Flyers Announce Resignings
GM Ron Hextall announced the Flyers resignings and those that would not recieve a contract. "It was a pretty easy resigning phase for us. We did not renew the contracts of Joni Pitkanen, Ray Emery, Andrew Gordon, Nick Schultz, and Rob Zepp as we are starting to go in a younger direction and this'll open spots for our prospects to fight for a roster spot."

Re: Rebuilding Broad Street(NHL15 PS4)
FREE AGENT REPORTThe 2015 Free Agent season was a docile one compared to years past with the only premier players available being Martin St. Louis and Mike Green. The Flyers attempted to sign Mike Green to a 2yr/$7M deal, but the offensive defenseman chose to go to New Jersey on an almost identical deal, according to insiders. Martin St. Louis went back to the team that gave up on him all those years ago as he signed a 1yr/$9M deal with the Calgary Flames. The Flames also signed former-Flyers Joni Pitkanen to a 3yr/$4.6M deal.
The Flyers were unusually quiet as the only signing they made was signing Peter Budaj to a 2yr/$1M deal to back-up Steve Mason. "There wasn't a lot out there that would improve our team. I'm happy with the look of our team. I can't say I wasn't disappointed that Mike Green didn't sign with us, but he was the top defenseman on the market and I'm not going to make the mistake of signing a free agent to an insane amount of money on a long term deal."Comment

Re: Rebuilding Broad Street(NHL15 PS4)
Would love to see Stolarz push for the backup job! Huge fan of his. Great first round pick as well in Ryan Gropp. Good job on this dynasty, it's great! As far as my own GM Mode goes, luckily I haven't seen more than two goaltenders that are projected to go first round.Detroit Red Wings

Re: Rebuilding Broad Street(NHL15 PS4)
Alright after using the Game of the Week set up for the first season, I've decided to shift to a Monthly recap for this. It'll help me advance further in years, while still posting a good amount of reports with the limited playing time that I have.
Monthly report will include
Brief Write up about the events during the month
Game Results(sadly only scores, thanks EA since I can't GameCast the sims like in earlier games or look at the boxscores)
NHL News(Trades/FA/Waivers/Key Injuries)
Team Stats
Maybe a Draft report mid-season.
Any other idea?
Thank you to all that are actively following, helps motivate me to continue to improve on my DynastyComment

Re: Rebuilding Broad Street(NHL15 PS4)
2015-16 Season Preview
Key Additions: Gustav Nyquist(Trade), Peter Budaj(FA)
Key Losses: Brayden Schenn(Trade), Joni Pitkanen(FA), Nick Schultz(FA)
The Flyers come into the 2015-16 season a much younger team than the one that started last season. Flyers GM Ron Hextall dealt a lot of the veteran players last year and brought in youth and speed. Gone are Andrew MacDonald, Matt Read, Nick Grossmann, Braydon Coburn and in are Devante Smith-Pelley, Jakob Silfverberg, Jason Zucker, and Justin Falk. Those four players look to have bigger roles on the Flyers alongside an already young core. Mark Streit, Vincent Lecavalier and Peter Budaj are the only players over 30 and should this team falter those three players may be dealt.
Offense: Claude Giroux and Jake Voracek are the cataylsts for the Flyers offense and with the addition of Gustav Nyquist that line is potentially more dangerous than ever, but don't overlook the other lines. All four lines could be capable of putting the puck in the net. Sean Couturier had a breakout season putting up 30 Goals and 36 Assists holding down the 2nd line and with Jakob Silfverberg and Wayne Simmonds as his line-mates look for all three players to put up 20+ goals each. Rookie Scott Laughton earned a roster spot after a strong training camp and will center Vincent Lecvalier and Devante Smith-Pelley for an excellent two-way third line that is capabale of scoring goals. The 4th line of Raffl-White-Zucker will surprise many teams if they don't them into account.
Defense: The moment that many fans have been waiting for has arrive as Shayne Gostisbehere has secured a roster spot and will start on the third line with Justin Falk. "Shayne had a great training camp and looked comfortable during the pre-season games, so he's earned it." Luke Schenn and Michael Del Zotto will be the top pairing and looked upon to handle the bulk of the defense. Mark Streit and Philip Larsen have potential to be a solid 2nd pairing as Larsen has improved since joining the Flyers last year. Streit and Del Zotto will be looked at to move the puck and chip in a few goals, along with Gostisbehere. This unit could make or break the Flyers chances at a post-season.
Goalie: Steve Mason had an up and down year where he looked like the Calder-Trophy winning goalie he was and then the struggling goalie that worries many in Philadelphia. He failed to lock down the starting role as he split starts with Ray Emery and with the signing of Peter Budaj now is the time for Mason to grab the reigns and take the Flyers starting job. Depending on which Mason the Flyers get this season will decide how far they go this season.
Goaltending is sitll the Flyers achilles heel and GM Ron hextall failed to draft a future goalie during the firesale at the 2015 draft, but did draft Alex Bureau who could be a starter in the future. Anthony Stolarz is also a potential goalie of the future for the Flyers.
Prediction: 5th in Metro, Missed PlayoffsComment

Re: Rebuilding Broad Street(NHL15 PS4)
FLYERS SURVIVE INJURY PLAGUED OCTOBER
Fans and "Experts" alike weren't coming into the 2015-16 season with high hopes for the Philadelphia Flyers, but the Flyers weren't listening as they shot out of the gate posting a 5-2-3 record in the month of October including going 3-1-2 to start. Injuries played a part in the later part of the month as Philip Larsen(Bruised Foot/Returned), Luke Schenn(Broken Hand/Nov 23) and Michael Del Zotto(MIld Concussion/Returned) were all injured around the same time forcing the Flyers to call up rookies Mark Alt and Samuel Morin. Alt would go down shortly after his call up with a broken hand and is out till Nov 20th, but Samuel Morin performed admirably in his three games he played in place of Mark Alt.
Claude Giroux led the way with 7 goals and 3 assists while Jakub Silfverberg led the team in assists with 7. Rookie defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere chipped in 2 goals and Scott Laughton added 5 of his own. Back up Peter Budaj holds a 3-0-1 record, but went down in the Oct 31st showdown vs Chicago with a Separated shoulder that has him out until early December. Steve Mason holds a 2-3 Record with a 2.61GAA and .922SV% and has given the Flyers chances to win games, an improvement over last season.
GM Ron Hextall was a little busy filling out the minor leagues as he made two trades. First he sent Derek Mathers and Petr Straka to Minnesota for a 2016 6th Rounder and then sent Oliver Lauridsen and Brandon Manning to St. Louis for another 2016 6th round pick. This freed up roster space to add some undrafted players. The Minnesota Wild also claimed Zac Rinaldo off waivers. The following players signed ELCs with the Flyers along with the signing of Andrey Makarov to back up Mason while Peter Budaj is out with his injury

In the NHL, the Buffalo Sabres and Ottawa Senators have shot out like a cannon posting 11-2 and 10-2 records respectively. On the other end of the spectrum, the defending Stanley Cup Champions New York Islanders have limped out with a 3-7-2 record to start the 2015-16 Campaign. Henrik Lundqvist has picked up where he left off from his Vezina winning season posting a 7-2 record with a cool 1.62GAA and 94.4SV%, while Ben Bishop is right on his coat-tails with a 7-4, 1.79GAA and 936SV%. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins leads the NHL with 17 points, while Jeff Skinner leads the NHL with 12 goals. Teams have been quiet with the wheeling and dealing, so nothing to report there
