Re: Beware The Blues...An OBG Production NHL 10

    After further thought...

updates will no longer be in game-to-game form at all. Simply because I have a wife and two kids and work every day now instead of pulling 40 hours in 2 days and having 5 off every week.

    So...

Updates will be at the 20-game marker, the 41 game marker, the trade deadline, the end of the regular season, a playoff preview for each round, and in the playoffs I will do game-to-game updates much like the latest ones you've seen so far...

In addition, there will be updates when signifigant things such as injuries, trades, or other interesting things pertaining to the Blues or NHL occur.

    Basically...

this will be a running journal of my chise with scheduled updates plus features on interesting occurances throughout the chise. For instance, if I get drubbed by the Sharks again by a 10-2 score, I will probably post an update as a game recap...

The change in style will kill some of the monotony that occurs when doing a game-to-game franchise. I mean, really...when I'm in season 3 of this chise, am I really gonna want to look back and see who won a meaningless game in November??? No.

So...from now on, only updates at regularly scheduled check points and key injuries and the like.

Sounds good, OBG. Your new approach is the only way I could ever do a dynasty nowadays. Interested to see what, if anything, you do as the trade deadline approaches...

Struggling Boyes Notches Hat-Trick Despite Injury

In an odd twist of luck, the struggling Brad Boyes who had just 10 goals through the first 41 games, tallied a hat trick tonight before taking a hit from Scott Niedermeyer of Anaheim that will keep him sidelined for approximately one week.

The Blues won the game 4-2, despite Anaheim outshooting the Blues 26-18.

Ryan Getslaf scored his 20th goal of the season while Teemu Selanne would score his 21st in the defeat.

Lars Eller To Make NHL Debut Against Kings; Crombeen Claimed On Waivers

Another promising young face will soon put on the Blue Note and step into his promising NHL career. Lars Eller, a 20 year old Danish Center who stands at 6 feet and 198 lbs, got the call last night and is here in LA today as the Blues prepare to finish their California swing with the win. Eller remarked of the call, "I was just sitting with some of the guys when coach called my phone...he said "Boyes got hurt and they want you in LA tommorow. I was shocked and paniced a little bit...I'm tired from the quick hectic travel...but I've got a lot of adrenaline."

John Davidson was quite approachable when asked about the call up of Lars, "It was bound to happen. The kid is a great playmaker with good offensive upside and great vision and defensively responsible. Boyes injury just gave us a good reason to push the button."

Eller has played 39 games with the Rivermen, tallying 12 goals and 15 assists and will be making his debut on the third line centering McClement on his left while Tkachuk flanks the right side.

The call-up moves Keith Tkachuk back to the right side of the ice after mostly playing center this season. Keith will remain the center on the 1st powerplay unit.

In order to make room for Eller, it forced the Blues to have to put B.J. Crombeen on waivers. Crombeen was claimed by Vancouver after playing 16 games with the Blues and registering only 1 goal.

          Eller Ratings (NHL Scouting Bureau)

          Overall 77
          87 Agility
          86 Offensive Awareness
          82 Speed
          82 Passing
          A in Offensive Potential
          B in Defensive Potential
          A- in Athletic Potential

          New Forward Lines

          Kariya-McDonald-Oshie
          Perron-Berglund-Backes
          Tkachuk-Eller-McClement
          Janssen-Steen-Winchester

*David Perron moves to second line in Boyes absence...Perron has had a dissappointing season with just 4 goals and 9 assists in the first half of the season.

Been following your dynasty for quite sometime. Really enjoyable! My brother moved to Missouri about a year ago and so I definetly keep an eye on the Blues now. Your dynasty has helped me get to know the players before the actual NHL season started. Thanks and keep it up! Go Blues!

Speaking of Bure, I did a Penguins chise with the Return of The Russian Rocket somewhere on here...

Bure is probably my all-time favorite player.

