The Return of the Jets (NHL 11)

    The Winnipeg Jets are Back

-After struggles financially the Phoenix Coyotes, the NHL, and a new owner from Winnipeg have come to an agreement on the sale and moving of the Coyotes. After initially being against the idea, the League finally caved in and approved of the sale. Fans in Winnipeg are already excited and waiting for the reveal of the new uniforms. Many have already put in pre-orders. Season tickets sold out and there is no lack of enthusiasm from the players either. Captain and former Winnipeg Jets first round draft pick Shane Doan is excited about the possibility of ending his career where he started.

(Hey we can all dream the NHL would do something productive with the Coyotes. Also note about how I will run this. I will only build through free agency, the draft, and CPU offered trades. Will be playing every game with my own sliders. Thanks to those who were following my Predators Dynasty. This one will go from now until NHL 12 comes out.)

    Jets Season Preview

-After making the playoffs last season and a move in the offseason, the Winnipeg Jets have a lot of buzz around them going into the 2010-11 season. New GM Dominick Bellini has already talked about giving the young players more playing time than expected. Veterans Ray Whitney and Ed Jovanovski are the two names being mentioned most in trade rumors. Young forwards Kyle Turris, Mikkel Boedker, Brett Maclean and Viktor Tikhonov are all expected to see a lot of ice time in the upcoming season in Winnipeg. Defensemen Keith Yandle is in the last year of his contract and is looking to bring in big money with a solid season. On the back end any team anchored by Goalie Ilya Bryzgalov has a chance to make noise during the season. After his solid play last season in Phoenix, the Jets are hoping he can show that kind of play this season. Fans are expecting a playoff run in the Jets first season in Winnipeg in over a decade.

      October 9, 2010 At Boston

-The Jets kicked off their return to the league on the road against Boston tonight. It was a rough start to the game taking a penalty two minutes in and giving up a PP goal to Boychuk. The first period didn't get any better as Recchi put in a rebound to give Boston a 2 goal lead going into the first intermission. The second period saw Radim Vrbata cut the lead to 1 before Lucic reclaimed a 2 goal lead for boston. Boston took a 3-1 lead into the third period. Boston would add an empty net goal to seal the win.

      -Final Score

      Boston (1-0-0)- 4

      Winnipeg (0-1-0)- 1

Re: The Return of the Jets (NHL 11)

        October 10, 2010 vs Boston

-The Jets home opener almost saw a major comeback, but Winnipeg fell one goal short. The Jets gave Boston a 4-0 lead in the second before scoring two late second period goals to make it a game. With a goal towards the end of the third period it set up a final flurry from Winnipeg, but the team just couldn't quite get that last goal. Up next for the Jets is Detroit at home.

                    October 17, 2010 at Anaheim

-The Winnipeg Jets outshoot the Ducks, but fall in a shootout after being shut down by Jonas Hiller. It was a game the Jets controlled play, but just couldn't find a way to put the winning goal past Hiller. Labarbera was solid in net for Winnipeg but couldn't make the stop needed in the shootout to get the team a win. Up next for Winnipeg is a home game against the Kings.

(This is by far the most physical team at the forward positions I have every had. Tons of TWF and PWF. Going to be playing a more aggressive forecheck with these guys. My third line can be turned too if I need some true skill guys on the ice. Other than that it is a bruising team I have. Especially the second line with 6'6 Hanzal and 6'3 Knuble.)

                        October 23, 2010 vs Carolina

-The Jets again looked like the dominant team on their home ice. They outshot the Hurricans 33-20 and came away with a 5-2 win. Martin Hanzal lead the way with two goals and Bryzgalov was once again solid in net. The size and strength of Winnipeg seemed to wear down a smaller Carolina team and after Skinner tied the game up for the Hurricanes in the third Winnipeg scored three straight goals to end the game. Up next the Jets hit the road for games against Montreal, Ottawa, and Detroit.

                          October 25, 2010 at Montreal

-Winnipeg gives up a late third period goal and loses in OT to stay winless on the road this season. A good game played defensively by both teams kept most of the shots to the outside making it easier on the goalies. Brooks Laich is showing his worth on Winnipeg on the PP where he has a PP goal in consecutive games. The Jets stay on the road and will play Ottawa tomorrow, Labarbera is expected in net.
