The Senators Sign Fisher. Pick him up off waivers

Mike Fisher is now back on the Sens, after his divorce with Carey Underwood in Nashville. He makes $4.540M and we feel that for that price, he is worth the pick up. He joins Nick Foligno and Eric Condra on the 2nd line, bumping Kyle Turris down to 3rd line, and Konopka to 4th.
We are starting Konopka over Regin due to toughness. Regin and Konopka are both on trading block, and are more then likely to be moved for the right price. We feel that we have more then enough centers, and with Fisher now back on our team, its time to ship out one or the other.

The Ottawa Senators are 24th right now. They have 8 wins and 11 losses. When asked in an interview, Nuka the GM said that he feels they need a solid backup goalie to back up Anderson, and that Auld will be traded in the near future to help reach that goal. The Ottawa Senators are looking to grab the #1 pick this draft, or trade for one. Colorado, Columbus and Phoenix are the bottom three, each with only 4 wins in 19 games.

Alfredsson is out still with a hip pointer, and has yet to play any NHL games.
Gonchar is also out after suffering a hit, and now has a concussion.
Michalek sprained his MCL a couple games ago after a hit to the boards.

All three will be back in the next 2-3 weeks.

The Senators acquire Devan Dubnyk off waivers from Edmonton

Dubnyk has been picked up off Edmonton. He will serve as a backup to Anderson in the NHL next year. Right now he is sent down to AHL, backed up by Lehner.
Dubnyk is next in line to back up our #1 goalie, Anderson. Auld wants out, and will get his wish if we can settle for a good deal. If not, he will be bought out in the off season.

The Canadiens have shipped off Nathan Beaulieu and Yennick Weber to San Jose in return for center James Sheppard.

Nashville has sent off a 2012 3rd round draft pick for Phoenix's Nathan Oystrick. It is believed that Nashville is trying to make a push after losing both Mike Fisher and Paul Gaustard on waivers last month.

          * one week later *

Alfredsson has returned! With out him, the Senators went 8-13-1.

In other news, Colorado claimed Jeff Finger off waivers from Toronto

            Re: A SENSational story

Ottawa says good bye to Gonchar and Gilroy, Acquires Grabner and a 1st rounder from Islanders

Ottawa Trades: Alex Auld, Matt Gilroy, Sergei Gonchar, 2014 1st round, 2014 2nd round, 2013 2nd round
New York Islanders: 2012 1st round, Michael Grabner

We feel like in 2014, we will be play off contenders. So we won't need our 1st round pick. We also have acquired the Islanders 1st round for this year, which is a good draft class. After gaining Dubnyn off waivers earlier in the year, we figured he can back up Anderson, and Auld can be shipped off. Gonchar will be missed, but due to his age (37), we feel like he will be retiring soon, and Gilroy was just useless and benched the whole season.
Grabner will play 2nd line, beside Fisher and Foligno. This means that Butler will be a healthy scratch. Grabner will be the replacement for Alfredsson in the near future, who will retire soon. This also will clear up alot of cap room.

Weircioch has been called up from the AHL, to play alongside Cowan on the 3rd line defense. He has 11 assists in 27 games for the Baby Sens.