                    Blues + Eller=Unstoppable

The Blues Forward picked in the 1st round, 13th overall, of the 2007 draft has impressive debut on Blues third line.

The St. Louis Blues sunk the Los Angeles Kings 6-3 tonight but the real story was the debut of the Danish born Lars Eller who was called up just 24 hours before the opening faceoff of tonights contest.

Eller was shocked to get the call--

"Stunned. The guys and I were just chilling...had a little down time and my phone rang...it was the coach telling me that Murray had called him...Boyes was hurt and they wanted to get a look at me...so...here I am", said Eller of the moment where he knew he would soon step on NHL ice...and he did not let anyone down.

Eller was dynamic on the third line and may have given the Blues the piece they need to become a more legitimate contender IF he can keep this up. Eller had an assist in 16:09 of ice time and also took the games opening faceoff.

"Call it a welcoming gift", said Murray of starting the young Danish player in his NHL debut.

With Boyes out for the next week, its yet to be seen how much more the team will impress with his presence.

Lets hope that hat trick before his injury was a positive sign of things to come.

                    STL 2/5
                    LA 1/4

Andy McDonald racked up 3 assists while Erik Johnson would score twice, giving him 11 goals on the year.

                      Blue Notes

Brad Boyes and Barret Jackman returned in a 4-3 loss to the Blue Jackets. Lars Eller, playing in his second NHL game, was once again impressive, picking up another assist in the loss.

The Blues are 7th in the Western Conference with a 24-18-3 record.

The Blues TJ Oshie scored a hat trick in a 6-3 win over the Minnesota Wild pushing his goal total to 22 on the season in just 46 games as the Blues move to 25-18-3

Perron And Oshie Injured; Oshie Stays In Lineup

The Blues sustained a pair of injuries in a 4-0 loss to the Avalanche tonight as TJ Oshie fractured his jaw in a fight while David Perron will miss the next 7-8 weeks with Post Concussion Syndrome forcing the Blues to move Jay McClement to the third line as the Blues will also dress DJ King.

Oshie will play with a jaw protector.

The injury has put a nail in what has been a terrible season for David Perron.

The Blues are 26-19-3 on the season.

Deadline Looming Around Corner; Blues Management Denies All Rumours

With just one more game before the trade deadline, the Blues have been rolling having won 7 of 8 and now 35-24-3 on the season, sitting in the Western Conference's 5th seed.

The Blues who are ranked #1 among all NHL franchises on Hockeysfuture.com's list of teams with the best up and coming pools of young talent.

With the recent addition of Lars Eller, who has contributed noticably on the Blues 3rd unit and the up and coming Aaron Palushja and David Rundblad in Peoria, the Blues feel that pushing buttons at the deadline this year is not a necessity, maybe even a huge mistake if the team plans to continue its plan to fully build with patience from within.

"Its taken a lot of blood, sweat, and tears over the last few years to get to where we are today. That said, it will have to be a super sweet deal for us to make a move. It not only has to make sense now, but also sense in the future", said John Davidson when asked of the Blues strategy for the deadline.

Right now the Blues may not have that superduperstar many believe is a necessity for the Cup, but they boast a load of depth in quality 2-way forwards who are committed to the guys around them who have the ability to score 20 or more goals.

Stay tuned for more trade deadline coverage including team stats, league standings, league leaders, and a break down of all the deals on D-day.

Oshie Gives Blues Scare On Eve Of Trade Deadline

In a 5-4 loss to the Phoenix Coyotes (32-29-3), the St. Louis Blues (35-25-3) thought they were in trouble with the trade deadline looming less than 24 hours away. Oshie missed a hit in the 1st period of the game, crashing into the boards and slightly separating his shoulder on the play.

The Blues, who had announced that a deal was highly improbable, were all of a sudden forced to reconsider that moment as it had appeared that Oshie, who leads the team with 32 goals maybe be missing considerable time.

                                The Good News

The Blues found out later that night that Oshie's injury was not serious and the young forward will continue to dress.
