Tampa signed their draft picks today, Matthew Petersen who was their first pick was signed to a $0.900M 3-year deal which is the maximum salary for rookies in the NHL. Petersen is a playmake with great vision and passing skill, but his strongest weapon is his speed. He can use his speed to get by the opponents and deliver passes to his teammates. Petersen will get the chance to play in the NHL this season. The rest of Tampa's draft picks will play in Tampa's AHL affiliate Norfolk Admirals.

The three best offensive players in the Lightning team is put on the same line, depending on how this goes they might get split up between the first and second line. In the second line the rookie Matthew Petersen will get the chance to show what he can do together with Malone and Tanguay. Victor Hedman another rookie gets the spot in the first defensive pair together with Meszaros. Smith and Nittymaki will be matched equally in the start of the season and they will have to fight for the first goalie spot.
