What does people think of this trade:

    To Ottawa:
Nikolai Antropov - rated 85 - 1 year left on contract

    To Winnipeg:
    Nick Foligno - rated 82 - RFA
Chris Neil - rated 82 - 1 year left on contract
    2012 3rd Round Pick (OTT)

No way Ottawa does that trade...I'm sorry. Neil & Foligno isn't going anywhere and especially not for a former Leaf.

Re: Winnipeg Jets: Return of the Jets

          Hey guys,

This isn't dead, I am just having trouble deciding on which direction to take the team. I can't find a suitor for Nik Antropov but my Centers are Burmistrov (84) Brassard (84) and Antropov (85) but Brassard and Burmi have high potentials so I want them on my top 2 lines, it's a shame to keep Antro on the 3rd line....maybe I just keep him until the deadline and unload him for whatever I can get?

          Any thoughts gents?

Looking good TML, like that you want input on deals as a dynasty with bogus moves is no good in my opinion. Sorry I didn't follow sooner, just getting caught up.

Thanks Tazer, any ideas on this Antropov situation?

How are your wings looking? If you really like him, have you thought about playing him at LW or RW? Maybe then he can move up and play top two lines?

He is a left handed shot so I would have him at center or left wing. But Left wing is looking solid in the top 6.

Left Wing I am solid with Evander Kane (85) A-/B/B and Andrew Ladd (85) C/C/C

And my right wing is definately weaker but still solid, and I thought I would be totally unoriginal and bring back Selanne to finish his career as a Jet.

Right Wing I have Little (84) B-/B-/B- and Blake Wheeler (83) C/C/C and if I bring in Selanne I have another RW rated 84.

I was trying to trade him for 3rd line center/PK specialist and a bottom 6 LW as I still have Thorburn to round out the RW. I just cant find anyone willing to take him. Even though hes in his last year of a contract this year.

Maybe wait till the draft and see what you can out of him than.

Re: Winnipeg Jets: Return of the Jets

What do you guys think of this trade?

                      Winnipeg Jets send:
                      C Nik Antropov (85)

                      to LA Kings for:
                      D Matt Greene (85)
                      C Trevor Lewis (79)
                      LW Kyle Clifford (78)

This trade meets the Jets need for some TWF to play in the bottom 6 and a final right handed D-Man to fill in 3rd pairing with Ron Hainsey. Greene and Lewis were on LA's trade block.

LA fills their need for offense and gets another big center to play behind Kopitar and Richards. Would only have Antropov for this year to make a solid push for 3rd round playoff action.

What kind of pick were you thinking? They already think they won the lottery with the trade as is hahahahah stupid trade logic?

I have all my picks minus a 3rd rounder, a 3rd Round pick via Minnesota, 3 4th and 5th round picks.

Re: Winnipeg Jets: Return of the Jets

                            Draft Day:

                            1 4 Jake Gibson – G – 71 C/B/B
                            2 34 Adam Todd – G – 71 B-/B/A
                            3 88 Damon Severson – D – 72 B/C/B-
                            4 93 Vincent Barnard – D - 72 B-/C-/C
                            4 94 Morgan Rielly – D – 73 C/C/B
                            4 116 Guillaume Asselin – RW – 71 B-/C/B-

                            Trade:
C Nikolai Antropov (85) + RW Carl Klingberg (72) to the Calgary Flames in exchange for C Matt Stajan (82) + LW Curtis Glencross (82)

                            5 124 Josh McFadden – D – 72 B-/B-/C
                            5 133 Adam Hughesman – LW - 70 C/C/C
                            5 150 Alex Cord – D – 67 B-/C/C
                            6 154 Trevor Carrick – D – 67 B-/C/B-
                            7 184 Cody Payne – C – 66 B-/B/B-

Overall Draft Day can be seen as a fairly positive outcome for the Winnipeg Jets. They did not draft anyone that will immediately impact their line up but they secured 2 netminders that have the ability to one day play at the NHL level along with a defenseman or 2. The biggest gain of the day was a trade just before the 5th Round of picks. The Jets add 2 players from the Calgary Flames that look to be able to provide a deep 3rd line with Matt Stajan and Curtis Glencross coming over and the Jets gave up expensive 3rd line Center Nik Antropov who will pivot Calgary’s top line along with prospect Carl Klingberg who is still 3-4 years away.

The Jets feel with these acquisitions that they stand a good chance of making the playoff’s this year and the abililty to leave some bruised opponents while they are in the playoffs.

Re: Winnipeg Jets: Return of the Jets

Buyouts, Releases, and Resigns Summer 2012:

The summer of 2012 has begun and the draft has come and gone by and the Winnipeg Jets are looking to improve on their first season back in Canada. GM Kevin Cheveldayoff has made a lot of interesting trades throughout the first season and into the offseason. Seeing what he has done so far, the GM has loaded the prospect cupboards without making the team worse. The team is significantly younger now and looking stronger than ever. Young guns Evander Kane and Zach Bogosian now have another year under their belts and are looking to leap into stardom status. New goaltender Steve Mason will be looking for a bounce back to how he played in his rookie season and lead this team to the playoffs.

With that said, GM Kevin Cheveldayoff did release several players to Free Agency.

Center – Ben Maxwell, Riley Holzapfel
Left Wing – Kendall McArdle, Michael Forney
Defense – Greg Zanon, Brett Festerling, Cody Sol
                              Goaltender – Edward Pasquale

Next up for the Jets GM is to get his 8 RFA’s under contract. There are no longer any UFA’s with the team. Kevin Cheveldayoff has just over $3.2M to reach the Salary Cap Floor so will have a lot to work with. The players in need of a new contract are:

Evander Kane (85), Eric Tangradi (79), Spencer Machacek (75), Akim Aliu (74), Simon Gysbers (74), Paul Postma (74), Marc-Andre Bourdon, and Ben Bishop.

Also this off-season the GM will be looking for another right handed Dman to play in the 6th Dman spot as Matt Walker is simply not good enough for a full time role.

Sorry I didn't get back to you on that trade but I think you did fairly well with the offer from Calgary.

I drafted Gibson a couple years back, has played reasonable well.
