12-14/2/2011: Looking for thier 6th win in a row, the Kings would not allow it defeating the Juggernault Caps 5 to 2. Dustin Brown had a field day with Varlamov and company picking up 2 goals and 2 assists.
"This was a bad loss, we should have played better then we did. We definately need to work on a few things before we continue our Western Trip". Boudreau commented after the game.
Having practiced hard the following morning, the Caps redeemed themselves beating the Yotes 5 to 1, but the biggest news of the game was the play of 'Scrappy Russian' Artyukhin (has 118 pims in 19 games, wow).
Commiting 19 minutes of infractions, Artyukhin got into two tussels sending both opponents to the locker room with facial modifications. Aucion (Broken Jaw) and Morris (Broken nose) will both be spending quality time in the press box and will no doubt hide next time these two teams play.
What a behemoth of a grinder, exactly what Washington was looking for.

16/2/2011: The Caps next opponent were the Ducks and eventhough they beat them 7 to 4, there was definatelty a scare in the 3rd.
"I don't know what happened. I was playing well and then bam, I couldn`t stop anything." Neuvirth
What was Michal talking about, well it was the 4 goal explosion in the 3rd by the Ducks in under 3 minutes of play.
"Don`t get me wrong, we have total faith in Neuvirth. But after putting up a great effort in the first 40 minutes and then letting in 4 goals in under 3, we had to do something. So yes I pulled him, put in Varlamov, and took a timeout. And it worked, Godfrey and Semin (hat trick) were able to tally one each and Varla was able to hold onto the won." Remarked Boudreau. "Now we have 3 more away games and I think for atleast the 1st two games we will give Neuvirth the nights off, maybe we have been playing him to much."

Other players of note have been Josh Godfrey, Alexander Semin, and Mathieu Perreault.
Josh Godfrey, the human cannon as some are calling him, has been phenominal over the last two games picking up 2 goals (1 a PPG) and 2 assists. His offensive play from the blue line has been incredible and so far looks to be a keeper going into the playoff stretch.
Alexander Semin, who is looking to surpass his 40 goal total of last year, has been on fire knotting 5 goals (30 so far this season) in the last 3 games, including a hat trick against the Ducks, and of course all this from the 2nd line. In a contract year, the Caps would be crazy not to resign him.
Mathieu Perreault, the rookie who bumped Marcus Johansson, has been turning heads with his outstanding performance over the last 21 games. Moving to the 7th spot in rookie scoring he is only 15 points behind 34 point leader Bryan Bickell (who has played 57 games with the Hawks) and could very well take the title if he keeps he streak going.
TOP 3 Rookies:
Bickell (Hawks): 34 points
Hall (Oilers): 31 points
Seguin (Bruins): 24 points
