Bellini's Phone Interview With Las Vegas Sport Radio

Host: Hey Dominick, nice to talk to you again. I should say thank you for all the exclusive interviews, we now are broadcast across the country.

Bellini: No problem at all. I am actually glad to be calling to talk to you guys. I was just informed I made the all-star team. Also I have been trying to get the local media in Ottawa to pick your show up.

Host: Thanks, then I can call this an 'International' show. Alright so first off congratulations on the all-star selection. What does that mean to you after your struggles in Florida?

Bellini: It is a huge relief. I am actually more excited about sitting in the thick of the playoff race right now with Ottawa. We had a great month in January, and we are hoping to continue this through the rest of the season. I know the fans would love us to get to the playoffs, and they have been very welcoming to me all season long.

Host: Did you ever consider sticking with the Florida organization after finding out it was going to be moving to Quebec?

Bellini: Hell no! I mean come on, whats worse than living in a place where no one cares about hockey? Living in a place full of French Canadians. Don't get me wrong the players in our league from Quebec are great, but I cannot imagine living there myself.

Host: On that note we should get to some callers, you know before you earn yourself another fine.

Bellini: -Laughs- Fair enough let's see what the listeners want to know.

Caller: What has been the biggest adjustment for you in changing teams?

Bellini: You mean besides playing in a full arena every night? I would say just the culture of the city outside of hockey. I had lived in the southern part of the US my whole life, and spent one year overseas playing hockey. It is just a new experience for me being in Canada. I will say they love their hockey up here and we have an amazing fan base in Ottawa. I expect great things from our organization to reward these fans in the future.

Caller: In Florida you seemed to have a short fuse with your lack of scoring, and you went off to the media about your teammates a lot. Were your new teammates in Ottawa worried that you might hurt the chemistry when you showed up?

Bellini: The first thing I did when arriving in Ottawa was go to dinner with Spezza and Alfredsson. I told them that I made some mistakes in Florida, but I am a passionate player and I will say what is on my mind. I also told them I will be the hardest working guy on the team, and the best teammate here in Ottawa. They welcomed me to the team and now I have not had a better time playing hockey than I am now. I am just hoping I can talk Daniel into coming back for another season.

Caller: What has been the biggest difference for you allowing you to have an all-star season and be top 5 in the league in points?

Bellini: Experience and teammates. I learned last year to fight through the tough times and keep playing hard. This season I am with a more talented team. My teammates and I mesh well together, and playing on a line with Alfredsson and Michalek has been wonderful. Having Spezza on what I like to think of as our second first line also allows us more freedom in our matchups. In Florida I would see maybe 1 shift a game against a non-defensive matchup, here teams cannot focus on just my line.

Host: Well we are out of time, Dominick it was nice talking to you, good luck the rest of the season.

Bellini: Thanks again for having me. I would also like to throw in we just got my website up, and on it there is a contest to win a trip here to Ottawa for a week to spend some time with the team and go to the games. Get on there and sign up fans. I also believe you received the signed jersey I sent in to give away to a fan in Vegas?

Host: We did, we are starting our contest this week to find out who is your biggest fan here. Winner gets your jersey and an extra entry into the drawing for the trip to Ottawa.

Bellini: Sounds good. I'll be in touch, thanks to all the fans out there for helping this season be a success.

after a rough middle patch, Steamer has come on nicely down the stretch. excited to see another playoff run, albeit in the AHL. I'm sure Steamer will have a few choice words about playing in the Stanley Cup Finals one year and and relegated to the AHL the next......

Welcome to the Mark and Brian radio program and KLOS 95.5 radio! Today we have a special interview with Los Angeles Kings rookie forward David Norton

M&B-Nice to have you here David

DN-Thank you, it is a pleasure to be on this right now.

M&B-This has been a great year for the Kings, a young team that has experience to be a force this postseason. After joining the team mid-season, what has it been like?

DN-It really is a great enviornment in the locker here. Everyone gets along well and it really does show on the ice. I have been on teams where there was nothing like this and no on-ice chemistry, but on this team the chemistry is there in spades. Sure I had to sing twice for the team, but that's customary stuff.

                    M&B-*Chuckles*. How's the singing voice?

DN-You don't want to here it. Definitely ain't winning any Grammys.

M&B-Laughing: Ok, back on subject. Being an elite scorer in your days in college and in the USHL and out here, how have you felt about your scoring output for the Kings?

DN-Definitely was hoping for more once I got to the NHL that's for sure. It isn't what I expect from myself and I need to do more. However, I know that I need to get accustomed to the NHL before I can get concerned with offense. Defense and hitting also matters and it's been more of a focus in my role.

M&B-As everyone out here knows, you only grew up a short while away in Long Beach. Is it nervous knowing you know those people in the stands?

DN-Not at all. I don't pay much focus to the crowd when I'm in the game. I need to worry about my play not what's off-ice. Though it is nice to know they're there. Like when I scored my first goal I jumped into the boards right in front of my friends on purpose. *laughs*

M&B-*Laughing in studio* Good luck in the playoffs this year.

                    DN-Thank you.
