Re: The Anchorage Wolverines
Decisions, Decisions
By Stephen Holley, NHL Beat Writer
Anchorage Daily News
As the NHL trade deadline approaches, the Wolverines front office is not only thinking about choices needing to be made during the stretch run but also choices looming in the summer...
Here is a list of the NHLers up for contract negotiations this summer...
Lombardi 54 GP, 13 G, 21 A, 34 Pts
Michalek 54 GP, 3 G, 24 A, 27 Pts
Mueller 54 GP, 6 G, 16 A, 22 Pts
Hale 54 GP, 1 G, 18 A, 19 Pts
Upshall 54 GP, 5 G, 11 A, 16 Pts
Kalinen 54 GP, 0 G, 14 A, 14 Pts
Yandle 39 GP, 1 G, 11 A, 12 Pts
Lepisto 14 GP, 0 G, 10 A, 10 Pts
Dawes 54 GP, 5 G, 3 A, 8 Pts
The obvious standouts are Lombardi and Sami Lepisto who have both had productive seasons and look to fit into the Wolverines long term plans moving forward.
Players who are questionable such as Peter Mueller who currently is rotting on the fourth line need to be seen as moveable at the deadline.
Along with the NHLers listed, 24 AHLers in the system are up for contract this summer.
Practically the entire San Antonio club is up for renewal.
Lots of work to be done and decisions to be made.

Re: The Anchorage Wolverines
I'm worried about not having a full minor league roster on opening night next year!!! San Antonio has been dreadful this year...I wouldn't blame them for wanting to leave.
Might see a few beer leaguers on the 4th line...Comment

Re: The Anchorage Wolverines
24 Players eh, thats allot. But then again you could practically rebuild your whole AHL team with the future, the way you want it to be. Could be fun.Comment

Re: The Anchorage Wolverines
Dude, you can literally sign a complete AHL roster in the offseason, so many decent rookies slip through the cracks and go unsigned. I'm not talking about the first round picks that some people seem to be able to find but the guys who have good potential and are high 60's-low-70's, I love taking those guys on as projects.
I picked up a couple in my own dynasty and some of these guys are hidden gems.Comment

Re: The Anchorage Wolverines
You're nuts! That's my favorite part of the game (the offseason), I spend like an hour just messing around with salaries and stuff.Comment

Re: The Anchorage Wolverines
I'll probably enjoy this offseason a lot more since I actually plan on playing several seasons with this team, therefore making the decisions matter.
In the past, usually I wouldn't play the second season to much and knew I wouldn't ahead of time...killed the fun of signing guys.Comment

Yeah, I was the exact same way so I know what you mean. Hopefully I can stay committed to this Caps 'chise for at least another couple seasons.I'll probably enjoy this offseason a lot more since I actually plan on playing several seasons with this team, therefore making the decisions matter.

I'm starting to feel a little burned out from the game-by-game updates. I've decided I'm going to play 62 games a season and sim 20, and I've yet to decide whether I'll continue doing game-by-game. I might go every second game for next season.Comment

Re: The Anchorage Wolverines
I think I'm gonna do weekly updates next season with monthly roundups. That will dramatically reduce the workload by a large perentage actually. I just wanna make it through this season doing game-to-game.Yeah, I was the exact same way so I know what you mean. You'll never catch me simming, though. lolComment

Re: The Anchorage Wolverines
I hear you guys going all out for all 82 games can be tiring. I might try simming the first 42 and playing the next 42. I like the management side of the dynasty more the actually playing the games anyways. With OBG's sliders even if you let the computer play the whole game for you the results are still pretty realistic.
Edit - By simming I mean playing the game but then selecting no controller so the computer plays both teamsSENS -
