Re: Beyond the Igloo
Penguins Acquire Ennis from Buffalo
PITTSBURGH - In a shocking move today, the Penguins have picked up centre Tyler Ennis from Buffalo. In return, the Penguins sent centre Brenden Morrison, a 2nd round pick in 2012, and a 2nd round pick in 2013.
Ennis, 22, is coming off of a very successful 2010 campaign. Albeit it was in the AHL, but it was still very impressive. In 80 AHL games, Ennis put 30 in the twine and tallied 45 assists for 75 points and was a +12. He only racked up 11 penalty minutes and half of his goals were on the powerplay.
However, when he was called up to the NHL for the Sabres this season, Ennis has been pretty disappointing so far. However, his disappointment hasn't been on the scoresheet, where he has one goal and three assists in twelve games, but rather the fact that he is a -7 with 7 penalties in minutes.
Here is a picture of interim GM Mario Lemieux after the trade:
Due to the trade, the Penguins lines now look like such:
Alexander Semin - Tyler Ennis - Johan Franzen
Milan Lucic - Erik Christensen - Eric Tangradi
Matt Cooke - Dustin Jeffrey - Paul Kariya
Georges Laraque - Joe Vitale - Nick Johnson
Anton Volchenkov - Kris Letang
Ryan Parent - Adam Larsson
Alex "Goose" Goligoski - Pavel Kubina
Andy Sutton
Mathieu Garon
