Re: The Rolling Thunder. (Carolina Hurricanes: EHM EA)
Hey guys, thanks for the support so far, I appreciate it. Just letting you all know that I will be restarting this due to a much improved roster update for EHM:EA. I wouldn't have restarted if I was farther in, but since I've only played one regular season game, I will restart. I won't update the pre-season again and will get straight to the regular season.
EDIT: I've gone ahead and deleted the Staal suspension and opening night post to avoid confusion.Comment

Re: The Rolling Thunder. (Carolina Hurricanes: EHM EA)
Jordan Hits IR, Staal Resumes Practice
Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Michal Jordan has been played on the 7-Day Injured Reserve list due to a hip flexor strain he suffered in practice on Saturday, October 18th. Jordan was playing on the Hurricanes' third defensive pair at the right defensive position alongside Jack Hillen. Jordan, who had zero points and was +4 through 4 games, is expected to miss about 3 weeks.
23 year-old Danny Biega was recalled from the AHL Charlotte Checkers to replace Jordan on the active roster. Biega was a third-round pick by Carolina in the 2010 draft out of Harvard University. The graduate of the Salisbury School in Connecticut played four years for the Crimson and was a two-time All-ECAC Selection (to the first team in 2012 and the second team in 2011). Following his senior season in 2013, he signed an entry level contract with the Hurricanes. His current contract is a one-way deal that calls for $400K through 2016. He will be a restricted free agent following the contract's expiration.
On the offensive side of the ice, Hurricanes center Jordan Staal has returned to light, non-contact practice this week. Staal has missed the team's last three games with a foot contusion suffered on Opening Night. He could return for the Hurricanes' game on Thursday, October 23, against Calgary, or the day after against Edmonton. At the latest, he should return on October 28th against Vancouver.Comment

Re: The Rolling Thunder. (Carolina Hurricanes: EHM EA)
AROUND THE NHL: OCTOBER 2014
Steven Stamkos and the Lightning Find Themselves Atop the East
First Month Superlatives
BEST TEAM: Steven Stamkos and his 11 points in 11 games has helped lead the Tampa Bay Lightning to a surprising spot atop the Eastern Conference. The Lightning amassed 17 points in October, and find themselves three points clear of 2nd in the conference.
BEST PLAYER: It hasn't been the best month for the Carolina Hurricanes, but Canes winger Alexander Semin has helped them to their biggest wins yet. The 30 year old Russian international, regarded as a possible trade piece, has 13 points in 8 games, tied with Canucks winger Radim Vrbata, with two fewer games played.
BEST GOALIE: The Los Angeles Kings find themselves atop the Western Conference through the first month of the season, largely due to the amazing play of netminder Jonathan Quick. In nine games between the pipes, Quick has allowed seven goals in 497 minutes, for a goals against average of 0.85. He has also saved 96.7% of opposing shots. He is 8–1–0 on the season.
BEST ROOKIE: The Capitals find themselves middling in the Eastern Conference currently, but if the play of Evgeny Kuznetsov continues, they could rise up the standings. Playing right wing on a first line with superstars Alexander Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom, the 2010 first rounder has scored 3 points and added five assists in 9 games, second among rookie skaters in points and tied for first in assists.

Re: The Rolling Thunder. (Carolina Hurricanes: EHM EA)
Eric Staal Hits IR
His brother was injured earlier in the season, now Carolina Hurricanes center Eric Staal will miss time on injured reserve after suffering a foot injury in Saturday's win over the Avalanche. Staal is expected to miss up to two weeks with the injury. He has had a successful campaign for Carolina, scoring 7 goals and 10 assists for 17 points in all 20 of the Hurricanes' games. He was on pace before the injury to eclipse his 2014 points total when he had 61 in 79 games.
The Hurricanes recalled 23 year-old center/right winger Brody Sutter from AHL Charlotte to take Staal's spot at the roster. Sutter will be making his NHL debut when he suits up for the Hurricanes' game against Florida on Wednesday. Sutter, a native of Calgary, was a 7th round pick (#193 overall) in the 2011 draft by Carolina, from the Lethbridge Hurricanes of the Western Hockey League. He had two points in 14 games for Charlotte this year and 28 in 69 games for Charlotte last season.Comment

Re: The Rolling Thunder. (Carolina Hurricanes: EHM EA)
More Injuries at Center For Carolina Hurricanes
Just one game after Eric Staal was sent to the sidelines for two weeks, the Carolina Hurricanes suffered two more injuries to key offensive players in just one game, a loss against the Florida Panthers on Wednesday. Riley Nash and Jordan Staal will both miss approximately one week to 10 days with a hamstring strain and neck strain, respectively. Nash has played all 21 of the Hurricanes' games to date, and the 25 year-old has 7 points (3 goals + 4 assists) in those games. Staal has already missed time this season and has only played in 11 games, scoring 3 goals and assisting on 9 (equal to 12 points) over that time frame. Injuries have always been a struggle for Staal, and after playing all 82 games last season, looks likely to miss up to 15 games already through the first two months of the season.
Zach Boychuck, the Hurricanes' first round pick (#14 overall) in 2008 was recalled to the big league club. The forward has not met the expectations he had after being drafted from the Lethbridge Hurricanes, playing in only 96 NHL games and scoring just 9 goals, with just 24 total points. He spent parts of four seasons with the Hurricanes before being claimed off waivers by the Penguins and subsequently being traded to Nashville after just 7 NHL games. He returned to the Hurricanes organization on a 2 way contract at the end of the 2013 season and has played in the AHL all season, with 12 points in 17 games.Comment
