A NEW GENERAL MANAGER IN MINNY
August, 2013
The Minnesota Wild held a press conference earlier today to introduce their new general manager, Jonathan Lord. Unknown to most hockey fans, Lord defined himself as a hardcore NHL fan, who knows a lot about the game, and the business side of it.
This is a new era for the Minnesota Wild, who failed to do anything noteworthy under Cliff Fletcher, who was hired in 2009, missing the playoffs on three consecutive seasons before being eliminated by the Chicago Blackhawks in the conference quarterfinals last year.
"There's a solid base here, one that I'm confident can be improved upon pretty quickly. And that's precisely what I'm going to do in the upcoming months. I spent the last couple of weeks getting familiar with our roster and salary structure, and I already have a few tweaks in mind. Changes that I'll rather make sooner than later. This team can and will be a challenger for years to come in the very near future. Rest assured Wild fans, I'm no Garth Snow !"
Lord already confirmed that the core of the team should remain intact, meaning forwards Mikko Koivu, Zach Parise, Jason Pominville and Ryan Suter should still be wearing the Wild's uniform when the season starts. Lord also confirmed that he wants to give winger Dany Heatley a chance to redeem himself, and prove he can still be a legitimate top-6 forward in this league.

House Rules (Trades)
I always allow myself to make several changes before the very first season starts, just to tweak the team to my liking. Once the first pre-season is on its way, I follow very strict house rules for the entire franchise.
- Can only initiate a trade for a player listed in red by the CPU controlled team, and must offer green listed players in return.
- Can modify any offer the CPU sends to me, as long as the initial CPU targeted players are part of the final deal. Meaning if the CPU shows interest in one or many of my players, I can ask for whatever I want in return, no matter what the color is. Note that if a counter offer is made and refused by the CPU, I cannot initiate a new trade offer, and will have to wait for the CPU to show interest again.
- Trade Deadline and Draft are open markets. Meaning I can make any offer I wish, with no color restrictions of any kind. I will however be limited by the number of phone that I have.
- During the offseason, I'm allowed three seperate trades, in order to solve some cap issues. CPU ontrolled teams still have to show interest, meaning my player has to be listed green for me to make an offer, in which case, I can ask for whatever return I want.
