    Re: NHL 11 GM summit

Alright guys got a few updates to post

RW Mike Brown (77) is out for 9 weeks with a broken leg (Dion hit him with a slap shot) Brown had 1 goal and was a +1 in 5 games

I called up RW Brayden Irwin (74) who has 3 goales 2 assist and a -3 in 7 games for the marlies He will replace brown on the thirds line untill brown is healthy again.

    Trade:
D Thomas Kaberle (TWD) 2011 6th (ANA) and the rights to Jonas Frogren (DFD)
    To NJ for:
    LW Zach Parise (SNP)
    Stats:
    Kaberle 83 OVR 1 year @ 4.25M remaining C/C/C POT 32 years old
Frogren 75 OVR C/C/C POT 30 years old
    Parise 89 OVR 1 year @ 2.85M remaining B-/C/C POT 26 years old
    Comments:
Perfect. Kaberle has been underperforming and I need top 6 forwards, frogren is useless and ill never offer him a contract anyways.

    Since I had to shufle people around due to pathetic performances on ice, injuries and trading here is my updated lines after 10 games played;

    Line one
    LW (SNP) Z. Parise (89) C (PLY) M. grabovski (82) RW (TWF) K. Versteeg (81)
LD (TWD) D. Phaneuf (84) RD (DFD) M. Komisarek (84)

    Line two
    LW (SNP) N. Kulemin (80) C (PLY) T. Bozak (79) RW (GRN) P. Kessel (84)
LD (TWD) F. Beauchemin (82) RD (DFD) M. Jones (74)

    Line three
    LW (SNP) B. Maclean (76) C (PLY) K. Turris (77) RW (GRN) C. Armstrong (81)
LD (TWD) C. Gunnarsson (77) RD (DFD) D. Richmond (73)

    Line four
    LW (PLY) T. Brent (74) C (TWF) J. Mitchell (79) RW (TGH) J. Rosehill (74)

    Captains:
    (C) Dion Phaneuf
    (A) Phil Kessel
    (A) Zach Parise

So Gustavsson will be starting for the next few games since Giguere only wants to clear the puck over the glass every game he plays in. Sadly in 10 games he had 8 penalty minutes, every single one is delay of game for clearing over the glass. Have a seat Jean.

Up next will be my 10 game recap and outlook/impressions

      10 game report: Maple Leafs

      2-7-1

Yep we are sucking hard at this point. I was happy when jersey came looking for kaberle. I hope parise will boost up my scoring, which has been minimal to say the least. It started to come more in the last few games, getting more chances and playing better as a team, but i also started messing around with strategies alot.

      Team leaders: Toronto Maple Leafs

      Goals: C M. Grabovski (3)
      Assists: LW Z. Parise (2)
      Points: LW Z. Parise (3) C K. Turris (3) D C. Gunnarsson (3) C M. Grabovski
      Penalty Minutes: D D. Phaneuf (14)
      Plus/Minus: D M. Jones (+3)
      Powerplay goales: LW Z. Parise (1) C M. Grabovski (1)
      Game winning goals: C M. Grabovski (1) RW P. Kessel (1)
      Shots: LW Z. Parise (24)
      Shooting %: RW M. Brown (20%)
      Face off wins: C M. Grabovski (65)
      Face off tried: C M. Grabovski (123)
      Face off %: C M. Grabovski (52.8%)
      Hits: D D. Phaneuf (35)
      Give aways: D M. Jones (32)
      Takeaways: LW N. Kulemin (28) C M. Grabovski (28)
      Minutes: LW Z. Parise (224)

Comments: EVERYONE has sucked. simply put. I had to adjust the penalty sliders because I was getting 10 penalties a game from my cpu teammates. So the first 6 games are skewed badly due to that. I turned it down one click and its much better at about 2-5 a game. I would say Kessel has been my biggest let down, he has been invisable, he has one goal on the PP and thats it. my best player on the ice has been Versteeg, been making plays and making space doing well on the ice.

Turris has been showing flashes of skill and greatness, but to be fair to him he is only on the third line, so seeing lower minutes and no with the best players. He currently has 1 goal 2 assists 3 points and even on the plus/minus. so not bad. I think I will give him the next ten games on the second line, switching him with bozak and see how that goes.

      10 game report: Marlies

      4-3-5
      Team leaders: Toronto Marlies

      Goals: LW R. Slaney (8)
      Assists: LW L. Caputi (5)
      Points: LW R. Slaney (9)
      Penalty Minutes: D J. Ryan (39)
      Plus/Minus: LW R. Hamilton (4) LW M. Paajarvi (4) RW D. Mitchell (4)
Powerplay goales: RW G. Scott (2)
Game winning goals: LW R. Slaney (2)
      Shots: LW R. Slaney (39)
      Shooting %: LW R. Slaney (20.5%)
      Face off wins: C D. Boyce (37)
      Face off tried: C D. Boyce (69)
      Face off %: C D. Boyce (57.1%)
      Hits: D R. Stokes (37)
      Give aways: D J. Ryan (17)
      Takeaways: D K. Aulie (9) D T. Perry (9) D J. Ryan (9)
      Minutes: D K. Aulie (361)

Looks like the franchise is sharing the same fate, but this is what I projected, except I figured the leafs would have a little bit of a better record after 10. I have adjusted my team strategies and will continue to plug on, lets see how things are after 20 games.

