I thought Lapierre was the perfect pairing with Kaleta for the grind line, then you have Gerbe who is nearly the exact opposite of those two but brings a lot of athleticism to the fourth line. We'll see how it works out.

Love the new lines for the season, hoepfully it translates to ticks in the W column.

        2012-2013 Block 1 Update: 7-3-0, 4th in EC
Tyler Myers and Buffalo will set their sights on accomplishing what Boston has.
        Blast Off!
BUFFALO, NY - The 2012-2013 has begun and already ten games are in the books.

The Sabres sit at 7-3-0 after ten games gaining a big confidence boost with a win over two-time defending Stanley Cup Champion Boston on October 10th after Tyler Myers broke a 1-1 tie with a huge blast that beat two time Conn Smythe winner Tim Thomas.

Buffalo's new additions are making an immediate impact as LW Mike Cammalleri had three goals and three assists to help the Sabres to their ten game mark. Center Maxim Lapierre scored a goal in Buffalo's 5-2 loss to Los Angeles on October 6th and rookie Marcus Foligno chipped in a goal and assist.

As of October 22nd the Pittsburgh Penguins sit at 7-0. After missing the playoffs last year it appears both Buffalo and Pittsburgh are playing with a new intensity.

Definitely, pairing him with Cammalleri has already worked out well. 17 goals all of last year, five in ten games with Cammi.

Awesome work on this chise, the writing is simple yet informative and the tables all look great. Really interested in this, I just read the whole way through. Hopefully you can get over the hump this year with those new offensive additions and power into the playoffs.

Interesting to see how you're using Gerbe as a fourth liner, I actually traded for him at the deadline to play on the first line since I liked his speed alongside Sid. Just to each his own, haha.

                    Good luck!

Thanks! Gerbe does have skill to be a top forward but I just love him on the 4th line with the grinders as well as on the PK. The big grinders do the dirty work, send a pass to Gerbe and next thing you know he is racing past the defense. It's a nice combination of different skill sets.

                        2012-2013 Block 2 Update: 11-7-2, 6th in EC
Cody Hodgson is leading the charge as Buffalo transitions into a faster and more physical game.
                        Whole New Attitude
BUFFALO, NY - Buffalo maintained pace and sits sixth in the Eastern Conference at 11-7-2 after twenty games which may be worrisome for Sabres fans thinking back to last year.

Buffalo was 11-6-3 at this point last year and wound up missing the playoffs by two points.

While progress in the record is not clearly visible, progress on the ice is.

The 2012-2013 Sabres are a group playing fast and physical and most importantly, they are finding the back of the net. Comparing to last year the Sabres had just 42 goals through 20 games. This year Buffalo has 64 goals through 20 games, a sign that the changes made in the way the Sabres play the game are indeed working.

New addition Mike Cammalleri pushed his goal total to seven during the last block. First and second line right wingers Jason Pominville and Tyler Ennis combined for 40 goals all of the last season but are already on the way to shattering that mark this year as they combine for 17 goals through 20 games with Pominville netting nine and Ennis scoring eight.

                        Can't Stop The Train
The night before Halloween the Sabres gave Pittsburgh all they could handle but the Penguins downed Buffalo 4-2 to successfully win their first ten games of the season. At 10-0-0 the Penguins are clearly the class of the NHL at this point.

                        Injury Report
The Sabres are experiencing a lot of injuries at the moment with both D Christian Ehrhoff and C Maxim Lapierre suffering MCL sprains. The pair should be back in 4-5 weeks.

C Luke Adam was called up from Rochester to replace Lapierre but broke his nose in his third game up and will be out 6-7 weeks. C Joel Armia will be called up to take over the fourth line center role.

                            2012-2013 Block 3 Update: 18-10-2, 5th in EC
Tyler Ennis and Jason Pominville are stepping up as leaders of the 2012-2013 Sabres.
                            Sabres Catch Fire
BUFFALO, NY - After 30 games things are looking great for the Buffalo Sabres.

The Sabres have bumped their way to fifth in the Eastern Conference and sit just two points behind division leading Montreal after going 7-3-0 in their most recent ten game stretch and currently hold a five game win streak.

Leading the way for Buffalo are wingers Jason Pominville and Tyler Ennis who sit one and two in terms of scoring this year on the team. Pominville added eight goals to his total during the last block having a pair of two-goal performances against Toronto on November 15th and Carolina on November 19th. Pominville's total currently sits at 17 while Ennis has 13 after scoring three goals in the last two games.

Another hot hand the Sabres have going is goaltender Ryan Miller. After an up and down year last season, Miller finally looks to be the Ryan Miller of old. During the current the five game win streak the Sabres have going, Miller has allowed an average of just one goal per game fueling the Sabres to victories.
