I'm a pretty casual player, but I play regularly, so I will provide game updates and photos/videos pretty regularly. I try to play just about every game, so this dynasty will be pretty much be set to the pace I play the game. I'll try to keep the readers up-to-date on all the big transactions and team reports, most likely to be at set intervals throughout the season. I'm a big hockey fan, and hope I can keep some readers entertained with this dynasty. Feel free to start posting after I post the first game recap!

Re: Sharpening the Swords - Buffalo Sabres Be A GM

(Buffalo, NY)... After a very mediocre 2011-2012 campaign and missing the playoffs, Darcy Regier has decided to resign as the Buffalo Sabres General Manager. Owner Terrence Pegula didn't wait long to announce that Hayden Gray will be the new General Manager and Director of Operations.

Gray, who has been the Assistant GM of the Gwinnett Gladiators, has been named in the somewhat surprise decision. After winning the Kelly Cup the past year, Hayden Gray is poised to make an immediate impact on turning around the Buffalo Sabres franchise, hoping to finally bring Lord Stanley's Cup to Buffalo.

(Buffalo, NY)... GM Hayden Gray has received his goals for the year, here is a quick glance at his expectations:

        • At least 44 wins out of his team this season

        • Make an appearance in the Conference Semi Finals

        • Develop young players like Hodgson, Ennis, Grigorenko, and Myers

        • Above .500 record at home

Re: Sharpening the Swords - Buffalo Sabres Be A GM

(Buffalo, NY)... The Buffalo Sabres went 3-1 this preseason, hopefully indicating a successful season ahead. The Sabres preseason schedule started off with a rebuilding Maple Leafs team who couldn't seem to handle the Sabres, with Buffalo taking a 5-2 win. The Sabres then went on to host another Canadian team, this time Montreal. The Sabres got off to a very quick start while Montreal got into penalty trouble. This was an offensive blowout, resulting in a 6-0 Sabres win. Rounding out the last to games of preseason, Buffalo squeezed out a win in Ottawa, and got beaten handily by the bruising Boston Bruins.

"Overall I thought we looked very well in the preseason," Gray remarked "we got a lot of scoring out of our young players, we just need to start molding together as a team."

Buffalo will kick off their season October 13th in Buffalo hosting the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The first period proved to be the killer in this game. Pittsburgh got their only goals relatively close together in quick fashion, but we're held in check by the Sabres the rest of the game. We badly outplayed them the rest of the game as you can see by the shots, but it just happened to be a case of running into a hot goalie, Fleury stopped everything sent his way. Detroit now comes to town fresh off an OT heartbreaker.

A very positive game, especially since all 4 goals were scored by different goal scorers. A quick strike by us got the crowd into the game early. Nice seeing goals scored by the seasoned players, hopefully that continues throughout the season. Miller looked in top form, making some clutch saves when pressure was high in our zone. Detroit got into penalty trouble and we never looked back.

This was a fairly even game right from the beginning. Both teams were somewhat feeling each other out for the first period. Proven by the box score, both teams were even throughout the whole game. Rangers got a pretty good goal out of Boyle in front of the net, putting the puck right over Millers left shoulder. Overall fun game to play, hopefully we can sneak out the win next time.

What are your sliders to make it so realistic, I have NHL 12 with a Jets career but I win a little too much but its still fun, do you think I should get 13, and what are your sliders

I'm one of those people who gets the newest NHL game every year, but this year I've seemed to be having more fun than in previous years. I like realism, so the updated equipment and the new skating physics I personally like, but ultimately its your call. I'd recommend maybe renting the game and trying to get a feel for it before you go spending a bit of money on it!

Man this was a fun game to play. After being down 1-0 after the first, we came out in the second with a little more uptempo pace. After being down by one late in the third, I decided to pull the goalie. With 30 seconds left, Vanek scored on a total snipe from the top of the circle. Once again we found ourselves in penalty trouble with Stafford taking a penalty with 3 seconds left in regulation. The Islanders went on to capitalize on this in OT, winning 3-2.

I got my revenge in this game with the overtime win. Hodgson played great continuing to be my first line center. Ryan Miller played outstanding, making some big saves on a breakaway as well as in the shootout. Slow start to the season, hopefully things start to come together as the season keeps going on.