Wait a second, you got Parise for Kaberle and Frogren?

        What?

And the rookies are nice, but it sucks most of them are free agents. Though as a Sabres fan, Kassian is a monster. Good signing.

Yep. kaberle and a couple slightly warm hand towels + a 6th for parise. The sad part is I put the draft pick in myself, they offered me parise for kabs and hand towels straight up. Realistic? no. but devils are hard up on cap room and have kovy now, parise will surely be more expensive then kaberle after this year.

Yeah The rookies are nice to have but sucks they were not on thier real teams. I offered them all one contract and if they didnt accept I didnt ask them again, since in fairness they shouldnt be on my team anywyays, but hey some random cpu team would have signed them anyways lol. there were others in the list too including burmistrov and a couple other high end picks that i dont remember.

In league news the leafs are currently on a scoring streak, Parise is dominating the offensive zone, netting atleast one goal a game, sometimes two. It seems Parise has turned this team completly around, my first line is a suddenly a threat and my powerplay has been very effective. he seems to have added some work ethic and enthusiasm that was previously not there!. I need to play 5 more games then I will put up my 20 game report.

            8-9-3

This is about where I thought I would be at, so going well according to my season outlook. I would like to see more consistancy out of the team, but I think I am on the right path now. I started the season loosing game after game, then won a bunch by big numbers, now im squeeking them out. Over time losses one goal games shoot outs. Just finished my last game here against Dallas and it was a huge fight all game, really close.

Comments: Getting better I am 6-2 in my last ten games, believe it or not my scoring has improved alot from the first ten. Lets just say the team has alot of room to grow.

Noteables: Overall we need to improve but that will come with time over the next couple of years as my player pool expands and has more talent.

Francois beauchemin is coasting along right now, not doing much of anything. I would like to see his physical and offensive play pick up.

Gustavsson has given me a chance to win in EVERY game he has been in net, I am very pleased with his stellar performance.

Zach Parise has done verything he can, while he has gone cold the last couple games he has put up big numbers since coming to T.O

Phil Kessel is continuing to under perform, putting up 2 goals and 4 points in 20 games is sad for his talent level.

Turris has fell back in production, he will return to the third line center, against switching places with bozak.

Looking decent here. lets check in on some prospects

Magnus Paajarvi has 23 games played and sadly only 1 goale and 3 assist 8 penalty minutes and +3. I was hoping for more, but hey he needs time.

Nikolai Suglabov has 7 goals and 7 assists in 16 games 8 penalty minutes and +6, nice surprise here.

                Hahaha I know right?

I dont know what it is with this game, but it seems the Sniper type has a tendancy to gain the offensive zone do a skate to stick deke, often with no pressure, fumble and loose the puck, or immediatly shoot from beyond the circles.

Now I understand the sniper description fits this pattern of shoot over pass, but comon this is just dumb. and Kessel does this so many times in a game it is not funny. I find that as a defenceman I have to drive the zone myself if he is on the ice, just so he wont do this. I am tempted to change his player type to a playmaker and see if he calms down a bit on the stupid dekes.

So I put Giguere back in net last night to give Gustavsson a break, and he let in seven goals. his GAA is above 3 now, I didn't check exactly what but its bad. his save percentage last night was in the 7-800 range. so once again he will ride the pine. I just hope Gustavsson can continue his hot streak, if not I am screwed. Parise got back on the score sheet though, so its not all bad.

I also find that this happens too but not in every game. I find it more happens when there are one of more shut down Ds working in front of the net but that might just be me.

I sure hope nothing happens to the Monster or you might really be in trouble.

So last night my friend wanted to play, and I let him play my dynasty (bad decision)

He not only lost to edmonton 7-3 but

C John Mitchell (79) will be out 6-7 weeks with a broken rib

                      I have called up

C Tim Brent (74) to center the fourth line untill I can either bring in a center via free agency or mitchell returns.

                      In other injur news

RW Mike Brown (77) has roughly 2 weeks untill he returns from a broken leg

                        Re: NHL 11 GM summit

                        One more quick injury update

RW Phil Kessel is out for 1-2 weeks with a strained hamstring

                        I have called up

LW Luca Caputi (74) he will see third line work and Nikolai Kulemin (80) will move into my second line void.

At this point my lack of franchise depth is glaring, the team is weakening badly, and rapidly. Lets hope the guys can pull through. I will be leaning heavily on Parise and versteeg in the coming games.

Tough loss with all the injures. I'd kick your friends *** if I were you. With a shovel.

Still keeping pace to what I expected. Though recently injuries have been a big concern, with 3 players out at the same time in a thin as is line up, not good.

Not scoring enough as usual. Komo phaneuf and beauchemin are on my trading block, I really hope someone makes an offer, dying to rid of them.

Gustavsson is still leading the way, he has slipped a bit but is still giving me a chance in all the games he plays in.

Noteables: I have little secondary scoring my top line is 1.2.3.4 in scoring then it really drops from there. Kessel has a hard time staying healthy missing two weeks earlier, and is now injured again for another two weeks. Kulemin has been playing better of late but needs to bring his game up.

Komisarek, Beauchemin and phaneuf are doing nothing. I get the hits from them and alot of penalties but thats it, on the flip side gunarsson is provding the points from the back end with 11 so far, 3 goals 8 assists.

Zach Parise has gone almost completly cold. with only a couple of assists the past few games
