Cam Ward Shuts Out Penguins
-The Penguins high powered offense was shut completely down by Cam Ward in the Hurricanes 2-0 win over new divisional foe Pittsburgh. MacDonald, Crosby and Jagr just could not get a puck past Ward. These two teams meet again in one month, we will see if the Penguins can get on the scoreboard in that one.

Re: Created Players Be a GM the Reboot (NHL 11)
STEAMER "COMES OUT SOLID" TO START NEW SEASON
SEATTLE- A new franchise and a fresh start were a good combination for the Seattle Seals and new goaltender Cleveland Steamer. After a tumultuous few years in the Oilers' franchise that started with demands and no contract and ended with an appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals a year ago. After falling in the final series, Steamer demanded a trade away from Alberta and back to familiar territory in America. So far this season Steamer has solid stats (sub-3 GAA, 91%-plus save pct.) but not the record to back it up. This is a transcript of Steamer's first at-length interview with the Seattle Times.
Reporter: How are you doing after an interesting last 5 months?
Steamer: I'm very glad to be in Seattle and the face of a new team. Although our play so far this season hasn't shown what we're really capable of, I believe we will step up and get some more W's.
Reporter: Describe your time in Edmonton.
Steamer: A roller coaster, to say the least. After being picked Number 1 i thought i would be treated like royalty and that never happened. i shouldnt have expected a low-class franchise like the Oilers treat anybody good. I mean everybody in town kisses Taylor Hall's a$$ every single day and i cant even get a freakin contract? what a joke. it's probably cause im an American. They never appreciated me from day 1. Over the three years, including the one without a contract, they never really made me feel wanted, and that's not the way you handle a top-draft pick. The level of professionalism is laughable at best. The only reason they reached the Stanley Cup finals is because I picked up my play in the postseason, plain and simple. Management has never done anything useful and probably never will
Reporter: This is starting to sound like on of those rants that you said you had under control.
Steamer (stands up): Keep running your mouth, bozo.........
Reporter (frightened): I'm sorry Cleveland, I dont want to get on your bad side or anything. We saw how that turned out in Edmonton...........
Steamer (gets up, punches reporter): What now punk!?!?!
Security had to be brought in to separate Steamer from the reporter, who had his jaw and 3 ribs broken during the melee. Because he left the scene after the skirmish he was arrested at his home and held overnight at jail.
SEALS' GM ANNOUNCEMENT
Due to the events that took place during Cleveland Steamer's recent interview with a Seattle Times reporter, Steamer was fined $25,000 and will perform 100 hours of community service.Last edited by Hinchdogg; 06-04-2011, 01:35 PM.TEAMS

Re: Created Players Be a GM the Reboot (NHL 11)
Norton Getting Used to AHL in Slow Start
On a top team like the Manchester Monarchs playing time is hard to come by, and it is even harder on a defense first squad. David Norton is adjusting to the rigors of pro hockey early on in Manchester. The former Vancouver Giant has only registered 6 assists in his last 12 games, after 8 points in 11 games to start off. However, he his lack of offense lately has been negated by strong 2-way play.
"He has been great for us" says head coach Mark Morris. "His offense isn't what we expected, but he's a rookie, he gets time for that. We are very impressed by his defensive and physical game so far. In our top 6 he may be the only one bringing so much tenacity to his game, which is a big boost for us."
Even though David Norton has been on an offensive drought, not all is bad for the California star as he gets used to the pro game. Await his drought to end and watch the beauty happen.Bringing the reign since 2010Comment

Re: Created Players Be a GM the Reboot (NHL 11)
The Toronto Star
Toronto- ON.
The bad tempers are starting to flare in T-dot as the Toronto Maple Leafs sit 15th in the Eastern Conference. Over the past few weeks, there have been many comments from players and coaches alike that portrays the frustration going on in that locker room. Jasper Askola, former 2nd Overall Pick, had this to say "I mean it's tough you know. Playing hockey in the NHL, it is a big competition if you get what i say. We are last place right now and that is no fun eh. Hockey in Finland was perfect, we would never lose matches ya know, but hey, the chicks in Canada are alot more 'friendly' if you get me. But no, in all seriousness we need to start focusing and just keep our head up and keep on truckin it."
Just when it looked like Brian Burke was starting to build that championship team, and the club was taking a step forward, they took three steps back this season. For such a woeful club that hasn't seen playoff hockey in 8 years, one would think that fans would be going nuts, and while some are, most are staying cool.
Jasper Askola has been one of the few bright spots for the Leafs, with about a 0.5 PPG average as a D-man, he has been producing offensively. And while his english may be a bit broken, he can certainly play hockey and keep up with the NHL playstyle.
The team will apparently attend various 'team building' sessions to try and help pick up the pace a bit. But don't expect too much, after all, this is the leafs we're talking about.Comment
