Welcome to TSN, we have some big news to announce to you today in the Hockey world. The Devils have fired long time GM Lou Lamoriello, and hired, well we have a name here but from all our research we have seen this is his first job in hockey at all let alone the NHL and to top it all off he is only 23 years old his name is Peter McEwen. The real question is have the devils lost there mind? Or is this just all a ploy have this kid ruin the team so they can be the new Oilers and be the basement team for the next few years. Well we work on getting an interview together.

Welcome to Sportsnet, this is the normally the time we see players showing back up in the city and getting ready for preseason to begin but apparently that is not so for all players on the Vancouver Canucks this year. We have a reports that Cory Schneider was seen at YVR packed and ready to go, his flight was taking him to New York. We asked Canucks GM for any comment but he said he didn't have any at this point in time.

The big question here was not if Cory Schneider was going to be moved it was when we all expected to see it by the trade dead line as his contract is up at the end of the year and it seemed unlikely the Canucks would be able to resign him, and still have Luongo under contracted. Stay tuned and we will keep you updated on the Cory Schneider situation.

Two young men walked into the press conference, one of them no one recognized it was in a suit the other was wearing a New Jersey Devil's uniform. Peter stepped up to the mic with a smile. "Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, to start i would like to introduce my self I am Peter McEwen the new GM of the Devil's and i wanted to start right away to make my mark on this historic franchise, with this most likely being Martin Brodeur's last season it put the Devils close to a place they have not been in for a very long time. That is in need of a new number 1 goalie so I would like to introduce my first move as a GM, Cory Schneider, who i got for Johan Hedberg, a 2014 First and Second round pick, as well as a 2015 first round pick."

TSN, "Have you sacrificed the future of you team?"

Peter, "I do not believe i have by the time those picks come around I feel we will be one of the top teams in the league and they would be lower on the round. I feel great teams are build with a solid defense and good goal tending. I am afraid how I would love to answer more questions i have a conference call to get to. Stay tuned tho I have a few more trades in the works."

The press conference new Devils GM held to announce his block buster trade was just a few days ago but hes at it again this time with Colorado.

I feel New Jersey made a bad trade here, both players are great and young but skill difference just did not seem enough to warrant a 2nd and a 3rd round draft pick, add that with the picks they have already traded away and it seems to be they are going to be leaving there cupboards a little bare in a few years.

Devils GM Peter McEwen is at it again, this guy just does not seem to be afraid to pull the trigger on trades.

Yea how many draft picks did he trade away this time.

A few but this trade could be a big one, the one that pushes them into the playoffs.

Thats a lot of Salary to take on, but I guess we will have to wait until the end of the season to see if that becomes a problems for the Devils.

the trade for Cory i could see (as there is no way the canucks can resign him right now unless he takes a major pay cut) I mean 2 First and a Second is reasonable for the Canucks side. But for the Devils its more does adding him make them a playoff team. I dunno its an unlikly trade to see but I would not be surprised to see Cory move this season.

Considering you've stacked your team, you're throwing the Canucks two low draft picks for a great, young goaltender ready to prove himself. Than you traded for a good center (Gomez), and not trying to be mean, but you definitely ripped off the Avalanche, really badly. Just a little heads up next time if you're going for a realistic approach, you know?

To start I would like to say my ps3 went stupid and messed up all my saved data (not just nhl all of it) so i have to restart (which I am in the middle of doing right now.)

Cory Schneider for 2 1sts (2013,2014) 2 2nds (2013,1014) and Hedberg (mostly cuz i had to have a goalie in there for the trade to go threw)

Gomez for Zubrus and a 2nd

You notice I upped the the trade for Schneider. But reduced the trade for Gomez. It comes down to Gomez is coming off an aweful year with still 3 more at 7 mill a year. With out Markov being hurt (as theres no way i can hurt them) The canadians have very little cap room. I figure its more than fair a younger player gets more playing time and they free up cap space which they will need.

Henrique is making a hard push to stay with the big club with 2 goals and 1 assist in 2 games he is tied with Veteran Patrick Elias whos 2 goals came from empty net's in the first game, for the teams leading scorer. Defense man Adam Larsson has showed solid play in the defensive zone that being showed by his +/- of 0. The other great showing has been from Cory Schneider

This is what new GM Peter McEwen had to say about these moves.

"It was a touch choice to send Kory Nagy down he was playing well he didn't make any big mistakes in his few games up here, but he also did not do any thing to overly impress. We were planning on sending a few more down but from the Great play of the rest of the kids up here we decided to give them 1 more game before we start to make the hard choices. Peter Harrold was the other one he is leading our defence with 2 points he has also played a good few games and had a good camp, but he is 28 and we don't feel he is quite ready to make that jump to the NHL."

It appears its time for the Devils to Ice more of there expected opening night roster, as the Devils could not keep up with the big names on the Rangers line up. Also during the game a member of the Devils line up was injured.

With the hole in the line up it looks only Adam Larrson was sent down today. Many thought he had a chance to crack the Devils lineup but with the signing of Johnsson it didn't leave the young sweed much room. Our Devil insider reports that Henrique is going to get to play in the last preseason, and that the Devils organization seems to have some high hopes for the young Center. We can also expect to see ether Kovalchuck or Parise suiting up for the last Preseason game.

Martin Brodeur got the start he aloud 2 goals on 32 shots, for an overall strong start. Petr Sykora lead the teams offense in this game getting a goal and an assist. Kolvchuck also had a goal in his only game of the preseason.

Duthie, "Welcome Scott. When did you find out and how did you feel being traded back to the team that Drafted you. I know many fans in New Jersey felt you abandoned them."

Gomez, "I was more than pleased. The Devils GM called my agent who arranged a conversation between us. He told me about how he knew i seemed to be struggling and he was hopping he could help get my career going in the right direction again. He hopped coming back home to New Jersey would be just what I needed. He explained the Canadians wanting to shed my salary and how his team had the room to have him. But the main reason I wanted to come back was, i was young when i left and I felt i scorned the fans. I would be more than happy to spend the rest of my career here with the Devils. It truly is a home coming for me."

Duthie, "Did you say Devils GM called you before the trade was completed?"

Gomez, "Yes, he said that if I didn't want to come back to New Jersey he would pull the trade offer, but i jumped at the chance to come back."

Duthie, "Scott what are you expectation for your self and your team this year."

Gomez, "I am hopping to improve my numbers over last year. I feel if i can get at least 50 points, and do my share of the work, that our team can make the playoffs this year."

In today's game E. Christensen went down after a hard hit in the first, Devils GM has called up Rookie A. Henrique. Henrique made a strong case to be apart of the opening night line up, during the preseason he was tied for lead in goals and points. We spoke to GM Peter McEwen and this is what he had to say.

"It is sad that Erik went down, but we are glad that Henrique is getting chance to show what he can do night in and night out. We are going to try having him on the top line, playing along side Ilya and Zack."
