    Leafs Fire Burke

TORONTO -- After two years with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Brian Burke finds himself on the unemployment list along with former head coach Ron Wilson. An unknown official from MLSE has told the Leafs' website that "Burke was an okay general manager, but we feel that there are others who could do his job better tenfold." The Maple Leafs are expected to replace Burke with former Vancouver Canuck Pavel Bure. Ron Wilson does not currently have a replacement, but did have a comment for the Toronto Press: "I dklfdfskldfskn."

And is Wilson speaking like Don Vito from Viva la Bam?

            Leafs Sign Vets Turco, Prospal

TORONTO - It was announced by Toronto's GM Pavel Bure today that the Leafs have signed veteran players Vaclav "Vinny" Prospal and Marty Turco, each to 2-year contracts. Prospal will make $3 million each year and Turco will make close to $5 million. Bure says that "[The Leafs] hope that the signing of Turco will help us unload JS Giguere's behemoth of a contract." Expecting Giguere to be in the AHL next season, this puts the Leafs at a salary of $38.435, which is below the league minimum. This may cause the Leafs to keep Giguere in the NHL this year.

The Leafs also sent Colton Orr and a mid-level prospect to the Oilers for W Robert Nilsson.

            Leafs lines:

            Nilsson - Prospal - Kessel
            Kulemin - Grabovski - Stalberg
            Bozak - Mitchell - Sjostrom
            Hanson - Primeau - Rosehill

            Phaneuf - Schenn
            Kaberle - Komisarek
            Beauchemin - Finger

            Turco
            Giguere

Alright guys, this is my plan for this season:

Simulate until end of year, give an update

Reasoning: It's the Cup Finals ATM irl so...

I'll also simulate the next season and give another update.

                GM goals this season:
                -Trade Jeff Finger
                -Trade JS Giguere
                -Disregard GM rep, acquire prospects

                Owner goal:
-I will be happily surprised if you make the playoffs, but won't be angry if you don't

                  End-of-Year Update

TORONTO - It was a tight race for the worst team in hockey, but the Leafs finally "won" it in the end. With a team record of 30-46-6, the Leafs ended the year with 66 points. That was significantly worse than the Minnesota Wild, the second worst team in hockey, with 72 points (31-41-10). I'm sure that the Bruins are happy, as they get to choose from Larsson, RNH, or Sean Couturier. It's also not going to be a good year in the FA department for the Leafs as prospective franchise defenseman Luke Schenn is an RFA.

                    Leafs Get Stamkos at Draft

Stamkos will now be a teammate of Gunnarsson

MINNESOTA - At the NHL Draft today, Pavel Bure made a swift move, sending D Dion Phaneuf, a 2013 2nd round pick and a 2014 1st round pick to Tampa Bay for C Steven Stamkos. This comes the year that Stamkos becomes an RFA, so it may just be both sides trying to deal from a strength. Evgeni Malkin was a recent acquisition for the Tampa Bay Bolts, so Stamkos sort of became expendable. Steve Yzerman, NHL legend and Lightning GM said this about the trade: "Well, I'm trying to get a nice defenseman here, as I dealt Hedman to Pittsburgh in the Malkin deal." Stamkos, 21, is coming off of a disappointing season where he put 24 in the net and assisted on 32 others for 56 points.

Leafs went 43-29-10 and made the playoffs as the 4th seed. They beat the Florida (WTF) Panthers in 7 games but lost to the Montreal Canadiens in 7 games.
