about hockey." Says GM Ryan Williams.

The report also said that Howie Martin and Cody Hodgson should have strong seasons. "That makes more scense. Both those kids are very talented. I can see Hodgson being a first round pick in 2008 if his play continues."

Overview:Erie gave up 16 year old rookie for a 17 year old rookie defensemen and a draft pick. Not really liking the trade for both sides as both players are garbage.

Verdict:Erie wins. They get a decent rookie defensemen plus a late round draft pick.

Verdict:Peterborough wins. Just because both arn't really established players yet. And Carter seems like the better of the two.
