September 2014 -
There is a lot of hope surrounding one of the NHL's most famous clubs as the Toronto Maple Leafs prepare for the 2014-2015 season.
Former Detroit Red Wing and league disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan is the new President of Hockey Operations and plans on using this season to truly evaluate every player on the Leafs roster.
General Manager Dave Nonis understands that any time somebody new joins the club above you that means you have to prove yourself so he is hoping the team he put together is a successful one.
After multiple seasons with horrendous collapses, the coaching staff laid out plans on how the roster will shape up during training camp:
James Reimer & Jonathan Bernier:
Each goalie will get 3 starts in the preseason, whichever goalie performs better will be in net opening night against the Canadiens.
Forwards and Defence
The team has worked out a combination of stats and says their lineup will not be formed based on name or salary or past performances. They will use this new combination of stats that could see anybody on any line or pairing depending on their play at the time.
