Nice win. Looked like it turned into a run and gun type game.

First period we just came out blitzing. They couldn't hang with us so it was fairly smooth sailing from there.

              PITTSBURGH PENGUINS ROSTER UPDATE

Pittsburgh Penguins Head Coach Mike Sullivan: Forward Conor Sheary will be out for Game 4 with a sprained ankle. We will be inserting Teddy Blueger into his spot in the lineup.

We're also pleased to have defenseman Justin Schultz back for his playoff debut. Juuso Riikola will become a healthy scratch.

Tons of defensive lapses and just ugly goaltending. I've considered switching to Matt Murray, but we've been winning so we're staying the course.

Penguins' Coach Mike Sullivan nominated for Jack Adams Award

                        Apr. 15, 2020 | The Pittsburgh Gazette

PITTSBURGH, PA - The National Hockey League has announced their nominees for the Jack Adams Award - awarded annually to the league's top head coach. The nominees are Pittsburgh's Mike Sullivan, Toronto's Sheldon Keefe, and Edmonton's Dave Tippett.

Coach Sullivan, since his arrival on December 12th, 2015, has had one of the hottest streaks of success in arguably NHL history since the Expansion era. He has won two Stanley Cups, and in the first year since signing a four-year contract extension, has led the Penguins to a President's Trophy as the league's top team.

The Penguins are in the midst of a playoff run, having just ousted the Boston Bruins in five games in the Eastern Conference Quarter-Finals.

Toronto Maple Leafs' head coach Sheldon Keefe feels a lot like Mike Sullivan when he first was hired in relief of Mike Johnston mid-season before the Penguins' first of two back-to-back Stanley Cup championships.

He came in after the Maple Leafs and Mike Babcock parted ways earlier this season before the team powered their way to second in the Eastern Conference, with an Atlantic Division title.

The Toronto Maple Leafs made quick work of the New York Islanders in the first round, sweeping the team.

Edmonton Oilers' head coach Dave Tippett is the only coach that has previously won a Jack Adams Award when he was the head coach of the Arizona Coyotes in 2010.

The Edmonton Oilers have arguably the top player in the NHL with Connor McDavid, who went and drafted perhaps another MVP season while he led the league in scoring.

The Edmonton Oilers, in a Battle of Alberta matchup with the Calgary Flames, came out on top with a seven-game series win.

The winner will be announced at the NHL Awards Show at the end of the season.

                          Players To Watch

Washington, Braden Holtby (G): Other than the first matchup between the Penguins and the Capitals, in which Washington surprised Pittsburgh with a 5-1 shutdown of their incredible offense, the Penguins have chased the Capitals in every single game. Goaltending is going to be huge in shutting down the Penguins, as Tuukka Rask of the Boston Bruins was basically the only player keeping Boston in the playoffs. Lucky for Washington, Braden Holtby is red-hot, and has gotten the benefit of rest while waiting for the rest of the playoffs to catch up after sweeping the Flyers. He has to stand on his head and hope Alex Ovechkin and the offense is ready.

Pittsburgh, Evgeni Malkin (F): The Pittsburgh Penguins were blessed with the news that Evgeni Malkin would return for Game 2, as he put up two goals in the remaining four games to help the team extinguish the Bruins early in the playoffs. He thrives against Washington when matched up against Alex Ovechkin and the Penguins are going to need him to get into superstar mode this series. The two-headed monster needs to be ready to go.

                          Expected Outcome
The Pittsburgh Penguins were on the road to their third consecutive Stanley Cup before Evgeny Kuznetsov scored an overtime goal to kick the Pens out of the playoffs in 2017. The Penguins have no plans of that happening again. The Washington Capitals are fully loaded and confident after knocking out the Philadelphia Flyers with ease. This series isn’t going to be a breeze.

Penguins' Captain Sidney Crosby nominated for Hart, Ted Lindsay, Selke

                                Apr. 24, 2020 | The Pittsburgh Gazette

PITTSBURGH, PA - The National Hockey League has announced their nominees for the Hart Memorial Trophy - awarded to the player deemed to be the most valuable to his team. Edmonton Oilers' captain Connor McDavid, Washington Capitals' captain Alex Ovechkin, and Pittsburgh Penguins' captain Sidney Crosby were nominated as league MVP.

For Sidney Crosby, this is his opportunity to be awarded his third league MVP, his last two coming in 2007 and 2014. Crosby dominated this past season, especially in the latter half of the season with 56 goals and 101 points in 80 games played. His 56 goals were good for a tie with Ovechkin for the league-lead, landing him his third Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy as the league's leading goal-scorer.

Crosby finished third in league scoring, behind Connor McDavid's 113 points and Winnipeg Jets' star Mark Scheifele's 102 points. Crosby, McDavid, and Scheifele were nominated for the Ted Lindsay Award, as the league's most outstanding player as voted by the Player's Association.

Crosby, most recently noted for his increased defensive play, has been nominated for the Frank J. Selke Trophy as the league's top defensive forward - his first nomination. Crosby led the league in plus/minus with a +55 rating as a part of the league-dominating Pittsburgh Penguins.

Crosby is nominated along with Winnipeg Jets' captain Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele.

The winner will be announced at the NHL Awards Show at the end of the season.
